Wonderland- the wind is off the hook in Asheville today! We had rain last night and hail in some areas. Glad the weather is cooperating with your outside activities!
Jo- we got your rain! I'm just thankful it kicked out quickly! You are so lucky to have dependable contractors! That's a dying breed!
Ruth- I chuckled at the "72". We haven't been as cold as you guys but 72 sounds like Heaven on Earth right now!
Heidihill- having pets brings so much joy! I enjoy other people's pet stories and photos so much!
Yesterday was basically a repeat of Wednesday plus at OT and a supervision with the company I have a contract with. I really like my "Q" and so does my girl. I had Charlee again today. She's a little spitfire!
Today was a bit slower! Had state home visit today and we like her to! Got all the Ghostbusters party favor bags made for Chance and Charlee's birthday party Sunday and all the housework done. Feeding my girl lunch and reading all the post. Going to do a strengthening DVD when lunch is done.

it was a beautiful but chilly 73 degrees this morning. In the past 3 days I have called 67 Physicians offices trying to find a new PCP. It has been a nightmare. Not one single physician is taking new patients until mid-june. I tried to explain to them I had to see a primary to get a referral for new oncologist. I cannot schedule an appointment with a MO until I have a referral number. They didn't care. I finally found a DO who agreed to see me next Wednesday. He actually spoke to me on the phone and reassured me he would help me find an oncologist. The irony is my insurance has a policy when you switch primaries you have to wait 10 days. Understanding they're the ones who took away my primary because they canceled the contract. So I had to get a supervisor to put my new Primary in effect immediately. I'm not going to lie to you after I had called physician number 53 I sat in my car and cried. I think it was accumulation of frustration, anxiety and sadness. I'm in great health right now. My heart breaks for individuals who are going through major health issues and have to deal with insurance issues while sick.
However, I left work early today. I'm throwing on my running shoes. I'm out the door in just a few minutes. I know you cannot run away from your problems but I'm sure as heck going to try to do that now. Bye

I'd cry too, Jo. What the #&*# (fill in the swear word of your choice) is wrong with our system that the PEOPLE it's supposed to serve don't matter???? And when I think the elderly, or anyone not savvy enough to advocate for themselves....they're screwed
None of the Friday classes here appealed to me (or they were at 6:30 am, which I am not doing on vacation!), so I did some toning exercises here and walked for an hour. I'm enjoying big tall glasses of orange juice that I've picked right off the tree!

Jo, I had a similar issue when I switched insurance plans....and was looking for a new doc the same week I found that damned lump in my breast! No one had space for two or three months, obviously too long to wait. (I lived in a small town that was very medically underserved). I ended up calling and then emailing BOTH the new insurance company and my employer, with cc's to each otherstating that I felt it was misleading if not downright fraudulent to encourage/allow me to switch insurers (in open enrollment) if I couldn't be seen by a doc within a week or two for an urgent matter. (because my old GP wasn't on the new insurance). The very next morning, they called me with a doc who could see me that week, and from there all went smoothly, with all of the appropriate referrals.
In your case, I think you had said you get your insurance on the exchanges (via the ACA). If that is true, you can't engage your employer as I did (I am sure it didn't hurt that at the time, even though I lived in a small town, I worked for the second largest employer in the State of California). However, if you are on ACA, I'd advise you to consider calling your State Representatives, and your Congressperson and Senator's staff and follow up with email telling them what you've told us: they in essence took away your coverage (because no one will see you) and you've called 50 plus docs and can't get an appointment despite the fact that you are a cancer patient. Suggest that what you are experiencing feels like just another way of excluding someone with a pre-existing condition. And keep calling the staff back till you get a response. In my experience, State representatives and Congressional staff will pay attention to these types of calls from constituents: indeed, it isn't unusual to have a person on staff whose job it is to address constituent concerns.
And best of luck to you! It really is wrong that you are having to go through this!

octogirl- we're on the same page. I did place a call to my representative and left a message. I also filed three separate grievances with my insurance company. The ACA informed me I do not meet the criteria to be able to switch insurance companies until the new enrollment.. I'm much calmer now. Running almost always helps me to clear my head. Ladies have a wonderful weekend.
Ruth-I loved the baseball pics. My beloved Florida Marlins haven't done well in many years but I still go to the games. I enjoy visiting baseball parks when I travel.

PA thinks everything is probably normal - but to see the gyn anyways - PA said gyn would probably do a trans vaginal ultrasound - and as long as all was good no need for a biopsy - the way she described the endometrial biopsy sounded very painful. For now I'm not worried. Four doctor appointments in 3 weeks - I'm done!!!

Woke up at 5:15 and decided to just get up - decided to bake a batch of mandel break cookies - the cookie cupboard is bare - and this will probably be the last baking as slowly as we eat them anymore till after Passover (its a mere 4 weeks away)....

I was counting the days before I headed to New Orleans for my OT conference. American Airlines notified me today that there has been a slight change. Instead of leaving on April 3rd there were no flights available until April 5th at midnight. My conference is 4 days so I would miss the first two days of the conference. I tried calling the hotel to see if I could stay an extra night but that would cost me $1,500 for that one night. Can you believe that? A hotel room that usually runs $357 a night is now $1,500 a night. Ended up canceling the trip a

karen, the endo biopsy was no worse than a little cramping. I found it quick and not too bad. My endometrial cancer saga was way easier than my BC saga. Well they occurred at the same time, but you know what I mean

Karen an endometrial biopsy is way easy compared to the other stuff we have been through. I would have 10 of them over one breast biopsy. Still I know you don’t want any of it at all.
Wonderland, that is a lot of pine straw. I always count the yard and garden work. It is good exercise.

They are predicting a huge shortage of GPs in the future, so I fear Jo’s experience could be morecommon.
We had a very nice day yesterday and I got in a dog walk plus a walk around the lake. Good thing I did two walks. Today I worked on taxes first, and darn if it hasnt rained all the rest of the day.

Twohobbies-Insurance issues remain scary. GPs are in short supply. I live in a major metropolitan area . I fear for people who live in rural areas whereas GPs are already in short supply.
I had a RT flight/hotel scheduled for April 3-8 from Miami to New Orleans
American Airlines called me today to reschedule my flight for New Orleans. Unfortunately, the only flight out of Miami they could offer me was at the end of my conference and a return flight 24 hours later. After haggling with them they finally agreed to a full refund. My conference fees of $500 is non-refundable. After a week of dealing with insurance issues and now having to cancel my trip to NOLA, I am determined to start my work week out tomorrow with good positive energy. Physically I'm feeling good so now I just have to re-energize my emotional state. My orchids are blooming and the sun is shining; things will improve, it's just a tad bit frustrating right now. I have to show off my beautiful orchid. This beauty blooms every 4 months or so.

Dh and I spread all those bales of pine straw on Friday. That night I could hardly walk! LOL! Better on Saturday and I was able to walk/run. Took yesterday off and painted. Walked/ran today before the rain started.
About 10 years ago I made my dd a fence painted in her school colors to hold up at football games (D + fence = defense). No one wanted the fence after football season so I've been hanging on to it. I found the fence yesterday and decided to turn it into a Spring fence to hang on our house. I cut out a bunny and a flower, painted them very simply, and glued them on the fence. The glue wasn't dry when I took this picture. I repurposed the fence!

I finished all the unpacking of the seven boxes of possessions I shipped from NY three weeks ago. This was the relatives. Still need to hang the pictures, but the boxes (and loathsome peanuts) are out the door. I did hang the grandfather of my great uncle, not a direct relative, but quite the Victorian swain (thinking 1840s). Upholding my great aunt's tradition of hanging pictures of attractive gentlemen, whether or not relatives. I am starting to understand these things.
Right now, I have a huge pot of mushroom barley soup simmering away to use up leftover stock from a meal a week or so ago. Needs another hour or so. I made bread yesterday, so have the "with its" covered.
As had a bit of a break in the action, followed up on a missing 1099, so have everything I need for taxes. Still need to read something titled "classification system with prognostically relevant subtype discovery". My poor brain! The scary thing is that I am able to read and understand such publications.
Just lovely here with daffodils and cherry trees coming into full bloom. The frogs are singing, but alas, too cloudy to see the Northern Lights. Rats!!!
Some wonderful news. My friend in London who nearly died of sepsis two weeks ago is home and now off on a train ride to Stratford to see As You Like It with friends. We have been friends for decades and so relieved that she pulled through. She has also been doing some gardening and short walks with her dogs. Just a miracle. And someone I did some work with about a dozen or so years ago just survived two rare cancers due to participating in a clinical trial. Another miracle.
So offering up major prayers of Thanksgiving this evening.
I am enjoying having my things with me once again. A bit of a surprise at how much I had missed my treasures, some of which go back two centuries. I have been cleaning up my place as I go along. It's like having a whole new place, and the one I always wanted.

Claire, glad you can enjoy your treasures and especially that your friend is okay. Yesterday I got the very sad news that a dear friend from 40 plus years had died. She had been on Hospice; but since we just texted back and forth two days ago, it came as quite a shock.
I walked over to the fitness center and took a great Boot Camp class. They were concentrating on upper body work today, which is just what I needed. If I can swing it, I'm going to squeeze in a yoga class this evening.
