Avon has an eyebrow pen that lays little fibres down that look like hair. A bit more than $4, maybe double that.

Baby shampoo is supposed to be good for washing out hair color... I buy only temporary color at Sally Beauty Supply.. they don't even have it at the stores anymore around here.
I just wish there was makeup to counter 'moonface'.. the steroid effect. I guess time will help.

fearless what can it hurt to put a lighter color on your hair. I did Natural Instincts same one as you it always gave a muticolored shading then later i went with that months color choice which changed every month---------I called it the color of the month club---------then there was a color I picked _dunno------and it was awful , I recolored it the next night and everything was fine.
I have made the choice to be gray now, since chemo it came in all these wonderful shades of grey and white and steel grey and black(maybe brown)---------a colorist would charge a fortune.
Choose a lighter color, but don't go red

I love red!!!!

SAS. Funny I was going to say to fearless that if she didn't want blonde highlights to go with some warm red highlights it may be just the thing to give a perk without the blonde. I like red highlights on warm brown hair but I do think they can be tricky to get right

fearless- I am going to jump in here. I normally read a lot here.
How about a clarifying shampoo? It really strips residue, ect from hair.

Hello, just snooping around... i wss wondering if anyone has attempted coloring their hair during chemo. I colored and cut it before i started cmf. I only had 2tx .4/28 and 5/21 due yo low counts. I havent had any loss yet but i am waiting. I do know herbatint sold in trader joes and mrs. Greens are natural and dont contain the bad stuff for us especily ammonia. I have to say i think it is yhe besy color i have ever used. It is a little more$ than the reg colors found in walgreens & cvs. Ok just my two cents. Have a good weekend.

I really don't think they want you to color it at all while on chemo, but maybe the natural ones are OK. I just posted this on the booklover's thead, but want to share it here because I think you will get a chuckle from it. I saw the PA on Wed. rather than the oncologist and sometimes I like that since she is a woman and can relate more to things I am sure he finds petty....like wrinkles and eyebrows not coming back like they were, etc. So this time I showed her my pink scalp first where the hair is falling out and then I showed her my arms and how the skin looks crinkly and said Just look at this. I find it sort of fascinating in a horrifying sort of way and right after she was looking at my arm she looks at me and asked Have you read Water for Elephants? and I am sure I must have looked really horrified when I replied and asked Does the skin on my arm remind you of an elephant? and she said Oh no, that's not what I meant at all. I was referring to the part where the older man is observing all the changes in his body from age. I guess she is reading the book now, and it's been a long time since I have read it, but I just about died when she asked me that and thought Oh no, it really is bad. Well, I am telling you it is, but after I slap on the mositurizer it doesn't look like an elephant. This is a rather young PA and I am sure she was embarrassed that I took it the way I did, but we were both laughing about it.
Apple, When they do makeup sessions a lot of times they will just brush bronzer or a darker shade than your makeup down the sides of your cheeks to your chin and that is supposed to sort of elongate the face and get rid of the round look.
I am signed up for a make up session at Clinique a week from Monday.....like to go to those for the free samples they are demonstrating.

Great story, Marybe. It reminds me of the day I got my wig; I took it off at night & DH saw my bald head for the first time. In an attempt to be nice, he says, "You look cute, kind of like Granny Clampett." The look of horror on my face made him realize that this was not really much of a compliment.....he then got a look of horror on his face at his 'opps'.....at this point we both burst into hysterical laughter and it was O.K.

Reminds me of the time we were living in a very old house with no AC. In the bathroom I covered myself with baby powder to try to beat the heat and then headed into my lover's arms.....but as I walked towards him he couldn't help himself and said that I looked like a geisha!!! I laughed so hard I shook some of the powder off! I had no idea he even knew what a geisha was!!0

"Bras 101---the great exchange debate".----Sherry , my life has changed in a matter of 6 days. I inadvertently, slept with Head of bed and feet up on Thur./Fri. b/c of back pain. In the morning the back pain was better, but the symptoms of breast LE/axilary swelling and upper inner are were improved. I then found this site on Sat. They comfirmed that foobs can migrate into the axilla. For me, this discomfort has been going on 2 1/4 years UGH. Plus they have all this wonderful info on bra's and who's the best etc. Good luck Sheila
The url is to their current page. Hope you have as much luck with them that I did.

Thank you, ladies - I am using a clarifying shampoo each night and it's fading. I found a hi-lift brunette line from Loreal that I will try in a few weeks. Nervous about permanent color, though.
Patty, I don't think you should color your hair during chemo. My aunt didn't lose her hair on cmf, either, but I think you should wait.

Sas thanks I will check it out. I will be having a MX sometime soon I think, I have an appt with the PS next week and then I will know more about my timing. Not sure yet what kind of reconstruction I will have either but probably implants as I don't have much body fat to use, however I do have a slight tummy but not sure if there is enough to use. tummy tuck would be nice though but I can live without it.

Just had a spray-on tan this morning. It took about 10 minutes to apply, 10 to dry, cost $25. OMG, it looks beautiful!!! I am happy, happy!
0 -
Really? I haven't self-tanned in ages. Always makes me orange. And they all have that funky smell going on .....never tried the spray-on thing....
0 -
I wouldn't try it myself, I did once and not only turned orange but was also blotchy from the places I missed or applied to liberally. This lady was like a painter. She had a spray gun and a little roller brush, she would spray and then roll to keep the color even.

Think I need the spray on tan. I don't like to get in the sun anylonger. The heat kills me and I always burn way to easy
0 -
And wrinkles, bulges etc. look nicer when bronzed!
0 -
I'm sold Ruth anything to make the wrinkles and bulges look better
0 -
How long does it last Ruth? I should have gotten that done for my kids weddings a couple of years ago.

They said about two weeks. I'm going to a graduation and having a family reunion in the next week so will look good for them. I'll let you know how fast it fades and if it fades evenly or not. I'm going out east later in the summer & know I'll get another one then, but I don't know if I'll keep it up in-between.

A word of caution.......I had a spray tan (St Tropez - one of the most highly-thought of, apparently). It looked fabulous for about 10 days , then literally began to rub off in odd places, as I washed. In the end I had to scrub and scrub to get it all off, as I looked as though I had some awful skin disorder.....
I wonder what the super-models do who have perma-tans? Do you think they just get a spray on top of a spray so that the patches never show?
I really hope yours does not do what mine did, Ruth - it was not a nice experience.

I agree, I know I have aged a few more years, especially when your hair grows back pretty much grey. About being tired, all the time. Now they say I have a lesion on my spine cutting off blood supply to my hip bone and part of it may be dead, go figure.
0 -
Carol does that mean you have mets or is it some other kind of lesion. Does your hip hurt. I have arthritis in my hip and that is bad enough. Hope they can do something for you.

Lupron and femara are making me look like dog crap now! 4 months ago I looked great, but I look horrible now!!! Makeup is not helping much either, onward to tan in a can next!!!

I just wonder if the spray tan is as bad for us as the sun?
I'm almost done with my rads and I have starting to suntan a little bit. I put spf 50 on where my skin is dark/red from the rads. I live in California and I used to be tanned all year around and I am not used to see my skin so white...
0 -
I have become leary about tanning. Right after rads I made an appt with the dermatoligist and he found several sun spots that needed removing. Thank goodness they were found early and they were skin cancer, but now I'm scared to go in the sun. I am fair skin and don't tan easily anyway. Can't wait to hear about Ruth's results in a couple of weeks.

I don't post often but I thought I would tell you aboutthe faux tan lotion I have been using, its called St. Tropez. I get it from QVC. I am also very fair (burn not tan), never was much of a sun worshiper, so how I ended up with melanoma is a mystery. Anyway I now have to use sunscreen everyday. Usedsome other tanning lotions but the smell Idid'nt like. This one works pretty well, lasts a couple of days then I just reapply. I think the bottle was about $40 and lasts me all summer. Hope this helps..salty!!!
