Thanks everyone for your good wishes for SIL - his surgery went well - his gallbladder was full of gall stones. DD kept us updated all through the day via texts and then we spoke to her at dinner time and we face time with SIL for a couple minutes. We are all hoping that this solves everything. I ordered dinner for my daughter from a place she likes to eat at - it is near their house and by where SIL grew up - it felt so nice, when I said the order was for my daughter and her name - the person who answered the phone asked me how the surgery went. SIL's parents also grew up in the area where they live, so the family goes back over 65 years in the same area.

I'm wired tonight - been up since 4:15am and now its 10:30 - going to have to crawl into bed soon and hope I fall asleep.

Everyone stay safe, warm and healthy.

Good morning Yes, I finally went to bed at 10:50 and woke up at 4:10. Made my tea to take to work - I use an insulated tumbler and it needs to cook a bit before I can put the lid on or I scald my tongue with the straw and now using my Cubii. I wish I could sleep later but 5-6 hours is all I manage. If I try to go back to sleep, I keep waking up every 5-10 minutes to see if its time to get up - I really need to be up 5:15 to 5:30 so I just get up early instead of getting frustrated and enjoy quiet time.

Everyone stay safe, warm and healthy

Karen, glad your SIL's surgery went well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

    Welcome, Jinx!

Ran errands yesterday then 30 mins on treadmill. New gel insoles helped the foot pain but my ankle didn't want to do more time so I listened and stopped.

Doing an in-person visit with mom today. We will be masked and separated by plexiglass screen but still beats a window visit on cell phone shivering in the cold.

Badger, I am happy that you can see your mom's in person. That's still a no-go here so we continue having weekly Zoom meetings with our 95 year old friend. I am so hoping that will be lifted by her birthday next month!!

I am off to walk around the track at my fitness center. I'm hoping a couple of my Wednesday Walking friends show up to keep me company. Zumba tonight. Since it will be the balmy temperature of 9 above, we'll take the grandpuppies out for a little walk this afternoon.

Karen, my husband had gall bladder attacks for a decade before finally mentioning it to his doctor--he kept blowing me off, saying it was the water or some other stupid reason. The night before his surgery, he had an attack, had the surgery the next morning and lo and behold, his gall bladder had three stones each the size of a golf ball. He felt far better the night of his surgery than he had the night before with that last attack.

So I'm hoping your SIL gets the same kind of immediate relief!

Went for a 12 mile bike ride yesterday. Wanted to make it to 15 miles, but ran over rattlesnake. Scared the bee-jesus out of me. Turned around and came back home. Hate snakes

Yikes, Marta, that would have scared the bee-jesus out of me, too!

It was great to see mom in-person yesterday. She's had a few TIAs (mini-strokes) so has limited use of left hand. It moves but can't grasp. She's looking pretty frail but her spirits are good. DH and I stopped at the storage unit to dig out her TV before visiting. Brought a few more boxes home and will go through those today.

Martaj - I am petrified of snakes - won't even go into the reptile house at the zoo. 12 miles still is a good workout - but sorry you had to cut it short.

badger - nice that you go to see your mom in person.

Got a couple inches of snow last night. Only getting to 30 today but won't complain as its so much better than 1F.

Hope everyone who was hit hard by the storm earlier in the week are doing okay and getting power/heat/water restored.

    Stay safe, healthy and warm

I am off to Pound in a few minutes. Then I will clean up and head downtown for my Covid shot. I'm signed up for Barre Sculpt & Zumba tonight so am not anticipating any bad side effects (and if my arm gets sore, moving it will be the best way to take care of that).

Today is rest day for me, and as always it's super hard to take one day off from exercise. But I am.

Yesterday was the first time in over six days where our temperature got above 15F. It dropped right back down last night to 6, but that's still above zero. And Saturday is supposed to be above freezing! I think the snow will take a while to melt as the ground is righteously cold.

DH went to play poker with "the boys" yesterday so I had the house all to myself for the afternoon. I read, I napped, I got on the treadmill. All without the d*mn TV on. (He likes noise so the TV is on from the minute he wakes up. I get up early to enjoy several hours of blissful peace & quiet.)

I was pretty zonked out yesterday from the Covid shot. I went to Yogi Breathing, Nidra, walked around the track for awhile, came home, slept most of the day and went to bed at 8:30! I feel fine today, so went to Pound & walked.

This week I tracked 69.4 miles including: 5.4m walking, 8.3m rowing, and 55.7m biking. (This Monday will be 6 weeks from my surgery)

I completed at least one activity a day. Plus I walked a virtual 5k that I signed up for pre-chemo.

Today I managed to row 6km before I got the vaccine fever and chills.

    Waves to NotAsCalm! Great work!

Karen: How is your SIL doing?

Martaj: EEP! But you turned around and went back -- towards the snake???? We don't have any poisonous snakes around me.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening and a great Sunday (in case I spend the day in bed and don't "see" you all)

karen, hope SIL has immediate relief and a speedy recovery!

martaj, my DH would have fainted on his bike, I wouldn't have dared turning back and gotten hopelessly lost.

badger, also had a quiet day alone with the dog yesterday but I do envy your treadmill

Yeslama and Ruth, hope the vaccine side effects subside soon and don't present any problems later. I am still a long way off from getting one with the disastrous rollout here so haven't really read up on side effects.

    notascalm, good for you!

Had a ski day Friday and then took the train back home today, meeting DH halfway for a walk along the Rhine river.

I would probably plan on one light day after the vaccine. I was fine after one day of sleeping, but I have other friends who had zero side effects (even those who generally get side effects from other kinds of vaccines). I would definitely urge everyone to get vaccinated as soon as they're eligible. #1 to be protected yourself & # 2 to get to the herd immunity needed so that we can get back to some sort of normal!

It will be a beautiful day here. Sunny, calm, and 39 degrees. An outdoor walk in definitely in the plan & some Zoom Yoga.

My new exercise is to have 10,000 steps for any trailing week. Right now I alternate walking 15,000 steps w hubby and waking to nearest grocery store which is about 6,000 steps round trip. And small weights one way. Still delighted about steady weight.

Heidi, remind me--are you in Germany? I lived there for 3 years, loved it.

Yesterday was weightlifting, upper body and also abs. Today I did HIIT. That horrible arctic blast is finally gone and we are above freezing during the day! Tuesday it's supposed to be 60 which is ridiculous but I will take it anyway.

More rowing today, also leg day so now they're fried which feels good. High today is supposed to be 57 and we're forecast to go up to 64 tomorrow! I wish the ground were warmer so the ice would melt, I would dearly like to try out a new pair of running shoes.

Mat pilates & Zumba. We had actual rain here today, but are in a Winter Weather Advisory for tomorrow. Crazy weather!

"actual rain" that's perfect! Well not as harsh as you in the midwest, we have gone from snow and ice to rain and 60 here in SE Virginia. Yin yoga yesterday, flow yoga today. TT

Gave the new running shoes a short spin today, then finished with abs and weights for upper body. I think I like the shoes :)
