Like you Ilimae, we were on the road all week. Hope you had good travels. Got home to the scale last night and by some weird stroke of luck I only gained a pound. We definitely drove way more than we moved, except to reach my hand into whatever bag of snacks was being passed around the car!

Good job to the losers and high five to everyone for coming here and keeping track of their ups and downs!

twohobbies, noticed you were on zoladex with anastrazole. Can I ask if you are still on the zoladex and if you have side effects from it?

gk - Yes I have been on ovarian suppression for a long time. Originally was on zoladex but then switched to lupron. It puts you in menopause so you have menopause symptoms. I'm actually off lupron for a second month trying to determine if I am in menopause.

2 Hobbies thank you. That's kind of where I'm at, at some point I need to trial off the zoladex and run the blood tests and see if I'm in natural menopause. I would like to do that sooner rather than later but my MO is wanting to hold off on that as long as possible. I have a lot of concerns about my bone density. So I'm very interested in what other people are trying to do while they're on ovarian suppressors and aromatase Inhibitors to maintain their bone density. It kind of freaks me out that my bone density is only being tested every two years. I'm going to be pretty upset if I get a bone scan in another year-and-a-half and have osteoporosis. I just wish we worked more on prevention rather than just waiting till something happens and then starting a bio phosphate.

GK - I have to say its so complicated getting off O/S. So I had a one month off blood test and my estrogen is low but my FSH is also low - it rises in menopause. So I'm off another month to see if the bloodwork shows anything different this month. If you can take tamoxifen, you can go off the O/S and take tamoxifen for a few months to more reliably determine if you are in menopause. I recurred on tamoxifen so no point in me doing that method. You might ask your mother and sisters, if any, when they hit menopause as this may give you an approximate age to check.

As far as bones - 1. EXERCISE! I have been exercising a lot and my bone density was actually improved in my hip and only slightly worse in my spine at the 2 year check-in. I was curious if the spine result was because I was doing the wrong kind of exercise, but when I researched it, the bone in the spine is less influenced by exercise than the hip. 2. My MO did offer me prolia if I wanted to, and this is because it decreases bone mets some too. They are offering it to all but I decided against it because my bone density is OK at this point and I'm sick of meds. Had they offered it to me 4 years ago, I would have been more likely to do it, but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as far as treatment, I didn't want to start something that I didn't think was absolutely needed.

twohobbie, thanks! Just to clarify: you have to go off the anastrozole while you trial off the OS?

hi gk, welcome to the thread. I'll answer- yes- you have to go off the AI because it doesn't work unless you're menopausal- naturally or chemically induced. Like TwoHobbies, I was on Lupron for a year, but this year I'm trying Tamoxifen. Not menopausal. Have my period today. Yay. Not. Anyway, exercise is the answer to build bone. Down 1.7kg! At last, keto is paying off ๐Ÿ˜. Still not back at the gym due to back issue but telling myself it will be even better when I am! And I went out to lunch twice, even better. Good luck to everyone this week.

Holding steady at 144... after my 4th I was afraid I had gained! It took a few days to totally get back on track! Damn potatoe chips! They kept calling my name. I crave salt (which started just before the BC diagnosis) and the chips were sooooo good! Back to cucumbers and carrots finally feeling satisfied with those!

Weighed on home scale this morning. Flew home to Louisiana yesterday for two weeks to visit my 95 yr old mother. Weight was good. 168.5. Nothing to eat in the house last night except peanut butter and stale crackers! And a year old frozen dinner in the freezer! Will have to make a trip to the grocery store. Hope to attend WW, go to the gym and eat smart this two weeks

Up 2.4 lbs, not sure why ๐Ÿค” but I have not been walking much since I feel last month, doc says I need physical therapy for the knee injury now. Diet is ok but I suspect thyroid issues and/or tamoxifen are making it more difficult. Oh well, Iโ€™ll keep at it.

Down 1.8 to 149.6. Officially in the 140's for the first time in a very long time. 10 more lbs to goal weight. The summer is easier for me, less boredom eating, and when it's very hot not much appetite. But these last 10 lbs will be tough, that's for sure. Slow and steady.

My original much loved WW leader became ill, and we have a substitute the last several weeks (looks like it might be permanent). I don't much care for her, she has a tough time getting the group talking, and has a whiney voice to boot. I realized today that when I reach goal weight I just have to go once a month, so perhaps my new WW leader will be the biggest motivation of all to reach goal weight lol!

Up 1.5. I suspect going down on my anti-depressant may have been partially to blame. So back to my former dose.

Vargadoll, salt is yummy on tomatoes.

Wren- can you believe this southern girl doesn't eat tomatoes?!? I have never liked them and living in NC with all the tomatoe it's a shame!

Pat..hahaha! Get your motivation where you can!

That is a shame! We pamper and baby our here hoping to get some ripe before fall. DH got really early ones this year and we've had 3 ripe ones so far. I grew up in Okla and always ate them out of the garden.

Yay for losses and steady states. Illimae, hope the knee feels better soon. PT should help get you moving again,

    Down half a kilo.

LOVE tomatoes. They don't come in until August in MN, where we spend the summer. Then they are very expensive but I pay the price the farmers ask.

145lbs. I want to be at 135. Started Tamo a week ago and feel so tired everyday. Did my first Zumba class today. So tired, I canโ€™t get up to make dinner for my teenage kids and a friend coming over. I ordered Baos and dumplings for them VaRGADOLL - your lunch is inspirational. I am going to make myself a salad now. Thank you!

Oh, Vargadoll you may not be a southerner not liking tomatoes. I lived in Greenville, SC and my favorite memory is we would all bring our homegrown tomatoes and bread and mayo and make tomato sandwiches at work! But I do also love your cucumber salad. I'll do cucumbers alone, or tomato, cucumber and onion.

I am down .4 this week. I started a super clean week Monday so I hope next week will have something really good to report. So far I'm not straying.

Oh, gkbuser - didn't see your post but yes, what Falconer said. It's actually worse to be on an AI if not in menopause, so they are very careful.

145.5 today: up 7.25 lbs since my last weigh in on June 20. Iโ€™ve been eating whatever I wanted while I was on holiday. Lesson - when I donโ€™t weigh myself and donโ€™t restrict myself, I eat too much and put on weight! Iโ€™m going to start alternate day fasting so that I can get back on track because I had been doing really well until recently. I think I can lose that weight again in a few weeks. Never give up, Ilove to read everyoneโ€™s posts. X

Hi ScotBird I can relate to u, putting on weight when away from home and normal routine. I'm doing restricted feeding, a window of about 5 hours every day to help get a hurry on with my weight loss. Good luck to u with this method!

I'm been on a girl's vacation with the ladies of my family. Along with being very active,we ATE our way through Denver. Kinda worried about the scale on Wednesday after sampling ice cream at every stop!!!

Down half a kilo, thought it would be more ๐Ÿ™. I found melted coconut oil FAR easier to swallow than solid, which is good seeing I'm having up to half a cup a day ๐Ÿ˜ to meet my macros.

  • heidihill
    heidihill Member Posts: 1,858

Ruth hope there's still some of Denver left.ย Loopy

Wow, that's a lot of coconut oil. I have to say, as someone who grew up in coconut country, we used coconuts for everything but never to drink the oil. Things have changed since. Congrats on melting that half kilo.

Up 0.3 kilo. Could be muscle gain, right?

  • vargadoll
    vargadoll Member Posts: 1,942

Ruth- I saw all those fitbit steps I think you earned the ice cream!

    HeidiHill- of course it's muscle!

The scale said 143.6 then 144. Then 143.6 it bounced back and forth! I go with holding steady at 144 for 2 weeks now. Which is ok with me! I will cut back on intake just a litthe because I don't know where I could fit more exercise right now!

Ugh, up another 1.4 partly due to a recent bread binge, Iโ€™ll spare you all the delicious details ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • ruthbru
    ruthbru Member Posts: 47,793

    Up 2, no decimal point.

Varga, I see your fitbit steps too, and it would be impossible to move more than you do already!

Down 1.6 lbs at WW meeting on Monday. Total loss of 8 lbs. I am still wearing my size 14 clothes but the waistbands of the shorts are looser and comfortable. I hate wearing tight clothes. And when I look at my side view in the mirror, I don't look like a 75 year-old woman who's slightly pregnant! Stomach much flatter.

Six lbs away from goal weight and free WW meetings.
