CALLING ALL STAGE I SISTERS

Calling out to all my Stage 1er's who get the 6 month Zometa infusion... I want to TALK!!!! Can you PM me and let me know how the infusion has been working for you... are you having any bad side effects from the drug?
For all you Stage 1er's who do not have this as a maintenance drug, do not panic... it is, for the most part, recommended for premenopausal early stage woman...

What is the difference between Zometa and Reclast? Anybody know?

My favorite AI contestants are Lee and Siobhan. I was disappointed that Alex went home. I know people liked Lilly, but I didn't get her.

Good morning, gals!
Nicole--I'm premeno...I wonder why they dont give me Zometa?! Yikes. But right now I dont give a crapola about anything, LOL!
Got the path report back yesterday...no existing or new cancers, woo hoo!!!!
Time for a nap

Cake-excellent news! Hope you have a great nap (I'm jealous-I've only been at work 35 minutes!)

Cake ~ Fabulous news on the path report! SO happy for you!!

And you know what's so weird? Here I am at stage 1 and have clean path report, etc...but I am still scared of getting mets. My sweet mom in law is here taking care of me, and she has colon cancer mets...lost her hair, battling it for 2nd time. She started at stage 0! I wish we didnt have to live with the fear. I think I'm feeling this way because of the operation and feeling so cruddy and helpless, and I think, "I cant go through this stuff again!" Cancer is so unfair to people. People who "go" quickly are so much better off.
Sorry for a little gloom here. It's all the above, and we lost grandpa (mom in law's husband of 47 yrs) in January, and I'm afraid to lose my dear mom in law soon...and it's raining....and I'm in pain...and I'm still fat .

Here was something that my oncologist said to me yesterday that I think could help us all..."Krissy, your job is to live, my job is to worry about your cancer." LOVE IT! Loved her! She encouraged me to live my life, get married, have babies when I want to (though I will still wait for my own peace of mind and sanity the 2 years), and told me that it's her job to worry about my cancer. Now, I just have to remember this when I feel down and out. Things have been better this week. Both oncologists I saw at Cancer Institute of New Jersey and my private one from Sloan-Kettering said no chemo/herceptin for me. Risks outweigh the benefits, and my good outweighs my bad. So, I am in for radiation and 5 years of Tamoxifen, and lots of prayers that this cancer never comes back I'm still uneasy, but my tumor was T1a, and neither of them will throw the kitchen sink at it yet. So, I will listen and live on guard, but that will be the case with me no matter what. Also, surgeon called, and all of my margins are clean And, they are very generous margins so not sure how big until I go back next Friday for suture removal. Radiation planning on the 22nd, and gotta pick up that Tamoxifen rx. Any Tamoxifen advice?
and hugs! Krissy</p>

I'm stage 1 & premenopausal I had a lumpectomy & radiation. Now I'm om T but no Zometa. I guess protocol depends on where you go.

Hang in there, cake. Tomorrow is a new day, and I'm hoping it will be brighter for you.

KC71579...I loved what your oncologist said. I too need to remember this when I am down.
Cake....HANG IN THERE (((HUGS))). I am so glad you got good news!!!!!!! You need to go and celebrate. I now celebrate two birthdays. I too feel fat.....I don't think I will ever get the weight off.

I have a question for those of you on Tamoxifen... have you had the side effect of creaking or scrubbing joints? I have never had any problems with my knees and 2 days ago out of the clear blue I get up and both my knees (not one, but both) are creaking and making a scrubbing sound very loudly when I extend them. I bought some Glucosamine Chondritin to take and hope it helps but I don't want to get degenerative joint disease since I am only 45 yrs old.

I'm here! You know, when I was visiting family this past weekend, so many times I was thinking about this stupid bc, isn't that awful?? Everyone was chatting away & here I am thinking about that. CRAZY! One guy said something about some gal he'd seen at a bar & her having cancer & I was thinking, "Does he know I had cancer?" His wife cuts my hair & I don't know if she's told him or not, I don't think so. That crap sure pops up at strange times...

Sheila ~ Geez, O.K.A.Y. "Thanks, lady! Made my day!!" Does this never end??
At the end of the month I have my reg 3-month lab work again. I'm sure the worrying time will start soon, wondering what that dang CA-27-29 level will be. I hate this....

I am here I tried to get to bed but I just sat there turning..... I can't stand when I can't get to sleep. I am ready for spring.....we have had rain since last week

That CA-27-29 and CEA test....Every 4 months I go crazy, emotionally drained.
Im glad I have a place I can write about it. For sure I cant mention it to certain people because everything is behind me now. I feel fine I have no complaints but I should be able to say something once in a while.
DD#1 gets uneasy in a caring way.
DD#2 understands and listen to me if I ever have anything to say about me being nervous.
She is a Social Worker. In NY she worked with Aid Patients. In Hawaii she works with mentally ill. Maybe her education helps her to understand me better.

Hi all! I wish I had more time to come here and post...working full time again and no bc.org while at work...it takes me over an hour to catch up and by then I am too pooped to post. Just wanted to let all of you know just how much I look forward to your posts.
Joni2 - I love your hair...and a little jealous too Wishing my hair was as full and long!

Michelle in couple of months you will have your hair.
I remember your first 3 Avatar pictures how Angelic you looked and you shared with us every time you cut your hair little shorter. Herceptin doesn't effect the hair grow.
Its so nice to see you.
Sheila

Good morning All, We are in a big floody mess in MA. I am thankful that I don't live near any lakes or streams and have a dry basement. The rain lasted for several days and set some kind of record.
Just wanted to say hello! Sue

We finally got sun in Northern CA, but when you work inside all day I don't get to see it much. Sunday was just wonderful. I am so ready to be warm.
Sue-61 - I am glad you have a dry basement. Hope you see sun soon.

It's still yucky here, we have had rain, drizzle and cold with dampness and winds. Just miserable weather. Hate it. I'm counting the days down till me and the hubby leave to go to the race in Bristol, TN. I will go into computer and BreastCancer.org withdrawal. LOL!! The worst part is they are giving rain on the internet for Sunday up there. I'm praying for NO rain during the race.
