hi ladies, everyone staying cool these days?  Cool

Jane, I'm not going to Summerfest this year but enjoy!

angellunch, I'm not familiar with either of those docs.

The only thing that makes this humid heat bearable are the fireflies at night.

100 forecast for Madison tomorrow - seriously?

We're headed up to Green Bay later this week to visit family then a day trip to Door County.

No, I don't know the docs either.

This heat is unreal.  we are going to be 100+ and we are within 1 mile of the lake!

Badger and pebee-thanks :) weather is almost unbearable. Not going to summerfest. I'm super lopsided with my TEs expanded to 400cc. Feel very self conscious. Can't wait for my exchange at the end of sept.

My DH just put in the air conditioner this weekend, ahhhhhh. I am sleeping downstairs now so I can feel it. It's going to be a hot one again tomorrow, and all the storms have missed us, except for tonights. I think we actually got some rain up here. I love fireworks, and usually go to 5 or mote every year. Don't think I am strong enough to try going on my own for the fourth as DH Wii be at his ailing parents. Sucks, cause I missed Pirate fest and Holidaze too. Probably have to miss Fish day fireworks too. *sigh* I really love living in Port, so many fireworks just a small drive away, between Grafton, Mequon and Cedarburg, there's always fireworks. But if I can't walk to the car in the parking lot at the grocery store, how would I walk blocks and blocks to het a good seat? So, not this year, NEXT YEAR, WATCH OUT. FIREWORKS IT'S GONNA BE!!!!

Moonflwr, yay for AC but boo for missing all the fireworks.  Next year for sure!

Walked a firecracker 5K this morning in 49:13 not bad for 90+ temps at 8 a.m.

Walked there and back so total mileage for the day is already 5.1 miles (11,000 steps).

Hometown fireworks tonight, headed to GB tomorrow.  Happy Independence Day!

Still hot, but I guess it will be better this weekend. Hope everyone is doing well. Anyone venture out to Summerfest this year? My son was DJ ING at the Refugee stage again this year. It's the smallest stage at the fest, but they all have fun. Much love to all.

hi ladies, got back into town last night.  Nice visit with family, ate well and drank some good wine.  They live right off a very pretty section of the Fox River State Recreational Trail so I got out early and walked each morning, before anyone was up.  I am the dog's new best friend.  :-)

Door County is gorgeous but very crowded over the holiday weekend.  We drove all the way to Gills Rock but didn't take the ferry to Washington Island due to time constraints.  Stopped in Penninsula State Park and hiked a bit then climbed 101 steps to the top of the observation tower.  I'd like to go back in the fall, it would be spectacular.

Back to work tomorrow.  Hope this finds everyone doing well and staying cool.  ((hugs))

    Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone is doing well, it seems we may have a break with the heat.  We spent the past two weekends camping with coming home for a break Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  I was very happy to get home today.  The heat was crazy and made me very tired.  I pretty much stayed in the camper with the A/C until dark, living on Mr. Freezies.  Today was so much better so we took a motorcycle ride to Rockville thinking they had BBQ chicken at Yoders (bike bar)  However it was last weekend, so we drove into Plattville and had a bite to eat at Culvers.  I got a little too much sun but put aloe on and it seems much better.

Back to work on the farm tomorrow.  Trying to get the cattle situated and sell some of the steers we were raising for next year.  We have to thin it out so that we can afford to buy feed for the milk cows and 23 heifers that we have coming in next month.  Sure wish we would get a little rain.  This may force us into selling and my husband and son finding a job.  Tuff times but we continue to move forward even if it is slowly.  I cant believe how BC has changed all of our lives and the dreams we once had.  I still continue to be thankfull for all I have and pray that gives me 20+ years.

Enjoy the next few days of low 90s......at least we have a break from the heat.

    Love and hugs,

    Cindi

Hey Cindi & Badger - welcome back to you both! This cooler weather is definitely a welcome relief.

I board my little colt (1 1/2 year old) out in Mukwonago ... anyway, since I'm still recooping from BMX + recon, I couldn't tolerate the heat to help him out. The other boarders spent the entire holiday week on shifts cold hosing all the horses. Was a nightmare and they are all exhausted. I am so grateful for all their help ... my poor little guy is a Gypsy Vanner horse with a long, thick mane ... he was just drenched in sweat. I got out to the barn today ... braided the little guy's mane and cooled him off a bit.  Thank goodness for these cooler evenings.

    Make it a great week!

Hello again, I am glad you hard a good time camping. I hope the horses aren't too stressed by the heat. I know it stressed me! I was glad we got the AC in last week, I've had it running constantly . Today we shut it off and actually sat outside for a while. Much love

Everyone who has had surgery and/or radiation, do be careful in the heat. Stay well hydrated and pace yourself. If you notice any swelling or feeling of heaviness, call your doctor and get evaluated. I was able to submerge myself in a friend's pool this afternoon. Hydrostatic pressure is a good thing, perhaps better than compression garments in some cases! I'm thinking about attending a Lymphedema Forum in Ohio next month - I'm sure it will be very warm there also.

Thanks for the reminder & heads up vlnrph! The heat was unbarable last week and I had a near panic attack on our boat. Nothing like being hotter than hell and not being able to jump in the lake. Thank goodness my hubby was smart and pulled over while I sat on the back of the boat, legs submerged in the cooler water. Looks like this week is much better. Been really enjoying these wonderful mornings with 65 degree walks. Now that's healing!

Badger, You are an inspiration to my walking.  I walk every day but can not get my self motivated to get on a routine.  I walk from one farm to the other which is about 1/2 a mile, and I do this 3-4 times daily.  I just told my husband that I want to get in a morning routine before school starts that way when the weather turns bad I can go to work early and walk before school starts.

I have a touch of pneamonia which makes it difficult to deep breath.  Too much of laying in front of the fan and in and out of the A/C.  Doc says there is lots of it with this hot dry weather.

Everyone, please take care and be mindful of the impact that this weather brings.

    Hugs,

    Cindi

Does anyone know of any BC events in the area?  My BCO favorite member list is growing all the time, but I sure would like to attend an event to meet some of my stage 3 sisters and along with all the others.

West of Madison.  I traveled to Madison for radiation and surgery.  I plan to attend Walk With GRACE in Richland Center again this year.  We have a 40 member team (down by 10 from last year)  The event is for ALL cancer people.

Badger,  I a mile this morning after my posting.  Now I just finished 1/4 along with barn chores.  Raked hay all day and that was depressing.  Went round and round the field and got very little.  Tomorrow we will bale it.  Sure do need the rain.  Our local station says 40% for Saturday, everything needs a drink.

I was so looking forward to lawn mowing this year after being down last year.  It has always been a favorite job of mine.  However, our lawn looks like pavement....it is so sad.

A story that I have to share for all of those that have a strong faith, and if you dont ..... well, I still want to share:

A couple of weeks ago I was on an evening walk.  Sometimes my hubby goes and at other times I just like to be alone.  When I am walking I spend lots of time praying.  Its a perfect time to reflect and be thankful and if Im not praying Im having a conversation with myself....and thats not good.  My dad always told us that it's okay to talk to yourself, BUT when you start to answer yourself then you have problems :) He's a pretty smart man.

Anyway, It had been a real good day and we worked on the farm (the whole family) just like the old days.  I was being very thankful but still asking God to take this cancer from me and keep it away.  I have so much to live for and do, and I want to grow old.  As I looked up to the sky in the west, the sun had not set yet.  The sky was full of the most beautiful puffy, wavy clouds and they were the brightest pink I had ever seen.  I take that as MY sign from God that he has taken the cancer.  I always think of that on my bad days and it really helps me get through.

Along with all the wonderful friends I have met here.

    God Bless,

    Cindi

hi ladies, no rain yet but no mosquitos either.  Strange summer so far.

My neighbor is watering his garden with a sprinkler and there are several birds who are taking full advantage and enjoying a shower.  Fun to watch.

Cindi, thanks for the inspirational story, I can almost picture it.

One thing that keeps me motivated is to wear a cheap pedometer and log all my steps - deliberate walks and also just walking around all day.  You'd be surprised how many miles you walk in a day.  It feels good to track progress, and you might as well take credit for something you're already doing.  That in turn is motivating and leads to things like getting up 30 minutes early to walk in the cool quiet morning air.

Moonflwr, I haven't been to any of their retreats but it was Breast Cancer Recovery that got me into yoga.  Two years ago, they got a grant from Komen Madison and brought in a yoga teacher from NYC.  I went and was hooked!  What an excellent group experience!  Signed up for a lunchtime yoga class offered at a discounted rate through employee wellness program.  Looked for classes near home because Madison is just too expensive.  Bought a couple of DVD's and practice at home but I like going to a class for the sociability and so a teacher can show me new things and watch me to make sure I'm doing the poses correctly.

Going to a BBQ tomorrow then maybe Art Fair on the Square Sunday.  Have a good weekend!

Looks like rain is on the way.............ssshhhh, lets not say too much so we dont scare it away.  I got out my pedometer that I had a few years back.  Naturally it didnt work, going to WM to pick one up.  I know when I use to wear it I was amazed of how many steps I put on.  Wish the weight would come off like that.

Kind of fell off the healthy wagon the last few days.  Spent lots of time at the home farm where my MIL feels that you have to have meat, potatoes/gravy and ice cream, cake or cookies at every meal.  I have lost 10 pounds since I started tamoxifen which I think is good since most say how they put on weight.

Four walks at 1/4 each today.  Just cant go far in this heat especially without the inhaler.  Now my hubby thinks we should have popcorn before we go to bed.  Rrrrr, my will power is zero today.

Thanks for the web information.  Hope everyone has an awesome weekend.  Class reunion tomorrow.  Was planning on this being the year of the "new" look.  Ya know, weight loss, new cloths, and hair style, the whole bit.

    Well: weight loss=10 pounds

new outfit=prosthesis and bra (yes, I bought an outfit also)

hair style=well......just let someone say something about the grey.

I guess I better work on my attitude before I go     OR        NOT

What a beautiful rain we received here in southwest Wisconsin.  Hope it does it all day.  Have been up since 3:30 am.  The racoons were in the barn again and made such a mess  They find this great need to dig through all the grain and anything else they can find.

Badger, did you get your walk in this morning?  Hope everyone else is seeing some rain today.

    Enjoy,

    Cindi

hey Cindi, I haven't gone out yet but will soon.  Overcast here but no rain yet.  Glad for you, tho!

I hope you go today and have a good time.  Hold your (grey) head high!  I don't color my hair and love it.  Mostly gray but darker around the nape of my neck.  Short and sassy, easy to manage, just a cut every 5-6 weeks.

I will see many people at the BBQ today who haven't seen me for years.  It's inevitable that they'll be curious about my new look.  I'll tell whomever asks me, it's no secret.  Endure the OMG you poor thing, then reassure them that I'm all right.  Doing well.  A little fluffy (thank you tamox) but working on that.  Aren't we all?  LOL

When I get a late-night snack attack, I like those 100-calorie bags of popcorn.  I know microwave popcorn isn't the healthiest choice so I don't eat it often.  But good to have around when ya just gotta have something crunchy.

Take care ladies, and send that rain a little more to the south & west!  ((hugs))

Wow was it a hot one today.  After milking tonight my hubby and I rode the motorcycle to a local beach to cool off.  It was wonderful and water exercise is suppose to be so good for you (not that I did much)

Badger, you would be so proud of me.  Got up and walked 1.5 miles and when we got home from the beach I did another 1.5 miles.

Stay cool tomorrow, its suppose to be another hot one
