Blue... Every part of this BC journey is difficult, and I have played the doctor/insurance game enough to know it is never easy... This is where we can share because we all understand and can ask questions...
Blessings... That is terrible!!! When I read things like that, it reminds me how lucky I have been with the people and experiences I have had in my life.
And Badger... LOVE IT!!!! If our snow would actually stick together I might have paid my nephew to build one for me. The kids at recess have been trying to build snowmen all winter and it's been so cold, it's just powder.

GottaLoveNED, we're getting snow right now, light & fluffy flakes. Pretty but not snowman material. We've had some substantial "sticky" snowfalls, though; our neighbors have a giant snowman they built with their grandkids and it's been so cold it's lasted and lasted. Probably hard as a rock by now, like the huge piles at the end of our driveway from where the plow came through.

Yes Blessings. I read that and I am appalled! However, that was not my experience when I went there. They were so helpful. It took almost an hour to fit my wig after my hair started falling out. They buzzed my head and she hand sewed the netting to be sure it would stay on. She also trimmed the netting so it wouldn't rub. It was pretty comfortable for me. If that occurred exactly as Alison stated ( and it's hard to make that stuff up) I can't imagine what happened to change it. It's hard to reconcile what I experienced from what Alison experience was. Sad. I would now NOT recommend that shop.

I'm sad and angry today. My sister in law got a breast cancer diagnosis yesterday. Son of a bitch!! I feel so bad for her, she really wasn't prepared for the news. (Who is?) She'll have her breast MRI on Monday. I told my brother that distraction is the best thing during the waiting game. The memories of 14 months ago came flooding back. It's amazing to me how much of a blur some of it is. I just remember when I hit that one year cancerversary I felt like a weight had been lifted and I could breathe again. If you guys could say a prayer for her as well I know she could use them! Hugs!

Also saw a newspaper story on the fallout from this incident. All I can say is, they completely ignored me when I walked into that shop during the late spring of 2011. Stood around for 10-15 minutes, then left and got my wig from the gal who runs the salon at Froedtert.
gottalove, the facial tingling sounds a little like trigeminal neuralagia: not a fun diagnosis but not metastatic disease! Sometimes viral infections can trigger similar ailments. Been sick recently?
Lisa/bluewillow, don't be too upset about not having oncotype done, I didn't have it either. Since your DCIS was not invasive, chemo was not needed so the test was probably not indicated.
Sophiamarie, say hi to Dr H from Mary, the violinist. I'm very happy Frank has his fiddle back. I would be too nervous to even hold a real Strad, let alone play on one...

Im going to call on Monday and if that nurse and Dr. Wilke brushes me off again Im changing doctors...i want that MRI.

swgee, I'm sorry about your SIL. In some ways it seems like it's harder when we hear a diagnosis because we know more...I'll pray for peace for them as they wait....
Vlnrph, Everything I looked into before I decided to go in to the onc was various versions of bad. When the best option is a viral issue... I'm glad I had the MRI done... I was debating whether I go right to the onc or start with the family Dr. I may feel stupid if it's some stupid inner ear thing that's causing it, but I didn't waste a month or more playing the waiting for appts. game with various docs. The onc says MRI and I'm in a week later. By the way how's the LE? I have been a very very bad girl... One reason I've been off the boards... I feel too guilty since I am not doing my self care or compression properly. I hope you're doing better than me!

I love Dr Hijjawi. He understands my concern about losing coverage for Froedtert and so agreed to schedule a lift on the good side now! And if I can keep coverage long enough, he will evaluate again to possibly do the reconstruction a few months earlier than my one year. And if it's still advisable to wait, I was told that their insurance girl is excellent in fighting with insurance companies. So he's doing everything he can to help work with me - and I'm so grateful because I really want him to be the one to do it!
It feels so good to have hope! I've been hiding behind jackets and pocket shirts - I will be so happy to be able to wear my t-shirts in public again!
If anyone has had experience with lifts, I'd love to hear about it! I think he may be doing the crescent lift? He mentioned cutting above and that it would only take about an hour...

Starting rads Monday, 2/17 for 30 tx. Happy to have same rads onc. Will make friends with valet parking people again so they'll leave my truck out in front and not park it in the ramp. Last time, they were so kind. Left my truck out and handed me my keys as I ran by so I could get to work by 8:15 am.

Well, gottaloveNED is still an appropriate screen name. Saw the onc today and my brain is unremarkable!!! One of the options he gave me if I felt I wanted to pursue it further was an appointment with a neurologist for a second look at the MRI. Since I've almost met my deductible, I might as well to give me extra peace of mind. So no definitive answer, but not having visible cancer is enough for me right now. Now to work on taking off some winter weight and getting back on track with my lymphedema management!

Hello to all, especially SophiaMarie - it's great that Dr H can work with you. Did he mention that his mom had BC? I also met Dr Kinney when a family member had plastic surgery and there are other good docs in Milwaukee if your insurance becomes a real problem...
Gottalove, the best thing I am doing for the lymphedema right now (besides water exercise) is daily use of the Flexitouch sequential pump. This machine is made by Tactile Systems in the Twin Cities. They have local reps who will come to your house for a demonstration. In 45 minutes, my wrist circumference went down by 0.5 cm and arm by almost a half inch! It costs several thousand dollars so needs prior authorization. If your deductible is almost met, you might look into it. Mine was approved last year, then got denied when the manufacturing company sent their bill to be paid. I am almost ready to make a bad faith complaint to the State Commissioner since a similar situation is pending with the MRI I had in November after a 2 month delay: I won on appeal but the hospital has not been able to collect.

vlnrph, I've looked into it, but I've had good control up until this year. I had been faithful at wearing day compression and night garments, with only a few hours off each evening. But, I fell off the wagon big time. I need to go back into bandages, then back into regular garments. If that doesn't work, I think I'm going to have to go in for re-eval and treatment. I know a lot of people like the flexitouch, so maybe that's something to look into. So... Saturday is the big day... again...I'm going to try for 2 weeks in bandages although last time I said that, I thought 1 week was good enough... Bandage bondage... HATE IT!!!!

i heard back from my onco Dr Tevaarwerk...she is scheduling the MRI for me. Unfortunately it cant be an open air machine so I will have to take some Valium since im claustrophobic.But i am so relieved that one of my doctors really listened to my concerns.

Thx Badger! That's one of the roses I got for my anniversary last year. I cropped it, played with it and it does look pretty! I was proud of the way it looks. Of course it was pretty to begin with. LOL
