annettek - Keep us posted on how you do with the rads.  I finished mine last March and still get spell of being absolutely exhausted.  Remember to start using the creams NOW and use them liberally and often through out that treatment and even for a few months afterward.  Let me know how many tats you get.  I had 11!  Take it easy and take good care of your skin on those tatas.

Well Annettek I have not had that done since I did not continue with recon but does sound painful.  I hope all goes well and you are happy with the end result.

annettek - Soooooo gald to hear the tattoos are not for rads!  Hope all goes well and you have an artist for a doctor that is doing the tattoos so you get the perfect results you deserve. What kind of reconstruction did you have?  I know you have told us before but I have forgotten, what kind of reconstruction did you have?  I have saline implants and I am not sure I am happy with that decision as I am still having some pain with them and the results were not exactly what I was wanting.  Hence the new PS I will be seeing on Monday.

Annette, with the recon will the tats be perky? I kid you not, the side that I had rads on is almost always perky so much so that I had to find a bra that was padded.... and with them not quite being in the same position.... Surprised

Well hope you all had a great weekend. I'm here to report that I spent a lot of it pulling weeds. You members of weed pullers anonymous can understand. It started in one little corner of the yard and by this evening I had weeded, mowed and planted a fall garden. It's a little late but maybe we will get lucky with the weather. I am pooped out and ready for bed!

I have been in bed sick all weekend.  DH had this and ended up in the ER last Monday.  Thought I was home free.  Sent to lunch with the inlaws yesterday and had to cut it short and get home quickly.  I am finally feeling better this evening.  I have had so many appts lately that I can't miss any more work.  But I think I'll be fine by tomorrow.

Aww Sherry that is CRAPPPPPY...so sorry- hope you are resting and will be feeling better tomorrow (big hug)

AmyJo- I had expanders then silicone implants put in. So far so good, no real complaints-I am really fortunate to have a really skilled PS who is almost as anal as I am about the results. What is very cool is that the woman doing the nipple tats also had BC and a double mastectomy as well...so I think I will be in good hands.

Samsue- I had nipples reconstructed that were waaaaaaaaaaaay big at first and now they have "calmed down" just a slight bump which would show under certain bras. I wouldn't want them any bigger or it would be a real problem! The tattoos will give me areolas and cover up the scars from the nip surgery.

    bIG HUGS TO EVERYONE:)

BarbA have you tried going to a acupuncturist for your back? I've been seeing one for a year now. First started when I fractured a couple of vertebrae - bike accident. He worked wonders for me.

Sherry, Hope your feeling better and the stomach has settled down!

Annette, wondered about the tats. My rad side gets excited easily....

Sherry - hope you are feeling better today.

Annette - hope the tats turn out perfect for you.  I know that will make you feel a lot better even if no one else ever sees them.

Barb - Did you get to see DH's naprapath?  Hope he can fix you up so that the pain is gone.

Saw a new PS today and was very pleased with the visit with him.  He says there is a lot he can to to fix the appearence of my breasts.  At least he can get me even and more symetrical.  He did tell me I would have the drains again UGH!!!! but I can live with that it I look a little more natural.  He even said I could go smaller if that is what I want.  Unlike the first PS that said there was nothing he could do unless I wanted to get bigger!  I was already bigger than I had wanted to be in the beginning.  I have been huge all my life and I wanted to be able to wear the same size top as the bottom.  I was tired of being a size 14 on bottom and an 18 on top.  Makes it a pain to buy clothes like suits and forget about dresses.  Now my bottom is a size 10 and my top is a 12-14 so I am at least able to buy everything from the same department!  Before it was Misses for the bottoms and Womens for the tops.  Oh well, there is hope now so I just have to wait for them to schedule the surgery.

Sorry for any confusion but I changed my user name from mjbmiller to walker2222 to celibrate the number given to me for the Race for the Cure I did last weekend.  I finished 5 m under last year.  Any how.

SherryC so sorry you are sick, there is a nasty bug going around. Hope you feel better very soon cuz.

Amyjo - glad you are hear positive things about your recon, I agree, hate drains but if the out come is positive go for it.

BarbaraA - ugg hope you can get relief soon.

I had my 3 month follow up with MO Friday and we went over the Bone Scan and CT scan.  Both as I said show now evidence of mets.  The bone scan did show that I do have arthritis in both knees and feet. Mild to Moderate in left leg and mild in right.  I had to use a walking cane for the race and it work great.  Did not stop and plowed on through.  The CT scan show scaring in the right lung which he said was due to possible infection and wants to do another scan to see if it is still there.  There is a possibility I hear it could be due to rads but MO said no not possible.  Any how.  Will need to do a bone density scan to see if the Femara is causing premature osteoporosis.  Have not had to use walking cane this week so far but it is finally turning cold here in TX and have no idea how it will affect my knees or feet.  May need to go see a rheumatoid specialist for it.  I am not for sure if I should get a second CT scan due to the expense of it just to see if there is still scaring.  What do you all think?

Barb hope your back is feeling better.  I hate when my back hurts.

Annette so glad you will be getting your nipple tatts.

Amyjo glad you found a PS that thinks he can help you with the outcome you would like.  Can't imagine going through all this and not like your outcome.  There are too many good PS to settle.

walker glad to hear no mets.  I struggle with the cost of medical as well.  I just decided to forgo my breast MRI and go with an US for that very reason. If something shows on US then of course I'll do the MRI.  But it is all regular screening for me at this point.

Thanks all I am feeling much better.  Stomach is not back to normal but I am at work and OK.  I went for PT eval this morning and she tells me my pec muscle is pretty messed up from rads, but she feels she can help me develop a home program that will work better for me to add to what I already do.  She said it is a good thing I have been so active in yoga or I would really be having problems.  So now PT for the next 6 weeks.  Think I am going to try to talk her into 4 weeks instead.  But anyway looking forward to getting some relief from this pain and something I can manage at home.

You staying at the Gaylord? Nice place!

walker - I don't think I would go to the expense of a MRI just to verify something I already knew. Scaring in the lungs does not just go away.  If it was mets it would either get smaller with treatment or increase if the treatments was not working.  In which case, it would be getting increasingly harder to breathe and you would be getting very short of breath with the least activity.  It might also feel like a big weight was sitting on your chest, just like you had severe asthma.  I have asthma and lung mets so I do lung function tests every month to be sure things are not progressing.  A lung function test can be done in the doctor's office and is a bare fraction of what and MRI is.  Long story short, if you are comfortable with what you already know I would skp the MRI at this point.

BarbA - so glad you are feeling better girlfriend.

Sherry = glad you are feeling some better. Hope the tummy feels better soon.

I am getting things ready to head to CA to be with my DD#1 next week. DH and I will be going to take care of the kids so she can rest after having surgery next Monday.  I am almost finished with the quilt I am making for GS#1.  Hopefully I will have it finished so we can take it with us.  I will be go glad to get that huge thing out of my sewing room!  Only smaller project scheduled for a while.once I have that quilt done. Smile

Naw- I am a MOTOR CITY gal by birth (although I did scram down to Texas in the ealry 80's:)

BarbaraA- Yep it is at the Gaylord...it looks like a cross between Disneyworld and Texas something (a psuedo alamo in the middle of it) hahahaha...it'll be fun and at least I don't have to pay for anything:) I like this conference because I go by myself with nobody else ...it is just to learn and find out what is going on in the industry so I am not stressed in any way- which is always a good thing. Has to be better than last year's- that was actually held at Disneyworld and it was 2 weeks after my DX...and 2 weeks before my surgery...not a happy time and I spent the whole time in a daze. Real professional...I was registering and one of our clients came up and wanted to meet the CEO of their rather impressive company...I smiled and shook his hand and he said "I have heard so many good things about you and your staff of researchers. It is nice to finally meet you.How are you doing?" At which I promptly burst into tears and said I have breast cancer and ran into the nearest restroom! OH MY GOD! hahahaha I can laugh now...poor guy...his mouth dropped open...what a class act he proved to be...their company sent me the most magnificent boquet of flowers followed by one of those huge live fruit thingys cut into flower shapes after I returned home. But the whole week was a damn blur at that dolphin swan resort...all the pink and blue and floral fauna made me sick because I was scared...I rented a car to escape and drove to Cocoa Beach and cried my eyes out all day. I got all weirdo and melancholy....and then drove back as the sun was setting convinced it was the last sunset I would ever see and all that crap. HOLY gee...am thinking it might be a bit better this year...bring on the ersatz alamo- i am taking my cowboy boots:)

I have no idea why I wrote all of this but apparently I needed to:) Thanks for indulging me.

annette - this is the place to be indulged when you need to say things.  Lot of {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} and hope you have a great time at the conference.
