Sas my nephew is 8 now. Actual birthday was yesterday but today is the party. Was looking forward to going but my idiot neighbors were partying last night until 2 a.m. which meant hubby and I got very little sleep and so it means we can't be at the party today as its a long car ride to and from. I am so disappointed that this happened but we are talking about getting him another HP book to put in the gift bag for when we make it up to him next weekend

Wenchi 12.50$ for a 20x20 room. That's amazing. Super. Love your horse missy. Would she be considered an Apaloosa(sic)? The trend is back to vinyl and laminate for flooring. Has to do with upkeep, warmth, and comfort. You're trendy :). The wall tiles aren't as expensive as countertops, so it wasn't to bad price wise. Worried I didn't buy enough.

Mags woke up thinking of you. I think you should write your thoughts in a note to the doc. She didn't listen and likely won't listen when and if the person that you talked to says anything to her. She missed an important lesson coming up as a doc. Mags slides. Yay, I hope everyone looks. Interesting about the activity. Please, advise as to how you feel today? That Adderal may be doing more than is expected. Has your sleeping improved?

Queenie Hahahah. Nice combo on the combined major.

Mommy, sounds like it's time to let the cops know about the noise. Most places have noise rules/ordinances. They're is a real estate law that each has the right to the "quiet enjoyment" of their property.

We are in a drought. Only one rain in weeks. Fires all over central florida. Today 7 people are expected for a pool party. 5 adults two kids. It's going to rain most of the day. UGH

Mommy, The regulation here is 10pm weekdays and 12am weekends. We had some neighbors down the block who had huge parties. After sending the cops a couple of times, we caught on that the cops showing up was how they knew the party was over. Happy when they moved.

QMC, Missy will be "officially" 17 in May. Her new little girl is still doing playdays and running in major barrel races with her. My BFF (Missy's trainer) says Missy is still running like she's a 4 year old and loving it! I miss her very much and selling her was the only regret I've got. DH bought 5 acres with a barn so I could bring her with me but sticking Missy out in the middle of nowhere to be retired just didn't seem fair to her so the rest is history

Noise ordinance here on weekends is no noise after 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. I told hubby this is the last time we are going to put up with the noise. Next time they party, cops are getting called, done being Ms. Nice Neighbor!!!!

Went shopping yesterday, and out to dinner, went to church this morning, then out to brunch. Were going to go to the garden store after but they were packed and I was starting to get a bit tired so going to nap now. Guess I should have worded my previous post "No more mandatory napping - now I can nap if I choose to!"

Good evening Ladies: as usual, I am way behind.

I have been sooooo tired this round of Ibrance. When I went for my Faslodex injections last Tuesday my ANC was 810 (very low) and RBC's were down a bit as well. But unless I spike a fever, MO is taking a wait and see approach.

Plus Fibro. has been really kicking my behind, actually my hips, t-spine/ribs & shoulders are really challenging me. Last Thursday I was getting ready to volunteer, but I was really struggling to even get my shower and get dressed. I even considered using my power wheelchair, but I chose to tough it out and go using my walker. I only stayed 2.5 hours and didn't get as much done as I would have liked. Yesterday I HAD to do laundry because I was down to my last pair of pants and they are not suitable to wear in public. The body is still hurting a bunch, but made it to church this morning, then took more meds and napped. Broke down and took my Kirbster for a walk using the powerchair. He loved it! I love that little boy. He will be 7 mos. old this coming Wednesday. He is sitting on my lap as I type this post. His hormones are in full swing right now and he has an appt. with the vet in 6 weeks to get his "you know whats" snipped. But we'll keep that a secret between us girls for now.

As it turns out Kirby is very picky about what he'll eat. Such a surprise, since my last Cairn would eat anything that didn't try to eat him first. With Kirby, I've had to return dog food 4 times now. Went to a specialty pet food store on Friday and they gave me some samples of dry food and 3 cans of wet food by a company called Weruva. And wouldn;t you know, Kirby likes the wet food over the Natural Balance dry food for small dogs. His favorite is the "Paw Lickin Chicken" & "Peking Ducken" The dog has gourmet tastes. Hmmph! The canned food is non-GMO, antibiotic, hormone & gluten-free. Oh well, if he likes it and it keeps him healthy, I am happy to get it for him. Chewy.com has the best price though.

Trainer kept Kirby for the extra 6 days, and she did charge me. I'm ok with that, since I know she takes excellent care of him and Kirby has her 7 Papillons to play with & 5 acres to run on. Kirby's BFF is the trainer's Papillon named Pirate. Now that he is home, I am sure he misses them, but we are bonding again.

Sensi - Please give Chance a belated birthday hug for me. Such a handsome boy. Did he get to eat the cupcake? How are you feeling these days?

Mags - Your newest pic of you with your new do is so very pretty. So glad your dentist is going to expedite your dentures. I hope your treatment goes well.

Lita - You looked pretty too in your Easter hat at the store. Hope your Easter dinner was enjoyable and a blessing as well. You're almost at the finish line for the Radiation.

Smaarty - Evies before & after pics made me chuckle. So precious! How old is she now? Any new sewing projects lately? I haven't been near my sewing machine since last October.

Susan - Hard to believe Elena is a year old already. How are you doing? Any new pics of sweet Bailey boy?

Loverly - Such beautiful pics of you and your family. Was the ride fun even though it scared the tar out of you?

Sassy - Sorry your renovation is vexing you so. Glass tray is very pretty. Glad to hear Shep is improving. I need to call her. I have not been good about keeping up with calling.

WildT - How did your surgery go? Everything to your satisfaction?

Jazzy - How was your Easter? Is work going well?

Wenchi - Glad your recovering from radiation and your skin is healing. I sure hope the Tamoxifen doesn't make all your joints hurt too bad. Your story about your DH recording the phone calls with telemarketers is hilarious. I wonder if any of them ever get to hear themselves and have a change of heart as to the type of employment they participate in.

Queenie - Good to see your post here.

Hi kathindc, Wren and feline. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying Spring.

We've had a couple sunny days recently, usually one at a time, with MORE, MORE & MORE rain again. I swear we are going to float away here in the Pacific Northwest this year. I have a swamp in my yard.

Here is a pic of a cherry tree blooming outside a grocery store near my place. Beautiful and a very mild sweet scent too. Took this pic on one of the rare dry days recently.

Well I guess I'll say goodnight for now. Will try to keep up better. Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Talked to my SIL yesterday via email about why we were not at my nephew's party. She and my brother were very understanding about it. They told me that since my mom and stepdad are coming possibly this weekend for a visit that my nephew will be coming too so we can give him his gift then. She also told me that she had explained to him about why we weren't there and his response was that my neighbors that had the party were "total jerks!"

Lita, I miss her enormously but she's not ready to retire yet lol

Sassy, yeap, Missy is an Appaloosa. Her coat pattern is black and white snow cap Appaloosa. Which means all her babies will be "colored pattern" and not a solid colored Appaloosa.

I worked in my straw bale garden for 4 hours today. Can you say I over did it? Shower and a nap for me now

Waving hi and sending hugs for everyone! 👋

Would love to be able to report that the trend of lessened fatigue continued but alas! I was down all day. I'm ok, though. The pain in my tongue woke me up every hour. (It's only 2? It's only 3? It's only… etc.) No, this is not a new pain. This is a pain leftover from the adriamycin - the red devil - the first round of chemo. It comes and goes but the last week it's been especially bad, I think from rubbing on the jagged edges of what's left of my lower front teeth. I've tried using a mouth guard but it doesn't cover the bad part. I have lots of viscous lidocaine, which helps but wears off too fast, thus waking me every hour with pain. This afternoon I was able to nap for a bit by wetting down a cotton pad with the lidocaine and wrapping it over the tip of my tongue. It's just the very tip that hurts, like if I had dunked it in a cup of boiling hot water. Burns like it's on fire. Hurts to talk or eat or drink. I tossed the pad as it was getting slimy from saliva, but I'm going to put a fresh one in after I have a cup of coffee.

    It's always something, isn't it?

WenchLori: Ranger (my AncientHorseBeast) was a few-spot Appaloosa/Arab mix--probably from one of the Polish strains. Sixteen hands, and long-suffering; I have photos of him with two horse-crazy tweens on his back, facing each other while playing 'Miss Mary Mac'. He was nibbling at grass.

Queenie, I love pictures like that. What a beautiful picture 💜

Mags, praying you're feeling better soon. SEs are the worst! The "always somethings" are the worst of the worst!

Junie, glad Kirby's home and on your lap :). The pic of the cherry blossom's is beautiful. New contractor came yesterday. Has a certification for creating "aging in place" spaces. Hopeful.

Wenchi, "snowcapped"Appaloosa. Is she going to be bred? Pics of straw bale garden? How does the straw not get moldy when watered?

Mags, the tongue thing, I'm with you it sucks. Sounds ridiculous, but try salt water in a liquor glass or a shot glass and soak the end of your tongue for 15-20 minutes. It's the hardest damn thing to try and soak. Have a towel ready for spillage and spit. Did you call the office manager of the dentist?

Susan, Bailey is so cuuuute! I want one just like him!

Sassy, I'd love to breed Missy but she's still a working girl. At 17, I'm not sure I'd take the chance. Pictures of my Straw Bale Garden coming right up

Mold and mushrooms growing tells me I've done the conditioning of the bales right and they are full of organic material for my plants to use for growth. It's safe as plants won't absorb the mold. I just need to wash my veggies really well before eating. The insides of the bales can get up to 130 degrees so I have to wait to plant my tomato and pepper plants when the temp gets down to 106 or less. I can plant my seeds now and they'll sprout pretty quickly. I have 16 bales planted so far and there are 35 bales all together. It's been some work but once it's done all I have to do is add water

Lori...wow...that's all i can come up with. Wow. I just plant and water....like regular stuff

  • WenchLori
    WenchLori Member Posts: 1,027

Susan, I ran soaker hoses up and down all the bales under the potting soil. All I have to do once it's all planted is set the timer to water early in the mornings and watch things grow. I'm praying it works!

Here's a new baby I was able to snap a picture of! Mama Possum stopped by to eat and one of her babies crawled out of its pouch to say hi! So stinking cute!

Wench- my sister found a baby possum in her pool one time and fished him out and put him in a box and fed him until he got bigger and could be out on his own. She never treated him as a pet, just got him bigger and stronger. His name was Taco.

That little baby is a cutie pie and mom is taking good care of her baby too!

Got news today that my mouth surgery is scheduled for this Thursday in the early morning. It's impossible to know what the pain level will be; we know there are teeth where the nerves appear to be dead, but we don't know how extensive that is. It will be done at the same hospital as my mx, and under general anesthesia.

Also, got a call from the scheduler at the cancer clinic about my oncologist appointment next Tuesday. They want me there earlier because he wants a full half hour with me. I just thought that sounded ominous.

Susique Bailey-----is pissed isn't he. I had Rascal that was a beagle shaunzer(sic) mix--similar. That face OMD we Americans love that face. It's so cute. It's a Bengy look. I had rascal for 15 years that way. We'd get her groomed in the schanuser(sic) way every so often. But I so preferred the rough look. Either way Rascal was a heart warmer. Bailey is sssssooooooooooooooooooo cute.

Wenchie, OMD you have it down to a total science. This is quite interesting. Teach us more. Or at least me, who is a total non gardener. It's fascinating. History? Who what when where why? How do you keep critters away? Where did you learn this?

Teka nice to see you. I won't say what Dini has done to possums and armidillo' s..........He is really a good dog, but has instincts. There was a night I had no clue about the danger to the house. I yelled for Dini. Donnie wasn't home...........It was something in the front , then about 10 minutes at the back........both dogs were going crazy. Let them out at the back. No clue. Nothing killed. Nothing. It was a moment that I appreciated Dini's aggressive attitude. Shat's retreated right away and went under the table. It was a scary moment. I found it interesting that a dog -Dini- that I was seriously scared of when he came in 2013, became the protector and the one I depended on.

11:30 pm... Dini just beat me with his tail. It's his signal that he want's to go out. Then he wig wailed in a circle. Which I warn people that can knock them down. Then Shat's got into it. Out they went.
So, totally love dogs. Life lover since childhood. First dog was Cindy, a purebred Rough Collie(Lassie type). Parents bred her multiple times. Loved having litters. Such joy. Cindy was such a caretaker. Rounding us up all the time. Then with the pups over several years as a child-----------OMD...fuzzy babies............

Talked with Shep-----------had great fun,.....except that she had a fall--a stupid rug. She may be mad at me for saying anything about a rug. But I'm an old nurse. RUGS that aren't attached are our nemesis.

I was on a walker for a week b/c of a stupid ankle injury. I used my Mom's old walker. It was learning experience. The golf ball things are great in a non any type loose rug situation. i.e went to Durango's. The typical entry rug will curl up with the golf balls. Never knew that. Had I known that I could have trained many in a past scenario "to lift and proceed". Neeeeever once heard anyone talk of that scenario.

She promised she made all the right notifications.

She has the most beautiful son Jade.

They interviewed a bunch of burglars about what would deter them from a house. Barking dog was at the top of the list. I wonder if you could rig up a motion-activated barking recording. We're not in shape to walk a dog that would be protection. Also too old to acquire any but an old dog.

Our lab x shepherd had that kind of tail. Seeing it start to wag was a cue to pick up your coffee cup before she knocked it over in her enthusiasm.

Hi Wren, I laugh over dogs with tails and the grabbing of cups and glasses b/c for 20 year's I had Brits. No tails. It certainally was a learning curve when Shatzi came. "Grab the glass". But she is the greatest dog. She will be with my ashes.

Dini has become this really mellow dog, from the origins of abuse. It's a beautiful thing. I know you are into recovery and care of abused animal's. It is such a beautiful thing to see them heal. The lip licking was Dini's tick. I so watched to see when it lessened. It was longer than I thought it would take. I can't say when it finally disappeared, but it is been gone for long while.

But even cuddling, Dini can only "take" it for so long. But when he came he couldn't tolerate it at all.

I have a gate at the front that is an open spaced metal thing. He can see what is out there. I let him bark to a degree. Previously he was behind a stockade fence and couldn't see.............all was fearful.

Last Holloween, as I was putting stuff away b/c I ran out of candy, I had the gate open-- no clue why. Dini started to walk with the kids. Clearly some parents were concerned. He was wagging and walking. I said "Dini come " . It was a beautiful thing to see him look at all the children and adults(who were concerned) He looked at them and me. It was a look like "Please , Mom can't I go". I said "come"

This was a dog that in December of 2012 terrified me.

well do I have a story....I woke up Wednesday with a bite on the side of my nose. Went to chemo. Not good when you might need to fight something off. Friday, noticed that the bite is spreading. And hurting. Did all the home remedies. Saturday, growing and still spreading. Went to doc Monday, she said it was bee sting. Really....attacking me when I am sleeping??. Went on antibiotics. Tuesday, still spreading and unbelievable pain. Walked into bedroom.....and there were 2 bees. Honey bees. They are no longer with us. In bee heaven:). Then to take a closer look at face....now I feel stupid...I have 4 stinger marks. Looked it up. If they feel threatened...to close to their hive...which is next to my window...you then have drones coming after you cause of pheremones left behind. Interesting. Extremely painful...but interestin

Oh, Susan, several years ago, we had bees infiltrating down from our chimney, attacking our first English bulldog. She nearly died from the reaction. But the vets saved her.

Gees, I feel for you. Get everything checked out...window screens, chimney screens, etc. You do NOT need this in your life right now!

Bee stings....creeps me out....praying for you.
