Congratulations on your new grandbaby, Nan!
I went to Wake Up Yoga this morning. Then since I needed to do something aerobic, and it was mild out (40 degrees), and since I knew DS & roommate were getting ready for a party they're hosting tonight, I volunteered to grab the puppies and take them for a long walk in the park. Very fun and muddy!

Cute photo, Ruth!
My siblings and I took my parents to Broadway. Thought you’d all like Cher’s badass message above. Let’s post our daily exercise and let’s do this! We walked a lot today!

Nan congrats on the grandson and sorry about your other baby.
Falconer, love the pic. That line would be a great title for this thread
Claire, you are top bitch, I mean fit.
This is Sammy's sister it turns out. We plan to have a reunion after Easter.

nan-congrats on new grandson. Im sorry to hear your other dog has ALS.
Claire- wow. You are doing fantastic.
Falconer-great pic. All of you look as if you're having a wonderful time. I love Cher. I love her attitude and her voice
Ruth - your grand dog is growing very quickly.
BTW- I ran a 5k yesterday morning The Dolphins Cancer Challenge and I ran a 5k this morning. I'm headed to work now

Nan congrats on little Max! Sorry about your dog though.
Heidi interesting article about the downhill walking. I was trying to figure out how to get 40 minutes of downhill walking in the mostly prairie flatlands. Of course they mentioned treadmill, so that works.
Lilac I can definitely see the advantage of group exercise. our group here definitely motivate some me even if from afar.
Falconer lovely pic of your family and love the Cher phrase.
We have some spring here on the weekend finally. Yesterday was sunny and 60 to 65. I worked in the yard first. Got in lots of squats pulling grass out of my flower beds. I could definitely feel it by evening. Then I went to the lake and walked. Birds are singing, plenty of ducks out as well as the muskrats swimming around. Today we have rain predicted so I either will skip exercise or need to get it in early. I promised myself I will finish my tax return today.

Thanks everyone. I tried to upload a picture of Max and ended up losing post not how to do it. Pain a bit better today so did RBG workout with Canadian Airforce workout for warm up. Felt great, didn't push too hard due to pain but hard enough. Off to babysit Max this afternoon so mama can rest. My son needs a rest too.
this is my Guinness with ALS. He is so cute.

I finished my taxes this morning, yay! The sun has come out here, but it is still cool and windy. Long walk yesterday, followed by packing boxes for the move. (which is happening April 20th)...More packing today and then we will take a run over to the new place...
Love the Broadway pic, Falconer!

High 70s tomorrow and Tuesday and Wednesday rain and snow!!! Spring time in Colorado!! Got a couple nice walks in today to enjoy the wonderful sunshine and warm weather today - sandal weather - but with Passover less than 2 weeks away, cleaned my ovens, defrosted my freezer, wiped down the extra frig and started cleaning my kitchen frig.
Need to do my self-appraisal and trying to find my past couple years evaluations and have no clue where i put them!!!!
Going to watch a couple episodes of Grace and Frankie with DH later tonight.

Falconer, love the photo and agree with Ms.HeidiHill on tag line. TwoHobbies, asked the question in my Pilates class about QOL with group exercise and majority - almost all agree. I also think participating in group events, like 5&10k runs, century rides, tri sprints, etc.. offers a similar group connection experience. Nan, congratulation on the baby and Brexit is like living in the film Groundhog Day. This Friday, we may see the Thelma & Louise ending, driving over the crash-out cliff!
Have a magnificent Monday!

Twohobbies, I wondered too about the treadmill at the gym. They probably won't put a wedge on the treadmill for me to go downhill and I would look very strange going the opposite way on an incline. I also wondered if it matters if I walked uphill first before going downhill. I may have to settle for taking the cable car up the mountain and walking down.
Karen, you are inspiring me to do some Spring Clean and Sculpt,
Walked the dog up- and downhill this morning.

I have been super busy as usual. I won't bore you ladies with all the details. Keeping my steps up and stretching, all the normal LE crap I have to do everyday. Getting ready for spring and excited to have warmer weather and less rain! I'll catch up and read the 2 pages of post tonight while I flexitouch pump.
I'm getting ready for my first EVER girls weekend with my 2 BFF's! We are going to Edisto this weekend! I'm so excited! This is a huge for me! I never leave the grandkids, DD or DH. I'm always available for them. My girl is going with us. That's the one thing I can't leave behind. We will leave Friday right after my MRI. Apparently you shouldn't tell your RO you hip feels bruised. It doesn't hurt it just feels like its bruised after I sit for more than 30-40 minutes. Which is only when I'm driving. I sit down maybe 2 times day while I'm home and that's to feed my girl . Other than that flexitouch pump is the other time I'm still.
Lymphedivas had a post on Instagram to help name their new spring patterned compression sleeves. They had one sleeve I really liked and I posted what I would call it. THEY CHOSE MY NAME!! I was so surprised! My Instagram is twa6567...here's the screen shots so I can share.

Wow Varga, that's so cool! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your Girls Weekend, you deserve a great one!

Ran a mile on the treadmill when I got home from playing with Charlee. I shared this on FB and thought I should share it here!

Varga, you beat me to the punch. I was going to share that too!
It was sunny & a springy 62 degrees here today. I dog-napped the puppies and took them long a very long, fun walk, after which we all took a little snooze, and then they went home & I went to Dance2Fit. If only I could get inspired to clean the house, 'cause it is looking bad!!

Nan: Congratulations on your sweet Max! So sorry to hear about your Shih tzu.
Varga: Have fun with your friends in Edisto! You deserve it. And love that your name was picked for the sleeve! It's a perfect name for the pattern.
Falconer: Fabulous picture!
Long story short: This past Friday I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. F#*k!!! I've had a couple of episodes during my walks where I've had to stop immediately. On Thursday I mowed and it was horrible. I had to keep stopping because I was exhausted. Called the cardiologist and was able to get an appointment with her PA the next day. EKG showed I had afib. Now I'm on a blood thinner and beta blocker. F#*K. I'm having an echocardiogram this Friday and another EKG in 3 weeks. I was pretty upset in the office and told the PA she might as well told me that I had bc again. She assured me this is not heart disease, rather it's an electrical problem in the heart. That made me feel a little better. Also, I am to continue walking/running so that's good news. Going to walk tomorrow and see how it goes!

Wonderland- I'm so sorry!! That just sucks! I hate taking medication! I hope you get some clear answers with the echocardiogram!

wonderland-AFib sucks. We are so focused on breast cancer and side effects from the treatments we forget the other stuff lurking in the background. As we grow older significant changes to our body can occur and usually does. I can appreciate your frustration. Hoping for good results from your EKG. F**k!
0 -
Aw Wonderland, that is crappy news. I actually know several people who are dealing with Afib and are doing very well (living normal lives, exercising, traveling, doing whatever they want to do). Hopefully the results of the EKG will give you a clear path to follow. You should maybe think of hiring someone for all that mowing. I don't think mowing that much land in your hot/humid weather is such a good idea for middle aged people, with or without medical issues!
*I am now off to POUND.

Oh no, Wonderland! What Jo says, and as we get further and further out from diagnosis, this becomes more and more the case.
I got in a fantastic spring run yesterday between showers, so got no more wet than a few raindrops.
My bicycle rack arrived, but my rug is missing at the moment. USPS tracking says it's been delivered, but it's not here. I did a bit of research and I decided to wait a couple of days because sometimes things go awry. Anyway, I have the whole building staff looking for it. Wish me luck.
As for our health, exercise is probably the most important controllable, and yes, it requires discipline. The silver lining is that I almost always feel better as I get into my walk/run/ski/cycle/hike. This is even true of the crunches I do each morning, though I can't say quite the same thing about the weights. For those, it takes a good look in the mirror and imagining what I would look like if I didn't do this.
I think that rug-hauling is worth a couple of points.... Hoping to report on that soon. - Claire

As the saying goes, Getting old is not for wimps! Looks like afib is also genetic. My brother just told me that he has had it for 8 years. He was diagnosed the same age as I am now. Don't know why he didn't tell my sisters and me. Found out my beautiful Mother also had it.
Just got in from my walk. I didn't walk quite as fast as I usually do plus I decided not to run. But guess what: It felt great! I finished and I'm sweaty but not exhausted. Yea!!!

that does suck Wonderland, but glad you got a walk in!!
My exercise is still mostly packing and moving boxes, but today was a beautiful day so I snuck out for a hike on the trails around my office. Glad I did that: temperature is supposed to drop by 20 or more degrees tomorrow and there are rumors of snow again by the weekend!

Wonderland I am sorry about the Afib, but I feel like you will conquer it. I understand it sucks to get another diagnosis though. I haven’t seen you swear so much so I know you are angry!
Vargas so cool they picked your design name. Those are so pretty.
We have had spring so I am getting a walk every day. Back to 39 degrees tomorrow though.

Mind if I join you all? I’ve been lurking since I was doing chemo, and now I’m finally feeling that I can keep up enough to post. I am 6 weeks post-op. Waiting to start rads in the next few weeks. I exercised regularly before dx, and then totally stopped everything. Partly because of chemo SEs and partly because of depression/anxiety. 2 weeks ago I bought a Fitbit and have been exercising (mostly walking and elliptical) and getting my steps in.
I find my TEs make it hard to do anything too vigorous because it’s uncomfortable when they move too much. I’m also worried about lymphedema and haven’t gotten back into strength training yet because I’m afraid I’ll screw something up and develop LE.
I did want to ask if anyone knows if the exercise minutes the Fitbit tracks actually counts toward the 150 minutes per week recommended. I find I’ll go for a brisk walk and the Fitbit will track it as exercise.

fritz-I don't know anything about Fitbit. I love exercise. The key is to keep moving. I am not directing this towards people who had serious side effects from surgery, chemo, RADS or other types of treatment . Example: you walk 15 minutes today, tomorrow increase duration and frequency or climb 20 steps one day and gradually increase. Each person is different. For some individuals it could be something as simple as walking to your mailbox and back. The next day walk to your mailbox twice. You can increase your activity level in increments. 6 weeks post op might be too much for upper extremity strengthening because of the TEs. What stops you from working on lower extremities? I think it's important to think outside the box. Try not to become discouraged. You will get where you want to go.

Wonderland sorry about the Afib, keep exercising, best thing you can do. I had physio and exericses with her today.

Welcome, Fritz! I love my Fitbit! I always have personal exercise 'goals' as to the amount of time I want to spend in 'official' exercise a week, and the Fitbit can tell me how many steps I actually got in any particular class. I also use it to make sure that I get the 10,000 recommended steps each day. But, make your own goals, meet them and work up to where you want to be. When I didn't dare do much upper body, I concentrated on the legs and butt & went down a pants size without even trying!! And walking DOES count as aerobic exercise!!
This is an actual, not made up, announcement:

Wonder - sorry to hear about the Afib. MY DH has it if I remember correctly. So far it hasn't caused any real concern. My late mother and her mother were both extremely healthy. I never imagined that I would have any health concerns - Breast cancer and now kidney disease and MGUS - so far the kidneys and the MGUS aren't causing any trouble except for extra blood draws and doctor visits. As long as things stay stable I won't complain.
Blizzard warnings for tomorrow afternoon till Thursday at noon - it was near 80 yesterday and today!!! Weather peeps are saying snow probably won't stick to the roads, though 4- 8" predicted as well as 60mph winds. It's supposed to start out as rain in the morning and then turning to snow in the afternoon. As much as I enjoy the occasional extra day off, I really hope its not bad enough for a snow day - between the snow day in March and the strike, too many things have been cancelled or re-scheduled. I have a busy day tomorrow starting with a staffing at 7:00am and ending with a 504 meeting starting at 3:00 - in between I have kids to see . and 1:1 meeting with my supervisor who returned from maternity lave last week. Also need to start working on my self-appraisal and End of Year data. This year, it is stressing me out!!!
Ruth - hope ND is not in the way of the storm. Funny picture of tornado drill being cancelled due to snow!!!
