keeping busy, watching with one eye.  DH refuses to watch he's disgusted. They toy with us, catch up, go down, get close, go back and on it goes.  Taking a break, can't sit still on such a beautiful day. Just listening to kids play, lawnmovers all a buzz, hammering et all it sounds like spring.  In one month things will be so very different.  My son awoke this AM and told me he had a dream someone stole his plow, boys and their toys.  He's going to start working part time plowing for his buddy.  As long as his buddy's business covers the insurance, doesn't matter to me.  My only concern is spreading himself too thin.  He didn't do well in school again and I'm pretty sure he needs to decide his path.  Tough to watch your children make decisions you'll know they'll regret.  Off to increase my vitamin D again :)   Have a wonderful afternoon

    Western NY ladies,

Thanks for the warm welcome.  It was cold here in Rochester today!!  I am really struggling with M.O. decisions.  I have been on two consults, one just at Roswell at the Amherst campus (Dr. Kahlid Matin).  I need chemo, but the recommendations at Roswell are different than the recommendations I received in Rochester.  I'm on the hunt for an M.O. because the Breast Care Center where I had my bmx on 10/25 has a month wait list for an M.O. consult. (Strong Hospital).   Chemo should start 4 - 6 weeks out from surgery so I am very frightened.  My question is - do you have any good / bad experiences from Roswell?  The Breast Center there could not see me (full) but the Amherst Campus could so that's where I went.  Any thoughts based on the research that you did during your journey?  Many many thanks!

    Wendy in Rochester

Dear Wendy, I had only lumpectomy and radiation so I have no info to share, someone will be by soon to give you their experience.  I know you are frightened, this is a scary time, when you are kind of flying by the seat of your pants and without a keyplayer.  I think several of the women have their M.O. in Amherst, they usually start checking in about this time or a little later.  How are you doing with pacing in the house, has that tamed down?  Several of us see therapists, I know I am on medication for anxiety, there is no reason to have this journey be tougher than it already is, don't be afraid to ask for help, it is out there waiting for you.  hugs, Karen

Dear Wendy, the M.O. our ladies see are in Amherst or Williamsville, but are not at Roswell, they are in a separate practice.  Susan, I believe, went to the Buffalo location, I may be mistaken though, perhaps she has heard of the M.O. you mentioned.

HI there Wendy - I went to Roswell and had my lumpectomy surgery there and radiation. I truly loved my rads Oncologist but went private practice for ongoing Oncology.  The Roswell Surgeon I had was  Dr. S. Edge. While consideed "the best" , I will share his bedside manner is not.  But, you want an excellent  surgeon not a friendly one.  My biggest issue with their surgery center is that while you sign on for a specific surgeon; he/she is not the one who does the actual surgery.  They are a teaching hospital and the resident completes your surgery while the overseeing doctor (for me Dr. Edge) is scrubbed in and present, but does not operate unless there is an issue.  So that being said, you need to feel comfortable knowing that you are being operated on by a student.

For chemo, which I opted out of, due to my node negative pathology, I'm happy to refer you my Oncologist. They are a wonderful group and absolutely everyone I have sent there loves them.  Let me know, happy to PM you the details.

Good luck - I agree with the others, if you're stressed an anxious and a walk, funny movie or Yoga doesn't help ask your doctor for an anti anxiety med. They're very helpful as are sleeping pills!

    Hugs,

    Bevin

Hi Wendy,  I saw a breast surgeon and oncologist in Williamsville.  They are a wonderful group.  They all did fellowships at Roswell with Dr. Namoto (sp) who was a pioneer in breast cancer. Dr. Bauer is surgeon, Dr. Soniwala is oncologist and Dr. Kahlil was the radiologist.  I can't say enough wonderful things about the group.  Post surgery you will see the nurse practioner in breast surgeon's office, she's wonderful, call you back almost immediately (never longer than 1hr). Doc Soniwala has a np as well, she's a former bc survivor too.  I didn't care for her bedside manner but she knows her stuff and will take good care if you can overlook her mannerisms.  Over time she has gotten much better but if you like to be treated with kid gloves, she's not your girl LOL.  Good luck

Hi all ladies, ok day today, during lunch hour I went to my mom's grave and put flowers on her grave, she's been gone 3 yrs. today. That was kind of tough. All else is well.  Might have to work Sat. , depends how my Fri. PM meeting goes, let's hope okay because I'm not one to miss a chocolate martinin and lunch :(

    Have a great night.

Thank you so much Western NY  ladies for your input regarding where you went / go for treatment.  And I agree...this is such an incredibly hard time (in the beginning).  My Dr. did give me some Xanex, which helps with sleep.  I think once I get started with the chemo I will feel much better...

    Thanks,

    Wendy

good luck wendy.  I went through chemo if you need advice, just post or PM me.  There are some good threads on these boards for preparing and surviving chemo.  Hope you are feeling better and looking forward to enjoying Thanksgiving.  Just think, next year at this time you'll be done :)

Good evening all, I'm doing well keeping my head above water and doing the best I can. Hope everyone is well and staying warm.

    Hi Wendy,

I had my treatment at Roswell, but I only had a lumpectomy and radiation there.  They use standard NCCI guidelines when they recommend a chemo regimen, so that may be why your two consults differ.  I have never been to the Amherst campus, so have not heard of the Doctor that you saw, but can attest that I put my faith in Roswell for not just my own health, but for my nephew and close friend and neighbor who went through treatments there.  Good luck to you in your decision making process.  Please ask for help if you need it---coping is quite a challenge especially in the beginning.

    All my best,

    Susan

    Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is well today. Disappointing news.... I won't be able to make lunch on Saturday. I took a part time job at the mall til Christmas and I have to work. (yeah, I know I retired, but it's just 15 hours a week and I'll be done by Christmas) I tried to switch with another lady, but her shift conflicted with my annual gyn appt tomorrow. So....I hope you all have a great lunch catching up. I will miss that so much. When I made the reservation, I put it under Maureen's name. Celebrate everyones good check ups and good health. And if anyone is at the eastern hills mall stop see me at the simply certificates kiosk. I work tues/Thurs evenings and sat during the day. :( sad about missing lunch. Love, Jan

Hi all, we will miss you on Saturday Jan, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, looks like we are in for a spell of good weather, maybe an easy winter like last year?  Maureen, hope your Friday meeting goes well and you do not have to work on Sat.  Sound like it's been some harrowing week at work!  You can only do the best you can.  I may have to miss the luncheon too, kept smelling gasoline around the car, so I took it in.  The whole gas tank is rusted out and because of the design of the car they will have to take the rear suspension out to get at the gas tank, if he can find a tank at all.  So I may not have a car on Sat.  I don't know if this is throwing good money into a money pit or start searching for a new used car.  All this when my support money has just been cut in half, why does this have to happen before the holidays.  All through whining, hope I do see you all on Saturday.  hugs, Karen

Karen so sad to hear about your car. Subarus are suppose to be work horses and I think your car owes you to make it to lunch. Been seeing cancellations so I might back off reservation to 4 or 5. If u want ill come and pick u up just let me know. Don't want you to miss buster stories or chocolate celebrations lol. Kindle is so hard to type on there are no commas and it randomly corrects words....didn't want any of my friends thinking I was martiniing without them lol. I found the massage number in my purse and I might treat myself. Probably wont work Saturday or will work after lunch. I need à day out.

    Love you ladies

Dear Maureen, I will know by tomorrow if I will have a workable Subaru, so kind of you to offer to come and get me, I may take you up on it, I need to be with my friends.  Do treat yourself to a massage, she was great, you'll be so relaxed after an hour you may need to wait a while to drive.  After I get a really good massage, I feel like I do after my chocolate martini, last time I was driving 20 mph and could not figure out why everyone was beeping at me, I was in a 35 mph zone!  Talk about a natural high, LOL.  love, Karen

Dear Maureen, my car won't be ready till next week, they had to order the part, so  I will take you up on your kind offer, if it isn't too much driving for you.  If it is just say so, I'm not exactly around the corner!  If it is Ok - I'll PM my address to you or I can have DD drop me off at Alex's, that may be the better idea, as you know where it is and can jump right back on the Thruway.  Hi all, isn't it a beautiful day, hugs to all, Karen

Had fun in Leroy LOL!!  Didn't even go to the casino and was before martinis. You'll laugh out loud at the rest of my day.  So after lunch I went to my sister's house who needed to get something in Akron.  So I get the GPS out and end up pulling over on the side of the road because SHE"S lost AGAIN. While I'm on the side of the road, the Lancaster police pull up next to me and inquire if there is a problem.  Holding the GPS, I respond; "no officer, just trying to figure out how to get to Akron from here."  He responds; "just go up two signals and make a right and you'll be in Akron before you know it."  Drives away and my sister turns to me and says; " What the hell is wrong with you talking to a police officer after martinis with your friends?"  I laughed out loud, thinking I should not have ventured out today, lost twice and late LOL.  Bruce got my girlfriends mother's things all packed up and moved back to her house, we're waiting for the arrangement information but thinking the service will be after Thanksgiving. I'm going to bed, had a wonderful day with my friends, I don't know how I'd get through things without you ladies in my pocket.  Oh, I have a full tank of gas :)

    Love,

    Maureen

Oh my god Maureen, I am literaly LOL, what a day, that lady on the GPS knows nothing!!  Your sister is a riot, no fumes fron one chocolate martini, were you supposed to sit there mute after he asked his question, that would have been suspicious.  If I had been with you I wouldn't have been able to contain my laughter when he pulled up!  Don't know what I'd do without you ladies for comic relief. love, Karen

hi all, quick note to let you know, you'll be in my pocket tomorrow when I go to see Soniwala.  Wish me luck. Spent most of the morning on the couch with tummy trouble, probably nerves :).  Afternoon spent with laundry, vacuuming and pintrest.  I'm addicted to that website. Have a great night.

    Bevin, how's things?

Hello Everyone!! Had such a great time on Saturday...lots of laughs will keep us all healthy I think, and happy of course.  Missed you, Bevin and Jan, but we will catch up next time.  Glad you made it to Akron safely, Maureen.  That would have definitely been suspicious if you did not respond to the kind officer.  He would have made you get out of the car!!  I love and am addicted to Pinterest as well.  Take care..until next time...

Sorry I missed lunch.....could use some good laughs. Maureen, you certainly had a full day on Saturday. Good thoughts will be with you tomorrow.

Bevin, a turkey is really pretty easy....call or message me if you have any questions.

Going to dr. Bauer's on Tuesday......will be seeing Andrea. Will be talking to her about this continuing pain I have. Someone on another thread mentioned PMPS when I discussed my symptoms. Not sure what the next step will be. The PT was good while it lasted, but did not make any improvements long term. Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving week. What are everyone's plans. I am having thanksgiving at my house. Love to be home for this holiday and love the cooking too.
