Attawoman Cindi!  I got up and out this morning myself.  Crazy hot yesterday and same for today.

Went to Art Fair on the Square Sunday in Madison with DH.  My first stop was Sacred Feather on State Street to buy a hat.  Instant shade!  We walked all around the Capitol square looking at beautiful works of art by sculpters, glassblowers, painters, weavers, photographers, woodworkers etc. etc. from all over the country.  Came home and crashed, we were so wiped out from the heat.

Headed to Chicago Thursday for a girls weekend with some BCO sisters.  Stay cool everyone!

Good morning, everyone.  It's 7 a.m. and 78 degrees and while Badger and Cindy chalk up the miles walking, I am outdoors trying to water my garden and flowers to keep ahead of the drought--so far so good but things are not thriving --just hanging in there. We had rain Fri. the 13th, just a sprinkle--not enough to show up in the rain gauge. The previous Friday we joined our DS and fam. at their newly purchased cottage on Long Lake--got there , settled in and were thrilled to have a thunderstorm come up--it was pure heaven to see the rain.   Next day, perfect weather.  The 4 grandkids are thrilled beyond measure.  We have vacationed at Long Lake for 40 years, and also near Boulder Junction and Trout Lake--our 2 favorite lakes. Anyone else go there? Badger, I love the Square and all that is offered there.  Miss all of that.  Hope everyone is doing well, and keeping  ahead of the fall out from BC treatments aftermath.  Hugs to all--going out now to do a rain dance.  Hugs and love to all.

So good to hear from you all! I'm glad to hear everyone is surviving the heat & doing their best to get outside for our little walks.

I was at my PS yesterday for a fill up and got the all clear & removal of excersise restrictions. Went out for my morning walk today & was able to run 3 of the 4 miles I ususally walk. I felt great!!!

Looking forward to some possible rain this evening & a lovely 80 degree day tomorrow.

    Hugs to you all!

I have found that the NO rain situation is giving me a rest or break from thinking about BC.  Its funny how when you have other things to focus on you are able to forget about all the little aches and pains.  I just have to remind myself that I would have those aches and pains just with age.

Say, what is this about running?  REALLY? My3sunz42, how do you do it?  How young are you?  I think badger may run also.  I would love to and tried it a few years back and found that I cant do it without peeing myselfTongue out  So I am better off staying with the walk.

Got an idea!  Lets see who can find the longest survivor in Wisconsin.  Encourage them to visit us here at BCO........just a thought.

Take care and be mindfull of the heat and humidity.  Love to all

Cindi - Call me crazy or still young at heart (I'm 45), but I've been running for the past 7 years. I've grown quite fond of it and find it very therapeutic - even though sometimes I fight myself about getting out of bed & hitting the streets:-)  Regarding peeing yourself - I too have that issue - remember, I'm a mom of 3 boys - black running shorts do the trick :-) I call it 'sweat' :-)

    Enjoy your day ladies!

3sunz--hehehe--sweat!! Last summer, before BC, my fam.doc referred me to occupational therapy for the "sweating" condition, which I never got around to doing as all hell broke loose last summer and is just now settling down (DH with multiple health probs and surgs and a son going through a divorce)  Maybe now I can pursue that (5 kids--no way avoiding the prob.)  No running for me .   Cindi, so true to have this dry spell to distract from other circumstances. As for long time survivors, there are many.  Have several friends 30 years plus--with no residual probs once they recovered from all the rx--and worked through it all. No diet changes, no meds, no searching for alt. rx etc,--a different world now.     Moonflwr, 100 here, big cloudsNW--one can hope.  I am a bit weary of watering, but happy to have our own well-or things would have to shrivel.  Hang on, all--it can't last forever--just hope the relief doeesn't come in the form of a knock-out storm.  Hugs all around.

95 here, maybe it won't get up to 100 , be ok with me! I wish I could run, but because of really bad knees, haven't been able to run for years. I can barely walk some days, but I force myself. I don't know how I will get back to work, I have been getting stronger and am going to chemo rehab to try to get at least to the level I can work. I will need surgery on them, and was actually scheduling that surgery when this stuff came up. Oh well what happens will happen, and that I can't change. You all take care! Stay cool. Much love

Up to 2.5 miles this morning and even ran part way.  Okay!  I have officially decided that the running thing is not for me, however the dog had a great time as all the traffic.  Thank goodness we are on a country rode.

Badger, wishing you a safe and relaxing trip to Chicago.  Not that I travel much (or never) but the one time I went to Chicago, I had a great time.  Even though I was chaperoning 40 high school students on a student council trip  We went to this cool place all about jazz, blues and the recession.  Eat/show, it was very educational in a fun learning way.

I know there are so many long term survivors out there as I know many myself.  Just hearing their success stories helps manage the ruff days.  Does anyone know how to bump up a forum?  My computer skills are not the best.  I would like to see the stage 3 long term one bumped up.  I was also wondering if anyone knew of a thread for positive node involvement.

    Enjoy your day

    hi ladies - 'sweat' LOL!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Cindi, but I don't run, I just walk.  But I walk a lot!

Logged 5.6 miles today (11,853 steps) including a morning walk, a noontime shopping excursion down State Street, and a stop for last-minute items at K-Mart.  Yoga class at 5:30 tonight, then home to eat supper, finish laundry and pack.

To bump up a thread, simply post to it.  Then it goes to the top of active topics.

The search feature works well on BCO.  That should help you locate node-positive threads.

My mom is the longest-term BC survivor I know.  30+ years now and doing well for an 80 YO!

Thanks for the well-wishes!  It will be HOT but we will be COOL, Cool even if we're sweating. Wink

See y'all in a few days.  ((hugs))

windy, windy, windy   Now not only is the corn dried up but the wind has put it down.  We will see what tomorrow brings.  I think we are going to get another shower shortly west of Madison.

Stay cool the next couple of days.

    Love and hugs

Go figure it rained & stormed ... my eldest son (18 years old) left yesterday to camp out for "Country Thunder" music festival. When last I heard from him, they were running around the camp ground in their swim suits raising a little hell. Oh, to be 18 again ... I'm so jealous!

Heading to go see my little colt this morning ... he's a 1 1/2 year old Gypsy Vanner Gelding named Valentino (I call him Tino). I'm pretty certain he'll be in a better mood given the rain & cooler temperatures.

Make it a great day ladies ... perhaps a little more rain :-)

hi ladies and welcome greenacres.  Cindi, how's the corn?

Had a wonderful time in Chicago!  Thurs was elegant supper in a nice restaurant then live musical theater - Rock of Ages.  Has anyone seen the movie?  Fri was CTA bus #22 to Chicago History Museum and Graceland Cemetary (had perfect weather to walk around the grounds) then took an architecture river tour, then had classic Chicago deep-dish pizza.

Sat was free summer workout on the great lawn of Millennium Park.  We did tai chi at 7, yoga at 8, pilates at 9, and zumba at 10.  Got cleaned up and took a water taxi to Navy Pier where we had a lovely sail on the Tall Ship Windy.  Then we headed to Greek Town for supper with Adey, Corinne and Lago.

We walked A LOT.  Logged 19.75 miles on the pedometer (41,800 steps) for the weekend.

We had a blast and are already talking about next year.  So good to meet IRL!  ((hugs)) to all

Got back from an unexpected trip to Mosinee today. My 90 year old godmother passed away late last week, and funeral was today. My oldest brother drove and I caught a ride, so did another brother. My two sisters made it too. She was my dad's last sibling, so its kind of sad, but she had a good life. But over six hours in a car was a lot for me. I am tired! I could not have driven it by myself. Hope everyone on the board is doing well.

    @bluewillowsky and cheeseheads.....

For some reason I had my beloved Steuben, WI and Gays Mills on my mind. I know they moved GM after the flood. Sometimes I wonder when or if I will make it back to that corner of the state, my friends are all in the Green Bay area. I joke about wanting to be burried in Steuben. It's my happy place in my mind.

    On Wisconsin,

(have some fried curds for me!)

good morning ladies, I'm up very early and having a cup of coffee then will head out for a walk while it's still cool.

Cookie, Steuben is in my neck of the woods!  Haven't been to GM since it relocated but used to go there every fall for apples.  Let me know if you ever come back to visit and I'll drive up to meet you.

Hope this finds everyone well.  ((hugs)) to all

Badger...that is so cool! I love the hills and farms and towns. I used to do the fall canoe trip till they stopped it. We would stop by GM for applefest. I was brokenhearted they were flooded.

Good Morning Ladies, and what a beautiful morning it is!  Have been busy cleaning up trees and debris from last weeks storm.  Never have I seen it so bad and my hubby was willing to go to the basement so I knew that it was bad.  He is more for watching the storm than sitting downstairs.  Im still unable to open my west windows as the wind blew so hard that it made them pressurize themselves.  Our neighbors lost barn of a shed roof and the scarey part is that the rafters were thrown towards the house leaving 4-5 feet of the stuck through the garage wall like spears.

Badger and Cookiegal, Went to GM for many years.  My grandmother use to live on the ridge so we spent much time in the area.  Then she moved to town and lived behind the Red Apple Inn.  It was a yearly event to gather for the parade and festivities.  She passed away several years ago along with grandpa.  Since then my uncle who was on the farm also passed, so most of the immediate family is gone from the area.  We still make bike trips occationally just to see how things have changed.  I have family that ownes Rolling Ground Tavern so we stop there for a bite to eat.  Just thinking about it makes me want to do a trip.  Ya know, it is amazing to think that we probably passed each other several times or sat next to each other at the parade.  Who would have thought that our paths would lead us where we are today?

Steuben.....Well, we always said "lets be stupid in Steuben" and that always lead to a rode trip.  However, my party days have slowed a great deal and now Im the DD.  It is okay with me as long as Im here for the fun and living.

Hoping everyone has an awesome week!  Stay strong

hey ladies, popping in to say hi.

Cindi, it was beautiful yesterday morning.  I got out for a short walk then the rain came.  Had a lovely soft rain much of the day.  Got out for a nice long walk after supper.

Saturday, I walked to the local farmers market.  For five bucks, I got a pound of green beans, a sprig of fresh basil, and a pound of wonderful ripe tomatoes fresh from the vine.  Supper was a caprese pasta salad, with tomatoes, chiffonade of basil and bits of mozzerella.  YUM!

This weekend, DH and I went to the movies to see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel."  Really nice film, see it if you get the chance.

    Take care everyone!

Soldier's Grove was essentially rebuilt after the big flood, in about 1978. Then there was the Barneveld tornado...

I am growing tomatoes in pots on the deck this year - one plant succumbed to the heat early on, another bore 2 fruits and is now just sitting there, the 3rd has several green ones that don't seem to want to ripen as well as quite a few blossoms. The corn situation is really sad.

People I've never met before say to me "What I would do to have your hair! Is it natural or a perm?" (Happened twice at the pool/gym this morning). I have to tell them it's chemo curls and no, they don't want to do what I did to get it.

my garden is officially dead - i have some tomato plants that are limping along.  Not much hope.  The cucumbers are multiplying, but the cabbage refuses to come to a head.  The lettuce never made it out of the ground.

the hot peppers were fruitful and multiplied.  I am looking at over 10 pounds of fiery hot peppers.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Here's to next year.  May it be better than this year.
