Summer2Recover - Congrats on just getting your nips done!  I love it too that when I do loose weight now, it does not come off my top.  Just need to get the right implants in there now or adjust to these babies.  It is great to hear from so many Style 15 ladies.

Hang in there Layla!  I too thought this was the silver lining/perk of BC.  It is quite hard, but this thread definitely lightens it up Smile!  Praying for some perspective down the road a bit.

Kickitmom I have no problem finding bras to fit. I think I tried one at least a dozen bras at Nordstrom and they all fit. It was just want I found comforatable and pretty. I bought most of my bras at Nordstrom rack. Once you know your size you will find something to fit. My mom is having a hard time finding bras to fit and she had real boobs! I too have style 15.

For Bras - yes its not terribly hard to find bras - at nordstroms or the rack or online....but being a 32 band isnt the easiest thing however!  Im too narrow around for the 32DDs at Victoria Secret unless I go with the lace bands (they run smaller) but in some brands, Betsey Johnson, Felina, Wacoal, Chantelle for some...I can find those 32Ds or DDs at Nordstroms - even on the sale rack.  Oh and sometimes TJ Maxx has 32Ds and DDs on their racks but its not always.  And forget the 30's....I have to get those online or on Ebay.  I try to stay away from the 30 bands.

There is a bra thread that discusses the best bras for reconstructed breasts somewhere.

Lago youre wonderful - yes that would be great.  Ill PM you my address.  Thank you so much!  I do have one DKNY bra I really like on!

Should I decide to go with implants, I want to go smaller!  The sheer joy of being able to wear a button-down blouse that isn't huge on me if it has no gaping.  Joy, Rapture!  Actually, which ever recon method I go with, I still want to be smaller.   Dang dd to ddd's are one hell of a PITA!   Cool

Galsal - I think everyone who started out on this thread wasnt expecting to buy D or DD bras - I dont think any of us LOOK like a D or DD because the implants are just not the same as a natural (or augmented) breast.  If I tell anyone what size I am, they are all shocked.  The implants are wide and the breasts arent conical.  Even wearing a small or extra small shirt, I dont have problems with buttons or gaping.  Ive been dress shopping for a wedding and I have yet to find the dress I dont fill out well without the top being too tight.  Its SO nice!!!  I think I LOOK like a C which is what I ultimately asked for...I was initally going for a full B but at the last minute, upped my decision by 25ccs.

Good luck with your decision and welcome!  This thread is full of good laughs!

kickitmom- I have also found bra shopping much easier.  One thing to keep in mind even though you have probably heard- it seems that the implants to drop down and round out in the following weeks. At first I could fit in some of my old bras because I was a small B getting by in B's.  Now I would say the most likely fitting size is almost always a C.  I even bought one D  when I accidently tried it on and it fitSurprised  Certain styles definitely fit better- really pretty styles that would have never worked for me in the past.  It is nice to have a silver lining in all of this- best of luck to you as you navigate your options.

Wow....this thread got resurrected and then some!

Welcome to all the new ladies of the itty bitty titty committee.  Just kidding! Tongue out

I'm still sticking to my theory that we have a skewed notion of what bra sizes REALLY look like. Like I said before... I would have thought the lady in the pic up top was a B before breast cancer made me a certified boob expert.  And remember... she is just natural (no augmentation, no reconstruction).  I now wear a 34D bra...and I think I look pretty much like her (except my hair is stick straight ;)

And no... I don't have any problems fitting bras. When I went to Nordstrom's , like lago, after the lady fitted me, I tried on probably a dozen 34D's and they all pretty much fit like a glove. I did buy a couple because they were so great with the fitting.  Though I'll never buy them full price there again.  I did buy one lovely Chantelle for $70....and then bought several more from ebay for about $20 each!

SueBeeDeeDee ~ I know, I know!!!! You actually have already done your WOOman.  Don't worry... I haven't given up... I'm getting a later start! Embarassed

You are all so great - what a relief to hear you have no problems finding bras with Style 15's!  I don't know why I got so hung up on that one.  I currently wear a 32D with my Style 20 450 cc girls and I don't have a lot of trouble finding bras either.  Some 32D's have a little room in them so I think I might be between a C and D cup.   I do think I am too big and my PS is thinking of the Style 15 371's.  If I switch to those, I am thinking I might still wear a 32 D (which would be nice, since I have them now).

I don't think the band will change - although the lady in Dillards measured me as a 30 band the other day (I been working out - I am sexy and I know it  My kids love that song!)_   - SueBee - yes I do believe I would have to order those and that would be a bummer not to be able to try them on in stores.

So this is where I get my big hang up on cup and filling it out.  Giong to a 371 Style 15 implant I would gain a .5 cm in width and loose some projection.  Do you think that extra width will bump me into a bigger cup size - dang underwire would have to go around those girls Wink!  I am hoping to stay the same cup size or go smaller.  Then I worried about filling out that cup with the 371's.  I thnk what it comes down to though - is just trying on those bra's and finding ones that fit you.  Makes me smile to know you have all been so successful.  If anyone else has thoughts, please let me know.

These Style 20's just seem big on me and I feel like I have a big shelf of boob. Hoping the Style 15 will make me feel like me again - I used to be a AA.

GalSal - When I discussed my options with my PS, I knew I wanted the implants. The other options, my gut immediately told me I did not want that.  It has taken a bit to get used to the implants. Sometimes, I still feel like I have something strapped to my chest, but it is getting better.

Kickit mom you might be a 34C. Why not give it a try. If you are measuring 30" then you are a 34. (I measure just slightly over 30"). When you go up a band size you may be able to come down a cup size.

BTW did you get my PM? I hope I didn't overwhelm you with images Tongue out I'm 397cc in style 15 but had a fat transfer which I believe made me even fuller on top.

I'm thinking kickitmom may have been saying that they measured her to wear a 30" bra band size...which would mean you are really tiny up top??  In that case you'd maybe be a 30E...which would be quite a jump up from AA's....no wonder you want to downsize!

lago - just now saw your response - thanks!

layla - I was one of those people thinking that a boob job was a perk of this whole thing...WOW! I don't know what I was thinking, lol.  I really do feel stupid.  After a bout with cellulitis (which may be ongoing, I'll find out at the PS tomorrow), 3 weeks of antiobiotics making me nauseous, and a drain that I've had in for 6 weeks now, this feels way more like punishment than a perk!

Susan - Im holding you to that!!  Wink  Not sure if Ill get to do the WooMan ride again - but I will be doing some sort of challenge this year for sure.  Maybe something closer to home.

Im thinking Kickit was measured to a 30 band as well....didnt she mention she was a 28 rib circumference?  That is what I am.  Some 32 bands are too loose and some 30 bands are too snug - it depends on the brand.    I have 30DD Freyas that i dont fill out well but can wear 32DDs with no problem - it really depends on the brand.

I dont know if I can answer the question about filling bras differently, Kickit.  My two girls are different but I dont think there is a huge difference in a bra in the fit.  One side has a nipple/areola complex which fills out a soft cup better....but even though they are different widths, they are both fine in most of the bras I have.

Susan I am with you on your theory of the skewed sense of what big is.  Shoot the COLOR I wear makes them look bigger or smaller.  Some days I wish I could be larger and then the next day I slap myself silly saying 'dont go there' with the boob greed!  LOL

SueBee, thanks for the report.  It's just I would like to be smaller than what I already am, the darned dd/ddd.  Overall, I'd be a happy with a B to a small D.    Ultimately, I just want to be able to wear a blouse that doesn't have to be bigger merely to accommodate the girls and then is too big on the rest of me.   To me, bras can be fit a lot easier than clothing since they get covered up.  Cool

Thank you for holding me to it SueBee!!  Been getting my jog in every morning this week so far! You inspire me. :)  And I hear you on even the color effecting our boobage perception. I was thinking of this thread yesterday when I happened across an article on that reality show girl "Snooki" who is apparently pregnant. (Yes, I do get some high brow reading in once in awhile ;).  Anyhoo... Snooki is yammering on about how much her sperm donor loves her bigger boobs....and she says... "they are like a D now!" ....okay...they have pictures and there is no way she is just a D...she's at least a double E on that teeny 4ft frame.  Again.... our culture's perception of true bra sizes is totally off.

Good luck with your consult Galsal. :)

Interesting article on a celebrity's claimed bra size and why someone in the bra industry says she's off base and why people don't like to publically claim anything bigger than a DD.

(Yes... I have nothing better to do with my time than find articles about celebrities boobs) Tongue out

SueBeeBC - You make me laugh with the boob greed!  Sometimes I wonder if that is how I ended up wtih these 450 ccs.  I definitely thought this whole process was like going through puberty again!  Dang and even the color of your bra can make you feel bigger or smaller.  My PS claims the same with different type shirts, which I know is true.

My rc measurement is 28.  That makes me a 32 band.  The lady in Dillards measured under my armpits the other day and told me I was a 30 band.  is it as accurate to measure under the armpits and not actually around the ribcage under the breasts?  I do think I have toned up some, but don't know about a 30 band and she did not have any 30 bands in the store to try on.

Lago - my sister size is a 34 C and yes I did get your message!  You made my day and you look great.  I definitely am getting a sense of relief with my decision to go Style 15.  My PS could never help me in this area and you ladies have - that is awesome.  Maybe it was just a time thing too.

Susan- that article on Kim's boobs is great!  I do think there is too much thought about one certain bra size.  If I tell anyone my current size they are shocked.  I think everyone is way off base.  I have two teen girls who are getting used to their bodies and hear them talk of bra sizes sometimes.  I think one of the best things I did was take them with me for my first fitting at Nordstroms.  They learned alot and were measured too - yep we had them in the wrong size.  I think we all walked away that day with pretty, correctly fitted bras.

TwinMom - I hope you feel better soon!

kickitmom I found that both Fleetfeet (local sport store for athletes) and Macy's both sold me the wrong size bras. Both had me in a C cup. Fleetfeet wanted me in a 36 because they measured me as 31 when I was only 30.

I myself found that the 34D fit the best. I just went to Nordstrom to confirm I wasn't crazy. Glad I could make you day. BTW those who are wondering… I just sent her some photos of me in my bras.

I am so glad this thread is resurrected. It was one of my favorites during chemo as I was focused on something more fun like picking the foobs and not addressing cancer 24/7. Of course, I got an infection and had to start over, put that is history.

I have Mentor 350-425 smooth round high profile. Due to the skin in the infection area he had to use a slightly smaller implant, so he is going to fat graft to fill in at the end of the month.

I think I look pretty much the shape of the girl at the front. I wanted smaller and I have the more athletic look I wanted.

Bras all run differently. I went to a place called Barbaras who specializes in their fitting. She put me in a 34D, of one style which is very comfortable, but it is the smallest D cup I have ever seen. At Macys, there are a couple of wireless styles I like and they are 36 C. In wacoal, it can be a B. Some need fill in at the top pole part, some dont...particularly the Warner where I feel like I am buying teenager bras. I have a VS bra that is really soft, but a push up in a C. I love it, but due to the cut, it definately meeds some fill in. Lol

I am going to see what the Nordstrom people say at some point, but have decided to wait until all my recon is done.

Susansgarden...good for you with your running. I hate it. I do a fair amount of walking, and have tried running on the treadmill when I start. Hate it, hate it hate it. When we were engaged, my husband, a runner, saw a couple running and said "just think honey, that will be us." ummmmm...no.

Then, When organizing our company's corporate challenge team, I had to do a quarter mile in a relay. DH had so much joy training me, and it certainly gave the neighbors a good laugh. I hated every minute of it, although I will say that they handed off to me in third place, I ran full out for the whole way, and handed off with no one passing me.

Then, I saw the bus running the route and collapsed on it to take me to the start location. Lol. Out team captain could not believe it when he saw me getting off the bus after ru ning as all those serious runners were running back to the start.

Hi there queen o' fluff!! Sounds like you are nearing the end of your surgery journey. :)

And believe me...I'm not loving running.  In fact it's kinda embarrasing to say I'm even "running" because it is super slow and not for long stretches of time that I am actually running instead of walking.  I'm doing the "couch to 5K" training program...so I'm currently much closer to the couch portion of the training than the 5k portion!

My goal is to be able to do a 5k and jog it the entire time.  So you are only talking ...what?? ... maybe 30-40 minutes of jogging nonstop?  I should be able to do that..... I hope.

Hi Ladies, I hope you don't mind my jumping into this thread.  All of your comments are really interesting and helpful!  I was a B before and was hoping to be a small C after implants, but right now, I'm only filled to 310 cc's on the bc side and 265 on the non-bc, and can barely tolerate the discomfort!  My PS is planning to expand to 400 but yikes! for a couple of days after a fill, I'm afraid I'm just going to burst.  Does everyone feel this same sensation? And most of the expansion is under my arms.  When I sit, I have to put my arms behind me - like how you tuck the wings of a chicken under before it goes in the oven.  Can anyone answer - did you have fills weekly or less frequently?  It was two weeks between the last two, but I'm supposed to have the next two spaced just one week apart.

Mine were weekly but he filled slowly. The nurse said about 60cc each time but that sounds like way too much for the 397cc implants I now sport. I had 10 expansions and I know my PS likes to overfill but that would put me over 600cc! The last 4 expansions were painful. I needed Aleve for a day or two and I have a very high tolerance to pain.

Oh I hate when I miss so much in a few hours!  I have to post twice because we changed pages!  LOL

Susan - THANK you for that KK article. SO true.  I cracked up.  I dont think anyone really tells their size when asked.  DD does sound nice and I know everyone 'wants' to be a DD (so they say!) so thats what they will tell.  Whats so wrong wtih C or D or bigger anyway?

Kickit - I had a measurement at Nordstroms.  I measured a 28 and she said I could go with a 32 OR a 30 depending on the brand.  A 30 is just harder to find.  The 30 bands in Freya were tight but felt wonderful (I had added a few pounds of winter activity however) but it takes getting used to.  A 32 at VS is loose unless I go with the lace bras.  So its completely plausible you wear two different bands.  :)

fluff - Ive been to Barbara's!  Quaint little place!  My fitting was at the Nordstroms in Cincy - I love love my fitter - she was British and really cool (she would say "NO" if the bra wasnt right....I like that in a fitter)  I also hate running....and walking still bothers my knees.  Its why I ride.  I really enjoy biking.

And to finish up - yes the TE was horrible - I was overfilled by 100ccs to make room for the implant.  It was high, tight, hard and miserable toward the end.  I was getting 70-80ccs at a time.  Ill tell you though, as much as I hated the TE and how awkward I looked at the end with one giant boob and one flat natural one, Im really glad for the technology of it all.  Im happy with my final result!

Suebee...i like biking also, although I dont power bike ride. We head downtown Indy with our friends, and hop on the Monon Trail. We can bike all the way to the northside if we want too which is a ways. We generally ride to Broad Ripple, stop for lunch or dinner and then bike our way back that takes around all the fun stuff. It is about 20 miles total of decent riding. We have a newly finished cultural trail formwalkers and bikers and it is great.

On fills....I had about 60 each time. It was really tight at the end. I took the occasional muscle relaxer, but usually just aleve or ibuprofen.

jojococo- Yup, I was as tight as tight could be after every fill!  I could actually feel the TE's move back towards my rib cage each time.  I know he always did 60cc's at a time but I was in the dark about exactly how much I wound up with at the end.  I didn't have very much loose skin even after a SS BMX.   In my path report I read that they took about 270 grams of tissue on the BC side and about 240 on the prophy side and put back in 421cc's implants which on me is about a C.  I'm a lifetime member of the  "IBT" club!

If i want to go with implants, can go with gel.  Nice option.  PS has done this for over 25 yrs and 85% of all procedures he does are recons.  He doesn't like PS who tell their patients what they should have - it's their decision, so long as it fits within the boundaries of what will work.  btw, he doesn't recommend nor like to use saline for implants because of the rippling effect.  due to how wide my chest and shoulders are, even to be smaller than I was he said it would still be 500-700cc fill.

They've begun doing Diep at my VA hospital.  He's pretty sure he's going to decide i'm a good candidate for that, but wants his partner to chime in since they'd both be doing the surgery.  Compared to a Tram, I'd much rather go with a Diep - if that's how i decide.

Chiming in about the TE's.  I'm the weirdo (of course ;) case.  My PS doesn't overfill.  In fact, my TE's were underfilled.... I think they had the capacity for 600cc's...and he ended up filling to about 450cc (I ended up with 457cc silicone implants) .. so my TE's were still pliable until the end.  I actually kinda liked 'em.  I don't know if the fact that I did a nipple sparing...plus didn't really go much bigger than the originals..made the difference?  Though it's the pec muscles that are getting stretched out the same no matter what your original size was.  I'm still a little confused as to why us BC girls have such a hard time with (and why we even need to) do the TE's ... when augmentation girls who have submuscular implants just have them shoved in there from the get go?
