Susan sorry about just dropping that about the computer with Elena. Something about brain development. It's been awhile. 3D is a big no-no too until a certain age. Edison which was developed as an early education tool, turned out to have a negative affect too. But the memories of all the details are faded.
Junie, I hate when My computer does that. I think I need a new modem. It's going out more and more. But the whole unplug everything and repluging thing is still working. I'm glad you got a laugh on the salad bowl. I keep it in reserve now.

Mags. Who knows. They try. Just wish they wouldn't lie about it. My Thyroid doc missed the TC twice. I insisted I had cancer. My ENT doc had him send it to an outside lab. TC in both lobes with special staining that the original pathologist didn't use. 97% & 86% specificity. I had already collected the original path report. It was negative. Second path report about 4 dx's. The lab that did my BC report had a policy of two pathologist concurring on a dx.
Retrospectively, I think that's good. I think I will require that in the future.

Loverly, I think we are shaped by our experiences , your posts are kind and compassionate. You have been through so much and it has brought out the best in you.
Chevy I enjoy the posts of your garden, we have mice too, but I am glad I don"t see them. I don't want them in the house, but I know who to call if we do. Except I don't think you can bring loaded guns over the border.
Susan sorry to hear about your mom, having someone to help her during the day would probably be the best. My dad had Alzheimer's and was in his house alone. He had a dog that was aggressive with people and he wasn't able to look after him properly , my family couldn't bring anyone in , because of the dog. My dad went into extended care and the dog went to my sister's and with some discipline became a better behaved dog.
Junie I hope the swelling has gone down for you and you are not as tired.
Tomorrow is surgery day for me. I have to get up at five to be at the hospital for 6:15. I am not a morning person, if it was at 1:00 in the morning I would be okay. I don't know what to expect, but may be in for 3 days. My goal is to be out walking in a week. Not looking forward to the drains

Swelling is still an issue. MO did a D-Dimer (a blood test) yesterday to check for blood clots. My results are more than double the normal high. Headed for a venous ultrasound tomorrow.
When I got on the bus earlier today, the driver whom I've known for nearly 10 years told me that his precious Westie (Zoey) & Mini Schnauzer (Reggie) both got tore up by 3 raccoons at 5:30 this morning. This man and his wife love those dogs a lot. He said his daughter who works at the vet clinic thinks they will survive. Rotten Raccoons!!!!
Now for a funny. As I was getting on the bus this evening to come home, my neighbor who is in a wheelchair got on first. So as the driver was securing the wheelchair I tried to walk past him with my walker. Well I bumped his leg and immediately apologized, plus attempted to pat his back as I apologized. I missed and patted his rear end instead. I was soooo embarrassed! Oops! At least he laughed about it, then razzed me.

Thank you dear for pointing out to Loverly that Pris is BAD. I am thinking she and that mouse were on very familiar terms. Pris never used her claws on him and treated him gently. The mouse would run from her but then turn around and look her right in the eye. When he could have run anywhere else in the house, he scurried right back into my closet.....like a pet seeking out a favorite comfy place! Pris never saw me with the mouse. She is still looking for him in the closet.
Raccoons are GOOD! Those dogs are both bred to be aggressive hunters of small furry things. And all Schnauzer's are nasty tempered creatures. I would guarantee that the dogs went after the raccies and bit off more than they could chew. Harrumph!
I worry about all the walking you do. Are you putting yourself at risk if clotting is expected? Can anyone drive you for your ultrasound tomorrow? Will you get results right away? Be careful of yourself!

Wenchie ~ Ooooh your babies! They might be your original tykes. 4 weeks isn't all that long. They all look so healthy! Love those thick bushy tails! And the bitty hands! I need to scan and post some of the pics of my raccie that I raised way back when. She was a handful but also very sweet. I'm ashamed I never thought to dress her up like I did the cats. Look at this dapper little fellow!
Wren ~ how mean of your friend to lock the raccies out! I have found them to be very polite visitors who would take only the pet food and then leave. Unless it was one of the times they sat in the kitchen with us and the kitties while we ate dinner. No begging, just each patiently waiting his turn for a snack.....

Lookie ~ "Annie Oakley" was my nickname for a while after qualifying on the range for my permit. FFH had the top score and mine was the 2nd best. It was a class for police officers but spouses were allowed also. I was the only non-cop there! What a cool pic you found of the real Annie Oakley - I'm saving that one! Pretty, pretty garden too 🌹
Why do those medical people want to stress us out even more by making us get up soooo early? I'd rather go in at 1 a.m. too.

Hey Owlies, missed some posts. 2TA is a fb friend, but she doesn't really talk to me, and stopped calling some time ago. She had a rough go that was posted here with her mom and dad and their difficulties. Her mom had alhzeimers. . Difficulty with brother. Difficulties. Her DD that she was over the top in love with like we are about our kids, finally making it into nursing school and finding a love. Her Dh had difficulties for years. Finally succumbed. Perhaps, we will hear from her. Let's pray that her life now settles out and is ordinary. Sounds odd, but we all get ordinary, so, starkly different than what others perceive and pray for.

Feline-hugs.........Did you see Susans post where it had strange "Talking in tongues" I thought she was going to translate it to a centuries old saying. Did you see why I might have thought it was in the old Irish? Can't spell gaelic without looking it up. Without it looking like garlic. With my hearing loss, The Irish brogue is the worst for me. Being Irish that was a handicap. The next worst is Asian Indian. Accents with hearing loss are a trial, for more than they average. Except for Mr Higgins. Eh?
My Mom's Canadian. Lot's of English carry overs. Loved the EH?
Off on a tangent. The EH and the rise of the voice at the end of a sentence of Brits, Canadians, Australians, etc. is an enjoiner. An invitation to "enjoin in discourse". American speak ends on a down tone, a declarative tone. Doesn't invite discussion. New this by observation of the two families way before I got to college. Classes defined it. I thought well they got that right..
If you ever wonder about us Americans in discourse that's our real problem. The declarative versus the enjoiner. I love the enjoiner, creates much livelier discussions , and leads to much laughing.

JunieB, you asked me the other day how my walk was with Mitzy. She always gets really excited when she hears the word "walk", but once we got outside she would switch from excitement to caution and resist my leading. She would stand there with her head down and ears up trying to listen to who knows what. I always have to tug her a bit. It gets old after awhile. Were you given Lovenox (anticoagulant) injection after surgery? With leg swelling, sob, and fatigue, I worry about pulmonary embolism. And NO, Pris is the good one. She was gentle with GUS GUS.
Susan, sorry to hear about your mom. Too bad your brother changed his mind about the pup.

Lori, tomorrow is the day. Will be thinking about you too. Hopefully, after you are done with treatment, your hair will grow thicker than before. I knew a lady whose hair came out different color and texture at different times.
Ms. Sas, there were/are many others who went/go through way worse experiences than I. Looking back in the rear view mirror, I can say now I am grateful for each hardship. Life is a journey, and a short one too. How else would we understand our fellow travelers without hardships. We exist not simply to exist.....

I disagree with your Mom, Of course I'm the only one in the world that is that bold to say it. I believe there is a plan. I believe that at our death that it will be revealed.. For me nothing else makes sense. Why anyone dies in a moment or others die after great struggle. Karma, I totally dislike it, very negative on it. Karma by definition that I know essentially says if you have done wrong you will receive X as to be accountable for the wrongs you have done in life. Not buying that. Specially, not on BCO. 99.999% lived beautiful giving lives. I cringe when someone says in any way here on BCO that Karma will get someone, b/c by definition Karma got us. Again not buying that.
Now from a flip point, Catholic. There is a thought that we must endure a special blessing from God for suffering. Working on that one my whole life. Saints have a long history of trials. We are taught to endure trials. That God has given us a gift. I leave it with, I could have done without the gift. Polio pain was my life gift. But what polio did give me was an understanding of life trouble. Trouble is our enemy. How to work the enemy is what polio taught me. Hmm never said it that way, but that's it.
Other faiths believe it's b/c of sin. My answer to that is (^$@!*. I remember as a student nurse, a women newly dx'd with colon cancer. 1971 there abouts. Her pastor husband said to her, he could have nothing more to do with her b/c she must have sinned against God. I did come up with good words for her, don't remember what they were. But her devastation was not healed. I remember her face after her husband left saying those words. I worked always to never see that devastation again. What that idiot took from her that day, I did damn him.
So, back to you Loverly, Your story is immense. The strength of your father should be told through the ages of the family. Not many American fathers could have accomplished it. The understanding of the compass, the givingness of those that met up with you. Not meeting pirates. Please, write a book. It will help you get through your soon empty nesting of oldest daughter. Yes, two daughters behind, but it takes along time to write a book.

Wren, mr. Pilates...don't remember first name. In WW1, he was prisoner of war. They didn't know why he did so well in his cell. He figured out a way to stay healthy. Pilates started. Then they took him out of prison to work in the hospital so the soldiers would get better. He "reformed" the hospital beds, chairs, wheelchairrs and so on. Those were the first reformers. Then when war was over, he taught circus people how to use the reformers so they would have strong small muscles along with the large muscle groups. It's a very gentle way of exercise. Very effective way. So I signed up for the 10 week session. Hope to get some strength back, and flexibility. Had one free private. Lot of laughs. Only thing sore today were triceps. Couldn't lift arm to scratch my ear this morning. Didn't realize it has been woefully neglected by me
. I have exercised my whole life. Even ballet and jazz dancing. How in the world they got left out, is a mystery. The one position I was in for triceps, you actually could only move on the reformer using that muscle. She said, now I only need you to move an inch. After she said it the third time, I said, trying....lol seriously couldn't budge. Go figure. So I think this is going to be a good thing. Are you sorry to have asked..lol that was a long post. WheToday I met up with a group called the licorice project. I have been unsuccessful trying to connect with any kind of cancer group. The "survivors " back away from me cause i am their worst nightmare cause of stage IV. This group looked and said to me I was such a great inspiration to them. I am happy I didn't give up trying to connect to some group. They plan fun stuff, deep stuff,and fluffy stuff. This will be so good for me.
Just a bit ago I was in such a valley. Now back on the mountain top. Sure wish I could stay up here forever. Life is so beautiful up here:)

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on the raccoons. They may be cute as can be, but they are quite vicious also. They'll kill a small dog or even a cat. They attacked the Westie first and the Schnauzer jumped in to protect his sister, according to their human papa.
If you were the only non-cop at the range, does that mean your FFH is an officer? I sold my handgun just before leaving Las Vegas and haven't been near a gun range in 20 years. I did have the opportunity to shoot a shotgun loaded with a slug, I think, not buckshot. Once! My shoulder still hurts. :0)
Lookie - The blood test only shows that there is the possibility/probability that I have blood clots. The venous ultrasound will identify if and where they are.

Loverly - No, I was not given any Lovenox after surgery. Which surprised me. Considering my Hx of blood clots. Don't you think though that if I had a P.E. I'd be having more severe symptoms by now? This has been going on for 4 weeks. I had a chest x-ray yesterday to see if I had any fluid build up and that was negative. Even so my MO still wants me to do a Medrol dose pack and antibiotics. Personally, I think that is over doing it.
Poor MItzy! Does she seem to be scared or just trying to do her own thing? How long have you had her now?
Susan - Glad to hear you found the exercise group and cancer group. We all need a place to just be with others who take us just as we are.
Jazzy - That hot humid weather is tough to deal with. Sounds like your plan for September will work quite nicely. Hope you have a good Friday and a restful weekend.

Susan Lot's of laughs going to reformer class...sorry My first thought "Parole" New kinda what you were talking about, but always thinking how to laugh.
With you Mom I see two scenario's that asshole brother is now going to try and bring you into. 1. guilt you into taking mom into you home 2.put her into a facility that takes care of her and ask for help paying.
Of course, bar her from coming to your home. Sounds hateful, BUT you have your own time left. Don't budge
She needs to be in a two stage alzheimers unit. A two stage unit, evaluates them on level of function. The first stage unit has wandering controls, but is not locked. The next stage unit is locked. Only a team can eval what type unit she needs.
You can actually activate the process by contacting Adult Protective Services. That forces an eval. You are not financially responsible unless you signed something in the past that said you were responsible. You and your brother seriously dislike each other and this might cause a permanent rift, but never has it sounded like he cared about anyone.
Make the report, sign nothing NOTHING regarding financial responsibility.
It's safest for mom, really. Your brother is an analpore.

Please, asking for folks here and Lurkers to consider posting again on Warm and Fuzzies. I started it and Teka mentored it for awhile. There were faithful posters. They each eventually went on to their own focus.
I didn't post early on b/c I was on technical threads i.e constipation, port, wounds and science threads.
But all threads on BCO perform a function. They meet members needs. One of the ways you can judge a thread is viewings. You can do that by clicking on the forum at the top of a thread. W&F's has over 200,000 viewings.
Read the topic box. The intent developed from an initial storage place for funnies. To a place that we can up lift each other in whatever our need is. I eventually did conections to many threads that would lead to making people happy. Happy is good. Happy is a connection. Happy is a good thing
The side effect of looking for postings is we see many things along the way. That enriches us in spirit just viewing the stuff we are choosing to post.
It's fallen off the top two postings in the forum for the first time ever recently. I get it. I'm tired too. But spent 3 or so hours writing about cardio stuff today versus looking for funnies. My skills are best spent on the technical. I need others to step up and think funny.
The funny things in life create joy. We need joy. We need to laugh. We need to see beautiful. We need to see.
You are such a loving group, think about the sisters that just need a happy boost.

sas, yeah it's one of life's tough situation.i have nothing legal I am attached to he has power of attorney and all medical power. I'm seeing a elder lawyer next week..friend of a friend,so just coffe, and informative,and free. Talked with my counselor today, she said right now is a good time to call elder abuse. Since mom fellin backyard, neighbor saw her, went out there with Her son, helped mom and sent her son in the house to find my brother. He was in the tub. Then hospital time. So my brother wouldn't know who called, and I would deny it.he would tell mom and she doesn't need to be stressed out about anything more. So I probably will do that.i just wish I could get her assets frozen. But he has legal papers so there is nothing I can do. Elder care is such a broken issue. They unfortunately get overlooked. I don't have any control, there really is nothing I can do to fix the situation I am actually becoming ok with all of it. Wish it could be different, but the reality is it can't. So now I keep my focus on things that can be made better. Hubby and I had to work stuff out and so did Claire and I, and we are all in and willing to go the extra steps to have great relationships. I am finally figuring out to place my energy in things that can get more beautiful with some work. And let the rest go. Keep praying for change, but only God can change his heart. So I am leaving it at the cross. Who knows, maybe I will see a miracle. But am not holding my breath.
