So cool that you all did so well over Valentine's Day and still celebrated! A very impressive group here! Me: I upped my exercise this week -kind of like a sprint in the middle- to burn more and I will weigh in after that.

I was down a pound today; the Valentines sweets must have worn off. I will be on vacation the next week; can't promise about the food, but will hopefully be getting a lot of activity in. Carry on, girls!! Kiss

On another thread, this article was posted about wheat and gluton allergies:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/wheat-gluten_b_1274872.html?ref=healthy-living

I'm not a scientist, but I have known for years and years that I can't eat wheat except occasioanlly and then only when my body is very active, healthy, and thus can process the wheat readily. Wheat makes me crave it if I get too much and that's both uncomfortable and a form of food allergic reaction. Five days to several weeks with it out of my system will remedy that craving.

(Like other indulgences: the body can use them up quickly in small or occasional doses when it is healthy and running well, and -(boo)- not so much when it is sluggish or inactive or not healthy -when you crave the bad stuff the most. Ever know times when "just looking at a piece of cake" made you put on five pounds? Or other times when you could have cake every night for a week and no problemo?)

Anyway, I thought this article might be helpful to consider for anyone trying to lose weight here.

Things are catching up to me now . . . gained 1.5 lbs last week and can't bring myself to get on the scale today. I'm off the rails! But I do know I have to get serious. My goal this week is to get back on track by using loseit.com and I will continue to follow you all for inspiration and motivation. (Hey Kimberly, How was that berry/chia jam? Mmmm, that sounds so good) Take care everyone.

Down 2!  Finally, I have been at this since New Years with no loss.  It was pretty discouraging.  This should keep me inspired.

Break even week. I blame too many mixed nuts.

Quiche, About the raspberry jam, I goofed it up and added some water, expecting it to gel more than it did, and I added quite a bit of the chia. Hate to admit it but I just added 1/3 container of Edy's Slow Churn to about 4-1/2 cups of that crushed raspberry sauce and returned it to the freezer.  Hoping I can use it as a scoop of fruit freeze after dinner.  Love those Omega 3's in something other than fish or fish oil, because I've never been fond of fish.

I also made roasted spicy chickpeas from scratch and that did turn out.  Mine were pretty hot/spicy so I have been using them on salad topped with caesar dressing, roasted chicken breast, roasted chickpeas, and nuts.  The spicy chickpeas kind of rev up the slightly bland flavor of the chicken and it all has a lot of satisfying crunch to it.  I think this salad would be great for someone on low carb or diabetic diet.

Down the pound I gained over Valentine's Day. Surgery this afternoon, so maybe going without food will give me a head start on next week.

Well, February seems to be my challenge month. First got off the meds I was on and that changed my fluid balance, then ate a few too many salty/sodium foods the past few days, which, although low in calories,  bloated me, and, of course, there was Valentine's Day... and between diet changes and stress this week my digestion has been um, not working...(for three days...)...

Add to that my observations of others and myself that February, this year anyway, has triggered something like a squirrel holding pattern or a late winter eating or holding onto weight pattern in many people... and I am up 5 pounds this month, but still in my "zone" (range of weight I don't want to go out of). How much of that is bloat or not is yet to be determined.

My thank you here is that this thread and all you ladies helped me tremendously to get on the scale today and see what was real today anyway. The variables I understand may be temporary, but my avoiding the scale could also put me into procrastination-mode and out of my "orbit." It's good to check in *now* rather than wait until my weight is way out of my zone, where correction measures are closer rather than farther out in space.

    So thanks for this thread!!

(And in my mind, when I feel bloated, I feel like I have no idea what happened to my body! I only know that it's important, over a week, to figure out how much is temporary bloating and how much needs re-addressing for my fitness maintenance. And.. it could have been  -in my mind it was-  worse!)

Helping each other get and stay healthy and cheering each other on and getting the support is GOLDEN! Thanks!

Hey ladies !  I have been MIA for awhile.  My eating and exercising have both been bad and life has been one stressful event after another.  But, I am actually down 5 lbs to 165.  Before we all get excited I have to confess I had a stomach bug followed by a colonoscopy which meant I basically didn't eat for 5 days.  Also, I am taking a week off from Tamoxifen.  I will change to Arimedex next week.  I wonder if that also helped with the weight loss ?  Anyway at least it's nice to fit in my jeans for a couple of days.

Lost the 5 that I put on last week with DS birthday and Valentine's day.  Today, though I've been hitting bad stuff so need to get that back in check.  Next 4 days will be plenty of walking and a 5K run on Saturday so hopefully next week will have a nice drop.

Actually last time I was in DisneyWorld (2009) was when I started losing and have kept it off so maybe I just need to go there every 2-3 months instead of 2-3 years!

Patoo enjoy the 5k.  I am so impressed you are doing that !

HA, don't be impressed until I come back and say I finished it!  (Thanks)

Patoo I'm impressed you even try.  To me doing a 5k is unimaginable.  I have tried to run numerous times.  Couldn't even do it in my 20s.  Between the pain, inability to breathe and uncontrolled leakage from various parts I just can't imagine how people do it.  I think it's great !  Have fun !

Patoo, I like your theory about Disney World. I want to go!

Patoo: How exciting! I remember when you first started thinking about a run and then started training. Way to make it happen! Is this the run you're doing with your son?

Truebff: I took your post to heart and ALMOST got on the scale yesterday, but my DH got on first and advised me not to ha! We've both been sharing the same indulgences lately. I've been able to keep my weight under 160 for quite a few weeks now and I know if I see it above that, for me, it would be less of a motivator and more of a psyche out. Feeling cruddy is a great motivator though and that's driven me back to loseit.com and I have a plan for exercise this week so by next Wed I should be able to face reality and hopefully nothing greater than 159.5 :-)

Up 700 grams! Where did that come from?? It must be muscle mass from all the running.

Down .7 this week.... I guess I should be happy with that after the Daytona 500 party we had (drinks and lots of food).  Back to the drawing board for next week!

Up .4 this week - yuk.  Having a bad run lately - after losing 16 pounds last year, I've gained 1.4 in February.  I think I need to shake things up.

    pat01 Member Posts: 913

Down another .5 lbs  to 168 - so a total of 2.5 lbs in the last two weeks.  Now mind you, I've been trying to lose weight since jan 1, with the scale just beginning to move.  But I think the exercise I've been doing since new years is paying off, feel much better about everything.

Ok, gave up on Weight Watchers............way to slow and depressing for me...I honestly think its the age, vs, the fluid retention from several Meds..................well anyway, I am going to tell you what I'm doing now, and if one of you "laugh", I'm going to get my "bitch slapper" and come after you...............

Here goes.......I might have already told you gals about this, if I did, bear with me again........................well I saw this woman on the "news" in our area who was talking about "gastric band hypnosis".............the following day, Dr. Oz. had a man on named Paul McKenna..........he was talking about the same exact thing......it was also on the same order as "gastric band hypnosis".....well I listened,  was impressed with him, and so was Dr. Oz......a few people were on with him who had tried his weight loss plan.

He has a book called "I Can Make You Thin"......it comes with a hypnosis CD........well of course I went right to my computer, and to Amazon, and bought it.........only $15.00, and a lot cheaper then WW, and I have spent so much on "diet gimmicks", what the hell was one more.

It came, I read..............I listened.........you listen to the CD everyday..............now remember I said "don't laugh"...............but I find it is working.............I lost 3 lbs while doing this, and it is only 2 weeks, and it took me 4 months to lose 10 on WW, not to mention $39.95 a month for their "speed pass"............

This man's voice is so soothing, and the belief is, the things he tells you to do while your listening to the CD, stay with you after its over..............and honestly, its true.........he tells you to visualize yourself thinner during the hypnotic state, and  like every other weight loss program........eat slowly, chew a lot, take time to taste the food, put your fork down between bites, and when your nearl being full................STOP EATING.................well we all know this right...........................but guess what...................I find myself now doing these things.............especially the "when your near satisfied, and full...Stop Eating"......................unlike all the other times.........................I guess hearing this while under this hypnosis state....stays with you...........I have only 1 problem..................his voice is so soothing, and I listen to him so intently...............I fall asleep part way through the CD...........imagine how good I could do if I could stay awake, and really hear him.

Ok, I have stayed awake many times, but you will find yourself in a semi-hypnotic state, and at times falling alseep.............which he says is fine.............................hey I've tried everything else, and guess what............doing this everyday gives me that ..........relaxing, down time, something for me 45 minutes that we can all use........................worth a shot...................

Up a 1 lb higher than I was hoping, but I've decided that will be my new baseline. I'm starting fresh from this point. Seems we have so many celebrations in our fam from Nov thru Feb (ending with my anniversary last week). I should have a lull now until about June and plan to get it together and keep it together for awhile. Got back on loseit.com last week and that's been great. Going to buy some new running shoes this week and get started on the Couch to 5K running program.

HI GALS-- been avoiding this thread....  Embarassed.....

I am done with giving into comfort foods or comfort through foods!!!  while I put on a pound since I last was here, I am down that pound this week.  My hope/ intent is to lose about 10-12# while I am still on chemo---  3 more months of this stuff (plus whatever is left in the year of herceptin) just so that I can be comfortable in my clothes and body. I refuse to buy anymore baggy clothes!!!

My physical energy is low so my exercise is matching that.  I rode for quite some time on Sunday and it left me weak the rest of this week.  I plan on still riding etc but maybe at a slower kinder pace????

    Good luck to you all-Q

Down 2. I refuse to believe that this was the weight of the breast removed last Wed. DH needs to watch what he says.

Ahh, finally down a pound for me.

Wren, you did great if you are down weight after surgery.  I always come out 8 pounds heavier from the saline no matter what they take out or off.

Ducky, I will bite on that CD for gastric bypass hypnosis if I can find it in a bookstore.

Sigh, sometimes -what happened in February should stay in February!!-  easy to slip up so slow to get back down. Must keep paying attention. Today, I am 1/2 pound less (after a 5 pound February gain).

Have to admit, it helps me getting on the scale and being accountable here.  It's when I don't get on the scale that I get into trouble. Reality check!

Kim.............I got mine on Amazon.com, and got free shipping............honestly I really think it is working....................

Today I made homemade soup for my son, chicken salad, oatmeal cookies, and sent him a Pepperidge Farm Chocolate Stripe CAke............Normally I would have eaten the cookies while making them, and of course attacked the soup...................My grandson picked it up 1 hour ago.....completely in tact.............touched none of it............as soon as I feel like doing something "stupid" the damn guys voice kicks in, and I think about what I'm about to do, and don't do it.

The good thing also is.......he tells you to only eat when your truely hungry, so while you are told to stop eating before you are "full"...............you think to yourself....................hey, as soon as I'm truely hungry again, I can have something else...........................and now I can tell when I'm hungry, or when I'm just eating for the sake of eating............which I did all the time...............I am a "bordom eater"..........................

His book is also great..............loads of tips, good information, and some humor along with it.............I'm pleased..........at least now for some "unknown" reason, I seem to have control over myself.................and I know its not water weight, cause that was already lost when I began WW, so this is true "fat".........................I will keep you guys informed on how it continues.......................hey for $15.00 its worth it, and think about it................even if it doesn't work, but puts you to sleep, at least you get a nap.............hahahahahahahaha................................I also have Bose headphones, which drowns out all sound around the house...............you hear nothing  but his voice, but you could accomplish that by going in a quiet room too..................good luck to anyone who tries it ..........actually gonna go listen to my CD right now..........Smile
