My husband and I were on a week long vacation in Chicago and Moon, who lives in Wisconsin, agreed to meet me halfway. Even though we had never met, we felt like we'd known each other a long time because of BCO.

    Dear Whippetmom,

I hope your surgery went well and your rheumatoid flare up has settled. I don't want to bother you given all the issues you have going on but decided you needed a distraction......

I am booked for my exchange on 9th May.

I am 5foot, 4inches tall and weigh 150pounds. I have quite a long torso and short legs (but get away with it with lots of high heels and lost of beautiful clothes!) My chest circumference is 34inches

My nipple sparing bilateral prophylactic mastectomy was on 6th feb and at the time I had Allergan 133 MX - 400 tissue expanders inserted. I had a peri-areolar incision and when planning the surgery I agreed that I didn't not want to be any bigger (I was previously a C or D cup but droopy post baby boobs). My surgeon does not like to overfill. The details of my tissue expanders are:

    Width:12cm

    Height: 11cm

    Projection: 6.3cm

My surgeon has recommended the following implants: Mx 370 (W-12.5, H-11.6, Pr-6.0). I am concerned they will be too small on my frame and get lost. (Politically correct way of saying I am a bit overweight)

Alternative implants that have been suggested include:

    Mx410 (W-13, H-12.1, Pr-6.1)

    Fx410 (W-12.4, H-13, Pr-6.0)

    Fx360 (W-12, H-12.5, Pr-5.7)

I am currently heading towards the Mx 410 but would really appreciate your input. Let me know if you need any additional info. Thank you so much for your help.

Lilah - that was the 2nd post I'd seen about "your" surgery.  I would have questioned it this evening. SO glad it isn't you!!!

    Deborah,

I hope your surgery went well and all is ok.  I've been reading old posts and saw that you have the same plastic surgeon that I do at Kaiser-Irvine.  My oncologist said, "She's a perfectionist, almost anal."  I liked hearing that.

    Take care.

Sorry having trouble with post I had surgery number 3 today hove a lot of pain dr was great he used sientra anatomical controlled acx expanders 700cc max at 600 cc, he found a mesh the other ps put in said it bunched where the lump was didn't

Ever see this before he said he redid my pockets with alloderm also here is what he did all different from other ps put compression bra on said no lifting no raising arms, said to drain every 6 hours also can shower after 24 hours gave me muscle relaxer and said to sleep upright also gave me card with all info said he is going with mentor 800 cc implants or allergan 800 cc said needs to see what is better said trying to go with largest cc due to the fact I still have a lot of skin said I will still have ripples even after fat grafting. What do u think.

    Hi Everyone -

Quick update - I had my exchange surgery yesterday and so far I am happy with the results.  Instead of agonizing over my implant decision I showed photos to my PS of how I hoped to look.  I have the Mentor Smooth Round Ultra High Profile 535 cc.  I am feeling far better today than I had expected.  Exchange surgery is nothing compared to the BMX.

    All the best to everyone!

    Hi Whippetmom,

I hope you are feeling well and you are in my prayers.  This thread has helped me so much in my process.  Thank you for putting your time and energy into making this experience a lot easier for someone like me.  Like Previvor 101, I have a question for you but only if it serves as a good distraction.  If not, no worries.  I have the Mentor expanders at 450 cc fill capacity and 12.7 width.  I was going to choose 475 cc or 500 cc smooth round high profile silicone implants.  I have my exchange in a week on May 2.  Today, my PS brought up another option which is Mentor's ultra high profile at 480 cc or 535 cc.  The 480 cc has a width of 11.4 and the 535 cc has a width of 12.0.  Do you think it is a good idea to go with an implant with a width that is less than my current expanders?  He said I will have better projection.  I am 5'7, 120 lbs and ribcage of about 30.  What do you think?

Warrior - congrats!  So glad you're content so far.  It's good to hear from someone who came home with initial happiness instead of initial disappointment.

Savedbygod - I don't have an answer for you either but am thinking of you none the less.

Jennie71 - I certainly cannot provide the incredibly educated response that Whippetmom can, but in her absence for now, I can share what I've gleaned from her on this subject over the past 15 months or so.  I don't think it's typically a good idea to exchange to something that is so much narrower than your TE width.  For one thing it requires a lot of internal work to reduce the size of the pocket (more internal work means more and longer lasting post-surgical pain).  More importantly, though, your expanders should have been selected because the width was appropriate for your frame.  Going with implants that are either .7 or 1.3cm narrower may just not be a good width for your body build.

I'll be interested to hear what Whippetmom says (and thus learn whether I've been a good pupil or not Winking).

Whippetmom - I do hope you are mending well and want to remind you that we're all still there in your pocket as you recover.  Love you tons girl!

warrior woman, glad your exchange went well. I like the idea of bringing in a photo of what you want to look like (kind of like going to the hair dressers!). But I am a bit intrigued. How did you choose a picture? Was it nude or in a bra? Thinking I might do the same as sort of know what I should look like.... Mmmmm, gives me something to do when I run out of things to want to buy on ebay!

Whippetmom, hope your surgery went well. Rest nod look after your self!

Previvor - I googled photos of reconstructed breasts and brought in the ones I liked.  I found it difficult to describe in works what I wanted and I figured the photos would help...and they did.  As a side note, my husband brought photos from porn sites.  She took one look and said they're not reconstructed.
