Shep - Remember, there is one's actual Birthday, but then there's our Birth Week. So you're not late at all. Cool pic too. Did you really bake that cake? :0)

Loverly ~ All day I've been thinking about what your thoughts on Pi were. Simple thoughts? No....very, very deep thoughts. The water! Yes! I missed all the connections. The tiger could not be Thirsty - only man is driven by "thirst". Water representing a person's faith.....I like that. Jesus turned water into wine, Moses parted the water of the Red Sea, Noah built the ark for water no one else believed would come......so much more to ponder now! I still "believe" the first story. Both endings still return to the power of faith, although by different paths.

You also have a story of faith. Leaving Vietnam in a boat built by your father to escape to a better life.... Susan is so right, those of us born here are "spoiled". We can complain about how "bad" we perceive things to be in the US, most Americans haven't a clue as to what "bad" can really be.

You are a such a gifted writer; your words paint images in my mind, open my eyes to things I might not see, sometimes make me laugh out loud or wipe away a tear and always touch my heart. Thank you for sharing your story. I would love to hear more.

So happy DH is home safe. Yours is such a giving and caring family. I am humbled and honored to "know" you 💗

Good Night Owlettes! I'll catch up with ya'll tommorow. Gah! I forgot to go to bed........need to be up earlyish for scans.............

JunieB ~ Well..........to be honest, I only decorated it! (shhhhhhh) I was looking at BioFreeze and saw similarities in the ingredients to Absorbine Veterinary Liniment Gel. There are folks who swear by it for bug bites on people and critters. You can get on Amazon or at any feed and grain store! I use it on my sore bones when I remember. If I ever go outside and get bit by a bug I'll let you know if it works!

Yeah Jazzy, finally here, Please, post some pics. Please, send your address by PM. I have thrifted two martini glasses with cobalt in them. I won't send them though if you have no use for them. I have three Arcoroc mugs. Cobalt. that will be coming. Nice that your moved to one year on the BS doc YAYandWhoopdeedo!

Junie ,nice to know your hip is doing good. Can't believe time has moved so fast.

Wenchie, never trust about insurance. I know some of the insurance companies are hard to get a hold off, but try an always get the authorization number from them. Insurance makes me crazy.

Lookie, I can see how that Biofreeze used improperly could be dangerous. It surprises me that it even got to store shelves. Glad you got relief. You can make a slushy ice pack that can be kept in the freezer. Ziplock bag with 1/2 bottle of isopropyl alcohol and half water. I double bag it in case the first bag leaks . The niceness of the slushy is it forms to the area when applied. With my only chemo disaster, I had the itchies for months. rotating ice bags all over was the only thing that helped.

Re: Spookie, I left a message on her phone.

Hi Mominator, skillets hmmm a thought. I found a cast iron skillet stand that holds a cast iron skillet at Cracker Barrell.

Sensi, I know it was a hard decision on chemo. Hugs, Smarrty has a tis thread on chemo. Lot's of good stuff. Make sure you are upto date on Pneumovax, shingles shot, Flue shot. Consider a MMR.if there's been any in your region. You have just enough time to get them I think if you do it today or tomorrow. If your PCP doc can't fit you in, but says it's okay, You can go to a local pharmacy, but you need a doc order. The pharmacy will file for insurance.. If the doc says it's okay , but you can't get a doc order call the local Public Health Department. They may turn you down, but tell them the need to get it done before chemo and they may relent.

Hmm Smarrty I thought your thread was on chemo. There was a super duper great thread on it. I'll go look in my storgage thread BBL

Susan, I just saw your post to sensi. I know it would be a pita, but since you have been on so many chemo's and they all have their own awfulness, perhaps you could add to Rocks thread? I. E. maybe one sentence about each chemical.

I must not of gone back far enough, sounds like you are getting your Mom's dog? She must be worse? At least FFB didn't send the dog off to the pound.
Elena is such a beauty and growing like a weed.

JUnie, isn't anyone worried it could be a clot. That should be a first ruleout when there is a sizable difference in each leg. OMD you walked 3/4 of a mile in 97 degree weather. GIRL. Yikes. Please, reconsider never doing that again. It would be a pita for the medics to get to you with the cart and all the equipment. Plus, then trying to control the cart on the down ramp. It would be highly dangerous for you all. Scares me just thinking about it. On the flip side, you got real guts sweetie.

Yeah and hootie hoo, I just got to the Birthday greetings. Thank you. ANOTHER year YAY-----------66.

Teka is that Teka? So funny. But that can't be teka, she's pretty old isn't she? This looks like a kitten

FeelingFeline I saw your posting on the Angel's thread about your friends. Sorry, Always hard to loose anyone, but two in such a short time. Bless you and them and their families.

Mags saw your post that you left a message was that you that said "Hi it's me, call me back?". I listened to it a bunch of times and couldn't figure out who it might be. My machine doesn't do caller ID with the message. . HAPPY ANNIVERSARY YAY 29 years with such a great guy, You are one lucky lady. :) Sorry, you are feeling so blue with the mets, suckssuckssucks. Me too(blue). I decided to ask my doc for Savella. I was on it for about 3 years in the very bad time. I'm going to give it a go again. The nice thing about the drug for me was I lost 30 pounds. Then stopped it and the thyroid went kafluey at the same time>>gained 50. So, maybe it will do the weight loss thingy again.as well as fix my head. I seriously enjoyed our last phone call, it was so much laughing. Keep some DiSarno on hand okay? Have fun with all the visiting that's coming up. I know how much you love your niece. She's more like a daughter than a niece.

Hi Chevy very happy you are here, I hope you come more and more. How's the girls and George?

Shep I just saw your cupcake with the CHOCOLATE. Yum. I was never a chocolate person till I woke up from the craniotomy in ICU in 2012. Craving chocolate. SpecialK brought chocolate and sat with me for hours talking. Usually it's 15 minutes, but the nurses took pity on me. I yak a lot on meds and I was flying on the dex. It was so funny b/c my jaw was frozen shut. Try yaking constantly and not open your mouth just ittybit. Plus, pushing the chocolate around the side and back behind my teeth. TOOOO to funny. Donnie, always brings me Hershey bars now. Especially if he's in trouble. Hahahaha

Susan, YAY that drug is working so long. What is it? Be greedy all you want. In your case it's a great word. Elena my be helping it all work too. Hmmm. If it's okay with Claire, try skin to skin contact. Sorry, I just realized that your visit was yesterday. Loved the spell check thought. I thought at first it was a message in the old Irish. Hahahaha.

Jazzy just came to the pic of your patio set. Love it. The one chair looks like a rocker and swivels? Super to be able to look at your gardens and birds. A beautiful cheery setting. I have another couple of pieces I can throw in now that I see your colors.

Meadow, Howdy doody, Hope all is well.

Shep that was a beautiful thought. :) Hugs

Eeyore, on dogs. In 2013 I had to redo the main bathroom b/c of a tub failure. I changed it to a shower. Dini has now changed it to his special place. I added a couple of soft cotton bedspreads. It amazes me how much this space seems to mean to him. He understands everything about it. Like today when I washed the spreads and then laid them back down. He just wagged and wagged his tail. Thumpty thump with the tail against the glass. Smiled that big lab/pit smile.and then laid his head down. So, happy for him. His life was so hard before. He was so fierce and an outside dog b/c of fleas before he came here. Florida heat and outside 24/7. Now.....................

Wow Queenie, they must be some really stupid family. Did you ever read the YKYACPW. It's all about stupid people and stuff. There are a couple of other ones linked in the Warm & Fuzzies topic box. Plus, the first 100 pages of OMG, They Found A Cure For Stupid. You will pee yourself.

Hi Kathy, working on a funk. Gonna get treatment. Found a new treatment for itchy ears and nose membrane swelling. Listerene(brand name). Hmm just thought of another place to use it. Kathy my dad was an ESRD b/c of noncompliance with his blood pressure meds. When orthodox medicine failed, I put him on a macrobiotic diet. The change was miraculous. About 3-4 years after that the diet changes promulgated by the National Kidney organization were effectively macrobiotic. It's called the renal diet by them. Sometime we should chat about it. Dad even cheated on the diet and his chemistries improved unbelievably. I have this chart from one of the macrobiotic books. All the things a renal patient has to watch are in the list. It has all the food groups on the left with all the elements , protein, carbs, electrolytes to the right. It makes choosing foods easier b/c the kidney foundation has nothing like it. One example, is we all like treats or snack foods. The standard kidney handouts will say no nuts. Based on the chart Pine nuts are a "free" food. He could eat them without limitation. He went from pulling off 8-10 lbs per dialysis trip to 0-4 lbs. There's allot more, but would be too hard to write it all.

Lookie, darling pic of your niece. :)

Loverly, glad hubby is coming home. Are they routinely testing them for Zika? He should be tested and you should avoid unprotected visits to Essex. Serious. No funnies here. Ecuador is in the hot zone and everything is not known about the virus yet. Your a pro about diarrhea now and know what needs to be done there.

Jazzy. Love "What a wonderful World" My favorite is Satchmo's version.

Okay here's the story. Someone nominated me for that VIP thingy and the Mods wanted a pic. The only pic I had was the FB pic which son cropped from 2010. It didn't work. I tried to take a pic. I look sooooooooooooooooooooo old. We'll Loverly cropped a pic and sent it.

But the pic with the nose guard and salad bowl is my life right now. Perhaps part of the funk. I'm sensitive to plastics and any external weight on the nose is causing internal membrane swelling. I have to wear paper underneath the glasses. The glasses are 1.25. I need 3.0 or better. Yes, I need to work it out with the eye doc, but remember in the funk. Not making appointments like I should.

Last week there was this very sweet chick flick that I really wanted to hear. Cupping the ears was just not doing it and I didn't have a cornucopia. I thought --stainless steel salad bowl----grabbed one and it worked. Donnie walks through the door. Stops. Looks. Said "Having trouble hearing?"

OMD Sassy! My first thought was that the doctor "coned" you to prevent you from scratching off your bandage!

OH so funny Shep, and Thanks, but we all have this vision in our heads that we never changed in our best moments. Then a pic is taken and there is this whole different person there and suddenly I look like Aunt Mabel----OMD. But seriously, the look on Donnie's face was totally priceless.

In the past I would get a lecture from Chevy that would tell me "They have improved technology, "Go do it and stop wearing a tin hat"

Earlier I turned my computer on and found that I had no internet connection. (Guess I should pay that bill more regularly) Just kidding. Anyway, it turns out that my modem was offline and the ISP had to reset it. Then all of a sudden my computer shuts off and WILL NOT come back on. You should have seen me, I was in full on panic mode (had to take 1/2 a xanax). No computer means no BCO. Well I called a friend who is knowledgeable and it turns out that there is something amiss with the battery pack or some thingy that is attached to the cord that plugs into the outlet. My friend comes in unplugs the cord from the pack, plugs it back in and turns the computer on! I had done all that numerous times myself and NOTHING. What gives? Oh Geeeeeez!

Shep - Ahh! the cone of shame. Poor Miss Marti. Miss Pris is a little tiger I take it? Kiss Marti for me please.

Sas - So glad to see you back. Hope your funk is better. The pic with you all made up is very pretty too. Love the hearing bowl.

Hi Junie, the bowl was so good to hear the movie, , then Donnie walked in the nose thing he's gotten used to, but the bowl was new,

But it brought back the memory of OMG they Found A Cure For Stupid. Literally, I made a tin hat and Stephen came in or walked in and saw the hat. He said something like" Mom what's going on?" The tin(aluminum) part was in the shape of a chicken. He was disturbed. I tried to explain we were just having fun, like he did for years on gaming. Those days of OMG were so much fun. He made me feel weird. That it was all weird. Then he went home and I went back to having fun.

Sensi, don't use dark nail polish. It only covers the nail damage but won't prevent it from happening. I had 6 CTs and my Onc prescribed tea tree oil for nails on fingers and toes twice a day. It worked great during chemo, I did not have any nail problem. You can find tea tree oil in health food store or health food section of grocery store. I even found one small bottle with brush tip just like nail polish and it is convenient to apply. Did your Onc give you a list of supplements to take during chemo? My Onc was very aggressive on supplements so it helped me a lot and I was able to work full time during the 6 rounds of treatment. When will you start CT

Eeyore-good to know on the nail polish, I had read it somewhere  I'll check into the tree oil and icing. Wasn't given a list of supplements :/ .  My MO doesn't want me to work, because I work in an assisted living, and to much of a chance of being around people that get sick.  I start August 10th at 1:30

Sas-thanks for the link and tips. Plan on printing it out and getting prepared this weekend.

Keep the baby pictures coming ladies ;)
