Mags, I hope your mouth heals quickly and they get your teeth to fit properly. What were they thinking?

M0mmy, what a treat to see your DN already looking between the covers of his Harry Potter book? 😁

Sas, farmers use a machine called a thrasher which literally shakes the grain seeds from the sheaths and stalks. After the grain is collected they return to cut the stems/stalks and bale them into straw. They call it straw because if you look at the cut end it actually resembles a straw that you would drink from. I set all my bales with the "straw" ends up so the straws will take the water to the center of the bale.

My DH got me a new John Deere mower on Friday. I was asked if I'd like a hat? I said yes of course! The financial officer came back with this one! I'm not sure how she knew I had BC but she did. Maybe DH mentioned it to her while he was in her office and I was looking at all the pretty green machines.

    image

Yeap, he said she had asked what type of cancer "we were fighting?" I'm glad she included Stu in the fight, he's been beside me all the way. The dealership we got the mower from had a BC fundraiser for one of their employees last month and had a few hats left over. I'll wear it to represent All of us fighting the fight! I love hats

hi all, been gone a couple of days in mini sewing retreat. Go this made, have to put the final border on. It will be the fabric in the middle row, second from bottom. It was all cut before, just had to sew. Took longer than I expected.

    image

It's finally back into the 80s and our drought is official over. It must of moved to FL. ;)

Here's Ben, now 7 mos. he already sits by himself and is crawling. I think he'll be an early walker.

    image

Sas, love the door. Will they all be like that?

Mags, good luck with the teeth. Doesn't he take awhile for them to "set" in your mouth. If you want toast, try milk toast. You'll love it or hate it!

Sheps happy to see you posting.

Lori, we need a new pic of you on your machine! Hehaw!

Mags - I am so glad to hear that your dental surgery went well and that your tongue isn't hurting as badly. I hope you are able to get used to your new dentures once the swelling goes away. Love the pic of you with your new choppers ;0)

Susan - Baily looks adorable with his new haircut. Although he does have the look of "I am so done with all this training stuff" Sorry you got stung by those bees, and I hope you're feeling much better now.

Smaarty - That quilt top is quite fascinating to look at. The colored blocks look as if they are floating above the rest of the fabrics. Wow, can't believe little Ben is 7 mos. already.

Wenchi - Your hay bale gardening is quite interesting too. Looks like a lot of work, but the pay off when you harvest is going to be delicious. J.J. is a cutie too! Any chance of getting another extra one of those John Deere hats?

Patty - Good to see you popping by. I hope you're doing well.

Sas - Beautiful door you chose. It kind of has an "Art Deco" feel to it.

Well it seems as if we might be seeing more evidence of Spring in our area this week. This weekend was very nice and we're supposed to actually get near 80 degrees 2 days this coming week. Yowsers!

My ANC did not rebound like I'd hoped during my one week off the Ibrance, so MO is having me hold it for an extra week until I have more bloodwork Wednesday or Thursday. Fatigue always an issue, but I'll not complain as I know that there are others who have far great challenges than me at this point.

Anyway I have an 11:00 a.m appt. so I'm gonna call it a night, but want to wish all of you Ladies a wonderful & Happy May Day. I remember it as the day when neighbors would pick wild flowers and put them in a small basket to hang on their neighbors doors. Apparently now May 1st is know as Anarchy Day. Such a shame to see the old & nicer traditions fall away and be forgotten.

Smaarty what beautiful work, I love the modern drop shadow effect, it is such a striking piece. Great to get away on a "sewing retreat". Love the placement of your intended border fabric in the centre also. Looking forward to seeing the completed quilt.

Mags, hope you can have a better denture experience ASAP.

Waving a sleepy good morning to Miss Feline ~ even your "real" time is too early for me!

All these never ending stupid cancer troubles...... How about a combo of pretty little baskets of flowers, a big celebration of Spring and totally wild out of control cancer anarchy? Later in the day and after a nice nap of course.

Ain't none of us deserves this chit.

Prayers for health, strength and all around wicked awesomeness for us all.

    Blessings dear friends 💟

When I was a kid, we made cones out of paper doilies and fastened them with ribbons. We would fill with flowers and hang them on the doorknob of a neighbor. It was a lot of fun.

LOVERLY, bummer. That Hyaluronic acid. Based on what I read IT should be AVOIDED by anyone with cancer. I apparently lucked out. The first full calendar year after BC. I had knee injections. This pretty well describes what was injected.

My only other experience with HA was a cosmetics skin thing that was outrageously expensive. 500$. It was from the Facial Plastic Surgeon. It was a whole skin care thing. I put the stuff in a drawer and didn't use it. It was odd. My angel just said "No" everytime I reached for it. I don't question my Angel. She doesn't talk often, but when she does. I listen.

HA is in lots of things. I guess it's just one more thing we have to read labels for.

Wenchi read something yesterday that a bacteria in dirt was found to have the same properties as some of the SSRI's. i.e. they increase Serotonin. But it didn't say how the bacteria got inside us. Ingestion or absorption through the skin. It was a lay person article so it didn't give the bacteria name. It didn't surprise me. Gardners and farmers have always had a love of dirt. Perhaps there is a symbiotic attraction or need for a dirt fix once the connection is made b/c the body senses that the well being it feels while dirting(coined word) is in the dirt.

For all the gardners here which are very many. Enjoy your dirt.

Jwooooohooo the strength of thos owl legs and talons explain why they are so formidable. whew.

Mags bummer nothing what you expected. But it is nice to not have the burning. That is such an irritation and a distraction.

Mommy, :) HP, a new generation. I still haven't been to Universal to see "Harry Potter World" Still hoping too. It's been a mega success for them and Orlando. It's the biggest draw for folks coming here.

Whenci, such love, a new tractor and a hat. Better than diamonds :)

Smarrty Love Ben he's so cute. Love the quilt too. A piece of art. All three doors are different. Not usually done that way, but I bought what I liked. I tried to pull up the other doors and couldn't find them.

JUnie I think it was you that said the door looked like it was art deco. I agree. All glistening. That one they had in stock. IT"S gorgeous. Happy door.

    Waving to everyone :)

My puzzle now is to decide, do I have Donnie and his friend do the work to save money, or pay the guy who gave me a decent bid. The whole project is ridiculously expensive. All b/c I wanted to be able to soak. But the doors are all substandard for a wheelchair. Wheelchair opening should be 36 inches. The excisting doors are 24, 27, 32. They abut the tile and floor. If the doors and flooring aren't changed now then it screws everything else. The shower and walkin tub abut each other end to end. They will have an adjoining 6 foot wall separating them. Had to do the shower or it would screw the tile of the tub and wall. If the shower was being done then it made sense to do a roll in shower. The external bedroom door and pocket door had to be removed to get the tub in. Since they are demolished, it made sense to but up something nicer than standard builder stuff since it was plain(ugly).

But the biggest lesson learned is I DID NOT negotiate or plan this right, at all. Not sure if I can fix it. Had I done this in the right sequence there's a chance health insurance would have paid a portion, and I could(can) take off some on my taxes.

Once I get done. I will write up a thingy about sequence. etc

Sas, my mom always told us to go out and play in the dirt. I think that's why most kids these days get sick so easily. Not enough dirt in their lives. The door and vanity are absolutely beautiful! As for who does the work?? That's a hard one but it'd go with the hired guys. There would be more peace between Stu and I if he wasn't involved lol

Sas, this is the door my DH and I chose for our master bedroom back in December 2015 (with Giants mascot Lou Seal and Frozen's Olaf patiently waiting for Santa Claus). The door is solid Douglas fir, and it opens out into our backyard. I love the horizontal windows. There used to be a window there, but my late father always told me it would be a good idea to put a door back there in case of a fire. (Us older folks can't climb out windows anymore, ha ha.) We had a little cement landing added, too, but the GC kinda cheaped out on it, so we're thinking about having the cement redone with a nicer pambi pebble outlined by red brick, so it will match the porch's pebble and brick work in the front of the house.

Bathroom remodels are monumental...the flooring, the vanities, the hardware, the toilets (we put one of those Japanese ones in our MB - it's great! Totally hands free; washes and dries your bum!) Only thing worse is redoing a kitchen and having to cook and wash dishes in the garage or back yard. I can't imagine going thru that with my dx now. Thank God we redid both our bathrooms and master bedroom BEFORE cancer.

Wishing you clear sailing with yours.

Waving hello to all of you lovely ladies. So many pages behind....I went back about four.  Happy May Day. We will be hitting the 90's this week!

Smarrty- glad to hear you finally were added to Flat and Fabulous.  It's a great group of women. Happy 4th Cancerversary!  Oh and Ben is adorable.

Junie- Chance says thanks for the birthday hug.  I'll post a video of him and his birthday cupcake in a bit ;).  How's Kirby doing?

WenchLori-I wish I had your green thumb.  Only thing I can grow is weeds!  JJ is a cutie. Post more pics of him ;)

Susan-Bailey is a cutie. Hope you are feeling better and don't leave us.

    PattyPepper-waving hello back

Poppy-Hope life is treating you well.

Shep-waving hello.  Good to see you again. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers

Lover-I'm sure your DD appreciates you watching out for her.

I've been doing alright myself. Had my year follow up with the breast surgeon today.  No new lumps or bumps and everything looks good. She will see me one more time in a year, otherwise I'll be followed by MO while I'm on Tamoxifen for the next 9 1/2 years.  I've settled back into work, but have a new supervisor that I'm trying to adjust to.  Looking forward to July. Treating myself to a big vacation and going to Ixtapa Mexico with a group of friends.

Waving hello to all those that I missed (I know it's many). Have a good week.

Sensi - Compared to my singing, you sound fabulous. Chancie looks like he enjoyed his treat greatly. Kirby is doing well. He's hit puberty and is trying to test his limits. I think his neutering will calm him down some. It is so funny to see the looks on the faces of the men within hearing distance when I talk about neutering Kirby to someone on the bus. Sometimes it gets real quiet. Apparently even though I'm talking about a dog, these men seem to squirm a bit themselves.

Wenchi - It would be cool beans if you can manage to get another one of those hats. I could also make a pouch to hang on my walker and maybe get someone with an embroidery machine to put the John Deere logo on that too.

Sas - The vanity is beautiful too.

Waving Hi to everyone else. It's been a long day and I am headed to bed. Here's hoping you all sleep well. Goodnight!

Hi there M0mmy! Hopefully you have it all figured out by nowNerdy

Shep Great to see you (waving)

Anyone else having trouble with the "bold" button? I had to resort to typing this in a word document and pasting it in. Neither the bold button or the bold shortcut (CTRL+B) worked within the posting window.

Edited to say - Waaaah, although I had bold type on the names in the text I pasted from Word, when I posted it the bold formatting got stripped. So much for the roundabout route!

Rain Glorious Rain. Very heavy soaking rain. I'm sure lots of folks are celebrating all over. Firemen especially.

Finally made a decision in the middle of the night. Going to have the HandyPro guy do the shower and one door. That way there is a warranty. Less worry. Weight lifted , so it must be a good decision.

HandyPro btw is a national outfit. The bonded and insured. They require certifications from franchisees. Their business plan is for the small jobs. Their web design has lot's of examples about doing disabled remodels.

Wenchi, thanks, the vanity didn't need to be bought now. Rationally, should have waited several months. BUT it was 50% off. I fell in love with something very similar in the store, not as nice and lesser quality. Even the pretty door didn't need to be bought even till next year. But I'm trying to get away with out being rational. Hahaha.

This dirt thing is kind of fun. When I studied the microbiome. the bacteria S Yanki, my abbreviation, which is found extensively in nature, has been found in breast tissue. In breast tissue that is normal it is in great supply. In breast tissue that is cancerous it is either depleted or absent near the cancer. Scientist were shocked at first. Now they're is much study being done to figure out what it means. One plausible theory is that it is protective of breast tissue, and as cancer occurs, it is somehow depleted. Was it fighting the cancer? Unknown yet. Exciting research.

Lita, so get the "egress" door. I'm an old disaster plan writer and paramedic. Worked with lots of firemen. Can't have to many egresses Hahaha. I try to explain it to Donnie re: the garage floor. If that were the egress in the dark, I will die from all the stuff blocking the way.
