Evening ladies.  so today i had a dizzy episode where i had to use the wall to keep from collapsing.  Pretty scary, so....called DH he decides we are going back to the ER.  Ok....So because of some of the signs and my "medical history" they are doing a brain MRI, just got back from that and am being kept here for a day possibly 2 while they run more tests, echo, stress etc.

When they said they wanted to check my brain, I lost it.  Thankful at the4 moment I am on some adivan, it's helping.  Great MRI results will do wonders for me right now.

I'll keep you all posted very nervous at the moment.

I hope the new format hasn't scared everyone away!!!  They've made a few changes already to improve things, starting with making the font bigger in the text posting box.

I had a great day - got my hair colored and I love it.  I posted pictures on the Hair, hair, hair board if you want to see.  I tried to change my avatar but that function seems to be broken at the moment.

I didn't cook a thing today...took my mom for a Chinese lunch and we went out tonight for Italian.  I am pretty tired after 2+ days with the grandkids.  DH didn't stay with me so it was a lot of work.

Debbie - I think they fixed the email problem, you shouldn't be getting them now.

Laurie.....huge hugs for you as you go through these tests. It may sound ridiculous, but I hope you can get some sleep in the hospital...you don't have to take care of anyone else and you can be taken care of while they check you out. Holding you in my thoughts.....Thanks for posting us this update, and so sorry for your scare.

    Love your hair Michelle!!

Yes it will be perfectly beautiful as well as practical for your trip! I'm developing some trip envy. Paris is such a special place. We have a scientist friend who lives there and he had us come over for a gala (for the Cancer Society of all things!)at Chateau Versailles in February, 2008. That was amazing! We stayed in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower for the week and had great meals, museum visits, etc. The pathetic thing, however, was that we stayed up all night in our hotel room to watch the Patriots get snuffed by the Giants at the end of the superbowl game ....broadcast in French! We are such crazed Bostonians!

    When are you leaving.....so exciting!

Lacey - thank you! We leave on Friday, May 25th. I can hardly contain myself!!! That's so crazy that you watched the Super Bowl game in Paris...LOL!!!

Laurie:  My thoughts and prayers are with you as you undergo these tests.  The dizzy spell is typical of what you would feel when you continue to have these episodes of PVC's as it creates a lack of oxygen to the brain.  My feeling faint is what sent me to the ER for mine.

You are in the best place right now...they will be able to run the tests and monitor your condition constantly until you get a proper dx.  This should have been done before.

Sending you prayers and positive energy!

Laurie, my thoughts will be with you.  What a scary experience this whole heart malady has been for you and your loved ones.  Here's hoping that the puzzle will be solved by your tests and you can return to a happy normal.

I was so happy to step on the scales this morning and see the same number I saw yesterday morning!  At the luncheon yesterday following day 2 of the golf tournament, I was SO good!  I loaded my plate with a tasty green salad (vinaigrette dressing) and took a talapia fillet and a little spoon of peas.  I bypassed the shrimp etouffe with brown gravy and rice and the dessert.  And the French bread with garlic butter!   For dinner we had steak (small filet), boiled new potato about 2 in. diameter with Smart Balance margarine and Light sour cream and another delicious garden salad with home-made vinaigrette.  So I ate well and didn't lose ground with my personal campaign to lose some extra pounds for health reasons.  When I was doing WW, we were told to congratulate ourselves on good choices.  It's true that the personal satisfaction makes you feel good.  OK.  Enough patting myself on the back!

Some real challenges coming up this weekend.  On Saturday a barbecue with the Woodworkers' Guild club.  Then Mother's Day lunch on Sunday, which AGAIN I will be providing.  It does get old being the one to buy and prepare the food.  For ease of preparation, the menu is boiled whole ham, potato salad, baked beans and green bean with new potatoes.  My mother is making an easy angel food cake with pineapple.  DH is a big help.  He will be bringing the food to my mother's house for noon.  My mother and I will go to the 10:30 service at church.

Enough grumbling.  I should be thankful that I can afford to buy the groceries and am physically able to cook.

    Wishing everyone a happy Thursday.

Debbie - I tried to change my avatar to my new 'do and it didn't work. I tried a couple times with both IE and Firefox, still didn't work. So I reported it on the new format bitch thread...lol. I hope the mods remember it, I'll try again today and report it on the newer thread specifically for problems. I'm on my iPad at the moment and I know it won't work from here. I'll try on my netbook in a few minutes. Hopefully, they got it fixed.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I do love the hair color!

I am meeting a good friend for lunch today at Nordstrom's, I will have to do a little shopping while I am at it. I need to eat very low carb today so I don't have too much glucose circulating in my system tomorrow for my PET scan. Salad and meat today!!!

Thanks ladies for all the prayers and love.  Yesterday almost hitting the floor really really scared me and it took hours until I felt "right" again.  They took me at 7 am this morning for the echo test.  I still hate that they did an MRI on my brain, makes me think bad thoughts.

Hopefully I will get some results in the next few hours and I can feel relief.  Still quite anxious about it all.  I just ordered myself a breakfast sandwich and last night I ate a grilled cheese and tomato soup.  Hopefully dinner tonight is at home :)

oh and I know when DH shows up in a few he is going to laugh at me, I have brushed my teeth, washed my face and done my hair and some light make up.  Sometimes you look how you feel you know?

Laurie, my thoughts are with you.  I can only imagine how scared you must be.  Please know that the tests they are doing are part of a protocol, and that it doesn't mean that they definately suspect a brain problem.  Please let us know as soon as you find out.  I am keeping you in my thoughts and saying a prayer.

As far as food, I have to give a presentation today, so I'm sticking with yogurt so I won't vomit all over the podium, and taking my Inderal to steady my racing heart and sweaty palms.

Laurie:  Hang in there...it will get sorted out with the tests.  Keep the good attitude..great that you decided to look good for your day in the hospital!

bedo:  I hear you...when I was working the thing I hated the most was the public speaking.  If I could have ever conquered that, I could have been the first woman President...lol! That is one thing I will never miss in retirement!  The key is don't ever let them see you sweat...everyone said I was a natural...haha...if they had only known the real truth!

Carole:  Congratulations on holding your own on the weight...once your body adjusts, the weight will start to come down.  I don't remember if you were taking any of the Al's but I hear that they sometimes can cause weight gain.

MRI came back clean and the  echo test did as well.  Everything looks good and I am going home.  His suggestion as to why I may get the PVC's is stress and anxiety....great.  Thats easy to fix,  NOT.

Still feeling very frustrated, but glad they found nothing wrong in the brain or heart.  Apparently I AM the problem.

Laurie- I'm so so very happy to see this when i logged on that your tests came back normal. I was doing some research on you yesterday putting in some of your symptoms and some results showed anexity, so i guess that would be better than the other stuff but know that can be so frustrating too. Sometimes you want it to be something they can fix. I hope and pray you will start feeling normal again. Hugsssss!

Carol- Your luncheon sounded good, dont think i could be that good, the food would be so tempting. Have a fun week-end sounds like you will be busy.

Bedo- Oh i know i "dont care for" (ha) standing up in front of people and doing presentations, when i was in school and knew i had to stand up in front of the class and read i would be hockey. Made me sick to my stomach too. Now that im old enough i could take an adult beverage befor hand lol! Hope it went smooth for you today.

Michelle- Looks like it is still not fixed since its hours since you posted. I'm sure it will take this some time to get all the glitches out, im getting a little more comfortable with the new board but still prefer the other. Its so hard to find the newbie stuff. I bet when Kay comes back on Sunday she will be like.. WTH!! lol! Hope everything goes well tomorrow, will be thinking about you.

Laurie:  So glad everything turned out ok.  The doc will probably prescribe a beta blocker to take to minimize those PVC's so you won't feel them so much.  Try taking some extra vitamin C and magnesium, as well as potassium to see if that will settle them down.

  • LuvRVing
    LuvRVing Member Posts: 2,409

Laurie - great news that all is OK, I am so happy for you!  Now you just have to work on that anxiety thing...easier said than done, I know!

I met my friend for lunch at Nordstrom's Cafe today, then did some shopping.  LOL, I told my DH about a cute purse I bought from Brighton and he went out and bought the matching wallet for me while I was still out with my friend!!!

This purse reached right out and begged me to buy it...LOL!  I really love Brighton handbags, even better than Coach or some of the other famous designer brands.

Supper tonight will be a store-roasted chicken with whatever veggies I scout up in the fridge. DH will eat some of his leftover Italian food from last night along with the chicken.  I'm sticking to low carb for my PET scan tomorrow.  Then tomorrow evening we'll attend the Honors Reception with our DD, that will be proud parent time!!!  We'll take her out to dinner afterwards, apparently there will be refreshments but it's not a meal.

Debbie - I tried again to change my avatar and still couldn't do it. So I am guessing it's a problem they are working on.

Glad to hear your tests came out OK Laurie.

    Hugs.

We are in the process of getting my Dad more help at the assisted living.  We will be setting up a meeting with VistaCare Hospice to see what they can offer and what he qualifies for.  I am ready to FIRE the homecare company that helps my Dad 20hrs a week because all the owner does is bitch and complain how hard it is for them to handle my Dad and how they don't get any help from the CNA's that work at Nashoba Park.  I feel like telling her if you can't handle the job let me know and I will find someone else.  My brother hates her.  SHe even had the balls to ask me if we have considered putting him in a nursing home.  Last night we had a meeting with the head nurse and director of Nashoba and they don't particularly care for her.  When I told her we are looking for a Homecare/Hospice to come in she got a little defensive and started saying that they will not toilet him or shower him and will only give a few hours.  NOT!! this VIstaCare will give up to 8 hours if you qualify and Medicare may elect two 90 day periods or an unlimited number of 60 day periods.  So we will see.

Time to take my happy pillUndecided

Laurie, I'm relieved for you, tho I know it is no picnic to deal with the anxiety factor!

However......there are very specific strategies you can use to calm that down a bit.....and I recall you already have. Did they suggest a cognitive behavioral therapist? That's the best therapeutic modality for reducing anxiety, other than meds.

I loved that you "did up" while in the hospital....no reason not to....I recall my first clinical supervisor telling me once when I complimented her on how nice she looked that she was feeling lousy that morning, so decided to work from the outside in to change her mood! That was 40 years ago....

Had a sumptuous "teachers appreciation luncheon" today at work,(compared to any of our usual bagged lunches!) antipasto salad, two different garden salads, chicken parm, manicotti, chicken marsala. I stuck with the marsala and the antipasto salad. They had ice cream sundaes in waffle bowls for dessert....and a "gift" of a free nutritional or chiropractic consultation from a local health center.

Given all that food today, I had a bit of leftover (you guessed it) kale salad for dinner.

Off to watch the Celtics....fingers crossed!

By the way, a random breast thing....I am having incredible recurrent stabbing pain in my radiated one. It took me by surprise this week, and I swear, if anyone ever bumped into me right now I'd reflexively take them down!

    Laurie,

Glad to hear that the testing all came back ok... It is good news even though it is frustrating that there isn't an easy fix! I do know from personal experience that stress and anxiety can cause many different symptoms.... Hopefully, knoeing that the testing showed nothing physically wrong will ease your mind...

    Michelle,

Will be thinking of you tomorrow as you have your PET scan....Get it done and then push it to the back of your mind as best you can ( I know easier said, yada yada...) and enjoy every minute of DD's graduation weekend!! I'm sure you will be one of the proudest parents there!

Michelle- I love, love your purse. What a sweet wonderful husband you have. Will be great for paris too! Maybe if you PM the mods about the avatar you will get a response back as to what the problem is, with so many people complaining on the as you say the "Bitch thread" LOL, they might have overlooked it. I will be thinking of you tomorrow!!

Deb- Sorry you are dealing with this, that B..tch needs to be fired. Why do people work in jobs that they arent happy in, i just dont get it. No reason to treat people this way, it makes me sad.

Lacey- your luncheon sounds yummy! Hope everything is alright with the radiated breast and nothing serious going on!

My Dad and his wife is coming tomorrow morning for a visit until Monday. I have been cooking and cleaning all day. My dad is vegetarian, so made eggplant parmesan, macaroni salad, banana nut muffins with blueberries. Oatmeal cookies. Cut up veggies and prepared the salad. And made homemade croutons and ranch dressing. Hope my dad takes his time getting here so i can sleep in a little bit. I will try to check in tomorrow to see how your appointment went Michelle. Laurie, Hope you are doing ok

Everyone who is a mother, have a Happy Mothers Day! crap, dont know how this happened. Yikess!

Michelle:  Handbag is lovely!  Don't you just love it when you make a great find like that!  I hope your scan turns out good today and you can be off on that Paris trip with not a care in the world but to have a great time!

Deborye:  Sorry you had such a problem with the homecare company.  When things like that happen I figure it's for a reason and I act upon it.  Time for a change.

Today I'm out getting ready for DGGD's first birthday party that I'm having at our house on Saturday.  It will be interesting because her father and his family are coming as well as her mother who my DS despises.  I told him to suck it up...it wasn't about him!  I'll try and take photos to post if I can figure it out.

You know all that stuff i did all week and yesterday preparing for my dads visit? He called this morning and said they were not coming because he has a cold. He just found out  3 days ago it was mothers day, said then he didnt want to drive during a busy holiday and that he thought he should work at the restaurant. Then changed his mind again and said he was coming yesterday when i talked to him. I spent over 200 dollars on food yesterday and up til midnight cooking the rest of the stuff. Im so upset. I dont want him to be sick but i have a feeling he just didnt want to come for this busy weekend. If i find out he worked at the restaurant Sunday i will be reaLLLy be upset. He only lives 4 1/2 hrs away but i havnt seen him since Janurary and really was excited he was coming ;-(((( Thanks for letting me vent i cant do it on FB he would see it lol!

    Michelle- Any news yet?
