LadyinBama--next time your see your pastor ask him, for me, what was so bad about us BEFORE bc that such a horrible disease and treatment makes us better? Ye gads, I HATE that line. Good for you for being honest.

So after finally realizing that my BF was really not a friend at all (MIA during treatment, a multitude of insensitive and uncaring comments and just overall borderline abusive treatment) I tossed her sorry ass under the bus last August. Today I get an e-mail from her saying that I have been telling all the neighbors (she lives two doors down) that she is the one that stopped talking to me. (Which I hadn't.) She asked if I would stop telling lies about her. WTH? Some frickin' people just won't stay under the damn bus!

Lady in Bama you spoke for all of us. I was just coming out of a major 3 year depression whn I was diagnosed. I definitely did not need cancer to improve me in any way.

When I told my DH about the ex-friend e-mailing him he said, "Didn't you throw her under the bus a long time ago?" Now I've got him saying it! LOL!

You are all welcome ladies. I was a 'tell it like it is' person before BC and that certainly hasn't changed!
The day after the party, a lady from church brought me a pink Tshirt from a BC fundraiser her office had done. I'm going to have to dedicate a room in my house for all the pink stuff people have given me since my diagnosis, and I don't even like pink. Sigh ... I know they mean well, but I feel like I've become their personal trash bins for all the pink BC stuff they accumulated in October.

Ha! you're nice! I refuse any pink gift, no matter who gives it to me, and I am quite nasty about it. My reasoning is - All my friends and acquaintances know I hate pink, and I hate Pinktober. If they give me a pink gift that means that they don't give a rat's turd about how I feel about it, thus they aren't real friends, and they give me the present just to feel good about themselves. So why would I spare their feelings in this respect?

Hadley - I'll drive you for your appt. on Jan. 4th! Send me a PM with the time of your appointment. My work schedule is somewhat flexible. A friend took the whole day off to drive me to my nipple reconstruction surgery. I want to pass it on. Forget the family! Who needs 'em?

not directly about me, but did everyone hear what the nutjob pastor of Wetboro church said about Elizabeth Edwards' cancer being "God's punishment"? If his God issues such punishment I fear for his soul.

What scares me about that preacher--I can't bring myself to call him a pastor--is that he has gathered so many followers and the funds to demonstrate at so many military funerals.

barbe--I did much the same thing--I loudly and clearly stated "NO PINK ANYTHING--I AM NOT GOING TO BE A BILLBOARD FOR BREAST CANCER"
I've only gotten one pink item, from a friend at church who didn't know I had said the above. It's a pink flower bc ribbon, looks handmade. It's hanging up on the outside door where I almost never see it. Some people have worn pink duirng an event in my honor, which was ok.
I also do not go to any of the cancer "celebration" activities that go on during the year. I am NOT a diagnosis, and I refuse to let this diagnosis rule my life!
OK, sorry for the rant. I've been on edge all day for some reason, and this just set me off.

AStorm: Yes, I read it. Did you see the flier they printed when they were saying they were going to protest at her funeral? I'm glad they didn't go through with it, or if they did, it was such a small contingent that it didn't draw any attention because I haven't heard anymore about it. That man is pure evil and crazy to boot.

I read they were trying to organize a human circle around the church where the funeral was to keep out the protestors. Not sure if it happened or not but I would have liked to seen that!

There is one cool thing about a life-threatening illness: it does give you perspective on which of your friends are chumps. In my world, I had two. They are going on the C list. If I need something from them, great, otherwise, I just spared myself hours of boring conversations about grandkids!

I love reading these posts! My father has worn hairpieces forever ( he looks silly, but he doesn't know it) Less than a week after my diagnosis, he called me and told me he had talked to "his wig lady" about me and that she would take care of me and make me a beautiful wig. I know he meant well, but this was waaaay too soon! He called me again last week and asked why I hadn't called her yet. I finally had to tell him to back off. He doesn't know that behind his back the rest of the family refers to his toupee as "the pelt".

Hey Ladies,
Just dropped by and read some of the Elizabeth Edwards posts. You know that group and their crazed nut of a leader profess to all be members of the same family, which would explain the intelligence level of the entire group. It is a scientific fact that in-breeding amplifies negative genetic traits. Such as, an animal without a leg mates with an animal without a tail and you get an animal without a leg and no tail. Considering that those folks are missing brain cells and mating with others like themselves, I'm not surprised. What does surprise me is that they were able to find the church.
A friend of mine always says. "It DOESN'T take all kinds, but we've got them".
