Nice day in the beautiful Driftless region of Southwest WI, too!

Headed to Lancaster tonight for a 5k glow run, "Run from the Cops" LOL.  It's a fundraiser by the Grant County Deputy Sheriff's Association for the SAFE families initiative.  Haven't ever done a glow run but it sounds like fun and it's for a good cause.  I don't actually run but I walk really really fast.

News about our beloved fuzzy, she needs our thoughts & prayers! ♥ to all

Badger hope your run was great.

So sorry to hear about Fuzzy. She is in prayers.

Happy Mothers to all who are Mom's whether of humans or furbabies or who play one on TV! LOL

The run/walk was great!  Storms went south of us so we had a beautiful night for it.  The runners lined up first, then the cops and their families, then us walkers. Then they said, "OK run from the cops, run fast!" and off we went. I finished in 47:16 which is a bit slower than my PB but still respectable.

SophiaMarie, I LOVE Wyalusing State Park!  The overlook at the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers is one of my favorite places on the planet.

Happy Mothers' Day to all the moms!  I made my mom and MIL homemade treats: peanut butter balls, coconut macaroons, and classic choc chip.  They don't need any stuff and I figure all moms like things made by their children's hands, right?  Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Out for a walk soon then Sunday Brunch with the family. ♥

I remember the Great Dane dinner we had with fuzzy in Madison a while back. Thanks to badger for keeping us informed although it's not happy news.

On the other hand, our support group had a visit from a gal who's been stage IV for 15 years. She was told she'd not see her kids finish high school: they've now completed advanced degrees!

Instead of describing seminars after I've attended, I'm letting you know now that there are a couple programs coming up in June - one is a free survivorship forum in Green Bay on Tuesday, the 3rd; the other in downtown Milwaukee on a weekend (the 14th) is more science oriented and we just missed the early bird registration so that one costs $30.

Need to figure out how to post links to these but can suggest you search with terms like wisconsin breast cancer symposium, etc.

hi ladies, there's also a fundraiser for fuzzy to have a vacation with her girls but the rules of the board don't allow it to be posted so if anyone's interested, PM me and I'll send you the link.

Drove to Madison for work yesterday but there had been a fire at my carpooler's bldg downtown and they wouldn't let anyone in.  Couldn't leave her stranded so we headed to my bldg so I could take care of a few things quick, then we headed back home.  Gotta love those impromptu days off, eh?

Nice weekend on tap for me.  Family wedding on Wisconsin's east coast today so staying overnight.  Meeting Monica for Sun brunch tomorrow.  Looking forward to seeing ya sis! ♥ to all

Hi ladies....i hope everyone is doing well...I have been busy taking some online classes and due to start some  real life college classes next week. I finally had my MRI yesterday. Bad news....looks like Im getting on the cancer coaster again. They found "something" on my opposite breast(left) this time. Didnt see it on mammo. I will be having an MRI guided biopsy in a couple weeks. OH JOY. I managed the mri despite being claustrophobic...the valium did zero for me though. But after seeing how they do this next MRI they may need to knock me out. :/  Looks like my summer of three yrs ago is going to repeat itself. My partner wants, if its positive, to do the double mastectomy and be done with it all. She says if the cancer F&*^$*# is gonna mess with me twice its time to get rid of the boobs. If I have to have a surgery again Im not sure if I will stick with Wilke or try Beckman this time. I know I dont want to do radiation for 6 weeks again nor risk having chemo. Im assuming I would be able to do immediate recon if i have the mastectomy.....however Dr.Affifi wasnt keen on doing an implant on my rads side when I saw him back in Dec/Jan....I dont know if his mindset would be different if I have a mastectomy on my prior right  lumpectomy side  at same time as the left. I am hoping someone here will be able to give recommendations for PSs in Madison area other than Affifi....i want several dr opinions. I guess my gut feeling was correct....Im so glad I did the MRI and pushed for it.

blue willows so sorry to hear this news! I'm having an MRI on my remaining breast this Friday and I'm a little nervous too! Mammo showed a spot that has grown just a small amount - they say they think it's a cyst - I sure hope so! I just finished treatment 1/31/14 so I'm definitely not ready for all of that once again! Can you tell me what to expect from MRI? Should I have someone with me? So I assume they were able to give you some premliminary results? I hope your biopsy goes well & that it ends up being nothing! Stupid cancer!

so far all they said is "something" was found in my healthy breast(left) and that it def warrants having a biopsy. No mention of calcifications like with my first dcis cancer which was found on my first mammo ever. Im sorry you are dealing with this again so soon....its been since April 2011 for me. I knew my chances were good for a new or recurrent BC since i had to stop tamoxifen because I am pre menopause and er+ too. Ive been mostly prepared for this for months now as  i thought the mamo missed something....but its not quite the same as being out right told you need another biopsy....i found out this morning early and now that its night im feeling some emotions starting to build as the shock of it is wearing off...night time is always the worst for me as my partner drives truck OTR and im a night owl and have no one to talk to at night.

The MRI was fairly easy and im claustrophobic.  I had to let my breasts hang down through a plastic "corral" thing and they gave me an IV for the contrast dye. It took about an hour or so tops.

Ill send good vibes your way too.

B lue, so sorry! Damn cancer!  I hope it's b9.

One of the things they are trying now is fat grafting on the rad side Before trying TEs. They put the fat under the skin and do it a couple of times. That helps the skin get flexible. Otherwise rad skin and implants are not the best match. That's why they usually suggest Dieps or latflaps.  But you are going to need to have a good talk with your BS and PS.

I had to do the breast in the hole thing for the biopsy they did on me. They really need to have the men docs dangle their stuff through one of those just to see how awful that is! LOL

    Hugs.

oops. Lana, don't know if I met you before. Sorry.

I hope yours is a cyst or perhaps just scar tissue. I had a node blow up to 6 centimeters Damn thing felt like an egg! But it was just a broken node that filled with fatty stuff and they took it out when they put a TE in. So here's hoping it's something simple for you too.

    Much love

Hi ladies! I haven't been on here in quite awhile, January to be precise. I am still working on grad school and working full-time. I had to move to an apartment as I was finishing the cancer cycle because we just couldn't afford the house anymore. We found a place that takes dogs so we brought him with us. Last week he got off his leash and tore up two screen doors in the apartments next to me. The apartment manager is giving me one week to get rid of him or get evicted. If anyone has any interest in a very sweet Doberman mix, reply here or send me a PM. I have been contacting rescues and shelters every minute I am not working and they are all too full right now.

Inside the home, he is very well behaved
and follows a lot of commands. He has a set of bells that he rings to request
food, and a different set of bells that he rings in order to let us know that
he needs to go potty. Words and phrases that he knows are: sit, stay, here,
1-2-3 (counting to three when he is in trouble), go, down, belly rub, roll
over, shake, other hand, eat, drink, potty, go get your bone (I give him one
every Saturday), go get Mommy, off the bed, jump, speak, you go night-night or
time to go night-night, no, go for a walk (which is a walk on the treadmill) and
there may be more that I am not thinking of. He sleeps in my son’s room in his
kennel at night. He loves to take walks on the treadmill.

We got Bailey Benjamin as I was going through cancer treatments and not sure that I was going to make it. He has been really good for my son's social skills, having Asperger's and my daughter's constant need for attention. Let me know if anyone here has any interest or knows someone who does. He is 2 1/2 years old, neutered, microchipped, etc.

jbug. I am happy for you and your furbaby. Yay!

Blue, I don't have a link but just Google "cancer predictor tool" a bunch of different ones came up for me.

Reminder of Campout. Last week of July in Central WI. Actually a house we can have for the weekend so rain won't matter. Time away from kids or hubby. If you want to bring your hubby we can work it out. Mine will be there to take care of the property so the guys will have stuff to do to. Mini vacay. Cheap too; only food costs.  PM for details if you can make it.

I'm hoping that my knee is all better by then.

Bluewillowskys - Dr. Samuel Poore is a plastic surgeon at the UW that comes with high recommendation.  I met with him about a year ago and will met with him again soon.  I decided not to do reconstruction right away and looking into it again post treatment.  I had a neoadjuvant chemo, bmx, radiation, ooph and now on Femara.

bluewillowskys: what kind of surgery was your friend having that she was disfigured by? Can you describe what happened? I was curious because I had some experiences through my DIEP flap that I am not sure can be blamed on the surgeon, as much as I would like to. It is described in this post. post

my friend's daughter had some sort of flap reconstruction and it went terribly wrong....i dont know all the specifics, just know she has had multiple surgeries trying to fix things.....the first dr. put some kind of mesh in there and it failed too.

I dont know of Dr Larson....ive been treated at the Uw Madison and had Dr. Wilke as my BS.

flaps can not take sometimes.  Tissue dies and revisions are needed. But implants can fail too with infections or other problems.  All we can do is try and get through things somehow. Do the best thing you can do at the time with the knowledge you have.

    Much love.

I did J-Bug - that sounds like a nightmare!!  You know, people just don't have a clue what we go through.  It's enough to have to forever worry about recurrence, but all the cutting and pasting we go through - with patchwork scars to boot.  I think the next time I hear a stupid comment about how fortunate I am to have perky boobs now, I might just have to rip my shirt open and show the reality!  It's hard to feel sexy with the cut and paste scars on one side and my lumpy mis-aimed Idaho potato on the other!  Good thing for clothes!
