I never noticed this thread before. I am a 2010 girl as well. I'm gong to read through some of the past comments and get caught up. I am going in a few minutes to the radiation oncologist for 6 week check up.

Barbara you look marvlous.
I had to go get my hair cut a week ago and it was 4 weeks since my last cut. Hair is growing fast, since I want to keep it short looks like I will be going every 4 weeks not 6 weeks to keep the shape I want. No color for me yet, have a splash of gray in the front with a bit mixed in rest. Getting used to the look.
Elizabeth, welcome, I just started in December.

Barbara the hair looks great and that guy sure is tall.

Thanks, Sherry and MJB. Yes, that dude is probably 6-3 or 4 and I am only 5-1. MJB your hair looks adorable that style!

This one is of the back of it (not that great of a pic) and you can see she colored the bottom a lot darker so it looks really cool.

Hey all, just checking in. Thought I'd post a pic of my sister and I. This is at the Dallas Crow Collection of Asian Art. We are having a great time and the weather is unusually nice for this time of year. 70's and windy, but clear. Today we are going to the Fort Worth Nature Center to do some canoeing. Hair is definitely a hot topic, sis likes mine a lot. JenC, yours looks great! Sherry and Barbara, hope your cut and color makes you feel likw new women! I feel like we are taking control of our lives again, don't you?

Just read this on BCO. A new study found that women who take ACE inhibitors for high blood pressure have more than 50% recurrence of BC. Wow! I think the study says that if you take ACE inhibitors with beta blockers or beta blockers alone, it does not increase recurrence risk. I don't have high blood pressure, but if I was on ACE meds, I sure would discuss switching to something else. The details are in this link. http://www.breastcancer.org/risk/new_research/20110422.jsp

Good morning ladies!
Been awhile since I've had some time to read/post. Working full-time for 6 weeks now and I'm pretty tired by the end of each day, and just crash by Friday. I see my radiation oncologist on Monday for my first checkup since finishing radiation in Feb.
I see the latest topic is hair. I have about an inch and a half growth since last chemo on Nov 3rd. Haven't touched it with scissors or anything! I had naturally curly hair before chemo, and it's coming back in very tight curls. I just bought a small-diameter round brush to see if I can get some of it to smooth out with the blow dryer. In a few weeks, I'm going to have my stylist give me some dark pink streaks (the old-fashioned pull-through-the-cap type). Just once I want some pink in there. Then I'll go back to some shade of dark auburn like I used to (Clairol #106 I think it was).
Now I'm gonna go read that article about blood pressure meds. I'm on two and I'm not sure if they're ACE inhibitors or some other ilk.

DM - Here is a link to the original journal ACE-inhibitor article too - link
With just a quick glance - there were only 137 women in the ACE-inhibitor group. That is not a large group and even though they adjusted for various covariates (BMI, stage, treatment) these results need to be replicated I think.
Diagnosis: 6/21/2010, IDC, 2cm, Stage IIa, Grade 3, 0/2 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2+0 -
DM - I thought you were going to stop doing so much research and start packing for you Canadian summer trip! Is this a new version of procrastination? Love you my friend.

Hi amyjo - how is daisy?0
-
amyjo- Hah! You know me so well! The empty boxes are in the living room and I am procrastinating. I HATE packing boxes, especially computers and things. I'm just going to gather all the old clothes we don't wear often and pack the electronics in between. Then we can just leave it all in Canada at the end of the summer. Everyone looks like hippies or lumberjacks up there anyway. My "old" clothes will look like I am dressed up!
The NYC AIDS walk is happening outside my window as we speak. Thousands of walkers streaming by all day long. I don't mind these fundraising walks, but certainly question the necessity of the paid organizer cheerleaders screaming, whooping and blowing horns to "encourage" all day long..... Do they think these people wouldn't walk without their perpetual loud cheering??? I guess I have become a true NewYorker, "shut up already". Oh Lord, now they are blowing those horns from South Africa!

Okay, just so there is no misunderstanding, someone wondered if I was being negative with my "hippies and lumberjacks" comment. I am an aging hippie myself, having grown up in the 60s. The down to earth lumberjack types (including the real one who sells me firewood) and free spirits who never left the 60s are the reason I love our island. They are truly refreshing after living with the Wallstreet lawyer types in NYC. Uh oh, now the stockbrokers and lawyers will be wondering!

amyjo - she is such a funny dog!0

Omaz - she acts more like a spoiled 3 yr old than a dog! She is "my only baby" now and I have really spoiled her. Sometimes I think she is too smart for her own good!

Where has everyone been lately? Missing you ladies. I know DM is busy packing to go to her little island for the summer, but where are the rest of you lovely ladies?

Hi Amyjo - I am here. How are you doing?0
-
I'm around. Getting ready for a weekend with 7 of Marty's grade school neighborhood friends. They all visited last year and had a blast so they are back again. We are going out to dinner every night and Sunday Marty's band is playing at the St Pete Pier all afternoon. So the gang will all show up and hoot and holler. I will post some pix of the gathering. Should be fun.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi AmyJo & Omaz, I'm here. What are you up to? I've been doing yard work and swimming today. Swimming makes me feel so good, especially my upper body. It really stretches my mx side out well, it always feels a little tight. I made some baked salmon and asparagus for dinner which was really good. Now I'm getting sleepy and might hit the hay early. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
