Wonderland, sorry about the AFib. My mom had it as well as my brother. It was managed for both of them, for my brother more aggressively than for my mom.

Fritz, I would take anything Fitbit calls exercise. I think the default setting is 40 minutes a day. I go for 10,000 steps as a daily goal and call it a rest day if I have less unless I got my 40 minutes of Fitbit-defined exercise.

Today I put the leash around me and biked in the neighborhood with the granddoggy chasing after me (he's technically DD's dog). DD is working full time this week at the pet store. I will try this again tomorrow in the park where he loves to harrass the ducks. We think he is a duck toller mix.

I have finally found a new oncologist and cancer facility. It is part of a major teaching Hospital. The oncologist I was assigned received excellent reviews and has authored a paper on her2+ treatment. My first appointment is next Tuesday afternoon. I'm hopeful everything will go well. My former facility was excellent and the longest wait time I had for a physician was 10 minutes. I believe the sheer size of this facility will probably generate much longer wait times. It was easier to find an oncologist than a PCP on my insurance plan. Go. Figure. I have read several reports with emphasis on the shortage of PCPs; especially in rural areas. I live in a major city and my friends have all reported similar problems.

Just back from my Wed Yin Yoga class...it is like getting a deep tissue massage with the long held poses to release....but the past couple of weeks have involved a LOT of being on your chest/belly/twisting while 3/4 on chest, etc...clearly not an instructor who has thought about BC or implants despite being 50+ y.o. There are other women with LE sleeves on so while I have never talked about it..assume BC is a possibility. This rant ends and it has no where to go.

Beautiful low 70's in Tidewater Virginia...I want to go for a walk, but have to wait for the pollen bloom to pass...my red Prius look like puke!

nothing for me the past couple of days and just quickly speed reading the pst couple of pages. Alice , so sorry to hear about the a fib but judging from your reaction you’re going to f***ing kick ass!

TE’s kinda suck for comfort level during upper body work. I started easing back into upper body at around 10 weeks post surgery, I think. Seems like a long time ago now. I had mine for 9 months and exchanged for implants on my 52nd birthday in 2013. You can do this Winking

Been working long hours and feeling burned out but this too shall pass. Plan to be T the gym by 6am tomorrow for some invigorating treadmill ‘wogging’.

    Luv to all

Karen- did you end up getting a weather day off from work? I had a flat tire today. So I took it to my mechanic. It took them all day to replace 2 tires. My mechanic is only a mile from my house so I walked back and forth. I wasn't able to take my dog to his boarding facility. It's a wonderful place. He has a huge room and he has access to outdoor activities. My pet sitter is staying at the house with the other six dogs and three cats. Ted bit a friend of mine approximately 2 years ago. Since then, he has received intensive training but my friends are still nervous. I always err on the side of caution. So I have to get up at 6 tomorrow morning drop off Ted the Retriever and head out of town. I'm looking forward to my niece's wedding but I will be so glad when it's over with. I've already spent an hour-and-a-half loading up my little Honda CRV. Tomorrow afternoon my 4 sisters,my Mom and 2 nieces and great-nieces are having a spa afternoon. It should be a lot of fun. Friday I'm going to get in a run.

Im too tired to comment about everyone's posts, but I read each one and said a prayer for all of you struggling, and a prayer of Thanksgiving for those with joyous things to share.

I got in 2 HIIT workouts on mon and Tues, which was good because I need to play taxi driver the rest of the week.

DS is starting a new consulting gig tomorrow, 1.5 hr drive each way on country roads. At least it will be cash in, but I will have to pick up some more parenting duties. I hope he finds a job close by soon, for his sake (and mine)

I see oncologist tomorrow. I am really trying to determine how much risk I am putting myself in by taking an AI and having increased blood sugar, cholesterol and significantly decreased bone density (and side effects of treatment for osteoporosis) vs not taking AI.

I will ask more questions tomorrow. If I can I will walk around the hospital campus before jumping back into Mom mode!

2Fun- you have a lot on your mind. Plus some big decisions to make regarding your treatment. After speaking with your oncologist I hope you will find it easier to make a decision. Life is rarely ever black and white. It's filled with so many other shades. Whichever decision you decide upon I hope it's one you feel at peace with.

2Fun, maybe ask about switching to Tamoxifen. One of my friends with osteoporosis got an endocrinologist involved from the start, and with his input that's what was decided on as best for her situation.

    Enjoy the wedding, Jo!

Karen, quit sending us your weather!!!!!

hey, Wonderland, I’m sorry to hear about the Afib. My dad has had it for years and took blood thinners, until recently when he had some internal bleeding- he’s now scheduled for a procedure called The Watchman. He’s going on May 1- so I’ll let you know how it goes. It puts a net like thing in the left ventricle- the spot where Afib is a problem. Good luck to you and yes keep exercising

Wonderland, my mom had AFib as well as my brother. It is manageable (mom's case) and/or can be cured (brother's case). It was some time ago since they did a procedure on my brother (15 years?) at the Cleveland Clinic.

Jo, I don't know how you handle so many pets. That boarding facility sounds great.

2Fun, I switched to Tamoxifen and felt much better. It also strengthens bones if you are postmenopause. But I did 4.5 years of AIs. I wanted to do 5 but side effects warranted a change. I do feel good about lasting that long because Tamoxifen comes with its own set of problems (endometrial changes) and I have had to keep reducing the dose which I may not have been able to do if I had not done the AIs beforehand. This is all so complicated! Get a second opinion. I have found it helpful to seek second/third opinions at every stage because things are not static.

I taught the granddog to run on a leash attached to me while I biked. We will practice in the park today. Then it's salsa tonight.

    Heidi

I have had 3 years of AI and am now switching to Tamoxifen due to AI side effects. I haven't started yet and have been doing a lot of research on "lower" doses than the 20 standard. Have seen 10 and as low as 5...you "had to keep reducing the dose"...what are you taking?

Trying to get as much info as possible before my visit with MO next month after my 3 month holiday to reset before switch from Arimidex to Tamox.

    Thanks, TT

TT, ask about genetic testing. I am an ultra rapid metabolizer of Tamoxifen so I went down to 10 mg and now to 5. Nice that you are getting a 3 month holiday. Heaven.

I went to Zumba this morning. It started snowing like crazy about noon & is still at it. I did go back to another dance class this evening because:

    1. I only live a couple blocks from the gym so figured I could make it back & forth in one piece.

    2. I am logging all my food in an attempt to get rid of the vacation pounds, we went out to lunch so if I hadn't done more exercise, I would have only had 250 calories to eat for the rest of the day!

Today was my last day filling in for a paternity leave.....The assistant principal made a point to thank me and compliment me. A short time later, the principal was sitting in my chair and had a bamboo plant to say thank you. She then asked if I would be around for awhile. I asked her is she meant the district and I said yeah 3 or 4 more years. She then went on to say if they need someone again, they will ask for me. I'm one of 3 float School Psychologists for the district - This is the first time I've covered and had such a nice send off. It really made me feel valued.

Then after work, the school nurse called me - the principal asked her to call me to ask if I could come in tomorrow morning to help - a former student had died - I generally don't work Fridays but said I would come in for a couple hours. The nurse and I worked together over 30 years ago at another school (1987 - 89). Yes we are that old!!!! The nurse called the guy I was covering for to get my cell - I do give my personal cell to people to reach me, but I'm particular who I give it to. My district phone number is only voice mail. I am on the district crisis team, so if it was M-Th, I could have been called out. My boss will comp me (or pay, but I'd rather have the time). The district crisis team got 3 other requests this afternoon for tomorrow, but the emails usually don't give any information. Wonder what is going on!!! All I know about this student is that he would have been a junior and previously went to the school - I don't even have the student's name. I know there have been a couple suicides in neighboring districts recently. So sad.

Passover is in 8 days. The first sedar is next Friday night. My DD#1 and SIL get here next Thursday morning. I need to finish cleaning the kitchen on Sunday, plan a menu and start cooking! I am hosting both sedars, but I only have 1 guest the first night and just us the second night - DH, me, DD#1 and SIL. So really don't need all that much food. I keep my menus from year to year so I can reference them for ideas - this is the one holiday that I do very little baking. I'll make 1 or 2 different types of passover cookies - chocolate chip and maybe another type. Lots of fruit, veggies, chicken, fish and beef, quinoa and potatoes.

    Sweet dreams

I had to cancel tentative plans for a sedar this year because my move got moved until right in the middle of it all (we are moving on the 20th! ack! So much to do!). I will make matzoh ball soup and roast a chicken for Friday night and perhaps hubby and I will say a few lines about redemption and freedom and justice to each other.... I always feel a little 'homesick' for my childhood this time of year: growing up, Passover was my favorite holiday and yes, the food definitely had something to do with that, but of course, for me it was really about family..there is no time of year I miss my Mom more than at Passover ...

But that's ok, it will be 'next year' before I know it, and I've already told friends and extended family to mark their calendars for a huge Passover celebration in my new home in Santa Fe in 2020...

As for exercise, it has been mostly about packing boxes. Hoping to get a hike in this weekend, when I am not finishing up the packing!

We dodged the storm, getting about 4-5 inches of snow (as opposed to 24 inches about 100 miles south!). I went to Aqua Zumba this morning. Since it was relatively mild, and I knew the puppies would love to play in the fresh, white snow, I snatched them for a fun walk in the park.

My big news is that after a week of searching, THEY FOUND MY RUG!!! It was here all the time, but had been mismarked. It was also a bit smaller than I thought it would be as was folded up in a box. It is safely on my floor now and looks fab.

Another worry finished. Not just the money, but a design that wouldn't be that easy to find.

It works perfectly in my space and ties everything together. Will steam out the folds later if I need to. - Claire

    Very nice, Claire!

Went to Wake Up Yoga, walked on the treadmill (while finishing a book) and, since it was a gorgeous day, I volunteered to take the dogs for a walk in the park while their masters did Saturday errands. I'm trying to catch up on some paperwork tonight.

Ran 2.5 miles this morning, and took the dog for a 45 minute walk after dinner. Worked out 6/7 days this week. Hoping I can keep it up during rads which should start next week.

Played one on one basketball against the little DS, which was a tie, and then he beat me in four out of five obstacle races around our yard. I actually TRIED to win, but I am slow and old. He’s almost 6.

My 17 year old DS and I leave for Santa Barbara on Tuesday morning. Yay! Though I just tried on my swimsuit. Boo! Anyway, hope to get long walks on the beach and a hike in the mountains.

We had a nice sunny day yesterday so DH and I went on a trail hike. Today the weather will not be good so it's a good day to do weights. I have decided way too late to watch Game of Thrones, LOL, so I can do the weights while I finish season 1.

Have fun in Santa Barbara, Falconer. Ruth, glad you only got a few inches of snow. Claire, glad you found your rug and that it didn't get stolen. Welcome to Fritzmylove.

The onl spring sign we saw on the trail yesterday was these flowers blooming everywhere.
