Physical aging appearance

Having babies also enlarges your feet. I think it's something about the muscles relaxing to give birth but I think it's the extra weight crushing down on the poor little metatarsals....
I remember the big gray containers of toner for gray hair. Gray hair can yellow (as some of you know) so you'd have a final rinse of this purple stuff that would brighten it all. Was on the bottom shelf with a pink lid. Seriously. Right beside the Hydrogen Peroxide!

My oncologist did tell me at the very start that they were going to pre-age me! I have entered the realm of chemo-pause, and I with the treatment I have had I feel older! I too have had great 'genes' and people always thought I was much younger. I like the advice here, I do think alot of women fall into habits that make them seem older anyways. Maybe because we just get more comfortable in our skins! But I do think fashion updates, hair and makeup do help. Good mosturizers.. I went to the look good feel good class, and I will admit, some of the more expensive makeups do look better on the skin. I never spent much money on makeup but now might consider certain items! Like the others have said here, eating right, drinking water and a good nights rest-so hard for me to comeby lately!

Bone scan report said Stable widespread numerous bony diffuse metastatic disease. No significant worsening when compared to prior study.....I was not expecting a miracle and was actually expecting progression since my CA 27/29 is so high, so I am really happy with the word stable. Now I can go back to worrying about things like wrinkles and finding my shampoo.

I have a good tip for undereye circles. If you wear foundation, Laura Mercier makes a wonderful powder -- actually 2 of them-- that you can apply right under your eyes. The powder actually has a shimmer to it, and reflects light off the skin, making dark circles virtually unnoticeable. The powder are called Mineral Illuminating powder or the Loose Shimmer powder. You need a really, really soft medium sized brush to apply it.

Barbe 1958.........Oh heavens I remember that gray bottle.............It was good stuff no matter what color ;your hair was.............they don't make it anymore.............you can't find it anywhere..............I was much younger when that was on the market, but I remember how the older ladies with silver, white, or gray hair would use it, and God knows what they did when they put it on (too much maybe), but they would come out with "purple" hair", and I mean "purple", and if not that color, then a funky shade of "lavender"............Just a trip back in time0

The gray bottle... wasn't it called "Fanci-Full"? My mother still uses it. I think she gets it at Sally Beauty Supply. It's a toner for your hair, and does wonders for taking brassiness out of your hair. I would occasionally use her bottle when my blonde highlights got too bright. She got a basic dull brown shade, and it basically provided depth to her gray hair.

Is this what you're looking for? They have a whole bunch of these bottles on Amazon.com

Ladies, do a google search on fanci full. You will find a product called "White Minx" that is specifically for white/gray hair, to make it toned. Not sure what the result would be, but perhaps worth a try? Also, the entire range of Fanci-Full products are on the Amazon site, and the bottle is no longer gray, but red!

Wow, thanks for the info about Amazon.....will check that out............I don't have gray hair (ok, I mean I'm not all gray, good heavens at 76 you friggin know I'm gray), but I highlight my hair, and sometimes the highlights do get brassy, will check out the site.
Go to Sally's all the time, and have never seen Fanci-full there, unless I was looking for the "gray bottle", and missed it being "red"...........thanks girls, will check that out

I tried the fanci ful white minx a few years ago and I didn't care for it. It was watery. Maybe I didn't use it properly because it didn't do anything special. Over at the Bonfire of the Godesses thread I threw in the words discontinued and new and improved. Looks like they changed the bottle and perhaps the formula. If any one has tried it recently... I welcome hearing how it works.

Update on the 'frownie's; I don't think they will work on deep lines (like the one between my eyes), but I've been sticking them on some little 'smile' wrinkles on the sides of the eyes with better results. So, if you have some not so deep wrinkles, they might be worth a try.

I think the frownies are to keep you from making deeper frowns cause you can frown while they are onl. Can you?
I just spend 11 minutes in the hair care aisle in WalMart with my DH trying to find a "grey hair" product. There was only ONE! And it said for "mature hair"!! Heck, I"M not mature so how could my hair be!! But I AM gray.......

Ok, ladies.............Frownies..........................I need friggin "Spakle".........The Frownies would get lost in my wrinkles.....................Not sure if its my imagination, but since his diagnosis I think if I tried real hard, I could screw my hat on.
They were showing new methods of getting rid of brown spots, wrinkles, and crows feet the other night on TV.....I said to my daughter who was visiting..............How about a whole face transplant, now that would work............OH THOSE GOLDEN YEARS., but what the hell, I'M STILL WAKING UP EVERY MORNING, THAT'S A BONUS MOST DAYS. hugs.

Barbe... "Mature hair?" Would you please head over to Jo's Bonfire of the Goddesses and throw those two word on the fire? I already threw in quite a few words... But who in their right mind would want to buy anything with those words on the label???

Talking about mature hair, does it count if only elderly women constantly comment on your hair? I am salt and pepper that is more salt than pepper at this point. I work in a Dr.'s office and get frequent compliments on the color and wave of my hair from women who are in their 80's and up. A co-worker who gets similar comments says that she will consider it a compliment when it comes from someone her own age. We are both in our mid 50's. I had never thought too much of the whole topic until she mentioned it, and it was funny at the time, but now I feel frumpy when I an elderly woman mentions my hair0
-
Ruth, How about a pic of you modeling the frownies? Are they shaped like wings like those things I said my mother used to use. My old boyfriend's mother used Fanciful....a brown shade...I think it rubs off on clothes and is more like a rinse than an actual toner...if it's the stuff I am thinking of. Barbe, your husband sounds like a patient man....most would say See you in the car and leave that dept.

A comment about your hair is a good thing whether it comes from an elderly woman (which I am...76) or some cute young thing..............At 76, I highlight my hair.........wear it short, but my hairdresser knows just how to style and cut it.................I get more compliments on my hair, and I think to myself "really"..................Even my grandchildren say to me "Nan, did you get your hair cut, I love it", so I guess I must be doing something right...............so just thank an elderly woman who compliments you on your hair......................even we are "with it", and know a nice hairdo when we see one..............Oh by the way if my hair looked bad...............I would get told in a "New York Minute" that it was bad..............hugs.

marybe so glad your bone scan turned out stable. That's the way we want it. Hope you girls are able to find this rinse or shampoo you have talking about it. I am gray just on top and decided to go back to foiling my hair and cover it up. I like it gray for awhile because it looked like highlights but decide I wanted something different.

Finding that something for our silver hair is really proving to be elusive.....oy!

Finding comfortable shoes is easier!

duckyb1 Thanks for the vote of confidence...I hope that my comment was of no offense to you. How lucky for you that your grandchildren tell you that they love your hair!!
voraciousreader You are funny, and I agree about the shoes. I'm an all Dansko girl!!

Frownies look, to me, like a heavier masking tape; in various shapes. It says on the box that they are made of 'unbleached natural kraft paper with water-activated gum adhesive'. It also says 'guaranteed results in 30 days' so I will keep slapping them on for awhile yet. Interestingly, it also says that they have been around since 1889!

FINALLY!!! Went back out AFTER dinner to a grocery store of all places just before we were going to head to the drug store. I couldn't do it this afternoon as I was "chored-out". Anyway, in the grocery store I found Finesse Silver Brights (or something) shampoo and conditioner! I don't normally buy the shampoo as I figure whatever is the last thing on your hair (conditioner) is what makes the difference, but someone had pumped a little bit of the shampoo out..not me! and it was purple!! That is what we want. I'll keepy y'all posted!!!

The best brand of color that I have found for covering gray is Wella Color Charm. It is available at beauty supply stores. I've had very good results. This is me with my new curls one year post-chemo (my one-year anniversary is today, YAY!) The color in this photo is Wella Color Charm #811 with a #20 developer. Without color my hair is now salt & pepper.
Yes, absolutely I aged dramatically during treatment. However, little by little I am looking more and more like my old self. It takes a long time for the "shell-shocked" look to fade away, but it is fading!

Chan.. You look beautiful!
Just running around the net and found Aveda Blue Malva. Anyone want to chime in about the shampoo???0 -
I have to admit, I did Photoshop this pic to remove the shadows under my eyes. I needed a headshot for a promo!

Wenweb..........Not offensive at all........Of all the things that bother me the most it is when my hair looks bad..........I have been that way since i was a young woman..........I think if your hair looks good, and you have some lipstick on, everything else seems to fall in place....I am a Hair person.....I think no matter how good your built, how pretty you are, if your hair looks bad, nothing else matters..........I laugh and say to the kids............I don't care what you dress me in when I go in the coffin, just make sure my hair looks good...................However, if I lost it because I wanted to "live" I would make sure I was the best looking bald lady in my town......or I'd make sure I had the best looking wig.............Yes it is great that my grandchildren compliment me on my hair since they are all grown up the oldest are twins 27, and it goes down from their to 10, and I have 18 total.............You just continue to take those good comments from everyone who gives them to you...........you probably deserve them.. I'm sure your lovely...........hugs.

Ducky, I hope you don't have to go the bald route, but if you do there are some very good looking wigs out there...and not necessarily expensive. I found I prefered bandannas and scarves, but when I worked I always wore my wig and got a lot of compliments on my new hair style. I am very fortunate in that I have good hair and it just sort of goes into place...I could probably not even comb it and no one would really know. The only time this was not good was when I wanted to look like a hippie.....was just way to clean-cut looking to pass....also I liked that tousseled look Meg Ryan was sporting for awhile , but I could not pull it off because my hairdressers would always say your hair it too thick for that and it would always just go right back into place. It is much softer and finer since chemo, but I still have lots of hair.
Voracious, Anxious to hear about the Aveda product....let me know if you try it as there is an Aveda salon right by where I work. Also, want to hear what you think of the Silver lights, Barbe. And Chan, I think you made a wise decision...photoshop or not you look way too young to be gray.

Ducky. Thanks for the lovely compliment!!! I feel the same way about my hair.
I had a hairdresser recommend the Black Malva shampoo to me several years ago. She must have been inexperienced, because I recently found out that it's the Blue Malva that us supposed to be used on grey hair. I guess that explains why I didn't notice any changes, and I do tend to like the Aveda products.
