granny I have to gain weight for my BMX and reconstruction.  I am trying to eat lots of nuts, avacados and protein.  Altho I do love ice cream and have been having that at night.  So in the last two months I have gained 4 lbs.  with an average of 2 lbs per month I should be on target for my surgery.  I have to gain another 11-15 lbs.

Gee ladies, I wish I could give you all some of the 35 - 40 lbs. I need to lose!  Sounds like it is as hard for you to gain weight as it is for me to lose it. Wishing all good luck with which ever way you need the scales to go.

Edited to add:  It has taken me a year to go from 289 to 164.  I am 5' 2' so I have a ways to go yet before my onco, PCP and PS are happy.

Hello everyone, so nice to find a 2011 group.

Here's my time line. Had normal mammo in Nov. I am only 39 but been getting them since I was 35 due to aunt's dx. Anyway, found lump in Lt breast first of April. Had another mammo then digital mammo but it still never showed. Has US that showed main tumor and another lesion. Had US guided vaccum assisted needle bx and was dx with IDC the next day. Second lesion was benign. Had BMX on 5/10/11 with placement of TE. Had port placment 6/6/11 with start of TAC x4 on 6/8/11. Finished chemo 2 1/2 wks ago and am scheduled for implant exchange/port removal/ovaries out on 9/22/11.

I realize how lucky I have been that all has gone well and in a timely manner. I know some of you have been on the road for many months to years. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hope to be back to work by Nov and will have nipple construction and tattooing soon after. Hoping my hair grows back soon.

Good luck to all you beautiful ladies.

redninrah congrats on getting your surgical date.  I will not be having mine until March.  I just can't be out of my office from mid jan to mid march but emotionally I am ready to get it done and overwith.

rednirah - congratulations on getting your surgery date.  Wishing everything goes well for you and you can get on with your life post bc.

granny - I basically just cut out some of the sugar and chips and late night ice cream.  I ate like a sensible person for lunch and dinner at 6:00 p.m. and no late night snacking.  I also started drinking lot of water instead of coffee, tea and sodas.

    Woo hoo Red!

AmyJo, what is the forecast for Raleigh? We are waiting around here for Irene to do her thing. I don't want to take my DD up to school and have no power there. Are you getting all of the evacuees?? I was able to book a hotel room in Raleigh for Saturday night. She needs to check into the dorm between 12-4 pm on Sunday. I was planning to ask you about getting together on Sunday evening for coffee or something, but I don't know what the hurricane situation will be. What do you think?

Hope all the Easter Coasters are safe and those neede to evacuated have been able to get out and have safe travels.  I use to live on the coast so I understand what you all are going through.  Had to evacuate many times in the past myself.

Thanks, Barbara, it was a nice trip, but a lot of driving. It was 59 in Hendersonville when we got up this morning!

Shelley - so sorry I missed making a connection with you this past weekend.  I have not been on the computer much lately as there is so much for me to do around the house all of a sudden.  The storm was almost a non-event for us here.  We got some wind and 1 1/2 inches of rain and that was about it.  We have gotten more rain from this evenings thunderstorms than we did from Irene.

It's ok AmyJo, we will be making many more trips, at least for the next few years. I will let you know in advance. We stayed in a crappy hotel in downtown Raleigh because all of the rooms were full and there was no internet connection. Here is a picture of DH and I at the Duke Gardens.

Shelley - No need to stay at a crappy hotel, I have plenty of room and you are more than welcome to stay here anytime.  Just let me know when you are coming so I can be sure your room(s) are ready.  I will PM you my info.

Well, I'm scheduled for an ooph a week from today. My ovaries just won't stop producing cysts, and they keep rupturing. So bye bye ovaries. The docs say it's from the tami, which is also causing significant joint pain, so lately not having fun with the tami. My MO will keep me on the tami for a while after the ooph, see if the joint pain subsides. Otherwise, there is arimidex (  I'll be in instant menopause after the ooph ) but I've been told that that has joint SE's even more than the tami, so I don't know. For 5 months on tami, no SE's, then BAM.....2 things at once. Oh the joys............Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Hugs to all!

Thanks, all. We had a nice time in NC. We drove back through the mountains instead of on I-95 so it was more fun and scenic.

SherryC, I'm sorry you are having so many problems. I hope the ooph will be the end of the pain and worries. I have been on arimidex/anastrazole since January and I'm doing fine. PM me if you have questions.

I have a quarterly onc appt tomorrow afternoon so wish me luck. I don't have anything to report to him but I'm going to ask about scans. My scientific mind just can't get around the idea of not having any evidence that says I'm cancer free. I know what he is going to tell me though, that no scan is sensitive enough to pick anything up before I would have symptoms. How have you all handled this issue? I have read some people complain of pain to get a scan. Would you?

  • Elisimo
    Elisimo Member Posts: 1,262

Shelley - My onco is so good to me that I just have to tell him I am concerned and remind him when my last scan was and he will schedule what ever I want  just so I can keep my sanity.  Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.  If your onco will not schedule the scan you want just because you are concerned then I would be very tempted to complain of severe pain if that would get him to schedule what i felt I needed.  But then I was Stage IV and did not know I had cancer.  I had no symptoms at all to indicate there was anything wrong with me other than getting older.  Boy has that changed over the last year.

Panmars - sending good vibes to you sorry you have this additional issue.

I pray that all my BC sisters have a great weekend.  Doing well, feel like I am finally healed from my June surgery.  Tests done, check.  All good.

My son is marching tonight, first football game, I have signed up for concession duty, great.  All for the kids.

Shelly-Panmars is having the oooph not me.  I hope your onco will run the scans for your peace of mind.

panmars had that you are having all these problems.  I use to have problems with cyst rupturing but have not had that in years.  I know how painful it can be and feel for you.

mjbmiller glad you are healing well, you have been through alot with your reconstruction/deconstruction.
