You two look like you are having a great time together :-)

Kate - that sounds interesting, I wonder why I never get invited to bc conferences :-( lol Good to hear you had a good time in the big smoke.

I picked up my new lens yesterday! Exciting, now using it to snap anything that moves, and lots of things that don't lol.

When I was driving into work this morning I was making a mental list of my camera gear as insurance has to be updated, and realised that my gear is worth more than my car! lol mind you my car isn't worth much these days, but still ... :-)

    Have a great one everyone

    Trish

Racy, I basically ate less lol sorry - no great secret.  As I lost more weight and after being off Arimidex I had more energy so was able to start exercising.  Nothing radical, I mainly started using my WiiFit that had been sitting gathering dust since the bc dx.

So, eat less, cut out biscuits, chocolate and all the other yummy things.  I have skim milk not full cream, low fat yoghurt, very little cheese these days and I ate a lot of Lean Cuisines for the first few months until I got used to the smaller portion size.

Typical eating diary for me now is:

    Breakfast

Special K cereal with low fat vanilla yogurt and skim milk

    Lunch

Small breadroll - no butter or marg - with some sort of cold meat (usually I do a corned beef in the slow cooker on a weekend and have the leftovers on my bun for lunch) I put homemade chutney on the breadroll with the meat.

    Dinner

Lean Cuisine or small portion of homemade stir fry with boiled rice, small piece of pork, grilled with salad.

You get the picture.  I now have two Tim Tams at night with my cuppa and usually have a couple of mandarines and a banana (small) during the day.

Now I exercise most days for around half an hour.

    Good luck!
    Trish

Thanks Trish! That is amazing. My diet is quite lean, in theory. I think exercise is key. Good on you!

Hello Girls. hope everybosy doing ok today, It is windy again today, gosh that is so annoying. But never mind. Got abit of a shock this morning, we en-listed with work and income to see if they had anybody on their books  that would be employable to us. They said, they would send details thru the email and we would decide if they would be suitable. well this morning i got a text saying, he had been given my address and turns up at my house, private dwelling and starts questioning me about the job. i was  shocked, as i was not expecting that to happen, i took his details, and tho i aplaud him getting out there for a job, i am shocked that he was given my  address.  My mind did a blank as i think i went into shock abit. no warning that this could be happening. i was trying to read the job listing and could not read, or did not click for a minute as i have advertised my self again and was already setting up interviews, but this threw me right off.  i rang them up and asked why  he got my address.  and who gave it to  him.  i felt  abit bad incase  i over reacted. but he knows now where i live, if we dont give him the job, am i going to get hassled. we have had phone  abuse last time with texts and phone calls from a person. so anyway  wrk and income looking into it, they were livid. see what happens from there.

    Take care girls.

I have had no calls yet from work and income regarding this incident. so they must be sorting something. BIL said,  Don't  get too stressed about it, it is just a minor error, i told him to take a running jump, he would not like ike it if they came on his property, he would be the first to moan.  i said this has left me open to being abused and compromised my saftey as i am home a lot on my own when hubby working. mind you i have 3 dogs, one at one door, one at the other and one in the middle and they all did there balls when he was here, even the one who hardly barks, he was shifty and he kept looking at the dog at the front too, and  my shihtzu inside, but she would be putty in their hands, the lab/rotty would be different  and the boarder collie would smile at him, he does that, lift his top lip up and smiles, esp dinner time. its hard case. but  still its good to have them  there. i was just  annoyed that my privacy was breached. we do the interviewa at another venue to avoid that happening.

Not sure I want to go out at night though - I might be the party pooper.

MRI tomorrow - not looking forward to it at all - the cost mainly. $706 this year. Wish me luck.

Just a quick post from the airport. Had the most wonderful time in Australia and especially with Chrissy. Wish the whole thing could have been longer. Do hope you are resting Chris.

Will post photos and comments once I get back home. (And after the birthday party, DGD is having her 4 year old party tomorrow, birthday is Monday.)

OMG Midnight - your story sounds horrible - hope they sort it out for you xoxo

Ok girls, I've called a few hotels in Brissy - Oaks on Margaret is $316 per night for 2 bed apt, so that's just over $200 each for the two nights.  Oaks on Charlotte is $309 per night - so very similar Festival and M on Mary don't have rooms available (well one of them does but at over $600 per night!!)

So Kate and Linda I need your go ahead to book - probably Oaks on Charlotte as Racy says that one's "closer to the action" lol

Sue - that's great news!! yay for you!

Further to my post above, I've found that the prices on the web are slightly lower than what I've been quoted, about $30 per night ??!!

Also found Evolution Appartments and their web price is $259, so even cheaper, but not sure if the location is as good?

Ali yup I'm relaxing.......lol. Almost finished that shawl I was working on so you know what was working and it wasn't much......lol. How you had a good flight and rest well in your own bed tonight. Enjoy the party tomorrow!!

Hi Girls. Trisha you have my green light to book whatever you choose. I had a wonderful couple of days away with Paul down at Margaret River. We drove around a fair bit yesterday, visited a few wineries and a couple of breweries, and of course some shops. I went to my favourite store where they make all sorts of jams, pickled products and oils and a whole heap of other stuff. I particularly love their garlic olive oil, which is just to die for if you like strong garlic, like I do. So I bought two bottles.

Back home now and Paul is connecting the hose to drain our pool. I hope we don't find a dead body in the bottom of it, can't tell at this stage, it is what you would call moldy pond green! Hey just wondering if aching archilles tendons could be from Herceptin, I'm guessing probably not, but I am having terrible problems walking and I shuffle a fair bit. It's OK once I get warmed up, but just sitting for 10 minutes means I will shuffle for another ten at least. The alternative is old age! The tendons feel very tender to touch. Oh and another thing post chemo, I now have a severe reaction to mozzie bites, I get a big lump and then it ulcerates, one in particular is badly infected, red circumference of about 4 inches and a horrible weeping pus centre. I went to the chemist yesterday and the Chemist said he usually only sees a reaction like this with newly arrived Brits who've never been bitten before. But I reckon my immune system has been compromised since having chemo. My legs are terrible with about a dozen horrible weepy sores.

    Hope everyone is well. xxxxxx

Oh Kate you poor thing!! Mozzy bites are the pits but to have them do that is just awful! Hope they heal soon! It will take sometime for your immune system to recover but it's also possible that it will never be quite what is was.

Glad you had a good time away with Paul.

    Yay Susie for clear results!

Boo Kate for bug bites :-/

Did my first day back working today. Of course I did it from the comfort of sitting on my fat ass on my bed all day. Taking calls, checking emails and doing data checking mostly. I am due to actually go into work and sit at my desk all day on Monday...

I am exactly in the condition my PS told me I would be in. Feel good after getting out of bed in the morning - all slim and energetic. Then gradually through the day my abdomen starts swelling and by this time in the evening it is swollen and hard as concrete, and VERY uncomfortable. I'm at exactly week 4 today. At least another 2-3 weeks like this I guess.

Size has not changed noticeably but I am getting used to them and am not sure I really want to go through the hassle of having them reduced. My appt back with the PS is now mid-Feb and it is at that point I have to tell him if I want an extra surgery to do a reduction, or just move straight to the nipple reconstruction.

Am now 2 weeks back into taking the Tamoxifen and have put back 2kgs in weight in that time (after losing 4kgs with this surgery). The creeping weight gain is what is depressing me right now. What a crock, when I have been making so many healthy choices and reducing portion sizes. I used to be a Weight Watchers leader and area coordinator, so I know that what I'm doing is right - my body and these drugs are screwing with me though.

Kylie - if you are reading - I have been thinking of you and am missing your input here...????

Also saw Meriton but I think oaks is cheaper.

Im happy with around $100 per night each if you other ladies are.

Thanks for doing all this work mate, its much appreciated. My shop is pandemonium at the moment and i barely have a minute to myself.

This sounds like  another step in the right direction ladies though one would want some sort of reassurance onthe odds of BC recurrance using ones own fat cells.

    Hi all

How long do you all think it takes to stop thinking about breast cancer ? I was diognosed in Feb this year and have been told and think that I need to have other interests in my life, eg thinking about cancer too much gets me depressed sometimes. I've still got recon to go so it's hard not to think about it. I'm probably going to see a physchologist soon to talk about it all. In the meantime I just need a bit more energy to try and do other stuff. Are you all obssesed whenever you hear the words "Breast Cancer" on the news etc? Do you want to know everything about it?

Hope that everyone has a good weekend

Hi Aussie. I think for the first year or so we all obsess about BC and anything to do with BC so you are not alone. It obviously makes you feel depressed so I would say you are doing the right thing by going to see a psychologist to get some help but take it from me that once you are done with all the treatment and your recon and have healed physically you will find that you will be able to move on emotionally.

Take a deep breath and know that we are always here to talk to.
