Machine shed, I could take either 45 or 43. Depending on time of day, I might even prefer 45! LOL, but ill probably pick it up off Mequon Rd.

Sounds like we have a place, now we need a date & time.
Glorious fall day here, got out for a lovely walk this morning.
Supper tonight is mac & cheese and warm apple crisp w/vanilla ice cream.
May need another walk afterwards! Have a good night all. ((hugs))

We were talking about a weekend afternoon, right? How about Nov. 3rd, 3:00pm at the Machine Shed?
I'm going to have to have tea this time...LOL anyone know the address?0 -
Cancel November 3rd!! Ah! My bad...pretty much any other day but that one! LOL

LOL! I have no commitments except doc appts, so pick a day that suits most of you who have to work. I should be able to make it. Much love.

Sorry fuzzy, I didn't think about the Machine Shed not having a liquor license and being able to serve cocktails! I was mostly concerned about being close to the highway and having room for at least 5 or 6 of us. Too bad 11/3 won't work: 3pm on the third would have been easy to remember. Is Sunday the 4th a possibility?

Son is play off eligible - Woo Hoo! bad news, not sure when playoffs will be. But, plan and I will try to make it.
For the Machine Shed - I have been to the Iowa version. Good food but a bit crowded for breakfast = say before 11am. Lunch and dinner were nothing special - good but not noteworthy. However as it is right off the highway...
The Public Market is downtown. There is a wine bar and plenty of room upstairs to meet.
I haven't been out to eat in Milwaukee in a while, there are a couple of cute places in downtown Waukesha, but that is a nightmare to park.

Tons of places on bluemond, around Mayfair, Hartford exit. I think there is a fondue place too, although that's expensive, but fun for a group. We can look up places, any preferences on type of food. There is a Chinese place that still makes pineapple chicken in the pineapple shell! LOL let's get ideas on type of food, then we can find a place. Much love

Sun the 4th works for me. Public Market looks intriguing, in a good way.

However, a liquor license is secondary to the gathering. And a great cup of coffee!
So the Machine Shed is still OK with me if that's the will of the group.

I have been to the public market lots of time - think of it as an upscale mall food court. There is a great seafood booth, a salad booth, a mexican booth, and another booth that has sandwiches and dip type stuff. There is a wine bar, a coffee bar, and a bakery. I believe there should be a new deli and then there is a chocolate, cheese, spice, and grocery type place.
We would not be able to make reservations - and going on the assumption that everyone would want something different, we would have to sit upstairs and then go to the booth we want and get our meal. Sunday is fine - if there is a playoff game, I won't make it.

Hey, Madison & Dane County ladies - Breast Cancer Recovery is having their annual autumn conference on Saturday, November 10th at the American Family Insurance complex near Sun Prairie. It looks like an excellent program and early registration is only $25 (includes lunch). This is the group founded by Ann Haney. Milwaukee has ABCD started by Melodie Wilson: both were amazing, dynamic women now deceased.
BCR sponsors retreats, some especially for those with metatstatic disease. Their logo is a purple star in case you're getting tired of pink ribbons. I would consider making the drive but might have a rehearsal that afternoon.
For our next get together, the Public Market is fun AND you can get specialty items to take home. It's true that the Machine Shed can be crowded at peak meal times. However, I do like their gift shop and have a wig story from last year I can share...
My hubby still can't navigate downtown Waukesha's one way streets around the river even though we have lived here almost 10 years. He did upload pictures taken at the Great Dane. I will try to PM them to the "famous 4" who were there!

Mary, I got the flyer for the BCR "Sharing the Knowledge" conf. Nov 10 but hadn't opened it so thanks for the reminder. Just did and there are some good topics. I'd choose AM: Nutrition 101 and PM: Survivor Yoga. Anyone thinking of going? Early reg. ends Oct 20.
Never did one of their retreats, but BCR had a Yoga for BC Survivors workshop two (?) years ago that was my first yoga experience. But not my last, in fact I was at yoga class tonight.
I have on the Pres. debate and find it isn't changing my mind about the candidates.
Don't laugh but I'm looking forward to the VP debate, next Thurs Oct 11.
Have a good night, ladies.

Breast Cancer Recovery was founded by a wonderful woman....now its being run as a cult.
I was kicked out of the Recovery Retreat this year in Madeline Island. I followed all of their rules but refused to drink the kool-aid. This program is run by a group that does not support all women with breast cancer - only women who will follow them blindly. The talk out of both sides of their mouth. You cannot be an individual - they literally want you to be just like them.
Sorry, I'm a little po'd with that whole thing. I was kicked out shortly after I got there and I had an 8 hour drive home (at 7:30pm).....I'd be happy to explain this to anyone who is more interested. I will forever spit the truth on that group. Yes - I w2as KICKED OUT OF A BREAST CANCER RETREAT. Asked to leave. Yup.

Fuzz, I need to know! You can't leave us hanging. What did you do, not want to sign a waiver?

I wasn't depressed because of cancer...I "won" my retreat (which by the way....they pick who they want to win) and we were "allowed to do whatever we wanted as long as we let them know. I chose to walk the quarter mile back to our cabins after 5 hours of meetings (in the same room) and they wanted to follow me. Totally creepy. Then, because of my sleeping disorder, I missed breakfast & such the next day so I let them know I would check out the island so no one had to wait for me. When I got back, they were in another meeting about sex and I really didn't want to sit through that anyway. But, since I was getting weird messages, I went. One of the coordinators pulled me out and asked me to leave. She also rubbed it in my face, told all the other ladies as well, that I won the trip. Luckily the ferry was still running becausme they washed their hands of me.

Fuzz, wow, Just wow.
I know at retreats they like people to do the same things at a time, but they have to allow some variation! You rebel you! LOL!0 -
Moon....you made me laugh! I should have studied retreats and cults before I packed...then I wouldn't have been so surprised. LOL
0 -
They probably thought you would create a problem and no one would follow the path they oh so carefully script. Every moment is planned out. There is no room for individuality and definetly not room for someone who thinks the oneway sign is a suggestion! LOL as you can tell, I dont do well at retreats either! LOL

Moon...OMG. you hit it right on its ugly head. It was just that way. But....the island was beautiful. LOL They kicked me out....but didn't kick me down!!

Badger - Glad you liked "Wild". It was quite a story, I bought it for my niece who is getting her masters in Wildnerness Therapy. She was so honest with her experiences and journey.
Fuzz - Put that on your resume - Kicked out of BC retreat! I wouldn't do well in that kind of situation because I don't like to share a lot about myself in a group setting. I do better one on one. I've looked at their retreats and thought I'd like to attend because they choose beautiful places but now I don't think I'd go. Kicking you out and rubbing your face in the fact that you "won" isn't nice. I thought the retreats were run by survivors.
I don't think I'll be able to make the November get together, we're leaving town 11/6 so I know that will be a work weekend at home & office.
Take care, Gina

Fuzzy, I have to laugh. Someone in the health care field I know has pushed me to go to one of those retreats, but I read about the sessions and "dealing with my diagnosis through craft time" and knew it wasn't for me. They may be great for some people, but I am not person who " shares" well with a group of strangers. Everyone's diagnosis and experience is so different... The first time someone wrapped this crappy disease in a cloud of pink ribbon, I would have been ready to leave. Here I can pick and choose who I follow or connect with based on my current needs. By the way, maybe the next time you guys meet (after the winter) you'll have to venture north a little and I'll drive down & meet all of you I read about.

How far north? Inlaws in Plainfield. We could do a campout at the old farmhouse. And, yes indoor bathroom, but wood stove for cooking! LOL. Maybe next summer.

WAHAHAAAHA!!! CRAFT TIME!! OMG that's funny! There was this "shrine" thing.... when we told our "stories", 80% of the storytellers were crying and youre not allowed to say anything to them! Just let them cry and move on to the next nervous breakdown...and, I'll basically tell anybody anything but I usually add humor and sarcasm. Imagine how that "sex" talk would go....I'd have to start with "just say no". LOL.
I'm really happy with this get together stuff! Thank you all for letting me bust in the thread!
I'm curious where "north" is too. I'd totally Love that!0 -
Well its nice to see you had a nice meeting and enjoyed yourselves!! I been hanging in there.3rd one was different, haven't been able to shake it off, feel kind of foggy .the good thing is only 1 more ac to go.

Emerald....You seem to be handling the Red Devil pretty well! At that stage in the game...I was all tore up! And you only have one more to go!! Whoot Whoot!
I have to be in Milwaukee next week to meet with my PS. Anyone want to get together for some sweet potatoes at Boston Market? My appt is on October 10th, late afternoon. So I could do from 1 - 3ish?
0 -
Anyone (like me) get stuck in Presidential traffic yesterday?
Monica, I hope your DS wasn't socked in all afternoon.
Ladies, I once drove 10 hours to Shell Knob MO to spend a weekend with some BCO sisters (including chrissyb from Australia) so wouldn't mind driving "up north" at all. We live in such a pretty part of the world, might as well enjoy it. Camping out in an old farmhouse next summer sounds like a blast. Is it dark there? The country is great for night skies.
Fuzzy, you iconoclast you! Sorry to hear about your experience, it sounds like a betrayal.
I can't make it to Milw next week 10/10 but good luck with your PS appt.
Gina, hope you're doing something fun out of town, we'll miss you at the Nov gathering.
emerald, hang in there - 3 down & 1 to go! ((hugs)) to all

For the record, my "up north" is roughly Wausau area. I do get to Milwaukee or Madison occasionally and wouldn't mind driving down sometime. I am a teacher, however, so weekend time is at a premium during the school year. I'm much more social in the summer, when my schedule is less defined. I'll keep watching the meet-ups and one of these days, I might make the trip.
Fuzzy, I'm like you. I would have trouble with an emotional "story time". Most of my best cancer stories have a particularly funny (or sucky) punch line.0 -
Gottalove, that's about an hour north of my inlaws.
Badger, it is lovely dark there. Annd we have a lovely redneck hot tub. (The cistern by the well)
Fuzzy, which Boston Market? Where is your ps? I might be able to meet up.0 -
Oh the Wausau State park is BEAUTIFUL!!! I'd totally hit Wausau. Spent many many nights all along (and past) I39. Got some great friends there.
My PS is at the Clinic for Cosmetic Surgery. Can't think of the dang road....the Boston Market is on that road...off 45 I believe. LOL I'm more a creature of habit. Its a big road if that helps!! I'll try to find it. I'd looooove to see ya!0 -
hi ladies, everyone staying warm?
