    Barbe,

Some people just don't get it do they? Silly lady. cute card idea though. And...if your pockets are still anywhere near that deep in our button poker game, I'm going to have to rethink this. You could just buy every pot! Lol

I found a button sorter, yahoo!  My friends son wanted me to mend his favorite back pack in exchange for doing something for me.  I would have done it just because, but his parents said no!!  So I'm racking my brain on what to have him do.  Cleaning was outa the question, then the button pick sparked an idea!!!  He can sort my buttons for me.  I have 1,000's of them.  He cracked me up.  He goes I'll sort all of them.  I finally had to let him know how many buttons I have, lol.  We finally decided that he'll sort one jar for me then, we'll go from there.  Just to have one jar sorted would tickle me.

That is a great exchange, mending for sorting. Good deal!

That would be a good deal for me too.

    That's great news, Crissy.

The kids came over last night for their weekly dinner.  I told DS and his future bride that I will require some help around my house while I am focusing on the bridesmaids' dresses and I will expect someone here on Saturday so we can get stuff done.  FDIL said she'd be here.  DS has to work, but we'll find other times for him.

Another bridesmaid comes tonight to have measurements taken.  Mother will be coming over tomorrow and she will be making the sample dress for the girl who needed big alterations, and I will be sewing the dress I measure for tonight.  I'm thinking that FDIL can vacuum my house, clean the pantry or some other things I am foregoing to sew on my days off.

Meece you sure have taken on a huge job. Hope it all goes well without too many changes needed and also hope they all muck in so you can keep your house clean and organized while your time is taken sewing.

I'd LOVE to see the dresses as you go!! Chrissy, didn't think we'd see you so fast - thought you'd be playing with your new cabinet! How is it working out?

Oh Barbe that room is such a mess right now that it seems like I'll never get things organized again.....lol. I have taken the opportunity to unpack things that have been in boxes since we moved here four and a half years ago. That also means that I have to clean out closets to make room.

Now why did I start all this?........oh I know, so I could use my sewing cabinet.......lol.

    Sometimes a girl needs a break.....hahahaha!

I hear you!! My sewing room was packed to the gills after we moved here almost 2 years ago. It became the dumping ground for stuff we didn't know what to do with (and seasonal) like floor fans, etc. THEN, we got the flooring done so I had to take everything out! Took everything into the master bedroom (we do have a large one, thank goodness!) as the sewing room was getting hard flooring and the master was getting carpet. Anyway, had to move everything back in FAST as they were going to do the master bedroom next day!! So stuff just got jammed in, yet again....sigh. I saw my window of opportunity slam shut on my fingers!! Yell

Meece....Your project does sound daunting, but I'm certain you'll get it done.  I too would love to see pictures.  I'm helping a friend right now make 4 flower girl dresses and baskets for her son's wedding in early September.  We've had fun sewing all day.  They're cute too, which helps!

I must say I'm wondering who in my family needs some kind of sewing project so I could get them to come clean my house.  It's so much more fun to sew than clean and bartering is such a great idea!Wink

Barbe, Too funny. "I saw my window of opportunity slam shut on my fingers." The smallest room in our house is my "study" which is used for sewing, art, computer, storage, etc. You can imagine what it looks like. Right now a pile of stuff is in front of the closet because I didn't want my foster cat hiding in there when he had a 7am check-in for surgery.

My sewing room is slightly orgainized for now, although there are patterns and muslin on the floor.  I cut out the largest dress from muslin this week, and my mother is coming over today to help.  She is going to put together the muslin dress, and I am goin to measure two more bridesmaids and hopefully cut their dresses out, and get them started.  It will be fun to have someone here to chat with as we work.

Oh, my mothers barter for helping me? I am going to teach her ow to make the crazy quilt bed runner.  I get to barter and have help with a daunting task, both sewing!

Oh, and since she's the one who gave me the serger, I can learn from her, not by reading the manual!

Barbe - Would you post the picture of the hanger used for recipes here?  The one you emailed me?  I deleted the email too soon then I can post my ideas for using it other than cooking.  Thanks

Barbe emailed me this picture and I told her what I do with the hanger when I am sewing. She asked me to post those ideas here.

I have put a nail in my wall at eye level to my sewing machine and I put my quilt patterns, color pictures and layout guides on it.  When I am doing a log cabin quilt, I copy the layout guide in the book, pin small swatches for each section and it is right there, no guess work, no searching for what colors are to go where.  When I make a quilt for the first time, I also like to have a color picture of it for reference.  It helps me put my colors together and also allows me to see if mine is going together the same way.
