Good Night Sisters!

Hi All,
I am new to this thread. Currently I am waiting for my oncotype test to come back. The oncologist at Dana Farber feels it should be very low. This has been too much of a rollercoaster ride and months of waiting...so I am just putting it out of my mind as best I can. I am ready for chemo or not. Not sure what number would be the cut off. The thing that worries me the most is my very dense tissue. This doesn't factor into chemo I believe but it is a constant worry.I loved my breast surgeon but I am not feeling all warm and fuzzy about the oncologist and radiologist . They both said yes "very busy breasts" but they don't recommend scans or anything further. Maybe that is good, not sure at this point.

Ellen,
Sorry you are waiting right now. I hope your onc. score comes back REALLY, REALLY low so there is not question about if you need chemo. or not. Don't stress over not getting the warm and fuzzy over your oncologist. It seems like the first appt. is all about facts and where you are at that point. BTW, you are lucky that your BS is warm and fuzzy we called mine the breast Nazi but she did her job VERY well.

This is from all of us to all of us. The wonderful lyrics to the theme song, The Golden Girls.
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant.
And if you through a party
Invited everyone you ever knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend.0 -

deborye...thank you for posting the Golden Girls! I choked up reading and remembering those lyrics, and I sent them to three of my bestest friends to remind them how thankful I am that they are in my life and have supported me, especially through this BLASTED cancer and losing my dad in law this year (and will probably lose my mom in law waaaaa).
I had my pre-op appointment and admission testing today in the city...one week and two days till my DIEP surgery! Excited and scared!
And only 8 months to Disney,YEAH!

Hey everyone I went to my docs today and got the go ahead to go to the weight loss docs... so Yeah!! My medical oncologist is starting me on Tamoxifen 10mg daily (which was his idea, not mine, even though I am post menopausal). My follicle stimulating hormone test shows greater than 60 so he told me that I didn't need more than 10mg of Tamoxifen. He said he was concerned about bone loss because of my age. I also expressed some concerns to him I had about the possible side effects of Arimidex or Femara so that was his decision. He told me if I had any bad side effects I couldn't handle to call and let him know and we would do something different. He did tell me the one thing that makes most women stop taking it is weight gain. LOL! I pray not. I've already done that. I'm praying with the weight loss doctor it may help reverse it and cause loss.
Hope everyone else is doing good. Cake good luck!

Mimi, Cake and DEb- So nice to hear from you ladies... Cake, I will be thinking of you before your next procedure... so as far as my next steps, I am on the fence...
Some of you who may have been following my threads have known I have been a little left of par when it comes to my recovery... I have had a number of infections which have made me crazy, and each time I get a mammo, a month later I get the infection symptoms... puffiness in the breast.. I went to dr yesterday because it was inflamed again... they say my scar tissue is thick, it is hard and I have lymphedema in my chest through my back... but it is not infection.(GOOD NEWS) At this point they are recommending PS for recon and to help with the scar tissue... I keep going back and forth on this as I am afraid of going under the knife and me being susceptible to infection.
ANYONE else having to deal with this so far out from treatment?

Nicole: I usually just lurk on this thread and I can't remember if you ever post on the "Exchange City" thread. I'm am sure that there are women who can offer their experiences about recon after infections. That thread really has a great group of ladies and very knowledgable too!! Many of them have been through chemo and rads so they can give you that side of things as well. Good luck in your decision.

I just finished up rads today and have appointment to see oncologist thursday for check and get started on Tamoxifen. Any ideas on how to deal with the drug? I've heard some stuff about it and want to clarify with people who have actually been throiugh it not just doctors and nurses. Jamie

deborye--loved those pics, thanks!
Nicole--sorry I wish I could help! The only similarity is that I am doing two procedures...first did the lump, now the DIEP. I DO also have scars from melanoma mole removals (one was melanoma and the others were the "pre-cancerous" type moles) so I have scars all over the place, and I absolutely plan to fix them. I think revisions wouldnt be too bad to deal with if it made you feel better. With the lump, they had to go back in for the clear margins and cut the same spot, and it healed...took longer, but healed nicely. I'm sure I'm not being any help LOL.
Hi, Sheila!
Let's all be GOLDEN GIRLS!

Ladies: Be strong. Take time for just YOU. I started meditating: once a week w/ a group, & then 5-10 min on my owm daily. It has really helped w/ day to day stresses & particularly w/ medical appointments.

Thanks Deb!!
MBCR- I like your idea! I have been trying this approach and it is working out beautifully in my schedule (The alone time, not the group). I wake up before my 2 and 10 yr can get my day started

Hello Everyone!
My surgery was last month. I am stage 1, grade 1. Estrogen+, Pg+, Her 2 -.
Nodes negative. YAY!!! Oncotype DX score was 16, so NO CHEMO!
I had a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expander reconstruction, which feels like a really tight barb wire bra! I got my first expander "fill" Monday. Ouch! Back to the pain pills for a couple of days. All in all, I feel very blessed to have had this outcome, I know my fellow early stagers feel the same. Great to find this thread. By the way, my name is Susie, and I live in the North Georgia Mountains. Nice to talk with ya'll !

Welcome, Susie. Lucky girl, no chemo! Nice to hear from you, too.

Countdown started for cakes surgery and Disney vacation
The pictures you see, I google the images, copy and paste at the post where the green tree is on the top of your post next to smiley face. If you are asking about real picture posting I dont know yet.
We have Gildas Club I called them but never attented. will be nice since they have all kind of activities like yoga etc etc. I used to meditade which was helpful, but I stopped, now I dont even know where to start.
Nicole making alone time for yourself is very important and also difficult. I used to put the kids to bed a very early hour, then had few hours for myself every night.
Hi Susie nice to meet you come back anytime.
Sheila
