annie. Still hoping for good results on your scan. Waiting is so hard, huh ?

Bosco. Glad to see you post this am. Hope that means you are feeling better.

    Hugs all around.

It's s beautiful day here. The temp is 53° and the sun is brightly shining. No clouds , not much wind. Just perfect. I sat out on the porch swing and read ea new cooking magazine earlier. I love to read. Need to make it to the library for more books. Love the library. Today's library is so different from my youth. My youth they had books to check out and a summer reading progrsm. Now I don't even know all the services they provide but I know you can check out books, magazines. Movies, music CD. Or you can buy your books and then trade them at the library. They offer many free classes like computer education, knitting, kick boxing, cooking, family heritage etc the list goes on and on for classes. This is just s few of their services. There are so many more. its good to see those tax dollars I gave were put to a good use. Tonight is a milestone night for ds1. Dh is taking ds1 ( 1 month from being 14 ) and 1 of his friends ( we know very well ) to the bowling alley and letting them stay there unchaperoned for a few hours. Ds1 is a really good son. He is the last one I would expect to break any rule but he is s teenager. Our town has very little crime . dh is fine with it I am nervous. Might have to sneak in and watch him from afar. Shh. I know dh tells me all the time, I gotta cut the apron strings. Ds2 is spending the night at a friends. He was super bummed he doesn't get to go with brother. Nope. Aww poor youngest baby. He's only ,10 and he has a hard enough time following the rules when we are present. Nope can't see him getting that priveledge til much later then ds1. Just last weekend i was home and dss were supposed to be outside picking up sticks and raking. Ds2 decided not to only put sticks in burn pile, but to go ahead and burn them. He got the long grill lighter and some newspapers from the shed and tried to light the fire. Thank God he didn't get it started because it was incredibly windy and he didn't even have the water hose out. Could have been a horrible outcome not just for our family but our neighbors also. So some of you moms with adult children tell me its gonna be OK. Tell me how not to worry like crazy. Letting him have more independence and some freedoms is almost as hard as stage IV battle.

    Bbl.

    Chelle,

I have no interest in football, but Levi Stadium is about 15 minutes away from my house and younger dd went to the University of Colorado. GO BRONCOS!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll be hibernating to avoid all the Super Bowl madness 😌

Chelle, This Pats fan is true to her word so, GO BRONCOS! Last year my dh and were in Hawaii when we watched the Patriots win the Super Bowl. It is a bit cooler here.

I am sitting in Brigham and Women's Hospital......again. My husband was transferred here late yesterday. I think the hospital in NH was overwhelmed by the complexity of dh's recent medical history and was afraid they would miss something. As it turns out, B&W is simply continuing the antibiotic treatment that began in NH and slowly re-introducing food. My husband feels great. This should be a quick visit of only a few days, I think. We are on the same section and floor as last time, and everyone knows us. My husband told me I am a legend here. He arrived by ambulance before I got here. The nurses told him they were looking forward to having me back with him because I stay informed and ask questions to advocate for him. I got a good laugh out of that. Everyone was amazed how good dh looks. I finally feel that soon our lives will once again have a semblance of normal. Oh, and kidney function continues to improve! WOOHOO! Thank you for all your support and prayers.

I had zometa infusion yesterday. The cancer center had very few patients because so many cancelled due to snow storm. I wasn't as well hydrated as usual, and I am a bit achy today. Tylenol helps. I got the tumor marker results from last month. CA27_29 was 141. I know many of you would think that is awful, but it is down a bit from 3 months earlier. It was well over 900 in June, and it was 164 in September. I was hoping for another huge drop, but I will take what's i can get.

I will try to check in tonight to catch up on posts.

    Lynne

Patty yes it'll be ok your sons will grow up to be handsome intelligent and responsible young men because of the time you and your DH have spent encouraging them and showing them how it is done. I was a single mom and by age 12 my daughter would go grocery shopping by herself (we lived next door to the grocery store)) now she's 26 and just graduated from law school even though she's a single mother of an adorable 4 year old. If she and I made it through you and your spouse will most certainly will.

Sending everyone wishes for a restful weekend. Beautiful pix, Patty!  Did Shutterbug get you hooked too?  Bosco....hoping your platelets rally quickly..wish I could send you some.  50s girl...we wish we could forget last year's SuperBowl :-).   But sending thoughts & prayers for you 2!  My DH has had minor medical stuff lately...it's tough to spread the caregiver talents.  Chelle...even though one of my bff's on bc.org is from NC...the Broncos need to win this (sorry Jane!).   Annie..hoping next week's test hold good news!   I don't pop over here often but wonder & hope sisters are doing well.  Thinking of you...XOXO

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I had a bone scan on Thursday. MO said it was exactly what she was expecting it to look like. I'm not showing progression when compared to December CT scans that were taken after 6 weeks on Ibrance/ Letrozole. My MBC was missed after a bone scan in July so I went without treatment for 5 months. I am just finishing cycle 4 now. I take 400 liquid Advil every 8 hours and that is helping. TM was the same on one and up a tad on the other. MO does NOT think they tell us much. But my alk phos is down to almost normal. I was happy about that. I will get another CT scan in 2 months along with a bone scan and hopefully we will know if I'm on right protocol. Had xgeva shot yesterday. Scalp is so tender - I've been reading all the posts and praying for everyone. Hugs, carol

Go Broncos that's for you Chelle.

lovrdmsltese. No progression s good news. Yea ! Thanks for sharing.

Ronnie kay. You are a colorer also. Sweet. So many people.

Wouldn't my past coworkers just stand with their mouths wide open to see how I spend my day now. : naps. Yes that's right plural naps lol , coloring. Watching TV, reading etc. Yeah right. Lol. If only they knew I am lucky if I get a shower every day and do so little else because it is just complete exhaustion , and pain and nausea etc. So if something as simple as coloring keeps my brain from turning to mush from not using it then I am going for it. Crazy how goals change.

    Anyway. Hugs to all

Lovemaltes-stable bone scans is great news!!!

Lynne I hope your husband gets his release papers from the hospital quickly so you can both go home. TM's of 141 would be wonderful news for me. I was thrilled when mine went from 248 down to 236 this month-my first drop since being dx with mbc. I hope your TM's keep going down and down and down.

Lynne yeeh that you are in a good place. It does help to be surrounded by ppl that care. Best wishes for a quick trip back home. Great to hear about the CA 27.29 it's looking good! Do you also do Tm's for CEA, and CA15.3?worked,

Deanna wowowow this is good stuff, the link you sent is so interesting. Definitely conversation piece with doc. How did you even find it? Thanks so much!! Let's see how this tx now is working, and for sure we could look into this info you sent. You are a doll.

Linda thanks for the link, yep it worked, i really hope Hope feels better soon. Thank you. It's heartbreaking.

Lovings - yep carbo and gemzar could be tough. My daughter was on it, not for long. Wishing you much strength, he is lucky to have you by his side.

Bosco - so glad for you your son is there with you. Hope you come home real soon. How did your Pltls get so low? So fast? If I may ask how often were they checking it? Dani's is checked every week, we do see it going down, it's scary to see it go down so fast, glad you got your transfusion.

Dee - hmmm, yeah, so she goes away, but meanwhile you have a life too, a suggestion to doc; if you go away then be responsible and give over important tasks to a PA or something like that. Just not good enough!! I know it happens. But it ain't right!!

Mary good for you!! So glad you got your answers and you could relax a bit.

Patty it looks so relaxing. And you did good. And the best part, is seeing the little ones laugh! Great.

Well, we got a bit messed up also, Dani's lower dosage of Ibrance did not arrive as expected, bcs Pharmacy did not have all they needed from Onco, WHY did they not ask all they had to the first time around!!! It's a miracle the world works somehow at all!!!

Momallthetime - platelets / bloods checked every week. 5 yesterday! Always drop after Day 1 chemo (Gem/Cisplatin) but will come back up naturally. But knocks Day 8 treatment off schedule. Progression means they want to treat quickly hence the aggressive blood treatment - but not doing much so far and now my BP is obstinately high so can't even do that. Now have cardiologist, haematologist, RT consultant and onc on the case!

Funny, my daughter and I just bought a couple adult coloring books the other day, and now I see so many of you are coloring, too. We used to color a lot when she was little and now doing it again when she's a teen! Ronnie Kay, the Broncos loss two years ago is still stinging us, too, and I am so hoping today goes better for them. I'm a native Denverite and life-long Broncos fan, so GO BRONCOS!! I think this may be their year. Good weekend to all.

    Good morning all,

Loves - that's excellent news! Love reading that.

Bosco - Seems you have a good brochette of specialists surrounding you! I'm glad they are giving you state or the art care that you deserve.

Lynn - Good to hear dh is getting better. Take care of yourself as well.

Patty - coloring, painting or any other hobby is good for the soul. It's sort of like a meditation where we temporarily forget our problems and pain and it's so relaxing. We need that time for ourselves.

Mommal - WHY is the question! It could be so simple...

    Chelle - GO BRONCOS!

    Happy Sunday to all!

I was in a book store right before Christmas and noticed several large displays of adult coloring books. I had no idea that they were so popular (younger dd has always found coloring therapeutic and her therapist actually uses them with clients). So, I bought one (mandalas) and a fancy tin of colored pencils. Haven't had much time to color, but have enjoyed it when I can.

Super Bowl update- it's a clear, sunny day in the Santa Clara/ San Jose area. Forecast is for record breaking high temps in the upper 60-70 degree range. Even though it's only about 7:30 here, I have heard and seen many helicopters and military aircraft flying above my house. This is the part that makes me a bit sad, as I wish we didn't have to have such security worries over a sporting event. Anyway, may all of the football fans enjoy the game and may everyone have a good Sunday

the amazing price of adult coloring books is the price. When my nerighor first turned me on to coloring I thought an adult coloring book meant like x-rated. I was like really....um. Think I'll stick to nature scenes. Lol. Glad it didn't really mean that.

    Patty,

LOL! Your comment created quite an explicit picture in my mind about "adult" coloring books. I'll stick to the soothing, repetitive pattern of mandalas 😉

GO BRONCOS!!!!!! (Not just for Chelle and other Coloradoans or Coloradans here, but b'cuz my hubby, who is also a CO native, will be an absolute bear to live with if the game goes any other way.)

A brochette of specialists. I've never heard that term, Linda, and the image made me smile. Also couldn't help imagining a few docs I don't care for on a skewer.

Great news on the platelet jump, Bosco! Fingers crossed and prayers that things continue to go well for you.

Nice job on the coloring, Patty! Definitely needs a place on your frig!

Lynne, so glad to know your hubby is once again improving!!!

Have a great Superbowl Sunday, everyone!

thank you everyone for wishing my boys a victory! We did it!!!! It was such a fun day. Had a bunch of people over, way too much good food and it ended with a win. Wow! These days are few and far between.

Lynn, I'm so happy to hear that DH is rapidly improving. You are truly a great sport, to wish my Broncos a win!

Caryn, I can only imagine the traffic and craziness in San Jose right now. Things here have gone insane. I have been hearing gun fire since fourth quarter.

Been over doing it a bit. Sometimes I forget that I can't do all I used to do. Going to get to bed a little early tonight. Wishing everyone a restful night, and a pain free, stress free week. Love Chelle.

Congratulations to Bjsmiller, Chelle, and all you other Broncos fans. It was a good game. Deanna, your husband should have a big smile on his face.

Chelle, Rest up after the busy time you've had. It is really easy to overdo it. Sometimes it's worth it, but we do pay the price.

Bosch, Woohoo for the big jump in platelet count. I hope you start your treatment and begin to see results quickly.

Some of my DILs have adult coloring books, and they enjoy them. It seems like a good stress-reliever, and I have been considering purchasing some for myself. I have virtually no artistic talent, but I suspect that spending some time coloring would enable me to enjoy the beautiful pictures and feel that I was somehow part of the creative process. The books seem a bit pricey. Hey, why didn't I come up with the idea of marketing specialty coloring books to adults and make tons of money?

Caryn, I hope things have started to settle back down in your neighborhood now that the SuperBowl is over.

Patty, congratulations for getting through your son's first unsupervised outing. You have done a great job of raising hi, and I have no doubt that he will make wise decisions.

Ronnie, I have seen your posts on other threads. Welcome back here. I hope we see you here often.

LovesMaltese, That is great news that there is no progression on the bone scan. It is also good that your alk phosphatase level is down. WOOHOO!

We are expecting another snowstorm today. I guess winter has finally arrived in New England.

My DH is still in hospital here in Boston. Things weren't quite as simple as we had hoped. We shall see what today brings. I am still hoping that the remaining issues will resolve themselves and that no intervention is needed. DH still feels good but still not allowed to eat. We need to get home.

DH and I were walking through the halls yesterday, and a woman stopped to chat with us. She had been visiting her son who is a patient here. I think she was feeling overwhelmed and just needed to talk to someone, even strangers like us. It turns out that she has breast cancer and had surgery fairly recently. Good grief, we are everywhere! Of course I told her that I also have breast cancer and am stage IV. She gave me a huge hug and told me that I will be okay.(big sigh). She did tell me that I look much younger than she is. Hahah, I am quite sure I have a few years on her.

Well, I guess I should try to get some sleep before the doctors start their rounds. Have a good Monday, everyone. I hope scans, blood tests, and treatments go well for all.

Find something to smile about today. Hugs all around

    Good morning to all,

Congratulations to all the Broncos fans! How exciting and I'm happy too that they won.

Bosco, good news on your platelets recovering so quickly. You have an amazing ability to heal and I hope your treatment brings positive results very quickly!

LovesMaltese, that is great news on no progression, I'm so happy for you!

RonnieKay, so nice to see you posting here. Thank you for the well wishes, it's a very stressful week with all these appts. Praying for good news.

Patty, my oldest dd just bought one of those coloring books, I'm itching to get at it! I've always loved coloring and I think it's a great way to occupy your mind and relieve some stress. That or a game of Candy Crush :)

Lynne, you amaze me, and you have such a great attitude. Wishing dh gets out of the hospital real soon and I'm sorry things weren't quite as simple as you hoped. Please make sure you get plenty of rest too. And yes you're right about breast cancer being everywhere, there's just way too much of it in my opinion and more really needs to be done.

Wishing everyone a great start to their week. Hugs, Annie

Sharing Bronco victory happiness today! And boy, what a life lesson re. Cam Newton's performance. I think we can all take something about focus and never giving up and digging deeper away from that. In other words, don't be a Cam Newton!

Glad you're getting tx, Bosco! I'm praying for a miraculous response!

Lynne, your hubby's situation makes me think of my onc's comment about mbc being a marathon -- not a sprint. Sounds like he's in somewhat of the same boat. Just hoping and praying he can keep his spirit strong through these setbacks. And praying he's home again soon, partly because this cannot be easy on you. Sometimes I wonder how you do it, although I'm glad you were there to provide support to another caregiver who sounds like she really needed it.

Patty, glad you survived your son's first unchaperoned night! The hard part will come when he doesn't use the best judgment -- as all kids will, especially boys -- when you need to discipline, but at the same time love and don't want to dampen their individuality and sense of adventure, and maybe are even a bit amused by whatever they got into -- when you have to be the grown up, but something inside of you is also loving whatever stupid thing they did, especially since it didn't kill them!

RonnyKay, hope you'll hang out with us more!
