Thanks for all the info!  If I can get by without the steroids I will be a happy camper..... Have been on so many steroids in the past for my asthma and can definitely say I prefer not to get them.....I am getting nervous to start a new chemo , yet excited to be that one step closer to the finish line of treatment......

I do not get pre meds nite before. Before infusion i have benedryl, decadron and pepcid thru infusion then taxol takes anout 2 hours in all. I have trouble staying asleep after my treatment the decadron which i call "giddy-up and whoa!" From the rush i get day after then the crash 2 days after.   Just had a little rash today on my face.

Have a giod weekend guys happy football to all!

Wow Septmom!  That's a LOT of Decadron!  I'd be awake until 2017 if they gave me that!  I will be so glad to say goodbye to those little green pills...12 days to go...

Northwinds, Taxol for me has been SO much better than AC.  I was looking at your DX and it looks like mine...cancer twins unite!

Happy football to you too Mercedes!

Next, I am on to rads....had my consult Thursday; looks like I will only (!) need 25 sessions, no boosts.  I will probably start late next month and be done by the end of MARCH....end of active treatment baby!!!!! The finish line is in sight!

warrior70 I take two pills of decadron (4mg each) twice a day the day before, the day of and the day after chemo. I also take one pill of famotidine 20 mg with each dose of decadron. Wonder if the decadron dose is low.

warrior, wow your journey is nearing the end, and you sound really in good spirits too, are u documenting everything? Can't wait to hear how the rads go for you, i think they mentioned i would need about 20 plus also, i suppose it depends on the mri i will have soon to determine what type of surgery i will need. Do they only do reconstruction after radiation is complete. Seems like there is different approaches.

I am glad i have u guys to talk   I think i will need some advice or thoughts if i have masectomy if i will do re-cons or not. Personally i would like some perky b cups in lieu of dense C.

Northwinds, i sure hope you get some help and yes taxol much better, one step closer........

Heres to our hair, fuzz growing in........GO 49ers.   Yeah!

Hi Cheryl, I'm trying to document things, and I think my posts on here count!  The last 8 Taxols have all been pretty much the same; it's just been more about getting through than anything else.  I'm scared of rads but psyched to be getting to the last phase of active treatment, and I need to get a fill or two before I start, which might overlap with the last 2 Taxols.  Then,, I know I have to wait at least 6 months after rads for recon, so...we'll see.

I have to concur that it's great to have people to talk to regarding all this stuff...it's scary and confusing at times, and there is safety in numbers.  But, just for today, I will tidy my closet, do laundry, and root for the 49ers!  Have a great Sunday, everybody!

I finished my taxol in Nov.26,2013...now im doing 6 weeks of radiation, already did 10..have to have 8 days of boost. That will start as soon as i have this port taken out, which will be Thursday.I did get neurophy in my toes and fingers. Please let your nurses know when you feel tingleing in your toes or fingers. All they told me was its pain,so i wasnt looking for tingleing.Sure hope it goes away...And yes taxol was alot easier than the 4 chemos i had ,before that.Radiation is ok so far, just make sure i slather up,with euricin cream on my breast, they said.I ask alot more questions than i use too, should have before, but i was honestly scared .But no more. The Dr. said the red and brown spots on my arm was from the sun...Not...I couldnt go out in the sun,it was chemo.Has all cleared up.My hair is coming back, soon i hope..lol..also places i dont want it too come back, like on my face.As they say its all doable...wasnt sure at first, but it is...just hang in there. Thanks for being here,it sure helped me.....K

My mom has completed AC and 9 of 12 Taxols. She still has her brows and lashes. Do you think she will keep them with only 3 more rounds of weekly taxol left?

    Hi,

I had my BMX on Feb. 5th, 2013. I had direct to implants put in at the same time. I had finished chemo and if I did the BMX I could skip radiation. I was glad I skipped radiation because I could have direct to implant skipping expanders. It seems that skin condition makes it easier to do direct to implant. I finished chemo Dec. 26, 2012.

I found Taxol to be easier than AC. I still have a couple issues from it. But I think things are improving. Good luck in your treatments ladies.

HI Mercedes, I spent so much time on Facebook yesterday because the game PI$$ED me off SO MUCH!  That R. Sherman person needs a trip to the woodshed!!!!! Though my Colin turned the ball over 3 times in the final quarter!  I guess I will sort of root for Denver, but really, I am rooting for Navorro Bowman to make a complete recovery and the Niners to return and win next year!  It is do-able!  Well, at least there is the Bruno Mars Halftime show, right?

But the good news...10 days to the end of chemo!  Yeah!

    Keep Trucking Everybody!

warrior you're too funny, i could only imagine the colorful shall i say conversation going on when you were watching the game!  I was also pissed big time, especially last play , missed touchdown, how close ughhhhhh

Good news your almost done. Yahoooooo

I have # 8 tommorrow. I also have appointment with my surgeon, on mar. 11th. So i will at that time find out what type of surgery i will have a little scary

At least i will have at least 5 weeks recovery from chemo before surgery which is nice. I finish chemo feb. 19.

Still dont have full energy, my legs get tired easily by the end of the day, no wonder, that AC shrunk my muscles, i am 5'6" tall and about 130lbs, pretty good shape before this so gotta get these legs back in shape.

Amyone else having problems with leg strength.

Hair still growing like crazy, its so funny though, grayish soft down.   Lol

Hi everyone! I was on taxol and made it through 7 out of the 12. My oncologist stopped taxol due to something called grade 3 neuropathy. I started feeling like my legs wouldn't hold me up. He said taxol neuropathy can be permanent. I am so fearful now that my BC will come back because I didn't do the full course. I was diagnosed with stage 2a, grade 3, ER+/PR+, lumpectomy, 2nd lumpectomy for clear margins. I'm now doing radiation. My question is: Has anyone on here had to stop chemo early? Thanks so much.

Outerbanksgirl, it's pretty common for doctors to stop chemo because of side effects; I don't think I've ever seen a person on these boards recur in that situation (not that it never happens, just haven't seen it.)  You made it through a majority of the rounds; that's good.  If you're hormone positive, you will have Tamox or another AI, and rads are very effective.  Think positive!

I had #4/12 Taxol treatment today.  My liver enzymes continue to be high.  I was wondering if anyone has/had this issue.  Did they stop treatment?

    AlishaCatherine and  VintageGal1111

I lost most of my lashes with about the last 5 of 12 treatments and my brows became very sparse.  I made the most of it though and penciled in my brows (much thinner than I normally have but still neat to do) and used false lashes.  That was really fun!  I am 3 months PFC and they are all back!  In fact, about a month ago they were mostly all there.  I still use the lashes on occasion just because I ended up liking them :)

I'll admit, it was kind of funny to go out without doing my brows or lashes and watch people's reactions :)  Anyway, it seems for Alisha's mom and Vintage you maybe (hopefully) skipped out on losing all of them so here's hoping that continues for you!

    aeryno,

I only have 2 more Taxol, & still have some sparse lashes & brows, not totally gone.

That's great you were able to do the false lashes & that they have come back!

BigT16, my liver enzymes were high from diagnosis, in August, till end of November.  Normal is between 35 to 55 I believe, mine were up to 900 at the highest. They are back down to mid range normal and no one can tell me why. Some say it might have been a viral infection, some say liver was ramping up to fight cancer, I thought it was years of social drinkingLoopy.  No one knows, I'm just glad they are back to normal. They never stopped chemo, just kept watch. I also had an ultrasound before starting chemo and liver was not enlarged nor were there legions.  MO will watch/monitor with blood tests but hoping yours will return to normal as mine did.

    Good luck!!

Had my first Taxol yesterday.  So far no side effects.  I fell asleep during the treatment, thinking the Benadryl knocked me out.  The nurse stayed in the room with us for the first half an hour of the Taxol to make sure I didn't have any immediate side effects.  Kinda scary when she came in carrying a case full of ephedrine shots and other anti side effect stuff.  I was usually pretty anxious during my AC treatments but this Taxol was a breeze.  No anxiety what so ever......thank god for the Benadryl!  If I snooze through the next eleven appointments I will be happy!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Good for you! Taxol for me has been easy compared to A&C,  hope it will be for you too!

I start to get the sleepiness with the pre med Benadryl but get the Decadron (steroid) right after so that is a counter effect for me. But I notice many people doze through their treatments. I just am not comfy in the chair, just can't sleep sitting up even in a recliner.
