Back from our 3 month RV trip, and getting settled back in our home. Yesterday I did my classical stretch for the first time in forever, it felt so good. I had brought a set of DVD's with me on the trip, but while they played perfectly well at home, my computer decided not to recognize the DVD drive on the trip - and with limited internet in a lot of places, I was too cranky to try and find a solution. Hoping to become more active again that we are home - perhaps a walk in the woods before it rains?

Karen--are you a vegetarian? I am as well. Your Easter menu sounds awesome! I just finished a BodyPump class. It's a bit cold and rainy here today, so not sure if I'll get a walk in or not.

Karen- thanks for the veggie recipes. Even though I cook vegetarian all the time I enjoy new recipes. I eat fish one to two times a month now so I'm no longer a vegetarian. When I was diagnosed with cancer I made a conscious effort to add fish to my diet. My friends are not happy about a vegetarian Passover. Of course they didn't like my suggestion to cook dinner yourself. I'm still recuperating from my niece's wedding and I don't want to spend all day cooking briskets and chicken. I do love cooking and entertaining but I am tired. Plus I have a 10K Saturday morning.

kec - Nope, I'm not a vegetarian - love my beef and chicken!! and of course fish. The dishes I noted above are sides that I make. I'm cooking for both sedars, and have way too much food. DH smoked a brisket, 1/2 turkey breast and 2 whole chickens. I cooked meatballs, whole roast chicken and whole turkey breast tonight. Some of the food is for the week and some in the freezer for later. Tomorrow I need to make the gefilte fish, going to make a vegetable soup, mashed potatoes, potato kugel, asparagus, passover cookies - I'm sure I won't have to make much during the week as far as main courses!!

My DD#1 and SIL arrived this morning.

    Sweet dreams

Falconer, thanks for the beautiful YOU grin, lovely blue sky & palm tree photo. Nice to know you were grad student at UCSB, and this transplanted California dreaming girl can feel your happiness - hikes - your glorious fun with ds and friends. Happy holidays indeed!

Falconer, I feel the same way as LilacBlue about seeing UCSB related photos! I went there for a while, though I ended up transferring and got my degrees elsewhere. However, I have colleagues there and am there every now and then for work. When I go for work I wonder why I didn't stay there for my entire college time! (but I was young and sort of boy focused back then and the boy in question was elsewhere....sigh).

Movers show up at nine am tomorrow! So it is time to get off the couch and start packing! I had thought I would at least make some Passover foods for tonight even though I am not having a formal Sedar this year, but I forgot that the kitchen will be all packed up! Maybe on Sunday...

Happy Pesach and/or a very Happy Easter and/or a great spring weekend to all!

It's a beautiful spring weekend here. I went to Aqua Zumba, stopped & purchased two coffees and a lemonade, grabbed the grandpuppies, and met my friend, her Husky, her granddaughter, and her Husky at the Dog Park. We've gone to the dogs!

Keeping busy during the week and got in 121 minutes of exercise M-F. I am doing my stair climbing routine at work in addition to walking a little after work. We are to have a beautiful spring weekend so I can really up my count once I get my coffee and surfing done.

Fritzmylove, I am also in Chicagoland-northern suburbs. I didn’t love the surprise snow Sunday but thankfully spring recuperated. Ruth I say pack away the winter stuff as a sign of defiance!

Falconer, I think if I had gone to UCSB I would have not left. Oh,and the wildflowers I posted appear to be bloodroot. I didn’t know but searched on wildflowers in our county forest preserves. Turns out we have marsh marigolds too, so I will have to look for those.

Claire I look forward to seeing tulip ride photos.

I ran my 10K this morning. It kicked my butt. I just wasn't in good enough shape. I completed it but I definitely felt it more than previous races. This is my takeaway. Even though I've been running consistently 2 to 5 miles but mostly around the 3 Mile average; I definitely felt the six mile run. I know better and I'm going to get into better shape starting Monday. I need to finish cooking my vegetarian lasagna for dinner tonight. For those of you celebrating Passover or Easter happy holidays to one and all.

No dedicated exercise today, but did walk around the zoo for a few hours while pulling my 6 and 4 year old around in a wagon.

    Jo, vegetarian lasagna sounds delicious.

Finishing a 10K is a big accomplishment, Jo. Congratulations!

I went to Wake Up Yoga this morning. I brought a puppy along with me to watch a college baseball game so got some extra walking in. (DS was doing yard-work so I volunteered to get her out of the way, as she'd be overly 'helpful' if given the chance.) I am doing the easy ham & cheesy potatoes menu for the Easter dinner, but did just make a cherry cheesecake & an orange/pineapple fruit salad to go along with the meal.

Ruth love you with the dogs. Jo, you are awesome and in pretty good shape for finishing, even when out of your comfort zone - I salute you! Octo, good on you for completing the packing. Weather has been delightful, sunny, clear and warm. Taught Pilates this morning at the spa, DH cooked a big Easter brunch and this evening dh & ds went to our favorite Nepalese restaurant. Given up chocolate for lent, so the dark chocolate coconut found this morning with my name on it has been a bit of brown haven. Day off tomorrow, so taking the high-speed to London with ds for lunch and take in the Tate Modern. Happy Holiday!

well, the move is half over, yay! We are relaxing after unpacking most of the kitchen, a major accomplishment. I did get my exercise today, walking on the Santa Fe Rail Trail, which runs very close to my new home. Here are a few pics.....

    Love these, Octogirl!!!

I did 41 miles of cycling through tulip fields and farmland yesterday. Quads protested, so in revenge, I cycled 21 miles today along local trails.

Happy Easter everyone!!! Rack of lamb with emmer farro and wild rice pilaf with shallots and oyster mushrooms (gathered during Thursday evening's run), asparagus, carrots, and rhubarb awaits.

Just reordered the farro and emmer flour from Bluebird Farms in the Methow Valley. Wonderful products, and I enjoy supporting such ventures, even if not cheap. - Claire

    Nice pictures, Octo!

Looking forward to some tulip pictures, Claire.

We had a nice Easter. I did an exercise DVD after people left and I had cleaned up.

Woohoo, Jo, on the 10K! Wow, Claire, that is almost 100K in 2 days! Love the pics, Octo. Cute pups, Ruth. Enjoy the Tate, Lilac.

Did a bike ride with DH in a nature preserve. They closed off some trails for bikers. Annoying but still beautiful. It felt like summer.

New in this thread and pretty new to this whole thing, less than 2 months since diagnosis. Funny, isn't it, how much it can mess with self-image? I've long thought of myself as very very healthy and in reasonably good shape. Right now it's a month since I've been to the gym, (was also out of town for 3 weeks in the meantime) and I'm 5 days past lumpectomy.

Two days after surgery I started again with daily abs/core exercises. Today I picked up some light dumbbells for biceps curls and overhead presses. Felt good to move a little weight. Later this afternoon I'll get a short walk.

Welcome MountainMia! For less than a week out of surgery with 3 nodes removed, I get that you are savvy with working out, yet have you had your week post op check and green light for exercising? I've found, the key is to build up gradually. Don't feel that you always have to do more than yesterday. Some days you'll have more energy than others. HeidiHill, feeling summer'ish here too, and feel the heart from the photo. Claire, good on ya and Octo, well done and great photos. Falconer, found the article interesting and comments as well. Wonderland, how you doing ? Heart

Was warm and sunny in London on Easter Monday. The Tate was busy, and so big, the crowds seems much less than they are. Mid-day, took ds to train for him to head back to uni and I had Pilates at 1pm. My other community classes (Pink Pilates. older populations exercise and yoga for cancer) are still on holiday. Thursday, dh and I are for a few days in Portugal. I'm liking this week thus far!Winking

Hi LilacBlue. Thanks for your comments and concern. My post-op checkup isn't until 5/6, but my written instructions allow for weights up to 15 lbs, way too much for me right now! I'm staying within physical comfort for everything, not going beyond a feeling of light stretch. And yes, energy is highly variable!

Ah Portugal, on my list for exploring. Perhaps next year... :)

MountainMia, welcome! Wow I am impressed with your exercise! I was flat out exhausted for a full 9 days after my lumpectomy. :). Be sure to rest when you need to, your body is healing.

4 miles today on the elliptical, and I spent the afternoon deep cleaning the inside of my mini van. I'm always shocked at how gross it gets after a midwest winter with 2 young kids!

15 pounds is a lot, MountainMia. I don't think I was allowed to lift above 5lbs for 6 weeks post-op. Crazy how different doctors are. Core workouts 2 days after surgery! I'm impressed!! It does feel so good to get back into an exercise routine after a break.

Yep, Fritzmylove, 15 pounds IS a lot, way too much. The weights I used today are 6.6 pounds. It felt good at the time but now I think I overdid it. :/ Tomorrow I'll lay low, lesson learned.
