Yeah, that's funny. Not the way to get curls! I was kinda hoping for curls, but it seems to be coming in straight for me. Oh well. My 2 tomatoes are green on the one plant I have. I didn't think I could keep up with More. I am sad about the corn too.

I have a question for you ladies. Can you offer any suggestions? I am looking for a playground that has the older style equipment, steel structures, bouncy toys, etc. I am just north of West Bend, but I could drive a little for this. I go into Milwaukee all the time. I was at Children's Hosp today. I am trying to find this in the next day or two for a photo shoot for a graduate school class that I am taking. I really don't want to use the ones with the big plastic structures.

Our corn doesn't look like it is going anywhere either. We have quite a few tomato plants with green tomatoes. The only thing that seems to be working is zucchini and watermelon and maybe some pumpkins will be on the way.

The lady at the farmers market said her tomatoes just sat there and sat there (green), until all of a sudden they ripened last Friday.  She picked them Sat which is when I bought them.  So delicious!  We have black walnut trees which are extremely toxic to tomatoes so we don't even try growing them ourselves.

For those hot peppers, pebee, there's always salsa but how about jalapeno chutney?  Google it, there are lots of recipes on-line.

We have plenty of archaic playground equipment around here but that's a longer drive than you might want to make, J-Bug.

    Take care ladies!

J-Bug - Thiensville has a park with the good ole metal slide and swings that seem to sail to the moon :-)

Great storms last night ... unfortunately I left our umbrella up and it fell victim to the wind along with a couple of ripe tomatos from my potted plant ... oh well, we need the rain.

    Enjoy your day all!

For Pebee -- this is a recipe that has been in my family for years and years...and years. My neice and her fiance love these so much they even put them on pizza -- those darned younger stomachs!  I make them and put them in smaller jars to share -- even the jelly jars.  This is good on any type of beef, even hot dogs -- just use your imagination!  If you make any, pleae let me know how you like it.

Peppers in Oil (Mom, July 1978)

    (For quart jars)

3/8 inches of corn oil into jars

    1 ½ t salt

Add peppers & garlic to taste (I chop the peppers into little squares, probably more than 1/4 inch but not larger than 1/2 inch but it is all up to you -- any way will work.)

1 part water to 3 parts vinegar, Boil vinegar and water, add boiling water to jars

    Put lids on

Hot water bath for 15 minutes

Thank you my3sunz42! What is the name of the park? Keep the suggestions coming if anyone else has any more.

I will have to post the final photo when done. I have been having a lot of fun getting to know WI this summer through this class. We moved here in 2008, but have had too much going on to site-see much.

Hi ladies!  I'm Racquel and live in Sun Prairie (born and raised) but moving to Madison in a couple of months.  I was DX'd 05/09, BMX 06/06 with TE's placed then reconstruction with silicone the following February.  I have now made the decision to have them removed.  Thankfully I married a wonderful man in June and he is 100% supportive.  Just could really use others to talk to because nobody understands.

hi Racquel, I'm in the southwest part of the state but commute to Madison for work.

I've gone flat since BMX in Feb 2010 but I know that's different than your situation.  Removing your implants was likely a hard decision.  Hopefully, it gets easier now that you have a plan.

I'm also happily married and commend our husbands for being grown men who can deal with it.

Supper's almost ready so I have to go but wanted to say hi and give you a ((hug)).

Thank you Pinky- they are the little hot peppers so I think a rinse will work - no chopping.

    And welcome Raquel.

Welcome Raquel. Once a decision is made its better. Then its just the hard wait as you just want to get it done. So don't stress too much.

    Hi Ladies:

Just back from my one-year post chemo visit and am bouncing back and forth between being calm and scared out of my mind - MO wants to see me in a month because of a hard area at my incision site. He thinks its just scar tissue but wants to be safe. I really appreciate that but all of a sudden I'm transported back to April 2011 and reminding myself that I need to take things one step at a time and not to panic (yet!). Because I had TNBC, I know there will be times when something suspicious will be found that turns out to be nothing but I was hoping for a little more than a year!

Thanks for letting me vent! One day at a time -- always.

hi Kristin, sending calming thoughts your way and hoping it's nothing serious!

Farmers Market opens at 7 and I plan to walk down there and get some tomatoes.

Maybe some fresh berries too, just have to see what's available this morning.

We could try to get together sometime. Madison sounds pretty Doable to most on this board. Anyone up for a nite out? Well, probably an afternoon on a weekend . Just tossing it out there.

Moonflwr, I'd be up for it.  Brunch/lunch, movie matinee, theater or concert, etc.

Nothing too expensive, though, I'm pinching my pennies these days.

Cindi, we live pretty close, I could pick you up and we could carpool.

I'd like to see the Milwaukee Art Museum sometime, the one with the wings.

Thunderstorms rolled through a while ago and cooled & cleansed the air.  Nice!

Hubby & I commute to jobs in Madison: he got some nice bi-color sweet corn at the Farmer's Market on the Capitol Square last Wednesday. It was grown in Randolph which has escaped the drought conditions. We tried two new places for dinner at the end of July during restaurant week.

I don't make the trip every day but could catch up to some of you after work (too busy to get away over lunch).

Milwaukee art museum is great, so is the regular museum. my son lives in Madison, so I don't mind going there. Also, Johnson Creek or Oshcosh malls are fun too. My sister and two brothers live in Randolph. vnrlph, where do you live to commute to Madison? Nearer to Milwaukee?

Yes, Waukesha is just west of Milwaukee. We used to live & were married in Madison.

My sister from Ohio will be in town next week with her daughters and will probably see the French exhibit at the Calatrava since both girls have spent time in Paris. We were members of the public museum in 2011 but never had time to go there!

Gottalov, was just in Mosinee last week for a funeral. My inlaws live in Plainfield. I haven't been up there in a while, couldn't handle the trip , and after the funeral, (my brother drove) I just about collapsed. We didn't stop in to see the inlaws even though it was on the way home. But getting better, and after my surgery on the 13th, I will probably try to get up there.

It's a gorgeous 65 degrees and I'm headed out for a walk soon as I finish my coffee.

I've visited lots of places as a tourist but feel I've neglected Wisconsin.  Just took a tour of the state Capitol last year and I've worked downtown for years.  There are so many neat things to do here.  For example, I'd like to visit the Chazen Museum of Art.  One of these days I'll walk up to the Kohl Center to see the Dale Chihuly art glass sculpture called The Mendota Wall.  Heck, there's a mining museum near here that I should visit.

Anyone up for a free Concert on the Square?  Old World Wisconsin?  (there's a coupon on their website for one free adult admission in the month of August)  Hiking in a state park?  Milwaukee Public Museum?  Discovery World?  Cave of the Mounds?  I'm up for most anything, including just hanging out at a restaurant and having a meal.

Mary, could you do something on a weekend or strictly M-F?  Have a good day ladies!

Once again, Wisconsin makes national news (and not in a good way).

I don't mind driving and have been known to go with my hubby to Madison on one of my days off - usually later in the year to do some Christmas shopping. We could add Taliesin in Spring Green to Badger's list, although the house & ground tours are somewhat expensive; here in Genesee Depot, we have the Ten Chimneys historic home.

Always enjoyed the Woodson properties in Wausau when we lived there. Dells of the Eau Claire are scenic, also Rib Mountain. Played for weddings at both locations back in the '90s.

ooh Ten Chimneys!  Reminds me to put Villa Louis in Prairie du Chien on the list.

Adding my thoughts & prayers for the victims and their families & friends in Oak Creek.

    Hey Ladies,

Sounds like everyone has been so very busy.  I would love to join you gals on an outing but find myself overwhelmed with activity.

Badger, I am proud to say that your idea of the pedometer was shoking.  Had it on from the time I got up (4am) til now.  I put on 13 miles today and that was just farming.  Needless to say there was NO exercise involved today.

Spring Green and the Taliesen offers lots of history.  My sister used to be a visiting health care provider for 2 of the ladies living in the Arts building.  I think that one has passed and the other is in a facility (but I could be wrong)  She now has a cleaning business and she has Aldebaron (home where Frank Lloyd Wright) grew up.  We take a sister weekend there every winter-early spring.  Drink, Eat, Games, Stories, Memories and a little sleep.    Sooooooo relaxing.

Anyway, I have 3 weeks left of my summer vacation and as always it slips by without allowing me to do the things I hope and dream of.  I guess there is always next year.  Walk With Grace (large cancer fund raising event in Richland Center) is Friday.  I will be taking part again this year (going to wear the pedometer)  Our team raised $4000 NOW.... put the cure out there to share with all my sisters.

My son and GF are busy planning their wedding for next August which I am very active in helping with and they just told us yesterday that she is 5 1/2 weeks pregnant.  i am so happy that I can hardly control myself. So BUSY, BUSY, BUSY

PLEASE allow me to opt out at this time but know that I would love to spend some time with all of you.

    So many hugs and love

    Cindy

Congrats Cindi on impending grandmotherhood!  And good luck Friday at the GRACE walk.  What a great cause.  All of the money stays local.

I'm a firm believer in taking credit for what I'm already doing, which is why I wear my pedometer all day long and log all my daily steps, deliberate walking as well as just walking around.  My pedometer switched itself from miles to kilometers but I'm OK with that because it looks like I've walked more than I really have.  For example, 8 km today = 4.97 miles but at 13 miles you left me in the dust!

Ok, you both left me in the dust! I went to my doctor appt, then visited my coworkers, stopped and did a bit of grocery shopping, came home and couldn't move. Got the frozen and refridgerated stuff put away, and sat Down , got up only to eat supper two hours later. Where do you get the energy? Sitting in the dust, Moonflwr. (Monica)

Badger,  I will never be able to walk to extra miles that you do as "enjoyed steps"  Im just too tired at the end of the day.  Once Im back at work however, I will have to get up early to take a walk.  It is only because of being on the farm that I get so many extra miles.

Time will tell.  Being a grandmother is going to be so awesome and couldnt have come at a better time.  Having a baby around always makes me turn to mush.  My goals have been moved up to seeing my grandchildren graduate.  I love the long term goals as it keeps me going every day.

Funny how I never gave it much thought before.  I take it as a wake up call.

Hoping everyone is well.  Just think.....Chirstmas is 4 1/2 months away.  Cant wait to go sleigh riding:)

    Hugs,

    Cindi
