Dear Queenkong, I am so sorry you are having such a terrible time with chemo, some of the women who have had chemo will be along tomorrow to talk of their experience. Stay in contact if only to vent, get some comfort or just to be around women who care. This thread was a lifesaver to me after my lumpectomy and radiation, I wish I had found it sooner. They is always a warm, caring person who will respond to you usually within that same day, if not sooner. I know all of us respond to PM's if you have specific questions, or fears. You are never alone with this group, we can offer you support, advice and concern while you are feeling badly and welcome you when you are feeling better and can join us. take care, Karen

Hello Western NY ladies,
Just reading your posts and I am so happy that you all had fun over the weekend! I hope to join you sometime. I'm just seven weeks out from diagnosis so am still whirling with emotions and anxiety; chemo will start very soon. These boards have been a lifesaver for me as well and this group in particular is so warm :-). Thanks for sharing your funny stories and thoughts. And a big hello to you all from your sister city, Rochester!
Hugs,
Wendy

Dear Wendy, I was just thinking yesterday of sending a post out to you wondering how you were doing and here you are!! You must have found a MO since you are starting chemo soon - did you go with the Dr. from Roswell on the Amherst campus? I know I have seen on other threads the suggestion that you join a group starting chemo when you are so you can go through it "together", if there isn't one yet you can start one by posting a new topic, "Anyone starting chemo in ____". We certainly don't want to lose you, as you can tell we have two members who go to LeRoy quite easily, I was referring to the Depot restaurant that you like so well, when I suggested the good restaurant in LeRoy. During the winter we schedule our luncheons still on a monthly basis, but they are subject to weather conditions. We were quite lucky in the weather department last year and never missed a luncheon, hoping for an easy winter this year. Where you live are you in the path of Lake Effect snow?, I know Batavia is out of range for Lake Effect from Lake Erie. Keep letting us know how you are and you are right, it is a very warm group but we are eager to meet you. At luncheon we were guessing your age from your avatar, guesses for 20's and early 30's, were we on target?, see you are part of the group already! Karen

Hi Karen and everyone,
Thank you so much for that wonderful note! And I love you for the age guess! I'm 45! I got a new dooo when hubby took that photo in the Spring. I think that the dooo made me look younger. I also am a runner and have always tried to be in really good health (go figure - dumb luck I guess). I'm getting the chemo cut next Wednesday :-(.
I do have a chemo plan with Pluta cancer center here in Rochester. Staff are all so nice and what I wanted was to start ASAP - 4 - 6 post BMX. I liked Roswell's plan but given that I will still work, I don't think I could make the Buffalo trips. It has been a very tough decision and believe it or not I have kept one last MO consult for informational purposes. I feel like a traitor but my health is most important. Today I got the port installed - ouch!
Yes I love the restaurants in Leroy! I don't mind travel at all. I enjoy it actually so I do hope to join you wonderful ladies sometime.
Have a magnificent Thanksgiving!!!!

Just popped my pumpkin pie into the oven to bake. Turkey is prepped and stuffing is made. I actually made two kinds of stuffing this year. I like sausage in my stuffing and DD #1 doesn't.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my wonderful friends. Wendy, best of luck as you begin your chemo....hope it goes as smooth as possible.
Love,

OK, I'll try to call our place tomorrow and PM details. I need to rant. The Bills stink. Our Harvard graduate quarterback has thrown an interception in the 4th quarter for the last few games. Can someone explain to me how these guys get to make millions of dollars, screw up week after week and still keep their job? If that was doc, nurse, police, paramedic et all, they would be in jail for mistakes. Thanks Ladies, I feel better now.
Decorated the tree, the stockings hung, the living room decorated, now have to put up the village, wrap the pictures, buy gifts, wrap them, send them cross country etc,,etc,,,etc,,, glad I put stew in the crockpot today or no dinner today
And it's snowing. DH asked if I wanted to go shopping, of course he was being funny, I don't like to drive in the snow. I like to look at the snow
Love,
Maureen

Hi all, Maureen, they are 2 steps beyond stink, I had it on for awhile but when he started overthrowing everyone again, I started reading and muted the game. Then I had to pick up my DGD and it was over, I was spared the sight of him throwing yet another interception in that fourth quarter. He should be paid minimum wage for what he does, or is that what he doesn't do? Then they have a commercial detailing why we should still be fans and "lead the charge" HA!!!1

I think I can do Sun the 16th if it's early. I have a dinner to go to with my SILs, cousin and friend at 4:00. Wow, I could eat all day. Let me know what time. Such a busy time of year, but so fun to do all the holiday events.

HI Jan, we had gone to see the christmas show yearly until about 3 years ago. We started seeing it when the Chapel was on North Forest. When I went about 3 years ago - it had been very dark and not what we were used too. The living singing Christmas tree was gone, the little skits that tought life lessons .. etc. It was a dark story about Christmas and the young kids were actually afraid. Do you know if they went away from that again. It was really sad because to that point, my family and me had made it our Christmas adventure. After that terrible one, we haven't been back. Let me know if you've been the last few years. I hope they went back to the old format.

Bevin, last year was the first time I had gone. I thought it was an appropriate, inspirational performance, but have nothing to compare it to. I had heard the living singing Christmas tree was spectacular, but had never seen it. This years performance is called America's Got Christmas and sounds like it's modeled after America's Got Talent? Here's a link to the show:

cool- that sounds much better... maybe they got some feedback after the dark pagea We may give it a try again!.

Hi all, lunch info sent in PM. If you didn't receive info and want to join for lunch, just PM and I'll send along information.
Hope everyone is well and progressing through the holiday prep. I'm doing well. Have to mention, Karen sent me a email about Mrs. Brown and her dog, if you didn't see it, ask her to send it, I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. Of course my son overheard and had all his friends watch too, good thing they are adults.
Hope to see everyone soon.
Love,
Maureen

Hi all, looks like everyone is busy with work, kids, grandkids and holiday preparations. DH and I are on a vacation in Colonial Williamsburg, VA to see the Grand Illumination. It has been his dream trip. This is our first trip in many years. We are with his sister Nora, husband and two other couples. Weather here is great 60's and sunny. Trying to get some Christmas shopping done while here.
Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to Dec. 16.
Love, Jan0 -
Jan, I love Colonial Williamsburg, used to stop there when my stepson was going to ODU in Norfolk. Great place to eat and shop, the atmosphere during the Christmas Season must be amazing. What is the Grand Illumination? See you all soon, hugs, Karen

Hi all,
I hope you are doing well. Jan, I love Colonial Willamsburg and would love to see it all decorated for the holidays. Take lots of pics to show us. Wendy, I wish you well with chemo treatments.
I would like to ask that everyone keep my DH in their prayers on Wednesday. He will be having outpatient surgery. Will explain it at lunch. Okay, so I have been cooking 2-3 meals a day. Okay, I mean actually cooking for the last 3 weeks. I need a retirement from my retirement or maybe a part time job. It has been a little crazy around my house. Now I am trying to decorate for Christmas, it will be a long road.
I hope everyone is doing well and all dr appointments and test are great.
Hugs, Cheryl

Jan. Have fun and hug Nora for me...one of my favorite people. Enjoy you've earned it. Finally found a new centerpiece for dining room at the Brim craft show. I wasn't carrying my purse and asked the lady if she'd hold it for me. She gave me the centerpiece and her card and told me to send her a check! !! Couldn't believe it the cost was 50.00 dollars. Beautiful and so very nice of her to trust someone she doesn't know. Sent the check the next day. Results.from doc good tumid markers great. Won't stress again till Feb.
Heymoose you need to go back to work for a vacation. I'm really busy at work but only 17 more days till vacation and my dd will be home. So excited. My Christmas gift is my family home and good check up. And maybe a.chocolate martini with my favorite girls. Off to bed love Maureen0 -
