    Hi all

At work today I was speaking to a customer and she told me that her 80 year old Mother had breast cancer last year, I then told her that I had cancer too last year. Then during the day I told 2 staff that I had had breast cancer, the 2 staff were not working there at the time. Isn't it strange that in 1 day just in conversation I tell 3 people.

I have got my appointment with Plastic Surgeon on Monday, I must say that I would much rather go to the Hospital than go to work ,lol. Great I have a long weekend.

I am sooo not putting it out there any more about having breast cancer... I have a new admin assistant allocated to me a couple of days a week and unless someone else tells him, I certainly won't be. The other day he told me all about how he was in hospital last year and was sympathetic but it didn't make me want to open up about it.

I think that having realised that the majority of people have no idea what the experience is like has made me realise thete's no value in telling them about it.

Am very nervous about changing jobs though, because I will be losing a lot of benefits in terms of sick leave, super and life insurance with permanent disability policy. I will have to change super company as I won't be working for the uni anymore.

Have any of you had to change super or insurance company since your diagnosis?

Jenn, I changed jobs a couple of years ago from admin in the Government to health in the private sector and I decided to stay with my super company. I phoned the Super fund and they confirmed that nowadays, people dont have to change super companies. They told me which forms were needed to supply to payroll department. It was a lot of extra work and payroll was reluctant to accommodate me, but in the end, they had to comply. There was a lot of extra communicating with payroll etc, but in the long run, it  was peace of mind.

    Blessings

    Yes jenn.....Mandy is correct.

I worked in payroll until I retired due to my secondary diagnosis & you are by law, allowed to chose your own super company. It's frustrating for the payroll dept as they have to make monthly payments to numerous super companies, which is why they try & get employees to change to a particular fund.....but the law is the law!

The sickes part sucks, it's a shame those cant be carried over, but here's to new beginnings....:) xx

Mandy....yes, here's to years of success with our Xeloda....:) xxx

Chrissy.....can't wait to see the pics of the wedding with all your handy work.....

Annette....glad they have you on some medication now for your blood pressure, it'll be reassuring to know its going to go down....& yes, keep up the funny stories....lol

    Have a lovely weekend girls.

    (((Hugs)))

Good morning girls, i went out with hubby yesterday to one of the places we have  sheep and cattle, one of the animal control came and saw us said, the black bull is getting out on road side, but not for food, its for the tarts across the road in the paddock and with his hormones on high, and so we went and put this fence, that is about 6 ft high, he has a mate with him today. its agony for him to carry those gates. but we were well into the dark last night when we finished first half, but my legs started stinging on the thighs, like bee stings, anybody has that. its standing for ages that does it. i feels like the nerve endings in my legs all smarting. very painful. it goes once i have sat down for a while. it was agony standing there, i ws triyng not to complain as i know hubby in alot of pain with the burns.

Chrissy, hope you ok with yr head and the time goes quick to see the doc.

Jenn, good luck with the rest of interview,

Trish, hope things are well with you.

Karen, Gail and Mandy, think of you often, thanks for the encourgment about my stories. i try to keep them interesting and not too rude about the farting etc i would hate to offend any one. well i am going to have some brecky. take care all and the others ladies, hope alls well with you all. Karen, you saying you worked in payroll, i used to clean the payroll officers when i worked at the Hospital, this was years ago. and they used to have these little walkmans, you put a tape in and plug into your lugs and i went to do the vacuming as i was playing a tape and listening , i pluged the cleaner in, and  started to vacum away, and looked up and the girls were all laughing there heads off and pointing to the cleaner, i had forgotten to turn it on  at the machine, and as my ears were plugged up with music i did not realise, i was vacuming away with it  not going. the payroll girls were in hysterics. i got on well with them. i have never forgotten that. its a long time ago.we used ro have good laughs, man.

    Hi everyone!

Im doing ok now, I went to my appointment Tuesday and immediately showed the dr the oozing and my panic. They did a swab and blood tests and it is currently infection-free! I was told to keep it clean and dry and if it got worse to come back or go to ER... tuesday night I got undressed to get in shower and it gushed out, running down my body... quickly got dressed and spent 6 hours at ER on a uv drip for fluid :/ was told to go to my BC app on friday (just gone) and given endone and sent home.

On friday I finally found out that it was due to having so much removed during my surgery and usually I would of had drainage tube and it was just the excess fluid and would calm down soon...was given more wound dressings and sent home again... til the 27th :(

It looks hideous but its ok and they are just keeping an eye on it for infection etc...

Now, I was told that my diagnosis was a really lucky case. The bloody nipple discharge that I originally got checked for was caused by 2 largish mean looking benign lumps, the larger being 50 x 25 x 20mm. If it wasnt for that then they would not of found it when they did and it could of been worse, its 'non-invasive low grade stage 0' and because all of the ducts were removed in the op I have clean margins and am not having radiation atm... but... 2 more lumps have been found on the other breast which are more than likely benign too so that will get looked at on 27th too. But it is looking up, I go back to work Tuesday but am thinking of withdrawing from uni for a little while as even though I can study, I just cant concentrate on it and I already have destroyed my gpa last semester because I completely forgot about uni while I went through it all with the waiting and testing and poking and prodding etc...

Oh Aly!  That is beautiful!!!  Wish it was on my bed.......lol.  I'm sure your DD will love it!

Success girls!  DD came up this weekend to do some final discussions with the restaurant as well as work out the table placing etc.  All done, all agreed upon and the only thing left for me to do (well DH to do) is pay for it......lol.  She checked out the dream catchers and loves them......yay!!!!  What I'm most pleased about is the ribbons I used were total guess work as for colours but as it turned out they are the exact colour that will be in the bouquet and table arrangememnts......they do say sisters think alike......lol......thank goodness my florist sister and I did on this occassion......oh, and they are all done!.....yay!!!!!.  Now just to finish up with the chair ties and my making will all be done......thank goodness.

I now have time to build the cupboard in the kitchen so the fire can be installed and hopefully that will be next weekend as a friend said he could do it for me.  I have a week to get the old shelves cleared and sorted and the cupboard buit and in place........I'm like the little red engin......lol.....I think I can, I think I can........I'll let you know if I'm successful......lol.

Hopeing you all have a good week ahead.

    Love n hugs.   Chrissy

    Hi all

Alyson the quilt is lovely, I haven't got the patience to do anything like that.

This weekend I actually did quite a few things that I've been meaning to do for ages. I finally finished my resume and then applied for 2 jobs and will apply for more tomorrow. I really need to change my job as it gets me too depressed and angry and I hate going to work. As you all know after a cancer scare the last thing you want is to feel horrible all the time, you want to enjoy your life.

I also nearly finished my tax but it keeps telling me I've put the wrong information in , it's so annoying!!!

Hope you all have a great week

    Alyson, the quilt is amazing!

Chrissy, good on ya for the psychic colour matching!

Aussie, I know how you feel about work, I have an amazing job and I truly love it but it has become very politically based recently and I am becoming miserable by it, I am doing so internal soul searching and assessing what is really important to me and my happiness. It is exactly as you said, you want to enjoy life!

Aly - that quilt is gorgeous!  You are very talented!

Aussie - the number one book of all time is the The Stand - I've read it so many times the cover is falling apart lol, The Dark Tower series is another of my favourites, can't wait for his next book to come out - I think it's Sept or Oct?

Chrissy - I really don't think building a cupboard in the kitchen is only using your hands young lady!  Take it easy!!! lol Great that your DD loved all the dreamcatchers though, but how could she not?!

Becc - do you do photography?

Mandy and Karen - I'm hoping for years of success with Xeloda for you both too xoxo

Midnight, I'm going really, really well, thanks for asking.  Alls good with me :-)

Another cold wintery day here in Canberra.  Tomorrow is supposed to be worse with snow showers, and here at work we all decided last week it would be nice to have a barbie - lol guess which day?  Yep - tomorrow.  I think we'll have to change it to a hot lunch inside, don't want to battle snow showers and 60kph winds cooking the snags lol.

    Have a good one everyone

    Trish

    xoxo

Jenn, still keeping everything crossed for you.  I agree with Racy - we'll all be your referees lol.

Looks like there are a few snap happies here.......lol......I like doing landscapes and my camera is never far from my hand, I even keep one in the car.......you know, just in case?.........lol. I'll have to go to my computer to check out your photo Beccc as I. On the iPad but I will be charging up the laptop a little later.

Nothing much happening here, I spent the day just bumming around and going through stuff that used to live on the shelves in the kitchen. I must admit, I was beginning to wonder if it all would fit in the new cupboard but have finally realised that there was a lot of stuff that I had just stuffed there and now it all been sorted there will be no problem about it all being accommodated.........lol. Think I was turning into a bit of a magpie.....hahahaha!

    Enjoy your evening all!

    Hi all

I went to the hospital today and saw my Plastic Surgeon, He examined me and decided what size and shape of implant I need. I will be getting my surgery within a few months. He said I will need to stay in hospital for a few days as I will have a drain again, my last few days turned out to be 10 days !!! so I will have to see how I go.

Trish I've read The Stand a few times too, it's my favourite book. I loved the ending of The Dark Tower, classic Stephen King. Have you read his book called" Just After Sunset" a book with short stories in. You have to read "The Cat from Hell" in that book, scary but classic.

It's been a beatiful day here today I even went and did some weeding.
