Hugs to everyone that makes me feel it is ok to be tired, because I always am! Today was a no nap day, which I HATE. But they were both pooped and will sleep well. I am ready for bed but the dumb cats won't come in and I won't leave them out. So here I sit

Laurie - Mine used to respond to the can opener. LOL

Susan, congrats, Ned, wahoo!
Michelle, a great grandbaby, wow, congrats. I don't even have s grand baby yet. Hey, kids, get moving! My sisters oldest just turned 16, and my brother inlws grandkids are in college, so they are way ahead if the game.
Deb, I am so sorry to hear that, and SO MAD! I don't know how you don't just hit him hard and say hey. Stupid! Oops, sorry, probably shouldn't have said that, but if you want to,.go ahead!
Had just a porkchop and taters with carrots from the market. They package them up nice and you just cook them at home, it was 4$ so not bad. And since its real food, tastes pretty good. And I didn't have to buy a while bunch if carrots and potatoes to goo bad on me.
Much love to all.0 -
DD is here, I feel so much better. We have to make a decision on what to do with DH, doctor said we can keep treating him the way we are but the liver and kidneys are fighting with each other, something to do with the Albumin and the ammonia is a little high and causing in and out of confusion. He may end up coming home with hospice but I have to make that decision. Right now he has tube at both ends. DD had a good cry, she is trying to wrap her head around this, angry, sad, all sorts of emotions. I was approved for a small equity loan but have to go to my lawyer to get power of attorney cuz DH will not be of sound mind or even able to be present at the passing of papers. I will need that money just to pay for burial. I am thinking of creamation and sticking him on top of the TV and think about what I want to do at a later date. Maybe spread his ashes at Lake Winnipesaukee in NH, we spent a lot of summers at the Lake.

Deborye: So sorry about your ailing husband...alcohol is such a curse to some. My ex was a full blown alcoholic..in and out of rehab many times and then right back to drinking. As they say in AA you just have to "let go and let God". Sending prayers and positive energy.
Today I go to the dentist...cleaning and working on my back molar trying to save; otherwise, I have to have it pulled and an implant put in..not looking forward to that:( I'll put it off as long as I can...hopefully until late fall when I'm back in Florida.
Trying to eat healthy during this short trip so bought lots of veggies at the store yesterday. My diet has suffered since I've been spending time in SC. Too much southern comfort food...lol! I have managed to keep my weight in check though...don't know how!
Have a great day everyone!

Deb (((hugs))) to you and your DD. What a difficult position to find yourself. I hope your DH's doctors are keeping him comfortable and pain-free.
We had breakfast for dinner last night. I wasn't feeling great yesterday so we ate waffles with a little sausage. I feel better today, we're thinking it may have been a chemo reaction.
Susan - enjoy your affair with NED!
Moonflwr - while it's nice to have those great-grandbabies to hug and love, I worry about the parents. None of them is even 21, a couple didn't graduate from high school, and I see a rough financial road for both families. The parents of Lilyana are living with the mom's mother because they can't afford their own apartment. Not an ideal situation for sure.
The weather is bizarre - sunny and warm here, freezing in Texas, snowing in the midwest and scorching hot in the southwest. Mother Nature is confused!

This weather is so nuts, my garden is sitting on my front porch. It actually snowed in Kansas city yesterday! I'm hoping to finally get stuff in the ground next week.
(((Deb))), too many difficult decisions to make.0 -
Some really good news...tumor markers were 500 on 4/11, now they are at 275! Is it the Gemzar or the ice cream, or both??? Woohoo!!! Meeting my sister in a little while for a celebratory Mudslide!
0 -
Wow!!! Awesome news Michelle. Hopefully it's the ice cream.... :-)
Eric0 -
Michelle - What great news!! Gemzar/Ice Cream combo sounds great. Mudslides for everyone. Keep kicking those little buggers.

Michelle,
Great great news! You may have found the magic combo.

Michelle, that is my kind of chemo!

Fireworks going off for Michelle! Wonderful news!
Nancy, our weather has gotten very chilly today. The wind makes it colder. We're going out for dinner tonight and I'll definitely be wearing some long sleeves.
Received a letter from the IRS yesterday pointing out that we hadn't paid enough taxes for 2011. After reviewing my return, I find that they're right. While I was in suffering mode, I did our Louisiana state tax return and, of course, the state wants $$$$ too. Good thing we have a gift certificate for tonight's dinner.

Nibanna Oh, yum, I have avacodos and tomatoes and onions. How did you make it? I have no problem eating it with my fingers or a spoon!
Deb, I can only hope that friends and family are there. How hard to go through this. No words can say how sad I am that you have to go through this. I hope that things get better with time.
Goats my cats respond to "who want's cannnnnnnnneddd fooooooodddd?"
I will start treatment tomorrow night and stay with BFF overnight. I will be fine.

Bedo, I missed something. What treatment are you starting?

Luv, if you're ever in Galveston, there is an excellent pho restaurant called Pho 20 at Broadway and 20th.
Carole, I feel your pain about the taxes. We had the heat on yesterday and today after 3 days of 80+ temps and a/c. My allergies are going nuts. Enough already!
Dinner was spiral sliced ham with a mango chutney glaze, scalloped potatoes and corn off the cob.0 -
Dinner was deconstructed fish tacos over a cabbage salad with black beans. Guess this is our Cinco de Mayo dinner a night early since I won't be here for dinner tomorrow night. Made two salsas so we had a lot of raw vegetables. I am so ready for the local farms to start harvesting some produce. Of course, it is too early to even plant right now, but a girl can wish.
Deb, thinking of you and your daughter often.

Deb... Thinking of you and sending prayers your way.
Dinner tonite is slow cooker beans with ham, corn bread and salad. Too hot to cook, temps feel over 90 degrees (but still went walking with DD around 10 this morning in the heat), still hot dry winds. Nothing on TV today but reports about fires in Los Angeles. And they're talking about rain in a couple days, hope it does hurry and rain to help put out the fires.0 -
Caring thoughts being sent your way, Bedo. Good luck!
Michelle, just such good, good news! Big grin at ya for ya
Rather cool but beautiful day here today... quite a contrast to the weather farther west....took a nice long walk after DH and I had lunch at a Greek restaurant (a delicious greek salad with pita), and on my walk had a serendipity!
I headed up town grumbling about having to pick up my new statin prescription, which my PCP said I at least have to try.....and as I passed this cute business which teaches kids to sew, I decided to stop to ask if they still only teach kids. Well, they now do teach adults...only individually project based, but at least I can hopefully renew my old, and learn some new skills. Yippee!
Decided to avoid the food store and instead made a soup for dinner with ingredients on hand. I made up a "powerhouse soup" including kale, parsnips, carrots and my new favorite crunchy soup addition, barley. It was really yum! Oh, and there were bits of bacon in the soup, too. DH also made himself a chicken sandwich (jumped right up!;) with leftover thighs. I had brie in the fridge so had some cheese and crackers with my soup.
Tonight at bedtime I will start my statin...per the pharms advice. Please ....no SEs! Is that common to take it at night? I have yet to read the insert.0 -
Nance,
One not related to breast cancer. May require me to take time off for an unrelated illness and to be on disability for a bit because of sides and on meds for a few to several months. Not really wanting to discuss here, because it is not BC, just so you know if I am gone for a bit, or weird(er) than usual, ha. Not to worry. BFF and DD are nurses. We'll see how it goes, thanks for asking.

Bedo... Hoping recovery is easy and pain-free. Barley is my new grain too.
Lacey... I take my statins at night too.
Anybody recommend a juicer? Mine burned out the other day.0 -
Bedo - wishing you an easy time with your treatment. (((Hugs)))
Deb - thinking of you and your family.
Lacey - I don't think it matters when you take your statin. DH was on them for a while until the joint pain became a problem. His levels have stayed nice and low without it - could be the bike-riding he was doing last summer.
0 -
Michelle, yeah!
Bedo, hope your tx is easy on you and you heal fast.
Deb, I am praying for you and your family.
Lacey, I take my stating at night, no problems.0 -
Bedo, whatever you're dealing with, good luck with it and I hope your tx is easy on you.
Lacey, I take my statin at night unless I think I'm going to have a sea breeze that evening ;-)0 -
Lacey - Statins are most often taken at night because that's when the body is busy making cholesterol.
Bedo - Best wishes for a treatment that is kind to you but takes care of the problem quickly.
Needed comfort food though not high cuisine. Had Bisquick chicken pot pie. Not too bad and used up some freezer stuff.
Deb - Continuing to hold you and your daughter in prayer.

Bedo - Hope you know you can discuss anything here if you want. We don't care if it's off topic. Wishing you the best & we'll be waiting to hear from you. Hope you don't have to give up avocados.
Michelle - absolutely amazing. I vote that the ice cream is a catalyst. Doesn't a Mudslide have icecream? I used to like Amaretto Freezes.
Deb - so sorry for your problems. Hope you get the POA. We'll be thinking of you.
Hi everyone else I've missed. Hair gone/wig on-sleep cap at night. Finally off the BRAT diet and had a can of smoked oysters for dinner last night. Good protein.

Deb! Just reading backwards. I am so sorry about your news. I'm thinking of you. Sending hugs. {{{}}}

Bedo, you know how I feel about you, since we are part of a set of triplets.
Laurie, am so sorry your tired! I remember that well. Mine are seven and eight now. Yikes! I remember those no-nap days.
Michele -- Yay! You must always have ice cream. And mudslides!
2nd -- you've got to get a Vitamix! They are incredibly expensive. Go to qvc and you can pay in installments. It makes ice cream! And if you put brocc potatoes milk and cheese in, leave it for six minutes, it makes hot soup!
Nibbana, many thanks for excellent recipes. I can't wait for tomato season.

Bobogirl... Thanks, will need to check into that one! Anything that also makes soup and ice cream - sounds like heaven!

Susan and Michelle Great news for both of you! Yay! My prefessional opinion is...stay on the ice cream!
Deb Thinking of you. Just remember that just because he had this unfortunate addiction to deal with doesnt mean he loved you and your daughter any less. Remember the good and know that he loved you!
The weather experts are saying that due to our unseasonably warmer weather with no frost (or rain) in the next few weeks, to go ahead and get the gardens going. I am heading out to get some plants.
Last night was boring salad again, DH had late lunch and didnt eat dinner. met up with summer friends from PA that came up to check on their boat getting into the water. Actually ate outside..a little chilly but doable.
Made a big batch of marinated chicken breast to have on hand for impromtu meals. Too hard to plan meals when we are outside so much, having the chicken ready gives me some easy options on the run.
