Long time no chat !  My life has been incredibly hectic so havent been here even to lurk. Moms thryroid cancer was removed but it damage the muscles for speaking so she barely has a whisper now. She had radiation therapy. Has upcoming PET scans...hopefully they will consider her treatment successful....she isnt very hopeful about it though since this cancer is genetic in our family and aggressive. I have been busy rebuilding an old relationship and adopted 2 new chihuahuas this week...we now have five total. I love them like potato chips ! Speaking of food, i started a new "healthy eating plan this month....not gonna call it a diet but hopefully it will pay off and i can lose some of this tamoxifen weight gain. My daughter's boyfriend moved in....oy vey ! Now there three twenty somethings with no drivers licenses living here to chauffer . I dont want my own two kids to move out, but my daughter and the boyfriend in law plan to in September.  Other than still battling pain from my tamoxifen my health has been good....except for now needing bifocals....another oy vey for that one.... thats what I have been up to....hope everyone here is doing well and its so nice to see this thread I started took off like a rocket.....i wish i had more time to get online regular. Our Walk with Grace event is on Friday...i dont have a team this year, but i will have another yard sale to donate proceeds from and also go to the walk.

hey Lisa, good to see ya!  Fingers crossed for your mom's upcoming PET scan.

I was thinking about heading up to RC for the GRACE walk but no can do.  Getting my car worked on Sat and dropping it off Fri.  Good luck with the garage sale, it's nice of you to do that.  Should be a good weather weekend for it.  If memory serves, last year it was hot & humid.

Monica, I'm not all that energetic which is why I walk instead of doing something more strenuous.

"I'm built for comfort not for speed."  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Innocent

Right now, I'm watching "Pal Joey" on Turner Classic Movies.  Will take a walk around the block when it's done in 15 mins.  Have a good night everyone!

What an awesome night last night for Walk With GRACE. I met so many wonderful people that are fighting all forms of cancer. It is sad to say that over 1/2 of those in the survival group are batteling BC.  That is many many women.

The Ambassadors were terrific offering strength, courage and hope.  At the close of the evening there had been $212,000 collected.  The final count will be done later in the month.  A certain % is given to the Richland Center Hosp, Gunderson Luthern in LaCrosse and UWMadison.  The remainder of the $ stay locally and is used for those that are in treatment and such to help pay bills, gas, groceries or whatever else may be needed.

Now I have to take a nap, so wishing everyone a great weekend.

    Cindi

That is great Cindy. I am glad you got to do that. Rest now!

I went to a cousins funeral today and I am tired. She was a cousin, but we called her an Aunt because she was so much.older than us when we were growing up. And of course, her kids, were called cousins, even though they were second cousins. Big families!

Good news from the Richland Center event: Bluewillowskys, look what happened since you began this thread (21 pages of Wisconsin messages)!

Badger, we were also watching Ol' Blue Eyes, Kim Novak, etc. and hearing the great classic songs "Funny Valentine"...

Leaving tomorrow for the Lymphedema Summit meeting in Ohio this week so may not get back on line for a few days.

Good luck tomorrow, Monica!  Will be sending good thoughts your way.

Thanks Cindi for news about Walk with GRACE, 212K is great, congrats!

I read in today's WI State Journal that Ann Greenheck's husband Albert passed Friday.  Memorials to GRACE or the Lone Rock EMS.  ((Ann & family))

Safe travels, Mary!  How fun that we were enjoying the same movie Weds.

Anyone catch the meteor showers last night?

Overcast and cool this morning, bad for shooting stars but good for hiking.

Take care ladies, ((hugs)) to all

Thanks for the good wishes! Travel to Ohio was fine (although we drove back via interstate 39 in order to come north, wanting to avoid Chicago's rush hour). The full conference report is on the lymphedema thread, if anyone is interested.

The Dirty Girl Mud Run was here at the Expo Center yesterday: I had not paid any attention to it before but have a co-worker who was planning on doing it. Milwaukee Journal photo shows that they sure named the event correctly. A nice walk would be MUCH cleaner...

Moonflower, was your surgery OK last week?

DIEP flap is five hours away with Dr. Kinney in Milwaukee! You ladies would understand why I am not sleeping. I had a three page list of things to do around the house, errands to run, etc. I am just about done! I am very much looking forward to this last stage of getting through this.

J-Bug, you're probably out of surgery by now so belated best wishes!

    Monica, hope you're recovering apace.

Mary, I saw those Dirty Girl Mud Run pix on JSonline and it looked like FUN!

FYI: WI Historical Society has a two-for-one coupon for 11 historical sites in August.

Saturday we went hiking in Wyalusing State Park then toured the buildings & grounds at Villa Louis (fur traders) in Prairie du Chien.  Sunday we toured Pendarvis (lead & zinc miners) in Mineral Point, amazing stone buildings from the 1830's.

Such a good deal, thinking we should take advantage again this weekend.  Take care ladies!

hi ladies!  Cindi, was that the Gandy Dancer festival in Mazo?  I heard about it on WPR, sounded like fun.  Sorry, no idea about freezing broccoli.

Been eating lots of BLTs with ripe tomatoes, fresh lettuce & local bacon.  Gotta love summer!

Went to the "Offering of the Angels" exhibit at the Chazen yesterday.  AMAZING.  See it if you can.  45 rarely-seen master works from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.  43 paintings and 2 tapestries.  The tapestries are 500 years old!  Also had an interesting display on the steps they took to restore a gorgeous painting by Titian.

Hi Ladies! Thank you for the well wishes. Surgery was on Wednesday and I should still be here for a couple more days. Today I got rid of my epiderul, oxygen, and catheter. I am getting blisters all over and skin torn up from my adhesive sensitivites. I told them, but there are so many people on these teams. I ended up with a yeast infection and sore and open wounds across my butt. They thought that maybe I had been sitting on some wrinkles or my skin was breaking down from being in bed so long. However, I look very feminine now. I have some very solid round perky breasts.

Okay, back to bed. This is too much!

congrats J-Bug!  Hope the recovery gets better so you can enjoy the new girls.

pebee, you are bringing back memories of canning with my mom: stewed tomatoes, corn off the cob, green beans with garlic & dill, bread & butter pickles, strawberry jam, homemade applesauce.

It's a lot of work but when you're done you have rows of Ball jars sparkling like jewels.  Opening one mid-winter summons the summer sunshine.

Good thing to do on a rainy day.

We have a cucumber & home grown tomato waiting in the kitchen for tonight's dinner salad.

After raining all afternoon, I just realized that we have not reconnected one of the down spouts. (Not complaining however!)

    J-Bug: standing up straight yet?

Hi everyone--not much time to post and have been MIAposting for some time now, but just wanted to comment on freezing brocolli------wash , cut off ends and any  parts you don't wish to use.  Cut into medium pieces 5-6 incnes long (or your choice of length but no longer than  6 in.  Cut pieces not thicker than 1&1/2  inches.  Have ready a big pot of boiling water--drop the brocolli  pieces into the boiling water and boil for 3 minutes only.  Immediately put the  pieces into cold  water (I add ice), chill for 3 min, drain well adn place in freezer container of your choice(I use freezer bags).  I also cut the pices no larger than 1 inch.  When ready to use it, it doesn't take much more cooking, depending on how you want to serve it.  Good luck--it is pretty easy, and tastes so much better than purchased frozen.  Homegrown veggies are really the best.  Tomorrow I'll be freezind ng and canning some tomatoes and freezing peppers and tomatoes.  Tuesday, off to the hospital again for another esophogeal dilation for DH--plus another biopsy--anyone else tired of running to the hospital?  Managed to keep the garden and flowers alive during the drought by watering every single day, and with all else gthat goes on, seems that took up my summer.  Sending best wishes to all --know many are having ongoing stuff and I hope for best possible outcomes.  Love to all--wouldn't it be fun to meet sometime?

Oops! This fell off my favorite list, sorry I've been missing. Vrnrph kindly checked up on me and told me to get my a** over here! LOL. Hello to the new ones, I will learn your names soon! My TE surgery went well, waiting to heal. I had a drain for almost two weeks, but I needed it. When they took it out, i leaked fluid for a couple of days, today I was able to go to a bandaid. My.husband got stuck changing out the dressing cause its under my elbow, and so hard to reach. My PS took away my side boobage on that side too, that's why the drain. It also means my incision is almost 24 inches long. Hope that wasn't TMI, LOL.

My tomato plant had three tomatos, one was ripe, but the chiomunks beat me to it! I was so mad. It wad in front of the hole half eaten. I only have the one plant, cause I couldn't afford the effort this year. Oh well, at least someone enjoyed the tomato. LOL. Much love to all.
