BB- so glad you are doing better today. I can understand your concern about missing apts. today. You sound good to go.

I have a busy 4 day work week, then going out of town this weekend. Wishing everyone a good week!

BB- going up north to a little community called Las Vegas, NM. I went there for the first time last summer on the way up to Denver. There is a cool old hotel there from the 1800s called The Plaza Hotel (nothing like the one in NYC) and wanted to go back to explore this area. There are also some old Anasazi and spanish mission in this area I have been wanting to check out too. Going up on Sat and coming back on Monday. Just a few hours north of here for a little break.

We have had waves of cold and rain coming through here too. The weekend and into today has been beautiful. Hope you get some sunshine in time for Memorial Day. A picnic with the dog is a great idea!

Simplicity posted on the FB page she may be going home today!

BB- I grew up more as an only child, so I learned very young to be self entertaining. My siblings were much older, and although I had friends around, I spent a lot of time around adults and so there were times I just needed to be away from the grown ups and have things to do on my own. There are many things in life I would have never done if I waited for someone to do it with.

There is a lot to be said for having your own adventures. Even with your dog!

Didnt get to go home today :(

I am doing good. Hate the reality of having to take 2 pain pills thou. But if I dont, I cant move. They ended up doing a DIEP on the right, and a TRAM on the left. Seriously looks like they cut me in half.

Hope all have a good evening.

Simplicity- better to be there where they can help you. You are still early in the recovery process and those pain pills will get you through. Just wean off them as you can when you get home. They cause other problems (like constipation).

BB- when doing things alone, I always practice safety first. I won't go hiking alone, drive at night after dark when I am alone, etc. Going to a park where there are other people to have a little picnic is probably a very safe thing to do. Bring a book, or your journal, and your pup, something good to eat. See how it feels to do that alone. See how you feel and if you like it? Not everyone likes to do things alone.

Thanks ladies. Ive always had a high pain tolerance. Not always a good thing. Both surgeries surprised me thou in that although the pain is debilitating to a point, it's not horrendous. More worried about splitting open stitche

E- the apartment improvements look really good. The flooring is nice and the new bathroom looks bright and fresh. It sounds like this weekend was a rough one. I hope things are better soon.

Hope the new classes are going well and you are enjoying them. I hope you hear something about that job soon. Fingers crossed!

BB - I hope you feel better soon. I have some kind of evil virus, sick with pain and nausea. Of course, you all know where our minds go when we're sick... but other people seem to have the same thing, so it must be a virus.

Simplicity - Rest well! I don't know the difference between a TRAM and a DIEP, but I do know that many women are happy with the results.

E - You did a great job with the shower doors!

Melp - Always thinking of you! Hope you are well.

Jazzy- I used to travel alone, too (I think I might've mentioned before). I enjoyed it. It's nice being with other people, too, but there's a certain peace one feels alone. It's like going on a retreat, good for the soul. There are beaches less than an hour away from where I live. They make a nice retreat spot with a book, your toes in the sand, and the sounds of ocean.

Enerva- the place is really looking nice. I love the way it feels when furniture, things on the wall, etc. come together to start giving a place a look and feel. This is way more work than you expected, but it will be a place you like and closer to everything. With more on your plate with classes, it will be good to not have to spend so much time on the train.

Every message you share though says you are exhausted. We do need to be careful about that friend. Please give yourself permission to rest when you can?

Life- when I lived back east, I went to the beach all the time. My retreat here is to northern NM to places that fill me up. Can't explain it, but the northern part of the state has the most incredible energy about it. I read somewhere everyone needs to be able to take a vacation by themselves. I just love the "thinking" time that comes with a good drive too!

I am sorry about your bug. Every time I get sick, I immediately think the worst. I then tell myself if I am not better within a few weeks, it is time to get checked out. I had a nasty bug from March into April that hit my lungs. Where is the pain?

BB- I think discussing the apt commitments with your therapist is a great idea. I work on site for my current client 4 days a week but am offsite and handling multiple apts in one day to deal with everything. Sometimes it is not possible to do that, but most doctors offices can work with you to find a schedule that works. Working PT or from home will give you more flexibility for right now.

Went to a fun happy hour with a prof org tonight and we had a cute waiter helping our group. Every time he served me something, he called me m'lady. I liked that!

hi girls.... Not sure if you are open to having a newbie join the fray? I'm single (just turned 45...and a mom to twin boys who are 9) and find myself scared of the possibility of going through life alone now that I've been hit with this diagnosis. I had been dating a fair amount before DX, and now I'm just sad about the whole ordeal. Ugggg

If you are willing, would love to join you all! You may serve as inspiration, as many of you look to be completing treatments.

Hi hopefloats- welcome to our thread. We are sorry you find yourself in this situation, but glad you found us and you are more than welcome to join in. We have ladies here in all stages of this, from just being diagnosed to those coming through recon, those in ongoing treatment and those of us who are a few years out.

We have ladies here who are also single moms and went through treatment as such. I know they will be a great support to you. This whole thing is scary, and focusing on your treatment is what you need to do. With a young family, let people help you with your boys so you can be sure to get to apts and through chemo, surgery, etc. We know it's overwhelming, but we will be here for you as you go through this.

To all my other friends here, I will be gone for a few days but will be back here sometime early next week. Everyone have a fun and safe weekend!

Overcoming- hi and welcome to our thread. Sometimes we need to step away from here, other times we come back. We understand.

Glad to have you here and think there are some women on this thread whom have been dating who can better advise on how to approach men on this subject. I have not dated since it all went down in 2012, I tell myself I need to just go have coffee with someone if I could even meet anyone I like (lol).
