Sherry, what is wrong with your reconstruction? I'm sorry to hear that you have to have more surgery.
I made an appointment to see a fertility specialist for later this month. There are two fertility specialists in Pittsburgh (at least, those covered by my insurance), so I guess they are pretty popular. Once I get that last bit of info, then I will make the decision whether to do tamoxifen now or in a year. My oncologist, of course, wants me on Tamoxifen now. I'm very ER+.

Boomer - so glad you got the appointment. So we will all be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. I have had a long day today trying to figure out all this Medicare stuff for Part D and Medigap coverage. My mind is overwhelmed so I think I will just forget it for a while. I found someone that will do all of the research for me and tell me what the options are for me to choose from. So I will look at all fo that when I get back from seeing Barb. I think I will watch a movie with DH and then go to bed early tonight. Hope everyone has a good evening. AJ

For those asking I was too thin for DIEP and my PS is one of the top docs in the nation for breast reconstruction and does tons if them so we ultimately decided to try TE's and implants knowing I had a high rate if failure due to rads. we decided if i failed i still had other flap options but he felt it best for my body to go conservative. All along he has been concerned with my skin being very thin. At my one month follow up to exchange everything looked really good and I was to follow up in 6 months. Four weeks later I developed a rather large divot in the upper pole of my right breast so I called and they got me right in. He took one look and said both of my breast have dropped 1 cm in the last 4 weeks and he felt they would continue going south. So he will remove the implants and do lots if stitching under the breast and the armpit sides of my breast. He said I will be very sore this time but he seems very hopefully that he can make it work. All along we agreed we would take it one step at a time. Funny I am not even upset by this. I do trust my PS, I feel he has been very honest with me and his work is beautiful. Despite the dropping I still look great. Just glad he did not ignore what was going on.

Elisimo - I recommend talking to you insurance agent about the Medicare supplemental and advantage programs. I'll be eligible in March and there is an excellent supplemental one that will cover every 100%, including prescriptions up to the "gap" thing, for under $200 a month! Right now I'm in a state insurance pool and it's costing me almost $800 per month. Good luck on figuring it out.
SherryC, that sounds frustrating, but it sounds like you have a great PS.
Boomer - good luck!

Hey y'all. I went to Shands today for a PS consult for DIEP. The PS I talked to does the TRAMs and thought I was a good candidate for either TRAM or DIEP. I have another appointment with a CT to check the size of my abdominal vessels next month and to talk with the PS that does DIEP. They took pictures and measurements and answered all of my questions.
Then I went to the UF Natural History museum which was really nice, and to their butterfly interactive experience that was really great! http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/exhibits/always-on-display/butterfly-rainforest/
They were even selling butterfly plants, some of which I had never seen, so I got a few new ones, complete with caterpillars! I'm so excited that tomorrow I will be planting them. I have a 4-day weekend!!!

Hey there everyone, I am off to FL in the morning!!!! Yeah!!!! It will be so good to see BarbA. I hope Shells can make a connection with us. Don't have any specific plans except to go hear Barb's DH band on Saturday night.
Shells - what are the new butterfly plants that you got? I would like to add some more to the one lone butterfly bush that I have. It looks so amazing when the butterflies are migrating and stop here for a few days. The bush literaly comes alive!
If you don't hear from me for a few days don't worry, I will be having fun with Barb. Hugs to all. AJ

Hey Amy Jo,
I got 2 golden milkweeds with monarch caterpillars (the flowers are solid yellow instead of red and yellow), something called Georgia catmint, snow squarestem, a batwing passionflower and one with edible fruit called naranjilla.
Did I tell you our symphony is playing in Lakeland Saturday night at the airfield? It is a veteran's day show. The tickets are $20. Planes will be flying and we will be playing. Should be interesting. Maybe you and Barb could come to my place and then go to the concert. Also there is a BCO Tampa girls lunch in Tampa. We could all meet there and then I could bring you home with me for the day....steal you from Barbara! :P

MondaysChild - I was late getting into Tampa so was unable to make the lunch. I would have loved to meet all of the Tampa ladies. Maybe next time. I will be headed back to NC at 6:00 pm on the 13th.
I am having a great time with BarbA. She starts her new job on Monday!! She has been busy getting ready for the new job and making the transition form the old one. She thinks this one will be bette for her as the traveling will be mostly overnight trips and all closer to home, instead of flying all over the country.0 -
Elisimo,
We missed being able to meet you but certainly understand why. Have a safe trip back and perhaps we can meet when you are back again.

Hey there my 2010 sisters!
Always so great to see you all checking in and letting us know what you are up to...sorry for the bumps some of you are experiencing right now, but know that I"m always praying for you guys...cuz I love you all!
I've been MIA as well...busy, busy, busy and not even with fun stuff...
Hubby leaves for another deployment on December 16th (he was gone April-Oct) of this year...this time he'll be gone for a full year...it sucks, but it's his last deployment before he retires...a million and one things to do along with my 6 month mammo and MRI coming up (YIKES!)..just praying all is good so we can get this next year down in the books and on to better things...
Weather is finally starting to cool down here, but has decided to start creeping up this next week...I"m not complaining..I enjoy the pretty weather during the day, and appreciate the chilliness at night when I can crack the window and burrow into my blankets...
As always, praying for the best for all of us...putting another year behind us soon and praying that this new years brings with it health, happiness and blessings for us all....
LOVE...
Tori

Tori - so sorry your hubby has to do another deployment. Deployments are always tough to deal with for the whole family. Prayers are with you both while he is away. AJ

Prayers and good wishes to you Tori- I think sometimes people don't understand the whole family serves our country....thank you for that
Big hugs

Tori my prayers are with you. I have so much respect and love for our military and their families. I am and oldie but goodie and my mother and daddy surved in the US Army and the Army Air Corp during WWII. Mother was a Lt. and daddy was a Sgt. Daddy stayed with the Air Force Reserves until he died at 58.
I have not checked in here too often since I finished radiation and started my harmone blocker.. My days seem to be filled with living and trying to get through each day. I had forgotten how much this forum meant to me starting in Feb., 2011. That was when I could finally accepted the fact that I had breast cancer. I am NED and will have a mammogram tomorrow and in January will have full body scans and bloodwork.
I feel good about the results. My only problem is what I think is the side effects of FEMARA.

Thanks for all the good wishes ladies! I appreciate it more than you know! December is almost half over! Holy cow!
Hubby and I spent the first week of this month in Cancun....spending a week to just enjoy the pretty weather there and relax. Such a nice break away!
This last week has been busier than ever and hubby has now been slated to leave on December 19th....Boo!
I have upcoming mammogram and MRI next week too! Praying that all goes well and that I'm not a wreck!
I hope and pray you are doing amazingly well....that tests and scans are coming back normal and clear....and that you are all having a beautiful holiday season!
Come back and share all your great adventures, ok?
Love to all!
