OMG! All these pee stories having me laughing out loud, seriously funny! I have done my share of peeing on the side of the road i was too afraid at night to walk in the woods so would wait until the coast was clear and pee by the car. When my DD was younger and she was peeing in the woods she asked, mommy why do girls have nu-nu's and boys have squirt nu-nu's? How do you respond to that? LOL!

Minustwo- That chocolate cake sounds really good i saved it. Thanks!

Michelle- Hope you are feeling better from the flu. Have a safe trip home.

Lacey- Have a safe and good time on your trip.

Laurie- Did you see the Big C tonight? Strange turn of events on the serogate mom, and susan serrandon. wow!

Had a great time today dinner was good and simple fare with bq ribs and chicken, corn on the cob, garlic bread and a shrimp and avacado salad. We sat on the Lanai watching all the people on the beach and kites. An awesom day!

I have a tip.  When you're peeing in the woods and it's on a hill or slope, face towards the top of the hill, I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but it works better.

That cake sounds delicious, but I would like to make a carrot cake from scratch for dh's birthday on the 8th.  Anyone have a great recipe?  I'll be looking through my collection of recipe books.  I usually order a cake from a really good bakery but now I have my super duper stand mixer!  Might as well use it.

I have to chime in here on the pee stories...seriously...I was in a sporting goods store with my BF and there was this device they were selling for women so that it is easier for them to pee out in the wilderness...it's a cup with a hose attached...too funny!  This way you can do it standing up!  Some genius made a lot of money inventing that one I'll bet!  I asked the clerk how many they sold and he said quite a few.

Spectacular day yesterday...drive to Asheville...lunch, and then a visit to the farmer's market and garden store for a look see.  I purchased some verbena for my little flower pots that attach to my trellis...an easy plant.  I will see how they do with little water, and if they die, I am going to put english ivy as a replacement since it does well and withstands the winter.  In my front flower bed a foxglove volunteer had sprung up, giving me an idea that this would be an ideal place to plant more like this...in with my hostas.  What great ideas you get from nature taking it's course.

Dinner last night was leftover soup and a salad with some nuts and dried cranberries for dessert.  We never made the movie as BF wanted to watch the end of the golf tournament on TV.  Got to watch Tiger make his awesome put that put him in the lead to later win.  I think even Tiger was surprised as he hasn't been playing that well lately!

It's cloudy out today, so a good time to think about looking for herbs for my garden, and getting that started.  Have a great day everyone!

apple:  What?  That's awful...he must have been so scared...please tell me it wasn't on purpose.  My ex drove off in his motor home after my DD's wedding and left his youngest...a cute little 3 year old.  Actually she was happy because she thought she was going to be able to stay with us for a while...hehe!  She threw a fit when he realized it and came back to get her.

My mother lost four out of the five of us at one time or another. She left me at a dept store..she had the five of us and some of the nieghbor's kids piled into the tailgate. I guess she didn't stop to count! I went back into the store and tried hard to cry (something I've never been good at) till someone noticed. I still remember them asking me to spell my last name so they could frantically look up my phone number. I knew the phone number ...still do to this day..8963591...and could have given it to them...but they didn't ask me for the number...just the spelling of my name..I was a literal child!

Apple!  2 hours?  Your poor brother!

Jill- sometimes people don't give kids enough credit.  Love the image you gave of all the kids pileing into the tailgate.  Welcome!

I laugh at the forgetting kids stories.  We only have 2 and every time we go to leave the house my husband actually looks in the back seat and says ok we have 2, are you both strapped in?  Ok we can go!  EVERY time!!  I always shake my head at him.  Although the strapping in part came secondary after we pulled out of the drive way and our 4 year old told us pull over.  No....why?  He says, no one buckled me in and the police are going to come.  oops:(

Last night my friend passed away.  I am happy for her that she was comfortable and with her family.  It's just so sad.

So I am going to make Debbie's Belgian Chicken tonight, except I don't have shallots.  I am hoping it's good anyway.  It was pouring rain all day here again and I didn't want to drag the kids into the grocery store.

OMG I almost forgot- Carol- LOL!!!  A tennis can at a race?  That had me rolling laughing!!  We do what we have to do!!

Once while working the evening shift at the hospital, I left at 11pm and the roads were total ice...well I slid off the road, and a cop came by to my rescue and while sitting in his car waiting for the tow truck, I had to pee soooo bad (should have gone before I left work) I told the cop what was up and i got out and went to the back of the cop car and peed on his back tire.  Afterwards I thought OMG he could probably see me in his side mirror!

Cold and rainy here too, I actually had to put socks on to warm my feet.

Tonight is leftover pork roast in spaghetti sauce, just as I promised my DH. It has been simmering on the stove all day.  I slow roasted the pork for 7 hrs yesterday in a beer bath...was so good.

Apple  made me laugh about leaving your brother.

Carrie- LMAO you peed on his tire i really giggled on that one!

Laurie- So sorry about your dear friend may the angles enfold her in there light and love. ((((hugs))))

My mom left me at a convience store bathroom once we only lived about 2 blocks away, when my mom realized she had forgotton me she turned around to come get me and i was standing outside the store crying my eyes out, i could of walked it! lol

Hi all!  We are home, made it off the plane, through Immigration, baggage pickup, Customs and onto our shuttle then home in less than two hours.

Last night's dinner cruise was lovely, the food was enjoyable, we were surrounded by English-speaking couples (a nice change) and the lights of Paris were lovely.

I am feeling a little better but I seem to have a cold as part of this crud I picked up.  I still had a fever in the middle of the night so I've been taking Tylenol.  It's about worn off and I think I am ok other than the sneezies...we'll see.

DH wants pizza for supper, I swear he should have been born Italian.  He's making a quick grocery run and fetching the pizza, so it will work.  We should have brought a baguette home!!!

Here's a healthy recipe i saw on Dr. Oz today that Dr joel Fuhrman says is one of the things to help lose weight without all the calories and sugar. its called a Fudgy black bean brownie with a banana shake. My friend had tried one of these brownies before and said they were delicious. Think i will try them tomorrow and let you know how they turn out. Sounds yummy to me.

    Brownies

    Ingredients
2 cups cooked black beans or canned no-salt-added or low-sodium black beans, drained
    10 Medjool dates
    2 tbsp raw almond butter
    1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup natural, non-alkalized cocoa powder
    1 tbsp ground chia seed
Raspberries or other berries for topping

    Banana Treat

    Ingredients
    2 frozen bananas
    Handful of blueberries
    A few walnuts

    Directions
    Preheat oven to 200° F.

Blend the black beans, dates, almond butter and vanilla in a food processor or high powered blender until smooth.

Add the remaining ingredients and blend again. Pour into a very lightly oiled 8 x 8 inch baking pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours.

Cool completely before cutting into small squares. Top with raspberries or other berries.

Blend bananas, blueberries, and walnuts in a high speed blender.

Pair the banana treat with the warm brownies and enjoy!

I wasn't there when they left my brother.  The 8 younger siblings were on the family vacation.. they stopped in New Mexico.. the roads go on and on.  At last they figured out he was missing, but wasted almost 4 hours on the round trip.

Tomorrow - the very funny story of Jesus Christ and his social security number.

Thanks for the compliments about my writing.  I had great intentions of making a daily entry on my blog, but it got away from me.  We were on the go from morning until midnight every day, so I had all I could do to check in once in a while here and on a Diabetes blog that I have been on for several years.  I'll have time to catch up over the next few days.  I want to do it while I can still remember everything!

And Apple, your sense of humor is incredible!  I wish I could have met you when we were almost neighbors!!!

Carole, have you settled on a carrot cake recipe yet? I always used my mom's which is an oldie but goodie....then recently made one with more spices and no nuts, raisin, etc. from The Treats Truck Baking Book by Kim Ima. If you are still looking I'd be happy to write one or both out.......and I feel that all carrot cake is yummy...maybe because they typically have that great cream cheese icing.

    Let me know.....

deborye - thank you for posting that link!  My DH was in the Pentagon on 9/11, and spent 28 years in the Air Force - the song gave me goosebumps, and made me feel so proud of his service.

I too enjoy this thread - dinner tonight is meatloaf glazed with chili sauce (beef/pork/veal combo) baby red potatoes with parsley and steamed green beans.  It is a DH fave!

sooooooooooo.. i had a brother. I was about 2.5 years older than he was. In his late teens he was diagnosed a severe schizophrenic.  We were very close and I spent the next ten years, taking him places in the afternoons, playing chess, visiting towns, galleries and shops.  He had owned a Volkswagon bug.

One morning he had dissappearred.  We looked for him for about 9 months.  One day was got a call from the State of California.. "Do you happen to know a
Peter Bry**?  We said yes.  Apparently, he had gone of his meds, went totally bonkers, thought he was Jesus Christ.  He would bless people when they asked him questions and would never reveal who he was because he really thought he was Jesus.

One clever case worker said "Jesus.. do you know your social security numver?  and he rattled it off.  I swear the next day - he was back in Kansas City.. with a private escort on his plane.

He was quite happy and chipper to be back.  (and sadly died about 7 years later of suicide).
