Congrats Josie - 1 more year until the 5-year milestone!

Sorry about your DD. I know how hard it is to see our kids struggling. We went through one horrible ordeal after another for years with our youngest son. I was at the point when I literally dreaded when he went out with friends because inevitably something happened and it was never good. How my DH and I survived the stress and fears I'll never know - but we did and you will too.

Our son got his wake up call and has never looked back. Whether it was divine intervention or not it gave us our life back - and his.

Praying for your DD and you.

    Diane

Josie, I sure hope your DD keeps feeling better and better. You must be absolutely exhausted between work and hospital and grandbaby, not to mention whatever else might be going on with your family. You certainly deserve a break.

Me too with the four years! Just had my mammo today, followed by a visit with the BS, who saw nothing in the images. Radiologist will make the official call, of course, but, wow. Four years! Did any of us think we'd get there?

Hi, checking in and see not too much traffic here.
Josie, thinking of you and hoping things calm down and this new year will bring better things your way.

April, Brookside, congratulations on the four years!

I am back to work.  It was a hard adjustment getting used to the longer workdays again.  It is not a hard job but I still work those long hours on Monday (8am to 9pm) and Wednesday (8am to 8pm).  My first two classes were good.  But I am looking forward to the week end.  Saturday is my son's birthday.  He lives in Chicago; but he is working in New York City this week.  We will go in to meet him for dinner with my grandson & girlfriend.  He has a job offer in NY and does not have a job in Chicago so as much as I know he does not want to come back to NY, I will be glad to have him nearby.  His girlfriend is in Chicago, and I am not sure she will come or whether their relationship can withstand the move.

Brookside, I was thinking of you the other day when I was in CT--wondering if you will be going that way any time soon.
    How's the snow this winter?

Sew, keep thinking even thoughts!  I hope to get to SFO this year.

The best thing about the Super Bowl week end is that baseball spring training is right around the corner :-D

    Stay warm!

April and Brookside - congrats. It is hard to believe four years have passed since the dreaded DX.

Thanks Josie. Keep the faith. It will get better.

Joan - hope your son does move closer. I can't imagine not having the majority of my kids around ESP my youngest son. We get to see and yes babysit the twins a lot. In fact I'm going today to help out while GFF goes to an appointment. My best GFF babysat for them yesterday for a few hours. There is a babysitter who helps but I have to admit I would rather take care of them if possible.

It is going to get dicey though if GFF gets into nursing school. Her days will consist of 6:45 am to 3:45 pm every day for 14 weeks. I will help but can't every day. It will mean a lot for her in her career and a financial boost for her and my son. He is up for a promotion. He has earned it so praying he gets it.

Their apartment is large but crowded with 4 kids. They want to wait to move to a house until they have saved more money which is financially responsible on their parts but it's a challenge trying to keep from tripping over toys and kids.

DH and I are still embroiled in a tug of war with BCBS. We are preparing our appeal and waiting on paperwork from the Neurology group. They are so infuriating and woefully inefficient. My DH has gone to their office to get what we need because they are constantly passing the buck in their office. DH is switching neurologists after this asap.

My sister and BIL will be in Tunica tomorrow so friend and I are driving there to meet them. DH can't get off from work and he wouldn't go anyway. He hates casinos. My BIL loves to gamble so he is heaven there. My sister not so much. I'll play the nickel slots. I'm not much of a gambler obviously.

Sending pics of twins wrestling with stuffed tiger I bought DS when he was little. Too cute!

I was bummed out Atlanta lost the SB. Unfortunately they were their own worst enemy. Colossal collapse. Ugh

    kids are cute Diane.

Just popped in to say hi. All is almost too quiet here. I'm busy shoveling snow today, trying to get the whole yard done. Don't forget we live on an acreage. Lots of work doing it by hand, but to me it beats a treadmill anyday. Have my check up for kidney stone on Thursday. Hope it's not another 2 hr wait for 15 seconds of his time. Hugs to all. Fran

Thanks Fran. It is quiet. You are so busy. So are we. DH cut down this massive 50' tree. By himself no less. I was at Mass when it came down. He is amazing and fearless. Hated to lose it but it was dead. Pin oak.

Busy babysitting the kids. Saves DS money on babysitting and plus I love being with them. Good thing I'm retired from my job@Fedex. Early retirement has proved to be the right move.

Shopping for Valentine's Day for kids. It is a wonderful holiday and a sad one for me. It's my Mom's birthday. I miss her so much. Even as old as my sibs and I are she still bought us a Russell Stover valentine every year. Yum!

DS's GFF's birthday is next Friday. We are watching the kids so they can go to dinner. She has applied to nursing school but has to take 5 courses before they will accept her. At least they are online ones.

DS is up for a promotion on his job. So deserves it. He is such a hard worker. His best friend just got a job with his company. Hope that works out.

It is flipping 77 degrees here. Unbelievable for February.

My brother and best GFF drove to Tunica last Wednesday to meet my sister and BIL. Had lunch and played a few slots. It is unreal to me how many people there gamble so much money. I set a limit and I'm done. I know business is down for those casinos. I do buylottery tickets every now and then. It's fun to dream!

Have a good weekend everyone. Hope everyone is doing well!

Diane, those babies are getting cuter by the day!! I know how wonderful it is to be a grandma but I'm sure they keep you busy. Your sons so lucky to have you.

Fran, be careful shoveling that snow.

Joan, hang in there it will be spring break before you know it.!

Thank you Josie. I can't remember life without them. Love that pic of your little granddaughter in that cool car!

I am babysitting tomorrow for a few hours. Found some big Hershey kisses and bought cupcakes from church bake sale yesterday. I even found this VD shirt my Mom made so many years ago. I'll be wearing that in her memory.

It is a one day at a time for your DD. It's really hard but she will get there. It was a daily struggle for our youngest son too. Sometimes you just feel so helpless but just keep supporting her and praying for her. It works. I should know it did for us.

    Happy pre-Valentine's Day everyone!

    Hugs for those struggling.

    Cute pic Josie.

Get to start a new project today. We bought a travel trailer to re sell. I'll be taking out the dinette & master bed so we can fix the floor & lay down new lino, then it goes up for sale. Should be able to make $7500 or more profit on it. Good seen as how I haven't worked since dx. It's a challenge, but for that kind of profit I'll take it. I'll post pics later so u understand. Have a great day. Fran

Wow Fran you are talented girl. Do post pics. I haven't worked since mine either but DH and I ran the numbers and by the time It was all said and done we would be lucky to break even. Gas, mileage and reduced hours because of early retirement and it just didn't make sense financially. Have to admit I do miss the work even though I seem to manage to stay busy all the time.

    Good luck

    Diane

Diane, they are getting so big! Adorable. Fran, you are amazing. You would make a great husband! (LOL just kidding) You are more handy than many men though....good on you!

I think I can do some things better too. My husband stinks at anything frustrating. If he is putting together a book shelf and it is not going well right from the get go, he will start cursing that "the thing is a piece of junk" and I will calmly read the instructions (novel idea) and walk him through the steps and it appears this usually works. That is why women rule in my humble opinion!

Thanks ladies. It's really easy, just undo several screws. done. Removed bathroom door yesterday 9 screws. Been working on RV's since 1974. I enjoy it as long as I don't have to deal with the public.

I agree April485 reading instructions usually helps immensely.ThumbsUp

Thanks April they are growing up so fast. DH and I babysat for them Friday night so DS and GFF could go out for her birthday. We gave them a bath which they loved. Entertainment is dragging out pots and pans and slamming them everywhere despite the fact they have a zillion toys!

My DH is very handy thankfully. Engineer so he is methodical about everything. He does read directions thankfully. I am truly blessed because he replaced the roof by himself - architectural shingles, all the siding on the house and painted it, hardwood flooring in 2 rooms- 1 to go, hot water heater and on and on. I can't imagine what that would have cost us plus it's done right. I'm not handy at all like you guys are.

Wow in the 70s all week! Not ready for yard work.

Last week was nice, but I had to shovel again this morn. We got 2 inches last night, just when it was drying up where I shoveled last week. oh well could be worse.

Diane, my husband has a BSME! A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering...LOL It is the impatient side of him that makes him curse at the book shelf! He does it right every time, but he thinks that because he is an engineer, he does not have to read the instructions!

I asked him if he would skip reading a blueprint on a project and he looked at me as if I was nuts...same thing I said. HA!
