Thanks ladies. My friend Ginger was a nurse and did some in-depth research for me when I was diagnosed. She was a no-nonsense, never-feel- sorry-for-yourself kind of gal; and so she really LIVED as good of a quality of life as possible and was interested in what was going on in the lives of others right up to the end.

I'm sorry about your friend ruth. The only time I was in death valley was in the spring during the rain. Amazing to see the desert in bloom. Thanks for the photo

Ruth, I am very sorry for your loss...
We went out to a work event last night after a very hectic day, including my first visit with new MO here in my new town (that went very well, much to my relief!)...anyway, the event was downtown and I always seem to get a bit lost in downtown Santa Fe...(I will learn it before the 'girls' come to visit, I promise!). We had found free parking a few blocks away but hubby and I got a bit disoriented walking back to our car and walked a fair bit...(all those adobe buildings look alike: that's my story and I am sticking to it!). sadly, with my meetings and errands and appointment that was all the exercise I got yesterday! Taking a long walk before work this morning.

I did go to yoga last night, which was just what I needed! I went to a pilates class and walked this morning. Tomorrow we fly home so now I need to clean up around here, pack etc. and then spend the rest of the day outside.

ruth- I met my new PCP today. Overall, it went very well. He is very knowledgeable about cancer and side effects of cancer treating drugs. My perception of his negatives were minimal so I'm focusing on the positives. I'm getting ready to run a couple miles. Even though it is hotter than heck today. 85 degrees and humid. I want cooler weather.

Just finished dinner and so I am going to watch some of the local news and then do my workout

Ruth: I am so sorry to hear about the death of your good friend. It's never easy.
Karen: Enjoy your break. You deserve some down time.
Octo: Glad your visit with you new MO went well. I've had lots of exercise the same way you did last night
Jo: After so many phone calls for a new pcp, sounds like you got the right one. I don't envy your heat and humidity.
Mommy: Have a good workout tonight!
Unlike Jo, we are having fabulous, dry, low humidity, perfect temperature weather. It's the kind that I conjure up in my mind during of the heat of the summer. My walk/run was beyond delightful today.

wonderland- I don't know what happened during the past two hours but the temperature has dropped by about 10 degrees. It's windy with a slight chill in the air. It was a fabulous run. Any new artwork?

Did 1.4 miles in my workout tonight

mommyof2-Great workout.

Ruth, very sorry to read the passing of your friend, whom from what you said, was a wonderful friend and lovely person. Jo, glad this new doc is a comfortable fit, you too Octo. Wonderland, like your Easter makings!
I've been working on the new Bodyblance/Flow release and have delivered half of it and hope to deliver all of it for my more local Saturday class. I'm letting go of one balance class due to drive to Folkstone 3 nights a week was too much, as this is the road to the channel and will be choked with lorries due to Brexit. This political mess (to say the least) creates a massive negative impact to daily life here in the hinterlands of Kent. Upside is I've gotten a Pilates class earlier on same day that will get me home to have dinner with dh, so work/life balance coming more into focus. Off I go to my older populations class - Move it or Lose It, then Pilates and this evening, down to Folkestone for BodyBalance/Flow. Have an active and smooth sailing Thursday everyone!

lilacblue- I enjoy listening to the brexit talks. I love how the British politicians can say something totally deplorable about another person but it said in such a Charming manner. Brexit is a huge mess . LOL

I was up and down on a step stool today washing the bathroom walls.

Opening Day Miami Marlins. Loving it. Go Fish. Yea. We have a horrible team but there is always Hope on Opening Day. The smell of beer, hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts and pretzels. Last year, all those smells made me sick. I couldn't even tolerate a bite of pretzel. A year later, I have a full head of hair and ate a pretzel smothered in mustard. I have never eaten hotdogs and peanuts but I love the smells. I walked 2 miles to the ballpark.

Fun! Nothing like a day/night at the ballpark!
We made it home with no problems. DS told us to stop by; so we did, and he introduced us to his new puppy. He was too sad without one so first went to the Humane Society which didn't have any younger dogs available (he wanted a dog of not more than 2 years old hoping to not repeat the sad 'death of a pet' process for a long while). He then saw an ad of someone looking for good homes for a litter of puppies born to their Boxer (the neighboring Husky jumped the fence and.....opps, baby Boxsys were the result!). Astra, the puppy, is only two months old; very sweet, very big......she won't be a lap dog for long!
Once we finally got home, we threw our things in the door & headed out to exercise. DH to his gym, and me to Step and then Yoga.

What a cute face! Love the coloring.0

ruth-Astra is a cutie. She is big puppy.

Won't be long before Astra will be taking you for a walk/run. So happy for all of you, but especially Astra!

Ruth - Astra is so cute!!! I have said for years, no more giant dogs after Mischa - she weighs 125#. I want a dog who I can walk, not who walks me. We've had giants since 2005 when we got 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs - 2 puppy siblings. I've also said no puppies! I guess time will tell. I want a dog I can walk and run with (not that I run that often) so maybe 50#.
Jo - I don't follow sports, but I did see that the 28th was opening day for the Rockies - but don't if that was home or away - and I don't know how they did!!
Three great walking days in a row - now work is going to interfere - I've managed over 24K/day the past 3 days!

What a love Astra is! Suspect that she will be quite the handful and continue to be a lap dog. Your son has chosen well, and you get to up your exercise game!

Went to Aqua Zumba & then for a walk in the park with DS (who took the rest of the week off) and the dogs in the park. Astra is doing well. She sleeps through the night and walks very nicely on a leash already. I can tell she is part Husky because she climbed each snow pile and tried to dig a little nest for herself.

Astra is cute.

Ruth - so sorry for the loss of a long time friend . New pup is adorable! Who'da thunk a boxer and husky could create such a beautiful thing, huh?
I've been off the exercise wagon for a couple of months due to double biceps tendinitis. The first of this year I joined a new Monday evening class called Primal: Strength, which is a challenging, heavier weight, fewer reps 60 minute class. Was going great (in addition to my usual T/Th body sculpt and turbo-kick classes). Then one night I blew it. My instructor knows I'm strong and does push me, which is fine as I tend to settle into a comfortable zone without the nudge. This night, however, was apparently too much. It was a lot of bench press type lifting, overhead presses and upright rows. Two days later my upper arms/shoulders were so sore I couldn't even cross my arms. A week or two later I went to the doctor and got sent to physical therapy twice weekly. That's been nearly 2 months ago. It's much better but still have some inflammation on both sides which causes impingement pain, left is worse than right.
Anyway, I realized after being away from the gym for a week or so that I'd been feeling pretty burned out with not getting home until 6 or 7pm 3 nights a week because of working out and having choir rehearsal from 7-8pm a fourth night. Took the opportunity to just stay away for a bit and enjoy getting home on time and having 4 of 5 weeknights spent at home. Woke up a bit early today and decided it was time to at least make an attempt to get back to it. Did 60 minutes on the treadmill consisting of 30 minutes walk at about 3.4mph, then 30 minutes of alternating 60 second 3.4 mph walk and 60 second 5.0 mph run. Worked out very well and am tickled to realize I actually ran for 15 minutes, woot woot!! We'll see how my body's feeling later today and tomorrow. Also did 20 minutes on what I call the arm bicycle, a machine I've seen other folks using occasionally but am now personally familiar with due to PT. I'm at my heaviest ever and not liking it. Would really like to get back to my early morning workout rather than after work, but it's REALLY hard to get back into that 5:30am alarm for a 6am workout!
I don't visit here often lately, mostly because I'm in front of a computer monitor all day every day and it's the last thing I want to do after I get home, but do love catching up on the last 2-3 pages when I do check in. I see many familiar names and some new ones too. Hi to all the 'Sisterhood of the traveling BC friends' group! Looking forward to Sante Fe! DH and I will travel to CO for a wedding in early June, then my Santa Fe trip, and next April (2020), we're looking forward to a Viking River Cruise in Europe with our best friends.
A big welcome to all the newer ladies - this is an awesome thread. Total support and no judgement regardless of fitness level. Whether you're a newbie to the fitness thing or an old pro this is a great group!
Is anyone on a good bra shopping thread here for us double reconstruction gals? My Nordstrom bras are wearing out and the nearest store is on the other side of the state. I'd love to find some good brand names/styles for the shallower / wider implant profile (compared to normal ta-tas) and perhaps find some place closer to home to get them.
Have a great weekend all!

sweetandspecial-. Double biceps tendonitis is nasty. Be very careful you don't re-injure yourself.
I'm headed out the door in about 15 minutes. I'm going to run two to three miles tonight. I've had 3 days of heavy rains. Today was hot and humid and now it seems to be cooling off with a thunderstorm in the background. I need to get my butt in gear. Have a wonderful weekend.
Tomorrow is my 60th birthday and I'm going to take it easy. I have several family members coming from out of town to celebrate my birthday and help finish the preparations for my niece's wedding.

Sweet: Double biceps tendinitis sounds HORRIBLE and PAINFUL! Glad it's getting better with PT. I've had tendinitis in both wrists (at different times). So painful. Tried the shots but ended up having surgery on both of them. Sounds like you had a great workout this morning.
Jo: Happy Birthday Tomorrow! Welcome to the 60s!
Walked/ran this evening.

Hi Sweet! Youch on the tendinitis! Glad you went to PT. Don't overdo now that you are feeling better.
Happy Birthday, Jo! The 60s are awesome!
I decluttered a closet and walked for 45 minutes on the treadmill today. I'm subbing all next week so need to get the house organized!

For any cyclists on this thread, I took a look at my bicycle saddle today and discovered it was loose, so no wonder my lady parts were beyond sore. I tightened and adjusted, so feel much better than recently. The most glorious spring day and pure joy to be out there in the sunshine.
In other news, I finished my taxes. Just need to review prior to submitting. Was nice to learn that there is a standard business deduction for those of us who are self-employed. Especially since it eliminates paperwork and needing to track receipts for items such as internet access and office supplies. A boon as much more generous than itemizing. So glad that I did HR Block software, though will say that it was helpful to have done the IRS forms in the past.
I will amend Ruthbru's statement about the 60s to say "but only if you make it a priority to exercise and stay fit". Because it's no joke if you can't get out there and kick it. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. - Claire

Happy birthday JO - welcome to the 60s!!!
Sweet - hope you are recovering from the tendonitis - I've had it in my wrists so I can't imagine how painful it must be in the biceps. I wear tank tops - bras since recovering from bilat - but I have very small implants so don't need the support. Hope you can find a comfortable bra.
Spring break is coming to an end......Sweet dreams

Claire, I stand amended. If you stay active, engaged, and willing to try new things; then the 60s are awesome!

Welcome to the 60's, Jo! It's a fun time. Ruth, Astra looks like our Sammy from behind except for the tail. Love the pics. Sammy pulls me uphill and makes me run downhill. We met a woman the other day who bikes 30K with her huskies. I'll have to see how I can do that, too. Sweet, hope the tendonitis calms down completely soon.
I already got my refund. It's a great incentive to file early.
DD and DH went for a helicopter ride while I took the dog for a walk. They flew over Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Italy while I got to know the neighborhood a bit more.
