Kerry, a big AMEN to your powerful and heartfelt post! You write what my pastor tells us: God is holding back the Rapture so we can bring as many people to Him as possible. What a mighty and loving Father we serve!

Kerry, I am glad I found this for you. I hope it will help.

Teka, my roofer gave me the impression he was going to come today but I am not sure what he wanted to do as it rained all day and he said depending on the rain. So I don't know if he will drop in tomorrow or not. I have been doing a lot of sleeping catching up for all the other short nights. My roof is done just in time for the nonstop rain that hit that same night. I am also adding new gutters which we need to pick a color match and I will need another HOA approval. Wasn't thinking clearly enough to tackle that the last few days. My leg is extremely stiff and I had not counted on that challenge. I am not in a lot of pain when resting but bending my knee is painful. My first PT will be on Tuesday so I have to see if I can drive before then. I have only taken Tylenol the last two days so I hope I will be able to drive very soon. I took my first shower yesterday with my new chair. I am glad I bought it. It was very helpful. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Cammie and I have spent a lot of time on "our" blanket.

    Love,

    Nancy

Nancy, I'm so glad to hear from you and that you're doing mostly OK. I hope you continue to get rest, that your roof gets replaced, and that Cammie is being extra nice to you!

    Love and hugs,

    Carol

Teka, that is good to know that my first PT treatment will help the stiffness. One of my neighbors had a similar surgery and she mentioned being stiff. I just didn't think it was going to happen so quickly and be so stiff. She never had PT. I am glad I am having it.

I don't have a walk in shower and I have only taken baths for many years. I have a shower attachment only but it worked with my new shower chair. I am not sure when I can take baths again. I won't see my PA until March 19. I wish I could see my surgeon but that is the way they do it. My surgeon made me a video of the surgery and put it on a thumbdrive but I can't get the audio to work so it is not very helpful without that. I haven't tried it again to try to figure it out yet.

I just now realized I need to change my clocks. I love having more light so this will give me a boost.

Take care. Thanks for the info.

    Love,

    Nancy

Nancy, I misread your comment and thought you said you needed to change your SOCKS not your CLOCKS. My first thought was how are you going to change your socks when you can't bend your knee? Do you have any adaptive equipment like a reacher to help you with those tasks?

    Hi Carol,

I didn't see your post. My roof is DONE. YIPPPEEEEE!!!!! They finished in one day just ahead of a nonstop rain that night and into the next day. I am having new gutters so the project is not quite finished yet until I can pick a color and have it approved by my HOA.

I'm doing okay. My sleep schedule is a little goofy and I am still sleeping in my Lazy Boy with my foot elevated. I think once I can get back to my bed things will improve. Cammie wants to get on my lap and ends up on my sore knee but once I can get her off my knee then we are fine.

She is sitting staring at me on the arm rest waiting for me to get the laptop off my lap.

How are you feeling? I know you mentioned you were not sure if your treatment was working. Have you had any recent scans? Are you still able to eat and gain some weight? I sure hope so. I remember you saying your DH was going skiing. Do you have any knitting projects in the works? I hope you have a good weekend.

    Take care.

    Love,

    Nancy

Nancy, so happy to read you are doing so well with your knee and that your roof is done! (Well, almost.) What a relief! My half-sister had her knee done the same day so I am following and praying you both. Thank you also for posting the abbreviations for me.

Carol, I am asking the same questions as Nancy praying you are making good progress. Enjoy the San Diego sun…it was 20° here last night. How I miss SD weather!

Teka, pink, and others I missed—have a good weekend. Hope Spring is beginning to poke its head out where you are.

Late to the game, but Chris, sorry about your brother. :-(

Nancy, my foot is the same. Pain moves around. I think it's cramping. I see MO tomorrow, I need to ask her how long I have to do this. Is it 5 years, or 10 because I've already had one recurrence.

Work issues (new ones) abound. When it rains it pours I guess!

Hope everyone is doing well this Sunday. Am I the only one who forgot about the time change and slept in? :-)

Hi ladies. I'm doing pretty well. I'm eating and have gained a little weight. Am looking forward to my next set of scans on the 19th and 22nd to see what is going on with me.

DH had a good ski trip but took a spill and didn't realize he had gashed his knee until he was driving home and went to take off his ski pants and thermals. He ended up going to urgent care on his way home and got five stitches. How could a gash that size not hurt??? Anyway, they stitched him up, gave him a script for antibiotics and sent him home. He's sleeping in this morning. Long day for him, poor guy.

Nancy, I'm glad your roof was repaired without any problems. Hoping the same for the gutters. We don't get a lot of rain, but when we do, I wish we had gutters.

Not much else going on. The baby blanket is about 75% finished, I think. Found one mistake, but not bad enough to rip it back. I've heard that the Amish say, "Only God is perfect." There is supposedly some little flaw in the baskets and other things they make. I bought some communion trays from them years ago. They're beautiful and each tray is signed by the maker. If you need baskets, check them out at amishbaskets.com.

    Love to all,

    Carol

Hi ladies I hope everyone is doing well and had a pleasant weekend! I had a beginning infection and frozen shoulder starting on Thursday morning so I saw my plastic surgeon Friday before radiation so he could check everything and he did an ultrasound on my right side to check the expander and area. It was sooo painful 😬

He started me on antibiotics and I put my school knowledge to work and have been doing my stretches and range of motion light exercises.

I did have my radiation treatment “dry run” and chest X-rays last Friday. Tomorrow is my 1st official radiation treatment day; this week the times are all over the place but starting next week I should be 9:40am every day. It was calming they play Christian music the entire time and this is my above view :)

Oh & Bella is sporting pink for us this week she had her pup spa day Thursday 💕

Sending prayers and strength to all 🌷

pinkbutterfly, thinking of you as you begin radiation. My times were all over the map, too. One appointment was cancelled by them when the equipment went down. I had to change another one when some idiot entirely blocked our driveway, and we couldn't get DH's truck out. It's a single-side driveway and it gets blocked from time to time. How could this person NOT see that they were entirely across our driveway???

Kerry, I hope your first radiation treatment goes well. As someone said already it takes longer to change in and out of your gown that it does for the treatment itself. I'm sorry to hear about your infection and frozen shoulder. That is amazing that they play Christian music. I don't think we had any music at all. Bella looks very beautiful from her spa day and her pink ribbon. She is supporting you over these next several weeks.

Carol, I am glad that you are still gaining some weight. I was sorry to hear about your DH 's accident and needing stitches. Ouch. I'm glad you are still working on your baby blanket. Praying your scans will be good news.

Chris, your half sister and I could compare notes. I can't believe tomorrow will be a week gone by already. I wasn't feeling well on Saturday and felt like I had fever. One of my three incisions doesn't look so great but it looks more like bruising than redness and is very sore. I felt better after taking some Tylenol. I felt better today. I still can't walk very well because my leg is so stiff. I will be glad to get that first PT in to see if it will help. I already had to fill out a questionairre today before Tues. There was no place to say I JUST had surgery. Some of the things were pretty crazy that no one would be doing right after surgery. I felt like I had failed a final as almost everything I either couldn't do or did with much difficulty. One of my good friends lives in Canada and she told me she was flying to Denver this week to visit some octogenarians on Wed. She is in Alberta and of course is used to snow and cold. I wander what weather they will have when she flies in.

Teka, I love your banner. Sounds like you got the weather we had late Thursday going into Friday with non stop rain. I was so grateful they finished my roof right before all that rain.

GB, I was able to get away with stopping my AI after 5yrs. When I started it it was fairly new and they didn't have all the studies completed then but by the time my 5yrs was up then the studies were coming in that it will be helpful to stay on it longer. My RO and I decided it would not be worth the little benefit because I was having so much trouble with it. However this was my first cancer so I realize my situtaion was much different than yours. I hope you can make the right decision for you.

My sleep schedule has been so crazy. I am sleeping in my bed for the first time since surgery. The fact that I am still up at 2:30 am is not a good sign. I think I will be more comfortable hopefully.

Have a good week dear sisters.

    Love,

    Nancy

Kerry, your little Bella is adorable. Yes, the first week's schedule for radiation has some crazy appointment times. The following weeks will be much more predictable. How amazing that Christian music was playing in the treatment area! Mine was very clinical and sterile, no music, just me and the sound of the machines.

Nancy, I hope you find improvement and relief at tomorrow's PT appointment. Will a friend be taking you there?

Kerry, how did your first treatment go? My cancer clinic had a lot of people trying to get treatments so I tried to get mine in the middle of the afternoon and on most days that seemed to be a time of less people waiting. During my breast ultrasound my shoulder was injured so I had PT along with my bc radiation. I am probably the only person who has been injured during a breast ultrasound🙄I laugh now but NOT funny at the time. I am praying your sessions go by quickly.

Hershey, I ordered groceries online today and drove to pick them up. My surgery knee is on the left otherwise I would not be driving this soon. So tomorrow I can easily drive myself to the PT clinic which is very close to my house. I probably got off the heavy duty pain meds earlier than I normally would have but I knew I had to have them out of my system so I could drive. My knee is very painful but my surgeon told me I would have more pain the first two weeks than prior to surgery when I asked him about that. I am still icing and elevating and taking Tylenol. I got to sleep in my bed last night and finally got a good nigh'ts sleep. I am not sure if I mentioned this but my surgeon made a video of my surgery for me. When I played it several days ago I had no audio. Today I fiddled with it and I got audio but no video. At least I got to hear what he had to say. He said there were hundreds of tiny particles of cartilage that were floating around. I am not sure if my knee shattered or what. I will have a lot of questions when I do get to see him. He cleaned out all those particles. Now I just have to figure out how to get audio and video at the same time. I am going to plug the thumbdrive into my TV and see if it will work on there but there are many steps to go through in doing that and I don't want to try something and lose the whole thing. I finally got to see my new roof. It looks nice. My roofer still has to come back and discuss new gutters.

Today would have been my Dad's 99th birthday. One of my daffodils bloomed today and I had to smile.

I hope everyone had a good day. It hit 65 degrees here today. Hey, if spring wants to come early I am all for it!!!!

    Take care.

    Love,

    Nancy

Hi ladies thank you for all the advice and well wishes! Day 2 radiation completed so far so good they continue to play Christian Music and I found another Cross where the radiation comes out from today while changing back into my clothes what a much needed sight! My amazing DH was laid off of work on Monday so now I have a new stress in my life no income and insurance issues. DH was the only source of income for us.

It’s a long story but he was set up and framed and the guy doing it threatened to sue the business so they let my DH go after 7 years of loyalty with them along with long hours and days away from home to make sure work was done. I’m not sure what the future holds I do know God is with us and will provide for us.

I’m trying not to be angry but it is so hard with everything happening at once, we have blown through our savings with medical bills and expenses so I do not know what tomorrow holds. I’m trying to understand why I’m here just to go through more hardships and emotional pain I did let my medical team know I need to speak to a counselor asap.

I will write more this afternoon when I can I’m trying to find financial assistance which is hard since last year DH made way over so we don’t qualify. I just don’t know what to do anymore I’m trying to grasp tightly to the Lord and not lose it.

    Love to you all 💕🌷

pinkbutterfly, my heart hurts for you and for DH who was treated so badly.

I totally understand the stress of worrying about medical expenses, insurance, etc. Do you qualify for Medicare yet? We just completed our signup, although DH is still working, and we have insurance through his employer.

Kerry, I have been praying for you since seeing your post. Today is my first PT so I wanted to get ready first as I didn't know how long my new shower routine would take.

I cannot begin to imagine how you and your DH feels at this time. I have been praying for you against fear. I don't know how this is going to work out but GOD DOES. He is not surprised by this and He is making a way for you now even though you may not see it yet. I pray that the Lord will give you wisdom and that you keep your eyes on HIM and not the problem. We will all lift you up during this most stressful time. Remember that the enemy does not play fair. Let God fight these battles for you and may He give you supernatural strength as you navigate these unknown waters.

@pinkbutterfly71 I am so sorry to hear about your DH. It is hard to understand why some things happen. Please know I will keep you in my prayers that God will make a way.

@bandwoman1234 Nancy, good to hear you are up and driving. I will continue to pray for your pain. Have you heard anything from dodgersgirl at all?

@sunshine99 Carol, how are you feeling? I always smile when I read your posts.

For some reason I am having a rough day today—just trying to move through it. Tomorrow I will see my oncologist, well, the PA. That's okay with me as she takes more time with me. It is also supposed to start snowing tomorrow. They are talking almost three feet in Denver. Hopefully we won't get that much. A lot of times it slows when it tries to travel south. The graders have been working hard in my backyard trying to beat some of the snow with removing everything down to bare dirt except for some trees.

Praying we all get through this last cold weather for the winter safely.

    Blessings, Chris

Oh Kerry, I am so sorry that your husband was mistreated by his employer. I pray that something much better comes along for him. This statement was written in one of my devotions for today, "God can do what you can't." I hope you feel His peace, comfort, and strength during this difficult storm.

I received a notice today that my cancer center's national payment processor (Change Healthcare) experienced a cyberattack, disconnected access to its systems, and is unable to reimburse providers. According to the notice, Change Healthcare is not providing details at this time if any personal or protected health information was compromised.

Have any of you received a similar notice from your healthcare providers?

@bandwoman1234 Nancy I appreciate you so much with everything you are going through (all of us) you are a huge help reminding me to keep leaning on the Lord. I feel myself start to slip a little but my inner spirit warrior grabs back a strong grip and reminds me I am the daughter of a KING; a KING who has already won this battle. I’m constantly praying Jehovah Nissi fight my battles 👏🏼and Jehovah Rapha heal my body 🙏🏼

i know God has a plan and I am ordered to wait on him and keep spreading his word and HIS unconditional LOVE for all. I even prayed for the person who made such horrible lies about my DH and I am trying to forgive him it’s so hard because my DH hired him 2 weeks ago and here we are now ….

I pray your knee is healing well and recovery is going smoothly for you 🙏🏼

    Hi dear sisters.

Kerry, I am glad someone at your cancer clinic has carved the crosses where they did. With the Christian music playing while you have your treatments I pray it will be a few moments in your day to let the Lord surround you with His peace and love. Praying for those who have mistreated us is one of the hardest things to do. We can ask the Lord to give us strength in forgiving them but that doesn't me we forget what they have done. Forgiving those who have wronged us only frees US up from bitterness and harm to ourselves. This situation may very well turn into a better position for your DH in the long run.

Chris, I am sorry you are having a rough day. I was feeling that today too and not feeling up to going to my first PT. Praying that tomorrow will be a new day of feeling better. I know you said you will see your PA too. Praying all goes well for you. I hope the snow misses you. I don't know if you saw my post mentioning a friend of mine who lives in Canada told me she was flying into Denver on Wed. I don't know what she will do if she can't make it. Some of my other friends are planning a reunion with her for May so I am not sure if she will be in the States indefinitely or not. My friends all began our teaching careers together and have remained friends all these years later. We were in a Bible study together as well. We had a reunion maybe 7 yrs ago so this will be great to see everyone again.

Hershey, I have heard nothing about any hacking situation but my network of doctors got hacked about four years ago and that might be the source of my identity theft back in November. I know you already have ID protection but I would definitely go through your health online sites and change passwords and any other places that might be vulnerable. I never finished setting up all of my ID protection and had hopes of doing that while recovering from this surgery. It was quite time consuming at the time and I had to spend so much time on the phone trying to undo what had happened. I will pray that you will be protected.

Carol, I had to laugh when you thought I said changing my socks instead of clocks. Yes, I did finally get my clocks changed and my socks. LOL Getting my pants on is probably my biggest challenge other than getting out of the tub. Hopefully my PT exercises will help with all of that. I found it interesting about the Amish having mistakes in their knitting. Was that intentional? I guess it is a good reminder that no one is perfect.

Today was my first PT and today I just didn't feel well in all ways. I had more knee pain but I had done quite a bit yesterday just getting my groceries into the house. My apt. was at 4 and I got their 15 min early. I didn't leave there until 6:10 so to say I am worn out is an understatement. My therapist was very understanding of my fibromyalgia which is always an issue for me when in PT. However he is not in any hurry and asked me if I had anything I had to get to. (I was thinking my recliner !!) I said no. My future Tues apts will coincide with my Zoom Bible study which is on a short break tonight. So this should be interesting. I just hope the PT doesn't increase my pain.

I hope you all have a good night and that all of the challenges that it seems we all have will be lighted by giving those burdens to the Lord to carry.

    Love,

    Nancy

Thank you, Nancy! I love and need those reminders. DH wants to tighten up some of our passwords. He likes to take a text and use the first letter of each word, followed by random symbols and numbers. For example: Fgsltwthghobs (For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son). I suppose you could capitalize the God words, but you see how it works. Fun idea.

    Love to all,

    Carol

Kerry, the banner is amazing! Are you the artist? I have been thinking about and praying for you and your husband. I truly hope and pray that your radiation therapy will continue uninterrupted and covered by your medical insurance.

Nancy, the Change Healthcare cyber breach is massive and very concerning. I went to pick up a prescription at Walgreens, and the pharmacist was explaining the breach to another customer. He said that it is disrupting hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies nationwide. CVS and Walgreens have been especially affected because they are the preferred pharmacies for so many insurance plans. Yes … I'm thankful that I have identity theft protection and that you do, too!

Chris, please stay safe during the snowstorm. One of my doctors was leaving to go skiing in the Colorado mountains on Thursday. He said the resort is expecting 4 FEET of snow from this storm!! That amount of snow is hard for me to imagine.
