Comment on revision surgery--  what is that?  I had a bmx in october and it already looks like the right side is not playing nicely. my left side is doing well, but the right is not looking good-- too much skin left etc.  Is going back in there and cleaning that up (I do not plan to have implants or whatever, this is my body now...)  is that revsion surgery?   WHEN can they do  it? meaning how soon after chemo?   I don't want any more setbacks from getting fully back in the saddle so to speak.

Yesterday was PERFECT-- I did a 2 hour ride in 75 minutes-- meaning we went FAST!!  mostly galloped.  My arabian was perfectly behaved...almost except when he tried to bound up a steep slope and toss my body around like a rag doll (my balance is definitely off).  Weather was perfect 70 degrees, sunny....

off for another ride this morning and chemo tomorrow!

Quaatsi, I only know about my own situation, with implants and needing fat grafting/Alloderm, etc., so I can't really answer your question, sorry. Never had chemo or radiation either (thank goodness!). My UMX was six months ago, and as the PS confirmed, things have settled as much as they're going to now, which is why I have to do this all over again. Major nuisance, but especially since there's bottoming out (the implant isn't being held up properly by the Alloderm), he's got to go back in and basically redo the "sling" job. I've had referred nerve pain down my arm and chronic shoulder pain as a result of the sagging, aside from the aesthetic imbalance, so it's a necessary procedure. I'm living with Kinesio tape lifting up some of the sagging breast tissue, but that's just a temporary fix until March. So hopefully once that's done, it really all WILL be done!

Sherry - take care of yourself - glad you're going to the doctor - sometimes knowing when to NOT push through is a good thing too.  Ruth - good to see you're on the mend. I did the same with my wig - it was a short style and highlighted color I'd have never had the courage to do for real, and yes - that's how I have my real hair styled now.  It helps that I now have a pretty crop of chemo curls (more waves than curls) instead of my formerly stick straight limp hair.  Quaatsi - they like to wait at least a few months after chemo for any surgeries to give your body a chance to recover.  A revision can be any kind of surgery to correct or improve on the initial results, so if you're not happy with the amount of skin left on that one side, I'd definitely go back to the surgeon and find out what can be done.  Even if you can't schedule it for a few months down the line, you can get your game plan in order, and schedule it for a time that's convenient for you as well. Sounds like a wonderful ride yesterday!!

35 minutes jogging on the treadmill last night and 20 minutes Pilates this morning. Nancy - thought of you while on the treadmill - I was really tired after about 20 minutes and almost decided to walk for a minute, but then thought of our postings and decided to push through for another few minutes.  After a few more minutes, I got a second wind and even pushed the speed up a little for my last 5 minutes.  Thanks!

Orange - good luck on the marathon - so impressed with you - can't wait to hear how it went.  We're all running with you in spirit!

Sherry--hope the bath and rest helped.

OrangeMat--will be cheering from the breezy chilly midwest for you!  You're awesome.

Started the Galloway half marathon training program. I am a little ahead of the game (its a 17 week program, and I am at 22 weeks out) and going well.  Its 3 days off, 2 days of 25-30 min runs, 1 day of easy walk and 1 day of a long run.  So I will be doing Monday/Wed/Sun off.  Tue/Thurs runs/ Friday walk, Sat long run day.   You are supposed to do long runs on Sundays, but I can't as I am usually at my son's wrestling tournaments which means that we are out the door at 5:30am and back around 3pm at the earliest.  Which means that there is no way in hell that I am doing anything except making dinner adn relaxing after these days.

Rainy, cold and dreary here today, so a hike with the dog was out.  Decided for cardio to do some pilates jumpboard and completed 40 minutes, felt great.   Completed PT upper body theraband exercises, up to 8 reps each side and will stay with those reps for awhile.  And 10 minutes of Lebed.  A warm bath sounds great - just might get out the soaking salts tonite.

I tried to do Leslie Sansone today, and got a mile and a half in and I just hurt everywhere. The PS called today to check on me, and give me the pathology, which I had no idea they had to run, but they do when they are operating  on an area that was already operated on to remove cancer. She sent slides of both sides, and both are clean as a whistle. I told her my frustration at no exercise and told her about my walk this morning and she basically yelled at me and said NO physical activity for a week. Apparently when I was high as a kite on percocet after my procedure I misunderstood the exercise timeline. Oh well, the days will pass quickly.

You girls are keeping me inspired, and I thank you for it!

Sherry, I hope you feel better soon.

Quattsi- The surgery I had last week was revision surgery and port removal. I am 8 weeks out from chemo and I am healing well. I have pain but nothing like my bmx and no drains, which is a plus. I had fat grafting from my thighs to help fill in the "divots" above my implants from the tissue removed during mx. I also had my left (prophalactic side) "dropped and fluffed" as my PS called it to acheive symmetry . They are looking great and I am so happy with them!

Hi al,  Ruthbru, glad you are feeling better.

90 mins of PT today and then 20 mins acupuncture.  Last acupuncture session as after 6 weeks there is no noticeable change in hip rotation so he released me.

Plan on hitting the gym tomorrow after work.  Badger, I'm also doing better with what I put in my mouth so I like your idea.

    Night all.

misswin follow Dr's orders.  I love how they give you instructions when we are out on drugs. haha

Did not walk today had a dermatologist appt and got home too late and then DH needed some computer help.  My Dr. called and is sending me for an MRI on my neck to try to figure out what is going on.  Kinda scared of what they might find, but whatever it is we can at least know how to deal with it.

Good luck, orangemat! Just by showing up you have already won in my book!

Did a 15 minute warm up on the treadmill and 45 minute 'Body Makeover Mix' with Denise Austin.

Man, did I feel like a little old lady school teacher today! I went in really early and was the first car in the parking lot, which was covered with ice. I got out and wondered how I would even make it from the lot, across the street (also covered in ice), onto the sidewalk (ice again) and into the building. As I was standing there pondering, the band director pulled up. "Yikes," I said, "The parking lot sure is icy." and then shuffled a few steps. "Would you like my arm?" he courteously asked. "Yes," I quickly replied and grabbed onto him. Thus I was escorted into the building 'Grand March at the Prom' style. (I felt a little less aged when I found out that my hallmate teacher, who arrived a few minutes later, was similarly escorted into the building by the football coach).

On the good note, the reason it was icy is that it has been amazingly warm during the days, which is why things keep melting and then freezing again at night.

When she once told her aunt that there was no bright side, her aunt advised her to....

hi ladies, walked 3.75 miles today including a noon walk inside the Capitol.

Patoo, I need to lose 15-20 lbs and I can't do it without eating better food, and less of it.

Sherry, I was just wondering how you were.  Good luck with the MRI.

    'night all.

Yup I too know about those "out of it" instructions, after my surgery I sat on the side of the bed and the nurse gave me instructions on how to use and empty the drain I then gave those instructions to my friend who helped me, a couple of days later we were in fits of giggles when the doctor showed how to really do it, when the hospital sent me a questionaire I told them give aftercare instructions to a person who could actually comprehend what was being said!!!!  Kindergarden aren't those floats amazing up close oh and the aroma of all of those flowers, I lived in So Cal many years before I actually went to the Rose Parade and it really is a "must do" thing.

Tonight I did Body Combat class and then went out to dinner but I only ate half and brought the rest home, the kids heads back to school tomorrow I shall miss them but not the mess.

Kindergarten - my dh grew up in SoCal and one year when we visited for Christmas we checked out the Rose Parade floats as the volunteers were putting on the flowers - warehouse after warehouse, all filled with volunteers painstakingly gluing on zillions of flowers.  Very impressive!

Agree that nurses need to give those aftercare instructions to one of our family members, and they also need to write extensive notes for us to take home. Who can remember all that stuff when we're high as kites from anesthesia and pain meds???  Tongue out

30 minutes weights and 15 minutes Lebeds this morning.

Weekend is almost here!  This week flew by, and I am happy about that.  First week back to work, so I expected it to be sluggish, but not at all.

Tonight I will be doing a 30 min run on th treadmill and tomorrow will be a 30 min run outside.  Saturday is my long run for the week--4 miles.  I know that doesn't seem like a long run, but it is for me.  After I di this, my 2nd week of training for the 10 mile will be done.  Only 21 weeks to go!

I did a 40 minute walk fit for core and lower body today. I know I wasn't supposed to, but I was careful and so far so good. I saw my yoga instructor on the street today and told her that I was thinking I might come tonight and take it very easy. She told me she would kick me out if I showed up. Missing one week of yoga is OK. She said she would not let me risk a stitch popping so I can be superwoman. And to SURRENDER. Do my breathing, stretch lightly, but let my practice be what it is while I am healing.

35 minute run tonight...yeah!  Two nights with runs after work this week...and still upright...  I am definitely feeling it though...I am still not 100%...and it is 13 weeks post op tomorrow...  And I just had a umx without recon and no chemo or rads...  Amazing how much the mx took out of me...

For those of you exercising through chemo or rads or reconstruction, my hat is off to you all..superwomen one and all!!!

misswim, be careful not to overdo it - I did and paid for it!  Listen to your body and allow it time to heal. Gentle walks, light stretching; your yoga instructor sounds like a wise woman.

I'm back to 30-45 minute walks with my dogs daily, rain or no rain! (if you don't do it in the rain in Seattle, when will you do it?) Tongue out

hi all and welcome Kelley.  Amazingly warm day, in the 50's Cool so I walked outside today.

How long does it take you to run 4 miles?  I walk pretty fast but 4 miles takes me the better part of an hour.

misswim, your yoga teacher gave good advice.  Constructive rest / shavasana is so healing.  Breathe in the prana (life force) and send it to where your body needs it.  Namaste!

Am hearing Voices and thinking of heading to the indoor track for a walk after supper.  TTFN

I heard the voices and got on the elliptical but then I felt the arm start to ache and aching trumps the voices right now. Going to finish off with some meditation and ujjayi breathing.
