Bonfire of the Goddesses

First, hugs to all who need them this week....well, I guess that's everyone.
Glad the vet is tossed.
I want to toss my coworkers but is that legal?
They took up collections for 2 people with cancer after I was recovering from my surgery. (I even helped pick out a gift that wasn't a melon-rich edible arrangements) It took me months to get over not getting even a card from anyone or a note on my chair....Now, one of the ladies who just finished chemo wants to give a little "thank you" party to the department for their support. It was decided by the same people who overlooked my surgery that I would also participate and "celebrate" the end of my treatment. It sounds so ridiculous, but I was in disbelief that they want me to buy food and thank my department for nothing. The other ladies who got gifts did not know so I told her "I will come and bring something to celebrate your end of chemo, but I have nobody to thank." I want to give a warm warning to my coworkers who are close to being tossed.0 -
Had to share this from yesterday morning, I thought it was funny afterwards, scarey though when I realized, I was so far from the house and safety, whew.
This morning at 6am my Schatzi alerted on something in the backyard-never had she been so intense. No tail wagging and her deepest bark came out. Suddenly, I found myself in the back yard. The person that's supposed to be keeping her head up right LOL's. There was some sort of animal in the bushes, that was definitely trying to make a retreat someplace. Schatzi is about 75 lbs. German wired haired pointer and truly a woss. I realized, I had to get back to the house without falling, yard has small unevenness's all over the place. Well made it back in one piece without a fall. Used my airplane arm move to steady, could imagine a neighbor seeing me at that time in the morning LOL's.------pretending I'm flying after a craniotomy. That would have been a good America's funniest Home video for sure. The things we do when on automatic response mode !

Geez Joan - maybe we can poke at your coworkers with a sharp stick until they begin to feel the heat of the flames. Not toss them yet, but just give them a taste of what might come...

Joan I agree with madpeacock, what they did was truly hurtful, AT least but their sorry butts in the fire for a bit of burn wake up!

Joan, reminds me of how people responded to my DH when he lost his parents. He lost his father (who was almost everything in the world to him)) in January, had a very few people who expressed sympathy, but when he lost his mother (who was his least favorite person) 6 months later, EVERYONE was sympathetic. I also see fund drives for some cancer patients, accident patients, etc etc etc with penny jars sitting in various businesses, and wonder "why support THIS person and not THE OTHER"? So many in need, what triggers people to help one and ignore the others? Are some just not noisy enough about their needs? I wonder if you have been the one who provides lots of support to others on a daily basis that no one even saw that you needed help yourself? I would not be as complacent as you are - I would bring nothing to thank anyone for anything. Bring an empty bowl and say "as much as you have given me, I give to you". OK that is the real brat in me..... you are being very gracious.....
Sheila, be careful!!!!! Am so glad you didn't trip and fall chasing whatever was out there!!! Besides, it might have decided you were a tasty morsel, did you ever think of THAT???? Geez, I don't want something to be roasting YOU on this fire!!!!

madpeacock, ba-ha-ha! I want a sharp stick to join in on the poking, too! Grrrr!!!

Hey....I'm so glad people are tossing stuff left and right....that fire is soothing my broken foot! Keep it coming everyone! I need all the warmth I can get!
Granny....Get the book, if you haven't already...MIND OVER BACK PAIN!
And those condescending medical professionals.....we should just start another fire for them.... otherwise the flames from our original bonfire might cause a national firestorm.........
Sheila...please dear....BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last thing you need is a broken bone! Misery does NOT like company!

VR, what did I miss being on all these mind altering drugs. When did you break your foot? Have I had a synapse failure.(likely-yes, drugs).
Linda, Yes, I will be more careful. Yes, once I heard the rustling in the thicket. "It was , what could be so bad , that my dear Schatzi that is a "whuss" for most everything, was the most aggressive bird dog action I've seen in her in 5 years, And what was it I was going to do?". But It's a fun memory now. Flying in the yard back to the house, very carefully.

Sheila... I was visiting Austin,TX last week and was looking to find a way to make my trip memorable... so I found a pothole with my name on it!

VR - Yes, we have quite a few potholes with all the rain we have been getting. Sorry that was the gift you left our beautiful city with! Heal quickly and well.

VR, hope you are healing well. Do you have one of those fashionable walking boots? Or is it cast and crutches? Neither one is fun...but they'll burn great in the fire when you are done with them. ;-)

SAS stop playing w the wildlife. careful
Joan - they need something. And not a party by you. Reminded me of when Hubby tore his knee cartiliage, off work for three months. He has been there for almost 40 years. He has contributed $20 ++ to every need and funeral, every injury, every cancer and injury and health need and lay-offs too, for the workers and their families or survivors. But not one person thought to take the collection for him. He has never said a word, and I did not to him, but I believe he was quite aware like you were that he had been looked over or whatever happened. What you said to the other who were helped, that you had no one to thank, that is courageous, and that you will gift to them on the side, seems appropriate and a way to take a peaceful stance. But I am sure it would hurt.((hugs))

Dancetrancer...I got "lucky." No cast! Doctor said that a cast would make my foot wobble once the swelling goes down. Instead, nice boot...firmly attached to my foot. Thank goodness for velcro.... Thankfully, he also doesn't think I'll need surgery. Wouldn't give me crutches. Told me that he wanted me to use the foot gingerly and rest the foot as much as possible. I can't imagine using crutches because I had shoulder surgery last year and several years before on the other shoulder as well. It was quite embarrassing visiting the ortho because I hadn't even made it to a year after my last orthopedic surgery......I think I will keep him on retainer!
Can't wait to throw the boot in the fire...Oh...and he gave me a smaller boot to transition into...so I will have plenty of stuff to throw on the fire once I am healed........
Openheart....I love Austin. My younger son is a graduate of UT and is now working there. So I will be spending even more time there in the future avoiding potholes..... Also love Dallas! Come to think of it...Texas is AWESOME! Got another son in San Diego...Kinda like Austin better than San Diego. But the place I love best, where my daughter resides, is the pothole capitol of the world..which also happens to be my hometown...and that's New York!!!

VR, that is great news about the boot! I know you can't wait to give IT the boot! LOL FYI, when you do start getting up on it more, make sure you wear a shoe with a big enough heel on the other foot to match it and make your hips level. Otherwise, you will likely end up with back pain from walking with a boot-induced leg length discrepancy!

Dancetrancer... My foot doctor who initially examined me reminded me to wear a heal. But thanks for the reminder...now I can "breathe" a sigh of relief! Hope you are breathing easier too! LOL! We are a bad group of girls... If we can't make fun of our predicaments then I ask you, who can???!!! I swear... Humor is the only thing right now that is keeping me sane!

So right VR!!!! I'm breathing really well now! If ya don't laugh, ya cry...I usually vacillate between the two extremes...LOL!!!

Hi everyone.
DianeEssa: That's horrible about the vet. It hits me hard this week because our kitty of 13 years had to be put to sleep unexpectedly. We miss her so much. Ugh, it's been a sucky week.
After further thought, I think I'd like to add to the fire. Two days after finding my lump, I was at the radiologist having a mammogram and ultrasound. I posted last week about wanting to throw him in for telling me it was "probably benign" and to "Return in 6 months for follow-up." Anyway, that day, the tech that did the ultrasound left the room to talk to the radiologist about my results. When she returned, she said, " The radiologist says it's a breast nodule." To which I asked, "What is a breast nodule?" Her answer, if you can believe this, was, "It's a nodule in the breast." And it was said in a mildly snotty manner. I was so angry with her. I mean--really? It's perfectly fine to say you don't know, but damn it, I didn't ask for you to rearrange the words in your reply as if I'm an idiot. Into the fire she goes.

In goes my phone line. My phone line is down and I am expecting the results from my biopsy. I emailed my surgeon's office and they said the results aren't back yet. I had a total breakdown last night. I took a couple of anxiety meds an fell asleep in the recliner until this morning. This is torture.

Lintroller, that tech needs to burn bad...I'm throwing some gas on her. Stand back!!!
veggie!!! So sorry. Hang in there!

LintRollerDerby - furthermore, we took the cat in to be euthanized and he examined it, though he would never haave done surgery for free, that was certain, the cat did not need examined, it was obviously in horrific shape and being feral, the emotional trauma of people was too much to handle for a calm recovery. That vet, darn him.
The tech, I had such good ones, but she needed mure than temperance, snot.
This is a goodplace to let off steam.
Today the new landlord called, the farmer who does the front pastures said someone in a brown pickup has been cruising the edge of the woods all the time as have others and they thought it was our doing, telling them they could go out and perhaps hunt mushrooms. NOT! He almost insisted this was somehow linked to us. I was quite insistent back that it was not and would not ever be us encouraging people to go on there, gggrrrr to people who trespass and ggrrr to people who do not believe me when I speak.
Onto the fire - these taxes that I must tweak to break evener and not raise alarm. Have all the details done but now must redo.

VR so sorry about the ankle. I so get it though, live in fear of pebbles, and uneven surfaces.ELEVATE, I know you know this so, I'll leave the why alone !. Hope pain isn't an issue.
LINT R-----sorry about your baby. They are so part of us.My hearts with you . That Vet 's burning-yes?
Veggy, can you call pathology and say "heh" when is it going to be ready?". This is a 3 day weekend-----and ya'll are making me crazy, literally. Their offices should still be open.

I emailed the surgeon. I already believe it is cancer...again.
0 -
Veggy, My heart and soul are with you babe. Please, whatever the answer, hold on. I know that may sound trite, but I did learn something this past 2 plus weeks with the craniotomy. I let cancer steal the joy , contentment, peace, safety, well being from me. No matter what I will never let it do that again. I may die at a point, but I will NOT let cancer take everything from me EVER again.
0 -
veggy - I will pray it is not cancer again. Please do let us know.
0 -
DITTO to what SAS said - that is what I learned after the memory gone and being so sick then finding mass and regrouping. I was frantic for a long time, even after I got the memory back, esp after.... but I know I want peace and to do what I love again. Hang on. We're here for you.

I am here too veggy. Right beside you, praying this Easter. Sas-Schatzi... you too!! My God, we have some awesome women on these threads. Some days I cringe coming to this site, and I swear it off for awhile. Then days like today, I am humbled by such wisdom.
