Charity W- dx age38 - lump found by SELF EXAM - led to mammogram which found that the original lump was benign, but a mass of DCIS that wouldve been unnoticed-except for the fact that I had a mammo.

Abda Lee Quillian dx@46.  Yearly screening mammograph began @38 due to lack of family history.

My yearly mammograph found the cancer and no doubt saved my life.

I am thankful that I had a mammogram at age 39 and saved my life through early detection.  I'll be spending another Thanksgiving with my children this year.

Age 46 when diagnosed.  Lumpectomy, radiation, tamaxofin.

Going strong 2 years later - and feel so lucky for early detection.

Age 65 at DX, missed mammogram in 2008, 2007 was clean. They switched to digital mammos this year, thank god . I had NO TUMOR, microcalicifications , idc high grade, aggressive and moving fast. Also had dcis in same breast.  I am HER2 + & ER-PR- One of 27 nodes positive double mastectomy on aug. 18 2009. NO FAMILY HISTORY. I have 4 daughters and 8 granddaughters. Now we have a history!! If it wasn't for that mammogram, the way this beast is moving, I would have been dead in less than 2 yrs. Not in high risk group!!! What about all the younger women who have microcalcifications and no tumor to feel!!! I'm gonna get the whole november chemo group to sign on here!! The moderators need to forward these comments and signatures to the president himself as well as to the senate and house. The numbers crunchers obviously feel that we are disposable!!! Karma is a bitch!! God don't like ugly and they definitely are UGLY!!!!YellYell In memory of my daughters best friend, dx inflamtory BC 2006, age 27, died 2006 age 27.Innocent

I was diagnosed at age 50.  Only thing mammogram detected was 8 new microcalcifications.  My cancer would have gone undetected if THIS ONE had been my baseline.  Cancer caught early because I had earlier mammograms in my 40's against which to compare the cancerous one at 50.  By the way, the United Kingdom only allows women to get their first mammogram at 50!  Thank god I live here!!!

I started down the BC road when I was 41. If it weren't for my baseline mammogram at age 39,  I would not have been diagnosed at age 41 with pre-cancerous atypia hyperplasia .  I was SO thankful for EARLY detection.   I revisited this whole thing again at age 49 with DCIS and my mastectomy.  If I had waited until age 50 for my FIRST mammogram, who knows where it might have gone?  Without those earlier mammograms, would they have seen the changes in my breasts and the areas of concern?  Please add my signature to this petition!

Invasive Lobular stage 2B/ march 2003. 2 of 9 nodes positive, estrogen pos Her2 neg I found it myself, mammogram missed it, was visible on ultrasound.

    Mets to spine dec 2006

We need the mammograms. My aunt's tumor was found on a mammogram. Doctors need to freely be able to order ultrasound, breast MRI or whatever is needed to diagnose these tumors early.

    Jennifer Golan

Diagnosed by BSE age 39, no family history, negative for BRAC gene. OB did not find lump 3 months earlier at annual exam. Only wish I had a baseline mammogram at that time. Perhaps I would not have been stage III. I have two young children. I am terrified. Agreed that one size fits all is not perfect, but not perfect is better than nothing -- which seems to be the current alternative.

From my calculations, I would be dying right now if I followed the new mammography and self exam guidelines.

There are lots of paranoid conspiracy theories floating around. I think Undertakers and Morticians are behind this mess.

This is THE most absurd thing I've heard.  I was diagnosed after just turning 40 (with no family history and negative for the BRCA 1 & 2 gene.  I had a baseline at 35.  They had those to compare to, thank goodness.  They say only 3% will be affected by this.  I wonder how those people on the panel would feel if there sister, mother, aunt, daughter, friend, or they themselves were one of those 3%.  How can they look at someone and say "well, you're going to be one of those 3% that aren't going to make it because of our cutbacks, sorry".  We need to yell and scream about this and let our voices be heard.  I will definitely sign this petition.

Carol M. Armstrong, age 49. What about all those undiscovred genes that will prove breast cancer is hereditary... not just BRCA 1 & 2? Mom dx age 63, paternal grandma stage iv 83... currently my cancer is considered nonhereditary but I believe with advances in research this will change.
