well it IS all-natural...
So how about you guys make your plans for Friday then clue me in. I'll see if I can break away to do my duty as a citizen of WI to support our critical dairy industry and eat something milk-based.

Welcome to the new ladies on this forum..I've just been cuddled up in the house pretty much. The Shovel Fairies came out to help me so I could get some needed shopping done. It's good to have nice neighbors. I never realized how hard it is to shovel with a cane! LOL. This is just going to be a learning year for me, I guess.
Cc, your name reminds me of my folks farm. They were close to the corner of Hwy CC and FW!0 -
Well, I am in the snow belt - I don't think Spring is coming soon.....

cpp,
I haven't been here in about a year, and your post is one of the first I've read. You're diagnosis is a lot like mine! I found a lump on the left side which was Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, but after a bilateral mastectomy they discovered that indeed, I also had Lobular carcinoma on my right side at the same time! My doctor was surprised and was glad I decided to take both in the mastectomy. Me too! A year earlier I had precancerous cells removed on my right side, so that's why I wanted it taken with the left side. They did genetic testing on me too, but that came out negative so far.
I'm not advising that you get a double mastectomy, I'm just sharing what I did and how they found it on both sides. As alike as our diagnosis' are, each person is so different. And has there own special concerns and needs.
I'm from the Chippewa Valley area, near Eau Claire. Yes, Wisconsin ladies totally rock!!
Blessings to you!!Faithroad

Sorry ladies, I've haven't been here in a while and I think I just accidently responsed to an old post. I didn't realize I wasn't on the last page of the thread. Oops. If ccp still comes here, maybe she'll see it, or maybe not. That's ok...whatever.

So, if ya Wanna meet us at or near the hospital, scoot your booty on over!! It would be so awesome to see ya again too. So much to catch up on.
Faith...I've done that a few times myself!! LOL no worries!!
Moon...if we were neighbors, I'd shovel your walks too!! You're just wonderful and I'd Totally enjoy doing that for you: )

We seriously just need to get out of winter!! Ugh!0 -
hey fuzzy, sorry I won't be able to make it today due to a 10:30 meeting that was just scheduled. Bummer! But have fun and stay safe on the roads. They were pretty slushy last night.
hi Faithroad, nice to see you, hope things are going well for you.
Monica, we have a great neighbor who does our driveway with his snowblower. He is truly a snow angel!
I think the southeast part of the state got the worst of this last storm. Stay safe & warm!

Okay, this has nothing to do with breast cancer and everything to do with being a Wisconsin gal.......how about the Badgers today??? I was at the Kohl center for the Badgers BIG win over Michigan and it was one of the most exciting games I've seen.
Any other Badger basketball fans here?
One month ago today, I was having surgery. Today we celebrated a great victory. What a difference a month makes!0 -
Destina. ...oh what a difference a month makes!!!! LOL well, what I can remember about them anyway!!
I love the Badgers but I'll admit I don't watch...sorry....0 -
Destina, that must have been so much fun! We would have been watching if DH was home but he was not so the TV stayed off LOL.
Anyone get a ticket to Donald Driver's retirement party? Loved him on DWTS.

Hi WI girls, just checking in to say hi. I' m on vacation in Montana. Today, we drove up to Fernie, Canada for the day. It's only 2 hrs North of where we're staying. The scenery was beautiful. I hear that I'm missing some really lousy weather in Madison. I think I was lucky to get out of town without any major airport issues.
Badg, I hope your tooth is better. My husband had a similar experience last year.
Fuzz, I hope your appt @ UW went well & and that you' re feeling better & stronger with less pain each day.
Welcome to the new girls on this thread! I like Badger football, haven't gotten into basketball but was glad to see the win over MI! Anytime we beat MI it,s a good thing!
Take care, Gina0 -
Gina, Madison has been gray & dreary...that is, when it's not dumping lots of rain. Most of the time winter doesn't bother me too much, but this year I am really finding the lack of color depressing. Yeah, cancer couldn't have anything to so with that, right? ;-)
Oh, and they did bring out the Badger football team at halftime (gave us enough time to *almost* forget the three-peat Rose Bowl loss). I was impressed with all the academic all-stars. That's got to be tough given their schedules. And new head coach, Gary Andersen was there. Lots of support from the 17,000 present in the Kohl center.0 -
Destina, we were in Madison on Saturday, but only saw the last of the game and O.T. from Brickhouse BBQ. What a fantastic win! I'm sure it was exciting to be at the game. Dropped off DS#1 at school while DS#2 rowed at the tanks in the boathouse.
gina, have fun in Montana...

Gina have fun in Montana, my SIL lives in Helena. Weather is gray. Took a pic the other day, it looked black and white pic! If a bit of the stop sign didn't show, it really would look b &w. LOL

Hey Gina, if you see Dr. Dreamy in Montana, give him a smooch for me!
Lots of crap at work - lying boss, downsizing, turmoil & general unhappiness.
I'm flashing back to Hee Haw and that song about Gloom, Despair and Agony...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPL7nN99jno and it makes me smile. Pass the Jug!

Badger....oh honey...can we all plan a meet up and have a few drinks?? Don't we allllllll kinda need one?

Having some serious boob pain. Not quite as bad today as it was yesterday. Can't wait for this to be over!! 19 down, 12 more to go!

SwgeeWi, sorry you're in pain. Is it from rads? I did chemo but no rads so no advice there but someone else may be able to help.
Found out our office is being closed and employees transferred to other locations. Good news is I still have a job but bad news is new location won't work with my carpool so commuting costs just doubled, which amounts to a cut in pay. Two people already lost their jobs and no one will be secure until the dust settles.
Gina we should do lunch one of these days. Sunprint is staying open at their current location until the end of March so that might work. Fuzzy, when's the next time you're in Madison? Monica, up for a day trip? Destina, it sounds like you're in or near Madison so maybe you'd like to join us? Anyone is welcome, of course! Mary, can you make it downtown for lunch or just after work?
An idea for after work is to check out the exhibit at the Chazen then find something good to eat and drink. Would have to be on a Thurs, when they're open until 9. Otherwise they close at 5. http://www.chazen.wisc.edu/
Nice sunny day but chilly. Stay warm everyone! ((hugs))

Hi girls, At the airport in MT waiting to go home, Back in Madison tonight.
Badger -sounds like some serious changes at work for you. Yes, we need to meet for lunch soon so we can catch up. I'll see how things are when I return to work and pm you with a day. Hope others can join us. Gina0 -
You're leaving on a jet plane...I know when you'll be back again...oh believe me, I butchered the vocals as much as the lyrics...
Welcome Home!!!0 -
Hey Fuzz, I can't sing either! Hope we don't ' have any travel delays. I' m ready to get home and see my big dog! I've missed him tons. MT is very dog friendly so I had my share of dog petting but now I need my pal. Gina

I do the commute to Madison 3 times a week with hubby (Tue/Thur & Fri) and can usually stay for dinner but cannot get anywhere much earlier than 6pm. The Chazen would be fun. We'll be on a little vacation trip to Florida soon so will check back in when we return.
It's almost 2 years since diagnosis which means the annual mammogram is coming up along with an MRI for something they're watching from last fall, if the insurance cooperates with the radiologist's suggestion for follow-up. I might even get to have another ultrasound! I try to think of those as being like a spa treatment with the dim lights and warm blanket.
Badger: are there others who travel in your direction? We sure see more traffic on our stretch of the highway now compared to when we first started this routine in 2007. DH was downsized twice before getting the job he has now...

hi ladies, hope everyone is staying warm!
I saw the Angels exhibit at the Chazen last year and it was amazing.
No cost but a free-will donation box so it's affordable.
Thx Mary, it'll all work out once I'm settled but for now it's wait-and-see.
and we all know how much fun waiting is, right? Have fun in FL!

Hi all! Is be up for a trip if the weather would cooperate. Let me know.

The Chazen could be fun (i don't think ive been there since it was the Elvehjem!) and it would be very nice to meet you all. Depending on the Thursday, I might just be available. ;-)
I thought there might be a chance to meet some of you at the UW since I'll be starting radiation soon. But I just had my CT simulation and tattoos yesterday and they mentioned you can get the radiation treatment at their east side clinic as well. That works out much better for me, since I'm east of Madison to begin with. I'm having the 3 week accelerated course and should begin by next week (just waiting for the call to schedule). Hoping that goes well.0 -
Vlnrph, I like your reframing of the diagnostics as a spa day! I have a dear friend who told me to imagine radiation as the sun beaming healing rays through me, to which I replied that that might be a challenge but was preferable to thinking about it as Chernobyl. When I had my MRI last week, I felt I was alternating between a loud construction site and a very bad heavy metal concert. Yep, I think reframing would serve me well.
Hope you have a terrific Florida getaway!0 -
Destina, I didn't know the Chazen was once the Elvehjem - always wanted to go there.
