Sounds like you had a great day, Enerva.  Smile

BB, Jazzy, and June - Happy 4th to you, too!  Hope you enjoy your weekends.

I had a nice weekend planned, but the payments I was expecting never came.  A bunch of red tape seems to be holding them up.  So, I've been in a state of panic all week because the fridge and cabinets were bare.  Finally, on Wednesday night, I came up with a plan, and then today I spent the day hocking things for money.  Actually, I couldn't believe what I was able to trade and sell.  Smile  Then amazingly, when we were in a discount store afterward, another shopper apparently noticed what was happening, and she offered me a $20 bill.  I refused it, of course, but I couldn't believe how sweet she was.  Meanwhile, thanks to trading and selling, we now have money for food.  But I still don't have enough money to do what I planned to do with my sons tomorrow, so I might sell some more things, cleaning out the house at the same time, or we might be stuck at home.  Anyway, I hope all of you are having a better week than I've been.  Thanks for reading my vent.

Life- I am so sorry your money has not shown up yet. Red tape sounds like more BS stall tactics to me. Can they garnish his wages?

It is amazing what people will buy. I have been downsizing/decluttering this year and have been taking things to consignment and doing well with it.

I am sorry you won't be able to do what you wanted to with the boys. Praying your $$ shows up.

Melp- glad you were able to shower. I remember my first shower after I got home from my surgeries and also internal rads. A feeling that no one quite understands except for us.

I am glad the stomach issues are easing and hope you are able to stay cool and hydrated. You are getting on the other side of this.

BB - So, you had this problem, too?  Sounds like someone came into your life at the right time, even if things didn't work out later.

Jazzy - Thanks for the kind words.

    Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

Wishing you all a good 4th here in the US, good Saturday for our friends here in other countries.

Melp- I bet the pool felt so good!

I am going to make my July 4th today about music. I am going out tonight with my friend who just completed cancer treatment to listen to some music tonight. I have not seen her in a bit and we have talked about doing some music some evening and tonight is the night. Her sister, whom I know well, is playing in the jazz group we will go see. My friend is slowly getting her energy back, she has been anemic post chemo. But she has her daughter coming to visit soon, and is going to see her son in NYC in August. It is good to see her getting back in to life again. I may also go play some music and stop to see a friend playing with her trio at the museum today.

Melp- good to hear. Have you been in the hospital the whole time or staying with friends or family post procedure?

Had a fun evening of jazz on the patio with my friend and our music community here. I knew everyone in the band, and others showed up I know too. Such a great night of connection and reconnection. The friend I went with is just coming through chemo and getting out to do things again, and seemed to have a good time. It was just good all the way around.

Going to the farmers market next and meeting up with a friend for brunch. I need to stop eating (LOL!)

Ugh, so I had a nice outing with my friend but noticed after I got home one of my front head lights looks smashed in. No other damage to the front of the car so someone vandalized it somewhere along the way today where I was today. This is my more expensive car and going to have to see if I can find someone who can find a used headlight assembly. I won't buy a new one, too freaking expensive. This is the car I just got through getting that oil fixed around.

Well, it was a fun weekend until that.

June- good to hear from you. Where are you going for Xmas, somewhere fun?

I spent some time talking with the insurance company and also got a police report taken care of this afternoon. I actually think someone backed into it and hit the light with their bumper vs. it being vandalism the more I looked at it and talked through it. Insurance says it sounds like the plastic cover may be the only thing that needs to be done (lights work) so this may not be a big deal, just a hassle. Cars can be fixed, I remind myself of that.

E- how was your weekend? Did you get out on the bike? Doing any open houses?

Lilly- how are you doing end of the weekend. How are your dogs? Are folks in the EU worried about what is going on with Greece? It makes me nervous.

Life- I hope you and your boys were able to have a decent holiday weekend together despite all the obstacles around checks, etc. You deserve a break from your ex's BS.

Melp-wishing you continued recovery and a good return home.

BB - Good luck with the updates to your apartment.

Melp - Take it easy once you get home.  Rest well.

E - Hope all is well.

Stix- I am self employed so not sure I can help, but Enerva or others in FT employment may have better advice. It is good to move on to something better always when you are able.

    sitx -

to be honest, i was dx 3 months after i started my new job. things worked out but i considered it's very unusual that my boss was being very supportive. i took many hours off went to the doc, then the surgery...and then i took 3 months off. i started all again after i put that all behind me. it really depends on how much time you're taking off....and how the company policy, how the recovery. many factors play into it. sometimes i just think your gut feeling is probably the best indicator.

Hi ladies- I am in a cooking mood this week after going to the farmers market this weekend. My desire to bake, cook, etc. has not been very present since going through treatment. I find as a single person, just easier to buy a lot of prepared food, but also not as good for you. So I am trying to do better with making healthy foods here at home. I also feel good that the desire to cook more may be returning (although I still go in cycles with it). Perhaps another part that went away a few years ago that is back?

I used to make quiches all the time, one of my favorite foods and learned to make it as a teen in a French class (where in addition to the language, we had to learn how to make some basic french dishes). Yesterday I made the dough and chilled it overnight, and today, I baked these two quiches. The one in the back is a a wild spinach, bacon and sharp cheddar and the one in the front is an artichoke, bacon, smoked gouda. Waiting for them to cool before I "quality test" them, and also going to share them with a couple of my neighbors (a few of the women in my neighborhood do this with each other, a really nice way to connect and share with each other).

I wish I had a way to give you all a slice!

I went to a meeting this afternoon with my networking group. My friend who wants a wife ended up in a group discussion with myself and another fellow. He was normal today, no chit chat about wanting to get married over and over. I wonder if the dynamic of being with another male makes a difference? Chances are that he may just realize I am not responding. Funny, I thought he was cool when I first met him, but the marriage push became a big turn off.

We broke a rainfall record for the past 24 hours; 2.24 inches overnight. Our normal rainfall is 8 inches annually. I woke up to a lot of thunder last night and know there was some heavy rain, but was surprised to hear how much. More is coming. Monsoons have begun.
