Coni: ooohhh I didn't think about the weight being water weight. Lets just say that's what it is!! LOL I will be praying for you also. You sound a lot like me. 0 pain tolerance and all!!! I am prob getting rads but we won't really know for sure until after surgery and the pathology comes back. My dr. thinks it was too close to the chest wall and I will have to have rads though. Sounds like a great way to spend my summer!! So glad I traveled all summer last year visiting everyone. This year will be spent at home in the shade!
God will bring us through this trial and make us stronger on the other side!

Karebear - so True has made us stronger I think for two ppl who have zero tolarance for pain and have just finished chemo we are strong! Did u have genetic testing? I'm positive for brca 2 so double mAsectomy for me and probably ovaries will also go..
How is the hair coming along.. I just finished taxotere and I'm about 10 days post chemo and seems it's slowly growing still some patches I'm a bit worried about but other than that I got some hair... This water does hurt my legs though feels like they rip off after going up the stairs I think is the water I don't know might call doctor tomorrow0 -
Coni: I had genetic testing and BRCA2 came back with a gene of unknow significance so we are treating it as a pos. and I will have a mastecotomy, radiation, and a year later i will have the 2nd side taken and reconstruction at the same time. I will also be getting my ovaries out. The appt with that dr is Wed. I am nervous about that one!!
My hair is white or see through and fuzzy. Not a lot but it is starting to come back!! I love rubbing it!
I am just waiting for my feet and fingers to stop tingling.

karebear - I decided to do both of them at the same time i figure, get it over with you know, as for ovaries did they tell you when they will take thme off? I know we are on out 30's, im 32 did they tell you what are the side effects for taking ovaries so young? i have yet to talk to my onc about my results, actually talk to anyone...i know the genetic counsellor said that i would age faster, have a risk of osteoporosis, and cardio problems (I didnt know ovaries kept our bones and heart healthy), weight gain..we would be going in menopause....i really want to talk to my onc but wont see him until may 30th.....way after surgery
as for my hair the same as you very fuzzy...I hear in about 4 weeks after last chemo just grows in fast so im praying for that, at first ppl were like oh hair is just vanity, but i leave in a city where is really cold, believe me you need hair to keep warm!! so is not just for the look, but for the warmth lol...and if God gave us hair is for a reason and no vanity, so i dont think is wrong to pray for that

Question for ladies in there 30's
I am 30 years old, feel a very palable lump in my left breast it goes from about the 6 o'clock position to the 9 o'clock...I would say it upon feeling is about 1.5 cm by 4.5..so long and thin..not sure how deep...it is moveable, it is lumpy, I think it feels hard, but my obgyn says it doesn't feel THAT hard...it does have a little give to it...I went for an ultrasound and diagnostic mammo. Nothing is seen...was determined to be hard fat...I am having a hard time accepting this...they did find a small fibrodenoma they classed as bi-rads 3...going to the breast surgeon next Tuesday to have it looked at...I plan on mentioning this lump as well. I DO have a similiar but smaller lump in my right breast that behaves similiar to the left one, it is longer than wider and feels slightly bumpy and has slight give to it...problem is over the last few weeks I have developed shoulder pain and pins and needles and upper back pain JUST on the left side...I have now convince myself that if this is cancer it is spreading to my shoulder bone...I know I need to calm but this is all so new to me. I am SO scared the radiologist was wrong...

Njdevchuc- dont stress too much about it, I use to get fibroids all the time and they can be painful, some tend to grow. I also had dense breast as well so I use to feel a big lump too, talk to surgeon and explain to him your concern, you can ask for MRI , or mammogram telling u have pain, but don't tell ur self is cancer though. Don't stress I know is hard and we worry ourselves ahead of time, also follow ur gut feeling if u think u need a second opinion just to get a piece of mind do it. But try to ask for MRI. But again dont stress..

My radiologist report says I have Fibrocystic breast....are they more prone to Fibriods? If I didn't have the shoulder pain and occasional pain in that area I think I wouldn't be in as much of a panic...wouldn't a Fibriod show up on a Mammo or Ultrasound? I just don't get how something that feels THIS palable doesn't show up...it is in probably the LEAST dense area of my breast, close to the breastbone...
How did your Fibriods feel? Are they hard or soft? Lumpy or smooth? Do they move a lot or are they more stationary? I know it may vary from person to person, I am just trying to get a general idea...and I am TRYING now to worry...I have good and bad days...I was lucky to be able to call today and move my appointment with the breast surgeon from May 3rd to next Tuesday April 19th. Do you think they will biopsy something that doesn't show up on a mammo or ultrasound?

Mine fibroids moved felt kind of round, soft ,they did hurt and they grew, again I was getting them since I was 20 I had like 6 removed good thing that I kept checking cause that's how I caught the cancer one...my breast would get very painful specially when I would get my period, yes fibrocystic breast are prone to fibroids and tend to be dense and painful. That's what I have too, fibrocytic breast my fibroids did show up on ultrasounds and mammogram, maybe it is the dense part of ur breast that u feel.. The dense part of my healthy breast feel like a big lump with little lumps on it..and it also moves but that's the tissue my breast is made of... Talk to ur surgeon he will tell you if u need a biopsy, I know is nerve wracking but a lot of radiologist can catch anything on the ultrasound mine did with just and ultrasound and I also had a lymphnode under arm which help her:) it is good.that u f checking it..justt for peace if mind.... Again do follow ur instinct sometime it good to follow if with the doc u still feel like there is something ask for biopsy or MRI just again for peace of mind.... But don't think the worst, the mind is very powerful...NeXT week will come fast enough...try to keep Busy i know the waiting is very hard...

Thanks Coni...I find SOME peace of mind that I have a similiar (but smaller) lump on the other side in a similiar location. It makes me think that is is more likely just a hard part of my breast. I have been driving my normally very patient husband crazy...I told him if everything was OK on the ultrasound and Mammo I would leave well enough alone, but here I am almost 3 weeks later, crazier than ever LOL...I have to laugh...I am prone to probems accepting what doctors say and thinking I always have something wrong with me...
0 -
i know what you mean...but like i said dont worry too much, go with what the radiologist says for now and wait to see what the doc says, a lot of the time radiologist can detect if it is cancer just with the ultrasound or mammogram.....so dont worry too much about it... keep me posted! good luck and try to keep yourself busy! dont go reading things on the internet, believe me makes it worst...

I'm 30. I dont have a husband or family, and most likely the chemo has stopped my ovaries from working, so if/when I find the "right" guy ...I'll most likely adopt I sure didn't expect breast cancer at 30!!
Having surgery in the 1st week of May, double mastectomy + either sentinel or axillary nodes removed (depending on biopsy), but am done with chemo (AC/Taxol). Might have to have radiation, won't know until after surgery. Planning immediate reconstruction - expanders.

Wolfinspring I know how u feel I'm married but no kids, period is gone and ovaries will also have to go, soon having double mAsectomy may 5th few days after u... Keep me posted and wish u a speedy recovery!

I just turned 34 years old and I was diagnosed at 33. I was engaged to be married and go married in the middle of chemo. Thank god for my husband. His support has helped me through this. But I have no kids and I am just finished with my treatment. I am in the middle of reconstruction. Is there any more ladies in their 30's surviving BC?

I am 38, married, one child. Tomorrow I have my first chemo treatment of FEC -> T. After 6 cycles of chemo I will have to go through the surgery and most probably radiation. My breast hurts... My onc told me that during biopsy they might damage/pull one of the nurves in my breast. Does anybody have the same?
0 -
I was dx at 35 6 months after I got married. I had already decided not to have children tho. My ovaries shut down during my TAC x 6, it came back 6 months after finishing chemo. Do not give up on having children just bc you had chemo. Two women in their 30's who went through chemo at the same time as me have gotten pregnant. One had a beautiful baby girl a few months ago and the other is 22 weeks pregnant right now.
Somnia, my breast hurt for a long time after the biopsy. For me it was 7 weeks from biopsy to my surgery, I didn't do chemo til afterwards. It ached the whole time during that 7 weeks. Then I had a masectomy, so that pain stopped, but I had a lot of other nerve damage as a result of the TRAM recon I had- I had a lot of itching and shooting pains, I found a Vitamin B complex tablet to be very helpful in helping nerve pain - it acted fast like a painkiller- made a huge difference!

hello wolfinspring,
I was diagnosed at 33, had chemo in 2009 (last one in Nov. 2009) and like you I was afraid chemo had shut down my ovaries and that I would never get my period back. Well, I have been getting a regular period for the past 3 months, which is 14 months after my last chemo!! So it can take a while to come back... Maybe chemo did not shut down your ovaries, it may all come back to normal in a year or so!

I'm 39, married 13 years with 9 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. Just diagnosed recently with DCIS right breast. Things are stil up in the air right now, but planning with surgeon on bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with tissue expanders. Not sure what type of implant is best, any suggestions let me know. Also, some micro-calcifications found on other breast, guess I'll know more after mastectomies.
Sorry to see so many of us young women on here, but glad to see there is so much support. It is very comforting.

I heard back about the pathology reports. 7 of the 19 lymph nodes they took tested positive. Also they found that there is still tumor in the incision site. Soooooo we don't know what we are going to do at this point. I see the dr on Fri and he should have some answers by then.
I am still really sore. My percacet is helping though.

I'm 37 years old, married with 2 kids (8 and 6) was trying before all this for number 3-now on hold- and was diagnosed in March this year with DCIS- last week I had a skin sparing mastectomy and 6 nodes removed-all clear. I'm now trying to rest up with drains coming out of me and deal with the numbness/itching/shooting pains- anyone have any recommendations for that?! Am feeling very very lucky and in awe of all you strong ladies out there going through much worse than me right now...also in shock at how young we all are-but if this was 10-30 years ago maybe things would've been a lot worse and we would have been older-who knows?

Hi I am 38 years old (thus the name LOL) I am married for just over 18 years now to a wonderful man. I have a 6 year old little girl.
I had a lump removal on April 21 And will see the Onocologist on May 9 to find out for sure what is going to happen. I was told because of my age and family history (father had BC) I will be having radiation and most likely chemo.
It has been suprising to me as I tell people about the BC the number that know someone else with or had BC. My surgern (a general surgeon) says he does 4 BC surgerys a month. Just for this local area.

Lust4life: I had a mastecotomy on April 21st and just had my 2nd drain removed today. The numbness and pain is driving me crazy!!!! You can't even brush by my one arm with out me crying it hurts that bad. Percocet works well just hate taking it and the side effects of passing out while taking it!!
I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Karebear76...my surgeon advised my against it but I used Ice...it was the only thing that helped take the pain away. Its been a year since my surgery and I have all the feeling back in my arm. I hope you feel better

Hey Karebear,
sorry to hear that you are still in so much pain- one of my drains came out today (yay!) and second one will come out tomorrow- can't wait (although that is the breast one and coiled around inside, so I'm a bit nervous about it coming out-having said that I didn't feel the back one at all due to the numbness) I'm not on pain relief now, I just have numbness and swelling on the back and side/underarm and the odd twinge/itchiness. Sending healing,pain-free thoughts your way and to all other ladies suffering this right now
