For me the most difficult time is after dinner. which I almost got used to it, having some fruits instead of junk food.
Deb that expression you use tub of lard you should get a pattern for it and sell it to WW. hahaha
Nicole I cant put a mission on mine as long as I can keep it off and loose maybe few more pounds. My tummy will be big. At this age I'm not expecting miracles just to stay healthy.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US.

O.k. Ladies follow me along on my weight loss plan. I have from now till August to lose 50lbs. Valjean I really appreciate your support!! It means alot to me to have someone do this with me. I have no support at home. I am doing this diet on my on. I cook my family one meal and then myself another. I pray I can keep this up for another 23 1/2 weeks.
Has anyone heard from Cake? Just wondering how she is...
Nicole congrats on making a decision that is right for you about whether or not to have recon right now. And good luck losing the 15 lbs for Hawaii. Gosh how I wish I were going!!!!!

Seriously, count me in.
Pat

I won't go down as low as Sheila's scale, but maybe 145. I am 5'8" and 140-145 is about right for me.

Way to go Ladies!!!!!!!!! Yeah us!!!!!! We can do this together.... my goal is 125. I sure hope to see it. I'm only 5'5" and I'm wearing a 14 right now it stinks. Sure will be nice to see a 4 or a 6 again I'll even settle for an 8. LOL!!! I would especially like to see a pair of shorts and a swim suit, something I haven't been in for about 3 years.
Just another question, I was wondering how many of you are actually watching your soy intake? In other words, trying not to consume much soy at all? I've been doing some research and have found where studies are showing that it could actually be helpful.
Here's the link to the article I found I'm not good with this copy and paste thing :
http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=349208
copy and paste it to your browser... it's some new research saying soy may actually be good for us. Use your own judgement, but the reason I asked is because of course it is in a lot of food products we buy and I wasn't told to not consume it by my Med Onc and it is plant based.
Thanks Meece, Sheila, Nicole, ValJean, hmm

I have been watching soy, but have been recently told that the hormones in soy are not the same type which might lead to BC.

Here's my two cents on soy and diets:
The pharmacist at my cancer clinic talked to me when I started tamoxifen, and he was only concerned with people who have been in the habit of eating a fair amount of soy regularly. (For example, some vegetarians depend on soy for protein, and some women for various reasons put soy in their smoothies. However, this was in the context of drug/food interactions, not BC risk factors in general.
My trigger foods, especially when stressed, are bread/crackers/chips and desserts. If I don't eat them, I lose weight. If I do, I gain weight. To maintain my weight, I allow one day a week to eat whatever the heck I want, and that seems to work. I needed the support of Weight Watchers, though. I could never have managed by myself! So go for it, ladies, and keep posting and encouraging each other.

Mimi- You said you are only 5'5" ......well I am barely 5'1"...........so my weight needs to be kept below the weight on that scale that Sheila posted...... that is why I said that I kept clicking on it.
Thanks for the soy article.

Okay can i join the E-Lab group. I lost 27lbs during chemo and then I found almost all of them. I could have left10lbs off and looked and felt so much better. When I was at my lowest I looked horrible and felt even worse. I have been having a new love affair with food and it needs to end. I also need to start exercising again. I will be 6 weeks out from hip flap surgery this week and I think I should be able to start walking and maybe light weights this week. I was hoping that I could start running but I have fluid at my donor site so I think they are going to make me hold off on running for a bit longer .
Sheila~ I am 5'5" and 152lbs so my BMI should be about 26 but I would love to hear what it says Oh and I am 33 if that makes a difference.

Hi Jaimieh....Your BMI is 25.3.
Normal weight BMI is between 18.5-24.9.
If you weigh up to 149 pounds it falls between normal range. Again you can weigh 132 and you will be thinner. Its a personal choice.
I'm also 5 5" and weigh 163 but I know I cant loose that much weight and I don't even want too.
i already lost 9 pounds and 10 more I will be happy.
Sheila
Welcome to E_Lab group LOL LOL

My bmi is 25.8 according to weight and height. We have a nurse come in at work quarterly and do our cholestrol and BMI. We hold some machine and my bmi is always around 30.3, but so is the bmi of four other co-workers. Coincidental. I am the "thinnest" of the five of us for our heights. A couple weight less, but are 5-6 inches shorter.

With that being said, if I lose 15 pounds, I will be in the healthy range. That will be my goal. Actually 7 lbds would put me in healthy range.
0 -
Meece...What do you mean you hold some machine and is around 30.3
0 -
You hold both hands on the handles and somehow it calculates bmi by an energy wave through from one side to the next.

I am so excited for this and REALLY fighting the craving for some food right now... all I wanted to do this past hour is munch... hee hee... but I think of you ladies and I say, NO!
I am 5'9, 168 lbs... not sure where I am... I know I am on the top of my scale and my clothes hurt to zip
I just took my Tamoxifen and an Ativan to help me sleep, I was up with a sick baby all night last night... thank goodness she is better today!
BTW- This sonds silly, but Metamucil is fine with tamox, right? My sis recommends it and says it keeps you regular and helps with weight loss... a little fiber can't hurt, right?
0 -
I can't answer the"drug" interaction thing, but I doubt that it would hurt. Fiber is a good thing.
The BMI Calculator I use says your BMI is 24.8 which is the high end of normal.

I harvested a bunch of radishes yesterday. My plan is to munch on them when I really want patatoe chips.

Hi, All, count me in on the losing weight stuff. If you go to the Weight Watchers web site, you can calculate your BMI there. Mine is over 25! I am 5-8 and the low end of the "normal weight" for me is 132. I NEVER weighed that in my life. I don't think the Arimidex is helpful as far as my weight issues. I have been busy all winter, painting my house. Up and down the ladder, etc. And no weight loss. I think I have to admit that yes, I am a CHIP A HOLIC! Gotta lay off the Lays. Being a widow doesn't help, either. You guys should see what I eat for "supper" sometimes.
I am going to WW this Wed. Amen! Sue
